Caleb was tired from everything today. Other than his wife being around twenty weeks pregnant, he had to deal with a store robbery, stop a fire at Hexside, investigate the apple blood shortage, deal with a meeting with Emperor King and the other Coven heads and worst of all, he escaped the stomach of a Litladon. Like a Megaldon, but somehow bigger. But it wasn't just that, he had to get to the store to buy his wife some stuff for her pregnancy.
She was around 20 weeks showing and she was beginning to show the baby bump. But it wasn't just that, her food cravings were getting out of hand and the fridge was almost empty. She had been put on maternity leave which sucked for her because she really enjoyed working at Hexside.
But the Hexside staff weren't doing this to be awful, they just wanted Willow to put some focus on herself instead of her work since stress can be too much during pregnancy.
She was currently feasting on some griffin eggs and dragon steak as well as the human food known as papaya which Willow hated yet Amity seemed to have liked.
The Black Guard walked inside his home where he saw his sister-in-law, Amity, tending to her being overly emotional.
"Hey honey." Caleb said.
"Where have you been?!" Willow asked angrily.
Caleb sighed. "Working. Where else?" Even though he was patient with his pregnant wife, there were days where it became overly frustrating.
"Well you took too long." Willow groaned.
"Willow, control your emotions." Amity said gently while rubbing her back. "Too much stress is bad for the baby."
"Hey Noceda, do you hear something?" Willow asked.
"Uh…No."
"That is the sound of a smart ass whose opinion I don't wish to here!" Willow yelled so loudly that it got a baby to cry.
Amity groaned. "Oh great, you've woken Azura."
"How's being a mom, Amity?" Caleb asked as he took off his helmet.
"Frustrating when your sister-in-law is another emotional wreck I have to take care of." Amity said while entering the bedroom to take care of her daughter.
Caleb sat down in front of his wife and sighed. "Willow, is everything okay?"
"I don't know." Willow responded sarcastically. "Maybe I'm stuck cooped into this house without any work or my husband who is working a lot of the time."
"I know! I know!" Caleb responded. "But good news-"
"I know you got food!" Willow retorted. "And do you think I'm happy about that?"
"Do you really want to shout?" Caleb asked. "Because the baby is still crying."
"Well the baby won't know of any pain until she decides to have a baby!" Willow yelled.
Amity soon walked out with a tanned skinned baby girl with brown hair, golden irises and pointy ears, crying. "Willow, please. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a baby to sleep? Come on Azura, ssssshhhhh. Ssssssshhhhhhh. Time for your nap."
"Amity, it's okay, I got her." Caleb assured her. "Just get your baby to sleep." Amity nodded her head and walked back into the room to get her two week daughter to calm down.
Willow just narrowed her eyes at Caleb. "Do you have any idea what's going on with me?! I am carrying a baby! I'm fat, I eat too much, I cry about every thing, I have random pee breaks and everything is just sore! And all you're doing is going off working and saving everyone while I'm stuck here, suffering!"
"I know! I know! I know!" Caleb said. "But I've been working hard to get all the snails we need to help the baby."
"I know." Willow sniffled. "I'm sorry for giving you a hard time. I think I've gotten to the point where everything frustrates me."
"It's okay Willow." Caleb took off his gloves and placed a gentle hand to her face. "Do you wanna know, something, you won't be alone."
"What?" Willow responded. "You're getting Amity to watch over me until I have the baby?"
"Please don't." Amity yelled from the room. "I just want to spend time with my daughter."
"No Amity, not you." Caleb assured her.
"Luz?"
"No. She also needs to spend time with her daughter." Caleb said. "Listen Willow, I'm taking a paid leave from the Coven."
Willow was shocked. "What?"
Caleb sighed. "Willow, I can't do this any longer. I can't leave you at home on your own. You're in pain, you're doing a lot of work carrying the baby and you're getting so stressed and worried about me that it's making me stressed and worried about you."
Willow was more surprised than either shocked or angry at her husband. "But…But…the isles."
"Don't worry, Emperor King found a replacement." Caleb assured her.
At the palace, King did find a replacement to become the Black Guard. "Wow! Temporary promotion. How much more do I get paid?"
"Everyone around here gets equal pay, Steve." King said.
"Even the janitors?"
"Even the janitors."
Back at the house.
"Caleb, you don't need to do that." Willow assured him. "I can handle myself. Trust me, please."
Amity walked out of the bedroom. "You literally called me here because you couldn't exactly handle it on ya own."
"Well how did you handle it?!" Willow asked.
"Being pregnant?" Amity asked. "I got through carrying Azura fine. Even when Luz had to work, I got through it fine. But you Willow are…" Caleb made a slitting throat gesture before Amity could say something stupid. "…You know, I'm going to head home. Luz is probably home right about now and she'd definitely want to spend time with our daughter." Amity walked back into the bedroom and put her daughter in the baby basket before exiting the Park residence. "Oh, and Luz says you better tell her the gender." She exited the house with her daughter, leaving the Parks to themselves.
"Caleb, are you sure you want to do it?" Willow asked.
Caleb sighed. "I'm going to be there for you. I'm not doing this just for me, I'm doing this to help you. And when the baby comes, we'll figure out a system where we can be there for them."
Willow smiled at her husband and kissed him on the lip. "Thank you."
The two then began to hug each other. Caleb pecked his wife on the forehead and pressed his hand on her swollen belly. It was then, he and Willow felt a strange sensation in her stomach.
"Willow, I think it kicked me." Caleb said.
Willow smiled. "I think someone's being impatient."
Caleb chuckled. "Wait a little longer, baby. We're excited to meet you as well."
