I never really thought about putting this up because it was something I wrote like, late at night. It's very random, I guess, and very short. But what the hell, I might as well share it. What good is fanfiction if others can't read it? So whatev. Enjoy.

The Difference Between Right & Wrong

I. Sometimes she thinks about him, but most of the time, he does the thinking, the plaguing. He mindlessly winds himself throughout her thoughts, weaving in and out of class schedules and homework assignments and Harry and Quidditch and her family. Try as she might, she can't get him out of her head. Everywhere she goes, she can see him, feel him. That jet-black hair; those cold, dark eyes; his long, slender fingers.

He is beautiful, and she hates him.

II. She tries remembering a time when he didn't follow her around. Happier days. Innocence. But all she can think of is that dark, musty cave, underground and so far away from everything warm. She thinks of his face, just inches from hers; his eyes, so full of passion and longing; his body, even colder than the dungeon in which they were standing. She wanted to be anywhere and everywhere and there all at the same time.

But mostly, she wanted him.

III. "I won't hurt you, Ginevra."
"Yes, Tom."
"But I will haunt you."
"Forever, Tom?"
"Oh yes, my dear. Forever."

IV. When she can't sleep, she paces the common room - back and forth, back and forth - until the fire is distinguished and the house elves come to clean and the sun begins to rise. She rushes back to bed before anyone is awake and pretends to have slept through the night, though it is never the case. Even when she is asleep, he walks through her dreams. He tells her he loves her, oh how he loves her.

The other girls in her dormitory hear her talking in her sleep. More often than not, she is overheard whispering, "I love you, too, Tom."

V. Sometimes she wishes she could go back to that day in the cave, and though she knows Tom wouldn't ever leave her, she wishes she could stand in that memory forever, basking in the rays of his attention.

For together, they were the true fire and ice, the real extremes of the world, the difference between right and wrong. Together, they could've ruled the world.

But instead, he will simply haunt her. Forever.
