Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Fight or Flight. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Vale.)
Maize hated airports. He was constantly questioning why they had so much security. If someone was going to do something illegal? They'd be doing it somewhere private.
"Rave, why can't we just use your semblance?" Maize asked with a raised eyebrow as he crossed his arms. "Every single time we deal with this? I lose a bit of faith in humanity." Maize said which caused Sal to chuckle.
"So, you've already lost your humanity?" Maize heard which caused him to raise an eyebrow.
"Screw off, Sal." Maize said with a smile as he turned back to Raven. "Why are we using the airport? We could borrow one of Beacon's Bullheads." Maize said which caused Sal to chuckle at this as he remembered what happened.
"I guess you forgot what happened last time we tried using a Bullhead from our school?" Sal put in as Gram once again held up a finger.
"Maize, enough with these antics," Raven stated as her second in command only rolled his eyes and leaned back before looking at the leader of team RUST.
Maize knew for a fact that their mission would happen next. The trip to a new land was interesting. It was something that all of them seemed to interest them at the moment.
"I cannot believe there's already another Grimm extermination mission." Maize said while he looked around. "I don't know what the hell is going to happen when we get there. If it's as bad as they say?" Maize questioned, gaining a nod from the others.
Raven looked at Omen's hilt on her hip. That woman from before still lingered at the moment. There were more than enough monsters to dispatch… To kill.
But now? She was beginning to realize there were far more monsters than she could hope to defeat. And that scared her far more than she thought it would.
(In 2 months)
Raven looked at Maize on the airship. The gun sling was busy thinking to himself about things, he was far more interested in what the future held. They would survive this mission, RUST had already dealt with something worse, how bad could this be?
"Students?" Glynda asked from her seat. "Don't forget I'm here… And I heard all of that," Glynda said, making Maize share a nervous look at Raven who shared it once more.
She turned to look around once again at the rest of her team, doing a quick headcount with the rest of her team.
"Raven, how bad is this hive we're going to hunt down?" Maize asked, tapping his friend on the shoulder. "I don't know how bad this is going to be when it comes down to it." Maize put in as he rubbed at his temples.
Then again? Things were going to be horrible, the last hive they had gone to cut down? Yeah, this was going to be far worse than Maize probably assumed it would be. Things would be horrible if they were so terrible before? Then next time would be worse.
"Are you ready for a fight when we arrive?" Raven asked and got a nod as Maize hummed.
"Hopefully it will be ok… But I'm also kinda scared." Maize stated and crossed his arms. "Last time? We barely walked away. What if that woman and her friend show back up?" Maize asked which got Raven to hum.
She knew very well that the other woman was a maiden. It was clear that she wanted Raven's power… The power that few people had. If someone had that sort of power again? Then she'd be outmatched. The woman seemed far older, and if she had that much power at her command? Then raven didn't know if she could win.
"How bad things will be… It Will be worse, could probably be better." Raven stated to Maize as she turned to look at the window.
"Do you think it will be different when we get back?" Maize questioned as he tapped his fingers on part of his chair. "Because I don't know how bad it will be… But we're fighting through them… Fight them all if we have to. We're taking them out, kill them all." Maize said which got a hum from her.
This anticipation rather bugged her. They had a job to do, and she was nervous, quite curious about how random this would be. Raven frowned and crossed her arms while Maize continued to read the magazine once more.
Then again? Raven used the fear, it kept her normal. It kept her sane when it came to mind. She knew this woman was much more dangerous… And yet? She was interested in the challenge that came with it.
Raven looked at Maize who was busy making sure his weapons were good. The next fight was fresh on his mind. It would almost always be on his mind.
And it scared him to no end when the fight finally arrived.
