Bouchard's By the Bay Chapter 3 The Date
Lucas looked himself over in the mirror one last time. His palms were sweaty, and he was nervous. Checking his tie one more time, he headed out the door to get Elizabeth. He grabbed the flowers off the table and off he went. He only lived ten minutes from Elizabeth's apartment, but it felt like the shortest ten minutes of his life. Can I do this he thought to himself as he sat in the car for a moment? He took a deep breath and with all the courage he had in him he made his way to the door.
He knocked and took a deep breath as Elizabeth answered. "Good afternoon, Elizabeth. You look stunning. That color completely suits you. These are for you." He handed her the flowers.
"Thank you, Lucas! These are exquisite. Let me put them in some water and then we shall go."
He waited patiently inside the door. "This is a lovely apartment, Elizabeth."
"Thank you. I just leased it for a year."
"I hope you don't mind having dinner at my place. I rarely get to eat at home and would love the change of pace."
"Oh no of course not Lucas."
Lucas escorted Elizabeth to the car, and they made the short drive to his two-story mansion. "Lucas, this home is huge. Why do you have such a big home and no one to share it with? No wonder you never eat here. It must be lonely."
"It does get lonely, but I am hardly here. I hope you don't mind that I cooked dinner." He smiled dimples on full display.
"You can cook too? Is there anything that you can't do?"
"I can't fly a plane. Although I have been wanting to learn. I don't have time to take lessons."
"This dinner looks amazing Lucas."
"Thank you. My cousin and I have cooked together quite often so I have picked up a skill or two. Would you like a glass of wine?"
"Sure!" She responded as he poured her a glass, but none for himself.
"You are not having any?" Curiosity getting the best of her.
"No, I will be at the club late tonight booking talent for next week and I don't want anything to cloud this moment for me." He winked causing her to blush.
"I must say I am impressed."
"Tell me more about yourself Elizabeth. How did you end up here in San Franciso Bay?"
"Well, a teaching job opened here that paid well and I took it. I like living close to the coast."
The more time they spent together the more Lucas realized what was missing in his life. "Do you plan to stay here in San Francisco Elizabeth?".
"I think so. There are a lot of great things about San Francisco including friends Lucas."
"I didn't realize how late it is getting and I need to get to the club. Let me take you home Elizabeth."
Elizabeth fidgeted nervously in the car on the way home. Her mind wondering if she was going to get to be the first woman in fourteen years to receive his first kiss. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach just being near him. He walked her to the door stopping just before.
"Elizabeth, I had a wonderful time tonight. This date went well. I can only think of one thing that would make it perfect." He leaned in gazing wordlessly into her beautiful blue eyes looking for any sign of resistance but seeing none. He placed his hands on her cheeks and with gentle strokes he made his move as he pulled her lips to his. He felt the instant spark as he pulled back but wanting more.
"Ummm, I had a wonderful time as well." Elizabeth replied feeling speechless.
"Did you feel it?" He asked.
"What?" She responded confused.
"Electricity." He said causing her to respond with a kiss of her own.
"Does that answer your question."
"Let me take you for coffee in the morning. I only have early mornings and 330-5:00 free everyday and if all I get is stolen kisses than so be it." He said knowing something in his life was going to have to change.
"Okay!" She said as he kissed her goodbye one more time and headed for the car. She stood and watched until he was completely out of sight and then opened her door and went inside. She shut the door and let out a deep sigh.
Elizabeth called Rosemary on the phone. Rosemary answered, "hello."
"He kissed me, Rosemary."
"Oh Elizabeth, I need all the details. Please tell me. How was it?"
"It was perfect. It was gentle but confident. I can't believe I kissed him. Everything about him is just gorgeous. I know there is no such thing as a perfect man, but he is close. No wonder all the women keep coming back to see him."
"Are you going to have a second date?"
"He is going to take me for coffee in the morning."
"Elizabeth this is wonderful news. Maybe he is the one."
"Rosemary it was one date. Don't get too excited yet."
Lucas walked into the club with a huge smile on his face.
"Sir, you look happy."
"Gustave, I have told you over and over not to call me sir. We are family. Call me Lucas."
"Well?"
"Well, what?"
"How was your date with Elizabeth?"
"It was good. We had a wonderful dinner and then I took her home."
"Did you kiss her?" Gustave asked mischievously.
"I did."
"How was it?"
"It was nice." Lucas responded.
"Nice? A kiss from your mother is nice."
"Okay it was wonderful. I am taking her for coffee in the morning before school."
Lucas made his way to his office, but his thoughts were on the beautiful schoolteacher and their last first kiss. It had truly sent electricity coursing through his body. He knew as soon as he met her that there was something there. They had chemistry. He could not wait to see her again.
