It's time for the next installment of the Indigo League Tournament!
"Hey, do me a favor; don't cry or anything when you lose, alright."
Ryan was in the stadium for his battle, which was set in a terrain that resembled a sort of mountainous cave littered with crystals that sparkled in either a red, blue, green, or purple light.
The trainer he was facing was a young man that wore a red jacket over a white shirt with a chibi Sylveon logo on it, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
"Seems like we're getting a bit of trash talk before the battle! But before we begin I'd just like to welcone everyone back to our coverage of the Indigo League Tournament. If you're just joining us now, my nane is Corey Ronallo and I'm joined by my colleague, Mauro Graves." Corey greeted.
"That's right!" Mauro added. "And we're just about to begin the second half of battles for this stadium, with Group D now beginning it's first battle! Starting off we have Ryan, who impressed everyone with his previous battle, up against Travis, who used the terrain to an extraordinary effect in his battle. Now the question is, can Travis use this new terrain to his advantage or will Ryan find a way to best him?!"
"Just as long as you don't do the same when you lose." Ryan responded.
The battle began and the two sent out their first Pokemon, with Ryan using his evolved Magmortar against Travis' Breloom.
"And the battle is under way!" Mauro announced.
"Not sure about Travis' choice of Pokemon..." Corey noted.
"Oh not this again!" Mauro sighed.
"Go Breloom, Mach Punch!" Travis ordered. Breloom sprung forward with a confident look on it's face and its fist primed to deliver a punch right to Magmortar's face.
"Counter it with Psychic!" Ryan commanded. Magmortar grinned as it primed its right arm like a cannon and blasted out a multicolored ball of energy.
Breloom jumped over the psychic cannonball and smashed it's fist into Magmortar, jumping back to a safe distance afterward.
"Now follow up with Rock Tomb!"
Breloom stomped on the ground, summoning boulders that flew towards Magmortar with a wave of Breloom's fist. The crystals began to react ti the presence of the boulders, glowing and sending sparks of energy at the boulders and causing them to turn green.
"Magmortar, use Fire Blast!"
The Blast pokemon placed both its arms in front of itself and used its arms to create a white hot burst of flames that completely incinerated the boulders. Breloom tried to jump back, but was still struck by the flames.
Breloom gasped for air and stared at Magmortar in a daze as it rose back to its feet.
"Come on Breloom, try Rock Tomb again!"
Breloom was visibly more worn out when it tried using Rock Tomb, with the boulders now being turned red by the crystals.
"Using the same attack?" Ryan asked. "Then we'll do the same! Magmortar, Fire Blast!"
Magmortar took a step forward, aiming its cannon arm at Breloom directly as it fired its attack. The boulders did mothing to even hinder the attack, instead appearing to fuel the Fire Blast and enhance it, giving it just enough reach to take Breloom out. The crystals appeared to absorb the embers that remained from the attack, causing the red crystals to glow even brighter for a short time.
"And with an emphatic Fire Blast, Ryan has secured the first K.O.!" Corey exclaimed.
"Hmph, maybe I took you too lightly." Travis noted with a smirk. He sent out his next Pokemon with confidence. Ryan and his Mgamortar now had to face Travis' Hariyama.
"Stone Edge, Hariyama!" Travis ordered.
"Magmortar, use Fire Whirl, quickly!"
Hariyama slammed it's hand down on the ground and yanked a piece of it out before tossing it upwards and punching it when it came back down towards it. The punch shattered the boulder and sent its shards hurtling towards Magmortar with the crystals changing the rocks to a blue color.
Meanwhile, Magmortar summoned a ring of fire at its feet with one wave of its arm towards Hariyama, the ribg of fire transformed into a tornado of flames that sped horizontally at Hariyama, engulfing its Stone Edge attack and the two Pokemon.
After a few seconds of being swung around in the flames, the two pokemon were forced back into their pokeballs and a different pokemon the trainers owned were sent out. Ryan now had a Mismagius out against Travis' Sylveon. The Stone Edge seemed to have completely evaporated in the attack.
"And Ryan has completely turned the battle on its head!" Mauro commented.
"Not bad, kid. But can ya' keep it up?" Travis asked.
"I won't just keep up, I'll outpace you!" Ryan responded.
As the battle progressed, the Team Dark Star zeppelin landed several yards away from Tohjo Falls. Singularity, the Team Dark Star boss, sat alone in his personal quarters, looking at his belongings, specifically at some sort of photo book.
"You're looking at that book again, aren't you."
He turned around and saw his wife, the empress of TDS; Andromeda standing at the doorway. Since they weren't in any danger, Andromeda didn't have her mask on. Her hair was black and long, her eyes were an icy blue and she had multiple scars in her face.
"Yes, you know how much I've planned for this. I want to find him especially!"
The book in Singularity's hands was a school yearbook, which appeared to be from when he was about seven or eight years old. The picture he was looking at was the one right next tk his own. This boy's name was Alden Cedar, he had messy brown hair and a bright smile in his picture.
"Oh yes, and when this world is reborn I will be sure to make sure he suffers an endless death!"
Singularity thought back to the day he first began to hate this boy. The day that birthed the motivations that would eventually go on to be the reason for the creation of Team Dark Star.
About thirty years ago, Singularity was just a typical boy from Saffron City. From a you g age he always had a fascination with creating things... and destroying them. One day, he and his classmates were on a field trip to Mt. Moon.
Singularity and Alden were looking around the outer area of the mountain, their class were given a chance to roam the outside area until lunchtime.
"Hey, what's that?" Alden called out. The two boys ran over to a round pink object in the middle of a small clearing in front of a pond.
"It's... an Egg..."
The two boys watched the egg for a few seconds before it began to hatch.
"Ah! It's hatching! I gotta get the teacher, she'll want to see this!" Alden said.
The Egg hatched into a baby Cleffa with perfectly chubby cheeks and sparkling, bright eyes. There was just something about this Cleffa that Singularity couldn't help but stare at it for. It wasn't because it was cute, but because he didn't like that fact that it was smiling at him.
'Shouldn't it be crying like a normal baby?' He thought. 'Are all baby Cleffa luke that, or is there something wrong with this one?'
Crying meant that someone, human or Pokemon, was in some sort of pain, at least thats how Singularity saw it. But this Cleffa just smiled and tried to walk over to him as it cried out its name in ignorant bliss. When it fell over, insted of crying it just crawled instead.
'Why don't you cry? You just fell over!'
A dandelion seed floated over to Cleffa and tickled its nose causing it to sneeze. Nonetheless, Cleffa simply laughed and then tried to stand up.
'Cry! Just cry already!'
He couldn't explain it, but Singularity wanted to see this Cleffa cry, to see it in some sort of pain or anguish.
Alden eventually came back with their teacher. She knelt down to the newborn and lifted it up
"Aww, what a cute baby!" She cooed. She looked around but didn't notice any Clefairy or Clefable nearby. "Well I don't nornally condone taking a wild pokemon out of its habitat like this but since its parents aren't nearby I suppose the best thing to do is take it with us."
"Really!" Alden asked in joy. Singularity simply stared at the Cleffa, waiting for it to start crying.
Alden woud go on to adopt the Cleffa, their teacher insisted that she was unable to and Singularity didn't say anything, so Alden was left with the Cleffa. That evening, Singularity sat at home and watched a pokemon battle on his tv. Watching the trainer's pokemon get hurt, it felt right to him, but it didn't alleviate the feeling of emptiness. He turned off his television and went outside to get some air, that was when he noticed a rustling in some nearby bushes. A Rattata scurried out of the bushes and sniffed around.
Singularity slowly crept up to the Rattata and grabbed it by the throat from behind. The small pokemon was choking for air as it tried to kick itself free, but to no avail. The sinister child brought the Rattata to the family shed and let it out of his grasp before proceeding to kick the pokemon as it gasped for breath.
Seeing the pain he had inflicted managed to rid Singularity of the feeling of emptiness he had been going through. He locked Rattata in a box and left to go back inside...
...
Years would pass, Singularity was now an older teen. At this point he was just beginning an internship in Silph Co..
"Hey, you're an intern here too?"
It was Alden, who was an intern for a different branch if Silph Co..
"Yes, so I suppose we'll be working together?" Singularity asked, a fake smile on his face.
"Yeah! But we'll be in different branches though, I'm just here to do some entry level work and then I'll head over to the Edath region and work full-time over there."
Alden was then called by a Silph employee, who beckoned him upstairs.
"Guess that's my cue, maybe we'll be on a project together! See you around!"
Singularity hoped they wouldn't, ever since the Cleffa incident, as he called it, Alden was never a friend in Singularity's eyes. He just ended up having a feeling of resentment towards him that was not reciprocated.
The two young men were placed in a group that focused on items and locations that had some sort of significance or connection to mythical pokemon in some way. Aside from the two young men, there was a girl in their internship group. She had a similar sort of aura surrounding her to that of Singularity.
The two rarely interacted until they were bith in an archaeological dig where the two would u cover a Dread Plate.
"This Plate, it gives off a bad feeling, doesn't it?" She asked.
"Indeed it does." He replied.
It wasn't much, but after this one statement, the two seemed to have some sort of symbiosis towards each other.
For the next few months the two were inseperable at Silph Co., with most of their time together spent on researching the other kinds of plates just like the Dread Plate they found.
One afternoon, the two had agreed to do some research outside of the Silph HQ, to Singularity's home. There the two were able to go over their findings in peace and quiet.
"These texts, they tell of a being that has the power to destroy and recreate the universe! Perhaps someday I'll be able to do that too!"
"And what would you do if you could?"
This question stirred up a whirlwind of inspiration in the young man's mind. His face grew serious, yet full of passion and vigor.
"I would recreate this world and change it into one that suits MY needs! One where I get the respect I deserve!"
Suddenly, a crashing sound came from Singularity's shed. The Rattata that he had abused had only been treated worse throughout the years; it was showing signs of malnourishment, it had multiple bruises and lacerations, it's eyes were bloodshot and there were tears of fear and panic in them.
The escaped Ratatta ran over to the girl and his behind her. The girl gave Singularity a blank look while he looked nervous.
"Is this what you want your world to be like?" She asked. She didn't fet an answer, but Singularity was pleasantly shocked when she grinned at him and thengave a hard stomp to Rattata's head, putting it out of its misery...
"If this is what your world to be; then I, Anita Cattiva, will be your Empress!"
Singularity laughed a but before giving her a wicked smile.
"As incredibly cheesy as that sounded, I would love for us to rule together! Anita Cattiva and I, Brian Empio, will recreate this universe and rule it as gods!"
The two laughed together before continuing ti stomp on the deceased Rattata's head.
For the next few years, the two would go on to kidnap, torture, and eventually execute several pokemon, keeping them inside of Brian's shed. In the meantime they would work at Silph Co., earning enough money to build their empire and recruit more people into their group, the group that would eventually become Team Dark Star...
"Oh yes, and even after all those years we've only grown in strength, numbers, and resources. Despite several nuisances, those unwanted pesterers will all meet their end!" Singularity said confidently. Andromeda smiled, that passion to his cause was one of the reasons she fell for him.
"Magmortar, use Ignite!"
Ryan's Magmortar flexed its muscles and began to glow red with intense heat. The heat managed to heal Magmortar's injuries.
Up on the titantron, Ryan's Mismagius had been knocked out as well as Travis' Hariyama, leaving Ryan's opponent with only two Pokemon left, one being the Sylveon he was currently using to battle, and one more that was yet to be seen.
Sylveon was breathing heavily, dirt smeared on its face and burn marks on its body. Despite the pain it continued to stand and fight!
"Sylvain, don't back down, Shadow Ball!" Travis ordered.
Magmortar finished heating itself up, ready for a counterattack.
"Now Magmortar, use Psychic!" Ryan ordered.
The Shadow Ball sped towards Magmortar, who reached a hand forward and slowed down the attack using its mind.
The two pokemon were locked in a battle of willpower to make sure their attack caused damage to the other. Magmortar eventually won when Sylveon's injuries caused it to lose focus for just long enough for Magmortsr to send the attack back at Sylvain, taking it down.
"And Travis goes down to one! It'll definitely be an uphill battle for him now!" Mauro commented.
"More like a hopeless battle." Coret remarked.
"Guess it's down to this." Travis said, sending out a Cacturne as his last Pokemon.
"Yup, he's boned." Corey chuckled.
"I guess your Yungoose is cooked, Magmortar, use Fire Blast!"
"Sandstorm!"
Cacturne dangled both its arms in front of it, swaying back and forth as sand blew upwards from what appeared to be nowhere. Magmortar's attack disappeared and dissolved within the sand.
"Oh and that Sand Veil ability is definitely coming in handy!" Mauro stated
"Now end it with Sandblast!"
Cacturne let out a cry that sounded more like an evil laugh. Sand swirled around Magmortar in shapes that almost resembled blades. Magmortar didn't hage a chance to breathe or defend itself as the sand ripped it apart, knocking it out before it could hit the ground.
"Oh, what an intense Sandblast!" Mauro commented. "A personal favorite attack of mine."
"What happenes to being impartial again?"
"Oh shut up..."
Ryan thought for a moment about which pokemon he should send out before coming to a conclusion.
"Guess it comes down to this. Pinsir, I choose you!"
"Going with the type advantage? Clever. But can you even land a hit?" Travis taunted. "Cacturne, use Dark Pulse!"
"Use Protect!"
Cacturne's body negan to turn pitch black before it exploded in a blast of darkness, thankfully for Ryan, his Pinsir blocked the attack. The attack however, caused the crystals in the field to turn black, which completely drained the field of all light and leaving it in total darkness, which did only made it easier for Cacturne with the Sandstorm still active.
"Woah, Travis has changed the field into a Dark Crystal field! This could very well be the beginning of the end for Ryan!" Corey noted.
"Hahah! Ya' see?! Its over!"
"Really now? Then end it!" Ryan exclaimed.
"With pleasure! Cacturne, use Needle Arm!"
Cacturne dissapeared in the sand and darkness with a sinister laugh.
"Ok Pinsir, on my mark, alright!" Ryan assured his Pokemon.
Pinsir waited and listened, hearing some sort of shifting in the obscured arena... That was when the pokemon and trainer heard Cacturne attacking from the left, this was their chance.
"Now Pinsir, use X-Scissor!"
Pinsir took a step back and ducked down, its pinchers aimed in the direction Cacturne was coming from.
Cacturne leaped towards Pinsir with its spike arm poised to punch its target. Pinsir, now able to at least barely see its for, charged at Cacturne and tackled it with its pinchers pointed at it. Pinsir squeezed Cacturne, making sure to listen for its gasps for breath.
"Now finish it!" Ryan ordered.
Pinsir tossed Cacturne skyward, blowing away fhe Sandstorm in the process, and waiting until it fell close to it before slashing it and knocking it towards Travis.
"And what a way to end the battle! This match goes to Ryan!" Mauro exclaimed.
"Travis recalled his Cacturne and smirked.
"Alright, you got me. Do me a favor and keep up that winning streak." Travis said, giving Ryan a thumbs up as he walked away.
Ryan sighed with relief as he recalled Pinsir, this battle was definitely not easy and it would only get harder from now on.
Ray just finished watching Ryan's battle and began to wander around the area, his own battle would be later in the evening. Part of him was excited about his battle as he had a new attack combination he had been dying to try out but the fact that it was untested and hes general anxiety about the tournament was a heavy burden on him.
"So you're the guy he's battling? Hah, this'll be quick." Ray almost didn't notice the girl that had said this to him. The girl was rather plain looking but she had a posh and snooty aura around her.
"Um... Who are you?" Ray asked.
"Nobody you should worry about. The person you should be worrying about is the man who's about to beat you; Jacques!"
"Oh yeah, he's the guy I'm battling." Ray said, too focused on his thoughts to remember at the moment.
"Ugh! You think he's not worth your time?! Well we'll see who's laughing when he sweeps you!" The girl said.
"Oh let the boy have his moment!"
A young man approached the two, he was thin and wore a blue polo short with khakis with fancy brown loafers. He also had an ascot tie to complete his wealthy look. He kept his head held high and his upper lip stiff.
"Listen here old chap, my pokemon are purebreeds and were raised to be the best they can be and the best that money can buy! Simply put, you have no chance! Just make this simple for the both of us and quit now!"
"What?! No way!" Ray responded, offended at the attitude these two were giving him.
"Suit yourself, just don't cry about it afterwards!"
The two preps walked away, Ray definitely wanted to beat Jacques, but that slight feeling of doubt continued to hang over him...
Time passed on and the time came for Ray's battle against Jacques. The arena this time was a grassland arena with a few trees and rocks scattered around.
"Amd we're just about done with our battles today as continue on with Ray up against Jacques!" Corey announced.
"That's right! We've also heard from the Crepe Berry vine that these two had a bit of a run in with each other earlier today. Seems like this might be looking up to be an intense battle!" Mauro added.
The sound of Jacques' name being chanted rather loudly from a certain part of the audience caught Ray's attention. It was the girl that trash talked him earlier with an entire posse of girls that were high-class just like she was. They were all chanting for Jacques and cheering him on, taunting Ray in the meantime.
"So you actually showed up, well I warned you!" Jacaues taunted. Ray scowled but temained calm.
The two sent out their first Pokemon, with Ray sending out a Scizor and Jacques using an Alolan Persian.
"And the battle is on with Ray showing a clear advantage in terms of typing." Corey commented.
"Who needs typing when you have my natural talent! Persian, use Hypnosis!"
Persian's eyes and gem began to glow as rings of yellow energy began to emanate from them, heading right at Scizor.
"Scizor, get out if the way and use Swords Dance!" Ray ordered.
Scizor somersaulted out of the path of the Hypnosis, once it landed it spun in place, sharpening its claws and forming blades of light that floated behind it.
"Hmph, you just got lucky! Persian, Dark Pulse!"
"Scizor, quick, get in close and use Bug Bite!"
Persian hissed and let out a pulsing wave of black energy from its gem. The wave almost hit Scizor, but with a quick leap, the Pincer pokemon began to speed towards Persian. Persian stopped the attack and flinched when Scizor grabbed it and lifted it upwards. It then howled in pain as the inside of Scizor's claw began to glow green as energy was drained from Persian's body.
Once Persian was completely drained, Scizor's claw stopped glowing. Persian moaned weakly as Scizor tossed it down onto the ground.
"And Ray takes the first K.O. in stellar fashion!" Mauro exclaimed.
"With that boost in power from Swords Dance, Ray and his Scizor might just be able to pull off a clean sweep!" Added Corey.
"Oh you just got a but lucky that's all! But luck can't beat the best that money can buy! Go, Alakazam!"
Ray was surprised and confused as to why Jacques sent out an Alakazam, it's typing and low physical defense would make it difficult for it to win.
'Why would he use an Alakazam?' Ray thought. 'Does he have some sort of strategy?'
"Alakazam, use Focus Blast!"
Alakazam clashed its spoons together, the energy it created formed a yellow sphere of energy that was then launched at Scizor.
"Quick, Scizor, use Bullet Punch to get away from it!"
Using its speed, Scizor zipped away from the Focus Blast and towards Alakazam, pummeling it with a barrage of punches before speeding back a safe distance away.
"Use Psyshock!" Jacques ordered, his frustration growing.
"Get in close and use Bug Bite!"
Alakazam reached out it's hand and summoned glowing orbs that began to fly in Scizor's direction. Scizor charged at Alakazam, avoiding as many of the orbs as it could, the ones that it avoided began to home in on it,
Once Scizor was close enough, it grabbed Alakazam and used it as a shield to block the Psyshock attack. Scizor then used Bug Bite in the same way it did against Persian, which was also successful in knocking out Alakazam.
"And there goes Alakazam! Can Jacques possibly bounce back from this?" Mauro asked.
"Is that even a question we need to keep asking?" Corey answered.
At this point Jacques' entourage began to boo and mock Ray, who just loked confused and embarrassed. Jacques himself looked like he was about to burst with rage. Instead he silently sent out his third Pokemon, a Beartic. The Freezing pokemon gave a great roar as it was sent out into the field.
"Beartic, make him pay with Aqua Jet!"
"Scizor, Double Team!"
Beartic stamped its foot on the ground, splashing water from seemingly out of nowhere and surrounding itself with it before charging towards Scizor like an aquatic missile.
Scizor braced itself before it began to move side to side at a speed that was able to create copies of itself in the same position. Beartic hit one if the afterimages, causing it to fade away.
Beartic stopped its attack, realizing it had missed its target.
"Now, follow up with Bullet Punch!" Ray ordered.
"Use Superpower!" Jacques commanded.
Scizor sped towards Beartic, barraging it with a series of hyperspeed punches. Beartic attempted to grab it with Superpower, but one swift uppercut from Scizor managed to cause it to flinch for just long enough for Scizor to get away.
"Argh- YOU'RE NOT GONNA MAKE A FOOL OUT OF ME! BEARTIC, USE ICICLE CRASH!"
"Woah, calm down!" Ray exclaimed. "Scizor, use X-Scissor, quickly!"
"Seems like one of our battlers is getting a bit too rowdy..." Mauro commented.
"Even with an Ice type he just can't seem to chill..." Corey added.
Beartic swiped at the air with its massive arm, releasing a wave of cold air that formed razor sharp icicles that were hurles straight at Scizor.
The icicles hit all of the afterimages, but a swift dodge allowed Scizlr to barely avoid an icicle. With it now being in front of Beartic, Scizor grabbed the energy swords it formed and used them to enhance its X-Scissor attack, slashing at Beartic at point-blank across the abdomen.
With this attack, Beartic collapsed with a thud that resonated throughout the arena.
"Is this really happening folks? Are we really about to see a four-nothing sweep?!" Mauro exclaimed.
"Well one thing is certain." Corey chuckled. "Jacques has to get good!"
Jacques stood silently, his fists clenched and hia breath growing heavy. His face began to burn red and his eyebrows began to furrow.
"Uhh... Are you o-" Ray tried to say before getting cut off.
"DON'T YOU DARE SAY ANYTHING!" Jacques shouted. "YOU MUST BE CHEATING SOMEHOW! NOBODY MAKES A FOOL OUT OF JACQUES PELOSI THE THIRD!"
Jacques' groupies immediately began to protest in agreement of their idol.
"Should we get security?" Mauro asked.
"At this point... Maybe..." Corey answered.
Jacques sent out his final Pokemon: a Garchomp, with a Mega stone dangling around its neck... Scizor began to tale deep breaths as exhaustion slowly began to settle in as well...
'Uh-oh, gotta finish this quick' Ray thought. "Scizor, use Bullet Punch!"
"Garchomp, don't mess this up! Mega Evolve and stomp on that cretin!
Scizor sped towards Garchomp, who was still going through the Mega Evolution process. Once Scizor was in punching distance, Garchomp had finished Mega Evolving, the attack did little to nothing against the Land Shark Pokemon. Garchomp lifted its foot and used it to bring Scizor to the ground, roaring right in its face.
"Good, now end it with Fire Blast!"
Ray had no chance to order Scizor to dodge or counterattack, Scizor was pinned down and too close to its opponent to do anything in time. Garchomp exhaled an intense blast of fire that completelt singed Scizor, there was no chance Scizor could endure the hit, especially with how long it had been battling.
"AHAHAHAHAHAH! NOW LET THE SLAUGHTER BEGIN!" Jacques laughed maniacally.
"Well there goes the clean sweep." Mauro noted.
"And the rest of Jacques sanity!" Corey added with a laugh.
Ray thought about what pokemon he should use next. Finally, he decided that against an opponent as brutal as a Mega Garchomp, he had to hit it as hard as he could.
"All right, I'm putting my faith in you; Poliwrath!"
Ray sent out his starter Pokemon, which flexed and posed when it had arrived on the field.
"Oh don't you start showing off now! You'll just end up making yourself look bad when you lose! Garchomp, Dragon Rush!"
"It won't be that easy! Poliwrath, dodge it!" Ray ordered.
Garchomp leaped upwards and towards Poliwrath, enveloping itself in a burning red aura as it began to plummet towards its tsrget with its razor sharp claws outstretched.
Before Garchomp could tear it apart, Poliwrath jumped back, avoiding the strike.
"You wanna know why it won't be that easy?" Ray asked. "Because Poliwrath and I have been through all of Kanto together, learning and training as much as we could! That training, it helped us master how to make bubbles a force to be reckoned with! Poliwrath, use Bubble Bomb!"
Poliwrath clasped its hands together, creating a singular bubble that sped towards Garchomp, slowing down when it drew near.
"Hah! That puny thing can't stop us!" Jacques proclaimed.
"You sure about that? Here's a bubble; stealing your eyesight!"
The bubble popped in a large explosion of bubbles that completely enveloped Garchomp completely. Once all the bubbles popped or flpated away, Garchomp was left trying to wipe its eyes and walking around aimlessly and in a bit of a panic.
"W-what?! What did you do?!" Jacques asked.
"Exactly as I said!" Ray replied. "We've made our selves strong enough to where our bubble attacks have gained the power to remove a quality, ability, or force its target has. In your case, we've taken away your Garchomp's ability to see. Don't worry though, it'll only last as long as it's on the field."
"Absolutely incredible! That is one of the most unique attacks I, as an announcer has personally ever seen!" Mauro proclaimed.
"Gotta admit, that's amazing!" Corey agreed.
"GYAH! THAT WON'T STOP US! GARCHOMP, EARTHQUAKE!" Jacques yelled.
"There he goes on screaming again..." Corey sighed.
Garchomp dug its claws intk the ground, ravaging the ground in a straiht line in front of of, missing Poliwrath completely without it having to move.
"Wh-why! Garchomo what are you doing?!" Jacques said, his hope fading.
"You cant hit what you can't see." Ray stated. "Now one more time Poliwrath, Bubble Bomb!"
Polowrath launched another bubble at Garchomp, after another successful attack, Garchomp was seen struggling to stand after the bubbles cleared. After one last attempt to stand, Garchomp slipped and landed on its back.
"What I took this time was the friction in Garchomp's body, it can't fight back if it can't stand up. Now this battle is over! Poliwrath, finish it with Close Combat!"
Poliwrath charged at Garchomp and began to pummel it with a barrage of punches and kicks. The momentum of the assault caused Garchomp to spin in place, picking up speed with every punch and kick. Poliwrath then stepped vack and began to twirl its arm to prepare a punch that would end the battle.
"Now slide away!" Ray said with finality.
Poliwrath delivered fhe final blow, smashing Garchomp with its massive fist and causing it to slide all the way back to Jacques, who was in utter disbelief at his loss. His face then began to look like a Voltorb that was ready to blow and his entourage looked like they would as well.
"Can we get some security over here." Corey said calmly. Security officers and even an Officer Jenny came to escort Jacques and his girls away, making sure they kept quiet as they were escorted.
The audience cheered for Ray's astounding victory and for his hotheaded opponent's removal.
Ray sighed with relief as he waved to the audience and headed back to the locker rooms.
Yuki and Sinead met up with Ray as he left the Arena, both with excited looks on their faces.
"Ray, that was amazing!" Sinead said in awe.
"That bubble technique, incredible! You absolutely have to teach me how to do that!" Yuki exclaimed.
"Hehe, sure!" Ray said, he couldn't help but blush at the attention.
"Ray, that was an amazing battle, I'm very proud to have had you as my student!"
The three trainers turned amd gasped in joy when they saw their old teacher walking over to them.
"Dr. Goff, you came to watch us!" Ray said, giving his teacher a high five as the two girls hugged him.
"Of course! I wouldn't miss this for the world!" Dr. Goff replied with a smile. However his smole soon turned into a serious frown. "However I wish I was only here for leisure. But I'm here for business as well."
"What do you mean?" Yuki asked.
"I never wanted this secret of mine to come out to you, especially when you were still my students. However times have begun more drastic, and with how much I've come to like you all, I feel as though you and your other former classmates should know the truth about me. But you must swear to never tell anyone!"
The three trainers nodded anxiously, this was their beloved teacher who was always optimistic but also strict, and here he was about to tell them a very serious secret thay was hidden from them for years.
"You know me as a professor at the Vermillion Pokemon Academy, and that much is true. I am a certified teacher and I love being one. But I am also a member of the International Police Force. It's my duty to stop criminals from commiting crimes that span across several regions and making sure to prevent any international incidents. I'm sure you're all well aware of Team Dark Star by now."
"Y-yeah!" Sinead responded, still trying to comprehend what she just heard. The other two nodded alongside her.
"Well then you know about how they tried to frame Jack for very serious crimes that they themselves are guilty of. I've been tasked with keeping track of them ever since their first major incident at Mt. Moon, however they're very good at covering their tracks."
"So you think they're planning something here?!" Ray asked.
"Perhaps." Dr. Goff answered. "Either here or at a remote location. Now before I go and continue my research I want to apologize. I kept you all in the dark about this for so long."
"Doc, you don't need to apologize!" Ray assured.
"He's right, you're still the hest teacher we've ever had. Now you're the best teacher and the best police officer!" Yuki said with a smile. Dr. Goff smiled back at the kids.
"One more thing, the reason I waited so long to say this was because I knew everyone from the class would be here for me to tell them this, but I unfortunately haven't been able to find them all yet." Dr. Goff admitted, laughing at himself a little bit.
"We can help you find them, or at least tell them about what you said." Sinead assured.
"That would be great, thank you. But remember, only the other members of your class can know, otherwise, my position MUST remain a secret! Is that clear?"
"Yes sir!" The three trainers said simultaneously.
"Good! Now all of you go and get some rest, especially you Ray, you'll need it!"
The four went their seperate ways, the trainers tried to put the thought of TDS out of their minds. When they eventually did, the resumed their conversation about Ray's bubble strategy.
On the mountain range surrounding the Indigo Plateau, the RM stepped to scan the area.
"I am on site and in position to strike when ready." It said, relaying his status back to Typhoon back at the zeppelin.
"Good, but you can stand down for now. You're just there to alert us if Agent Dakota loses. Once he does, then we make our move."
"Acknowledged." It said before sitting on its hind legs, watching the arenas as the sun continued to set on the Indigo Plateau...

Let me know how you feel about the villains' backstory so far by the way, everything you read might not have been the full picture... Aside from that, I hope you'll look forward to the next one.
