Two Worlds, Two Souls

Chapter 16: Dueling Among Friends

Angel's Point of View:

It was another few days later before Sans truly felt like himself again. He gave me a call the next morning after we'd left to check on Frisk and I while we were at the library, once again learning more information about this world and many things that we've missed out on.

Since that morning, we hadn't seen much of the brothers, but Sans often called to make sure that we didn't miss out on anything when it came to Captain Undyne or how the guards were moving about in case we wanted to go back and see Toriel. Until I was able to get a more solid footing on the ground or until I hit rock bottom, I didn't want to do that. I wanted Toriel to be proud of my sister and I, how we were adapting to everything and were living on our own.

We had run low on money and times were getting so pressing that while my sister would study at the library, I'd taken to shoving driveways of people to earn any bit of gold I could. People had been kind, seeing that I was struggling from my thinner figure and gave me enough to hold Frisk and I over. Each house I took care of gave me enough for at least one or two days at the inn, any extra I tried to store (I also had to pay Bernie a small price for her letting me borrow her shovel to earn any money at all…)

I also had to pay back Sans one day… he still insisted on paying all of our meals…

At the time we were at the end of our second week in Snowdin when things started to change. My sister and I noticed Papyrus following us around a lot more often. He hung back in the distance and watched us, sometimes when Sans was with us, sometimes without. When my sister often played out with Milly and MK did he show up the most, looking like wanted to join them while I sat and talked to Maria.

Speaking of the bear monster, she was relieved to see me the next day. After Papyrus, for lack of a better word, kidnapped me in broad daylight to assist with his sick brother. When we had been separated so suddenly when we were just getting to know each other left her a but upset, but she was happy to know all was well with Sans and Papyrus. She and I continued our conversations between each other while the children played. She was even kind enough to invite us to her home at some point. While I was nervous about that, I was willing to give her a chance from how kind she was and the fact that Sans had told me she couldn't hurt a fly if she tried.

However, everything changed on the second Monday we'd been in the snowy town.

It had been a normal day where I'd finished up cleaning up a few driveways before gathering up Frisk and heading to meet Sans at Grillby's. Upon arriving there, I was surprised to see that besides Sans stood Papyrus, looking quite out of place. He normally would be patrolling or with Captain Undyne at the time, so I was curious as to why he was there besides being with his brother.

"Good evening Papyrus," I nodded my head to him as us sisters approached the brothers. "Will you be joining us tonight?"

"No, the Great Papyrus has quite high standards and Grillby's does not meet them." Papyrus shook his head before placing his hands on his hips. "However, my business does include you two humans."

It was nearly impossible to stop the irritation from my face.

Sans seemed to be in a much willing mood today and glanced up at his brother. "Pap, remember they got names. Angel's the older one and Frisk is the smaller one."

"Brother, this is more important than that!" Papyrus stepped away from his brother, summersaulting away before landing a few feet behind us. "I challenge the two of you to a duel! After you've had your terribly greasy meal, you will meet to the field on the east of town! There I will wait to face you as a warrior! Do not be late!"

And without another word, he was gone. Papyrus was speeding, rushing off without a word and nearly plowing over anyone who stood in his way, but it seemed the people of Snowdin hardly minding as he left. My sister and I blinked before we looked over to the remaining skeletal brother.

"Sorry 'bout that, I've been tryin' to get him ta work on those names, but he's not really sinkin' it in."

"I just don't want to end up screaming at him in frustration." I sighed. "I've told him our names multiple times and I'm very worried that I'll end up hurting him if I lose my temper…"

"Well, at this point I wouldn't really blame ya." Sans shook his head, shrugging at us. "Paps has been going on with this for weeks without much though, ya may have to do somethin' more drastic to make him listen."

"You may be right…"

We all walked inside Grillby's then. With three of us to our group, it was better for us to grab a booth rather than the normal spots at the counter we'd been prone to sitting at. Once comfortably seated, Grillby grabbed our normal drinks we tended to have, ketchup for Sans and root beer for my sister and I.

"Can I have chicken tenders tonight, Sis?" Frisk pleaded over to me while we glanced over Grillby's menu. We tried to be adventurous and try all sorts of food that he'd have available, as well as his specials he put out once every week. I had to say my favorite was his crispy chicken or the lemon salmon, but Sans always loved his burgers and hotdogs.

"I don't mind; I'll probably go with the house special tonight. Grillby got his hands on some ribs that I'm eager to try this time around."

"That sounds yummy…" Frisk drooled as she looked over the menu. "Can I have a bite?"

"I suppose." I glanced past her to look at the skeleton with us. "Would you like some too? It would be good to try other things outside your comfort zone."

"Nah Precious, I'm good." Sans waved me off. "Though I bet its good, Grillbz knows how ta cook."

"What was that with Papyrus though?" Frisk questioned Sans. "Is him challenging us the reason why he's been acting weird the last few days?"

"Who knows?" Sans shrugged again. "Paps has always been curious, probably wants ta make friends with ya, but not sure how. He's got… quite the personality. Not everyone understands his kind intentions when he wants to help and inserts himself without their permission."

That made me bite my lip in worry. "Does he not have any friends?"

"Eh… what's yer definition of a friend?"

Sans' words certainly told me all I needed to know. People didn't understand Papyrus, they don't try to understand what they think is different or weird. That wasn't fair to him when all he wanted was for people to like him for who he was.

"I'm sorry Sans…" I wanted to reach out and grab his hand to hold, but I felt that wouldn't be right. It was right there, only a short distance from my own that sat on the table, idle. I didn't want to scare him or offend him, so I kept it safely at my side, regardless of them temptation to hold. "That's not fair to him. I hate it when others judge people simply by how they look or without getting to know them or their side of the story…"

"Yeah… well, welcome ta life Precious." Sans sighed and leaned his head into his hand. "That's just the way monsters are. I bet humans are too."

"You know; those terms really are irritating to me." I let out a huff of air and my sister flinched at the hotness of it, not used to me being so openly upset.

"Sis?" She tilted her head in confusion.

Sans also seemed to hesitate at my comment. "How so, Angel?"

"Monsters and humans… I hate how we're segregated just how white and black colored skin was back just after monsters were sealed away. We're all living beings, we're people. I wish others would understand that instead of using such terrible names." I glanced back at Sans with a much more intense look to my eyes then before. "I don't see you as a monster. You're a person. One that deserves the same chance anyone else would have. My opinion of a 'monster' is someone who has done wrong to someone, who has destroyed someone's life in such a way that perhaps they will never recover."

The air was stagnant around us as I let the comment sit in the air. It was rare to have Frisk and Sans quiet at any one given time, especially when the two of them were together. However, I held their attention with this subject. This was something I couldn't let pass up with how strongly I felt.

To me, "monster" just never felt like the right term to describe anyone, especially since we arrived down below. I didn't like the term much on the surface, but that was how all humans seemed to view those that they've never met before. Uncertain, weary of those that have been locked away. But for what? What reason were they sealed?

It was to dominate them, to assert human authority. I couldn't remember the terms that monsters were once called before they were sealed, but I knew there was a term to describe them instead. However, it looked as if this newer generation of magical beings from below had accepted the term of "monster" as their true species name.

I had no words of how infuriated I was when I heard someone calls themselves that, especially after meeting so many incredibly wonderful people below the surface. I had been a long time since I felt so strongly about anything or anyone other than Frisk.

Not since…

No, don't go there… Don't think back to then. It's in the past, nothing good will come of remembering her…

She forgot you…

I sighed, trying to relax and not upset the two before me.

"You okay Sis?" Frisk was worriedly looking at me; I could feel it through her soul as she carefully held out her hand for me to hold. I was thankful for it. She knew just how much I craved physical touch, especially though hands.

Frisk allowed me to take her hand into my own and allowed myself to feel over her fingers, to retrace the marks in her skin and to see her young flesh growing or see the scars from the past. One nasty one she got from our cat when we were young was on the inside of her finger. Thin as it was, the skin showed one pasty white line that cut across her first finger into the middle of her palm. She had only been four when it happened.

"Didn't know just how handsy ya were, Precious." Sans chuckled from the other side of the table. The tension that had been there prior had left and his joking came forward with no regrets.

"It's her weird thing," my sister commented before I could say anything. "She likes hands, a lot-"

"Frisk!" I pinched her hand in the process with her in my grip, which let loose a squeal from her. Frisk yanked her hand from mine and dived under the table to escape. She popped up next to Sans on the other side, hiding under his arm, his jacket draped over the side of her head as she peaked over the table. Our skeleton friend glanced at her in amusement with his arm slightly raised to keep it off her head.

My narrowed eyes at her caused her to hide under the skeleton's jacket.

Sans tilted his head, curious then. "Does that bother ya, Precious?"

I lowered my eyes away from my friend. "It's embarrassing…"

"It's also part of the reason she holds my hand all the time, besides trying to keep me from doing stupid things." Frisk grinned from the other side of the table while I had to hold back from hissing at her.

I didn't like how I felt so exposed in those moments…

"Really?" Sans was entertained. I wasn't sure if I liked that or not in that moment. "Ya wanna see mine?"

A flush came over me then, surprised by the sudden willingness. "R-really?"

I wasn't expecting it as the skeleton reached his hand across the table and left it there for me to study. His fingers lightly drummed at the table as I watched them in amazement. I'd never been so close to a hand like his before. Watching it move without muscles or ligaments truly stunned me while Sans seemed to be enjoying the expression on my face. For many people, what I took fascination in was perhaps pointless and ridiculous, but I found it fascinating. The hand, a simple part of the body that is used so much that we don't realize just how helpless we'd be without them.

I loved to watch every angle, the way they moved, the way the felt. Everything was so different all the time with every single one.

I couldn't stop myself after a minute of watching, if he was willing, I wanted to see his hand.

"You're sure you don't mind?"

"Come on Precious, what's the hold up? I told ya it's okay, didn't I?"

With that notion to the air, I carefully reached and picked up his hand.

Regardless of the fact that it was made of bone, Sans' magic seemed to make the limb heavier than I anticipated. I assumed that since it was only bone it would be light, and in some ways it was, but if felt denser. It must have been the magic flowing through his body and around it that made it different then my original idea.

His fingers were just as long and narrow as my own, which I never paid extreme notion to before since I never thought I'd have an opportunity such as that. The true only difference was that my fingers were incased in skin and muscles, his with invisible magic to all eyes but his own.

The bone of his phalanges was smooth under my fingertips. I could feel the ridges and the small discrepancies of the curves, the edges of him. I'd never felt bone before. It was strange to feel how dense and strong it was, even with how brittle I knew it could be.

I flipped his hand over then to look at his palm, it was small and narrow looking compared to Frisk's or my own. He didn't have the muscles, the tendons or fat on his hand that would make up a palm. Still it held that smoothness as his fingers had.

I was mesmerized…

"Ahem…" My head shot up then to see Grillby had left his signature spot at the counter to come and get our orders.

My eyes widened and I quickly sulked into my chair along, humiliation overheating me and causing me to retreat. I pulled my hands away from Sans and hid my face in my arms, too embarrassed to glance anywhere else but the shadows crafted by my own body.

"Awe Angel, don't be so depressed." I felt my arms being poked at, though I refused to lift my head.
"Angel…" Frisk I could imagine pouting on the other side of my arms. Though try as she might, I wouldn't lift my head.

"Grillbz, ya wanna get our order started?" Sans came to my rescue to remove the man who had me mortified at my own strange irk. "I'll have my normal order and the girls will have chicken tenders with fries and the ribs special ya got goin' on."

I heard the fire male writing down on paper before I heard him hesitate for a few moments. Only after assessing a bit longer did I hear him leave and I dared to peak out from beneath my arms. Grillby had left to his spot again behind the counter. Patrons were still mingling about and ignoring the table I sat at. With a heavy sigh, I lifted my head, but held my arms crossed before me in preparation to hide once more.

"Awe Angel, don't be mad." Sans seemed to return to holding his face with one hand and the other drummed the table. He knew, just from that single interaction, that I was drawn in again by his hand.

I pouted back at him in retaliation.

"It's not that weird, Sis." Frisk murmured from her safe spot besides our comedic friend. "Grillby isn't going to judge, just inspect Sans' hand again like you were doing."

Against my better judgement, I did as she said.

Frisk's Point of View:

My sister quickly got over her self-consciousness when our food came out. It was amazing, like always when Grillby cooked. With the food gone, all that was left was to pay the bill and leave (granted, Sans just added it to his tab like normal…)

"Oh that was good!" My sister commented as she stacked our plates and set them at the end of the table as neatly as she could for Grillby to collect when he had the chance. "Now I suppose we'd better see about checking in with Papyrus, yes?"

"Uh… I've already texted him to go home and wait until tomorrow, Angel." Sans shook his head while he pulled out his phone, turning it so that we could see the weather app that was selected. Large white snowflakes were all over his screen as well as winds blasting around thirty miles an hour and the temperatures looked worse than normal. "Gonna be a snow storm tonight, I'll be takin' ya two back as soon as yer ready. No one's going out in that mess."

"But would Papyrus really just 'go home'?" I questioned him from where I sat beside the older skeleton. It was the only safe place away from my sister when she got embarrassed earlier. "Won't he stay out there?"

"Naw… I'll go get 'im and drag him home if he isn't there already by the time I get home." Sans showed his normal grin, but there was something more underlying in the slight changes in his skull. He did seem worried about Papyrus, but getting us back to the inn was the smarter decision he deemed. Angel had mentioned that cold didn't bother them as much as others, but if it got really bad… well… I hated to think what that would mean.

"Are you sure you don't want to go get him first?" Angel questioned our older skelly friend. "We don't mind waiting, and I'm sure Grillby wouldn't mind us waiting here for you."

The fact that Sans didn't immediately brush her off gave me all the incentive that this was concerning and out of Papyrus' character. Sans seemed to refuse to allow us to help as well, which meant it was time for me to go behind a few people's backs and see what I could do to bring back the funny, younger skeleton!

"I'm gonna go wash my hands real quick Sis." With my jacket still on from the breeze sneaking in from the edges of Grillby's door, I was already dressed for the outside weather to protect myself from the snow and wind. Granted, I would probably loose feeling in my fingers long before I reached wherever that idiot was. All I knew was that he was on the east side of town toward the next village here in the underground.

Man was I going to be in so much trouble when I was done…

Granted, the worry that came to me about finding him (and the slight thrill of being able to face him in a battle without my sister yanking me to and fro) was more important than worrying about that. Sans and Angel would just try to stop me if I said anything, so I figured it'd be better like that.

"Okay, don't be long, the snow is going to start coming down soon and that wind is terrible."

My sister's words were an afterthought as I hurried to the bathroom and prayed to make my escape.

Grillby's restaurant had a small window that was just large enough for my small, kid sized body to fit through if I could find something to helped boost me. A quick glance in the room and I saw a large trash bucket with no cover to it, though filled with trash.

I'm not about to make a mess for Grillby to clean up, that's too mean…

I hurried to the bin and pulled out the trash, tying it off and placing it aside before turning the bucket over so I could climb on top of it to escape. Once I got my bearings on the trashcan, I opened the window only to be blasted back with a gust. If it wasn't for my quick reflexes, I would have fallen to the floor and made a large enough racket to cause my sister and Sans to check on me.

Not while I had such an import mission!

The window remained open, the air forcing it to remain as such while I threw a leg up over the ledge and proceeded to fall out of the building into a small pile snow. The wind nipped away at me quickly, but it seemed that the snow had yet to let loose. I couldn't yet feel their prickle on my skin.

"I'd better move fast… It won't be long before Angel figures out I'm gone…"

Once I was on the ground, I tried my hardest to run toward the part of town where Angel told me to avoid. I knew I had to pass by the brother's house in order to get there, and if that was the case, if Papyrus was already there, he could let me in!

If not, I knew he was stupid enough to stay out…

It only took me a minute to run up the street from Grillby's to the house of the brothers. In a single leap, I had made it up their steps to the front door where I quickly let my body hit the door to make as much noise as I could be knocking. I punched it as hard as I could to make sound, but when I heard nothing from the other side, not a single sound of movement, I knew Papyrus wasn't there.

Granted, I never expected him to home in the first place…

I jumped off the front steps before rushing off toward Waterfall where Papyrus apparently wanted us to meet. The road was hard to see over the blasting wind that hit my face, when the snow would arrive, I knew it would be that much worse with the storms my sister and I had walked through when we were younger.

I couldn't make Papyrus stand out in this weather alone! Or wait for Sans to get us back to the inn so he could go get him…

"Little human!" I raised my head just in time to see the skeleton standing in an open snowy path that seemed to lead into a cavern behind him. What was in the cavern I couldn't see over the roaring wind, nor the skeleton who blocked my way. "Where's the larger human?"

"Back with your brother!" I hurried up to him and latched onto his arm. "We need to go home before the blizzard gets here! Sans is going to be worried sick when he finds out you're not home!"

"But little human! We were supposed to fight!" Papyrus pouted. "I have so many feelings I wanted to talk about with you and the big human! Feelings like… finding another pasta lover. The admiration for another puzzle solver's skills. The desire to have a cool, smart person think you are cool. These feelings, must be what you are feelings right now! Especially as we stand in this storm!"

My jaw threatened to drop as stood there, freezing my butt off. Really…?

"I can hardly imagine what it must be like to think that way." Papyrus almost seemed to ignore the cold around him as the wind whipped up and snow began to fall, almost feeling like frozen blades cutting into my exposed cheeks. "After all, I am very great."

Oh lord… If his brother doesn't kill him once this is over for being so stupid… my sister will…

After she buries my body…

"I don't ever wonder what having lots of friends are like. I pity you, lonely Little Human."

Papyrus continued on as if he didn't notice the growing irritation on my face nor the fact that the storm was really starting to pick up in those moments. I kept my arms close to me while he blabbered, my hand still lingering on his arm as the visuals began to diminish.

"Worry not, lonely you will be no longer! I the Great Papyrus, will be you're…"

Papyrus halted then, not finishing his thought as he stood there in the icy wind. I felt him pull his arm from my hold and fully turned away from me while he mumbled to himself. I was hardly able to hear him as he did…

"No, no this is all wrong. I can't be your friend, you are a human!" Papyrus whipped back around to face me with a much more determined look on his face rather than before when he looked so happy. "I must capture you! Then I can fulfill my lifelong dream. Powerful, popular, prestigious! That's Papyrus! The newest member of the royal guard."

Papyrus dived back from me then and my eyes widened that he actually was going to do a battle like this in the snowstorm. I let out a deep breath of air while I contemplated how to face him.

What would throw him off? What would make him lose his cool while he faced me? Would he actually come out right and really attack or would he act as if I was an idiot to a fight?

"Nye heh heh!"

Papyrus threw his hand up into the air and three bones broke the ground. I sucked in a breath and prepared to dodge when I saw how slowly they approached me. I hesitated, watching them to see if they would fade from sight or move, but they just came at me like crawl. I easily sidestepped around them before they vanished.

So, he planned to treat me like a baby… typical…

I was irritated that he wouldn't take me seriously, however I knew I still looked pretty young. Angel said that would change once I started to feel 'cramps' and stuff for the first time and then I'd grow a bit more and become more… womanly like she was… it was just irritating that it'd taken so long.

Wait a minute… a breakthrough happened to cross my mind. What if I flirted with him? Would that throw him off his game? He was so confused when we last spoke and I told him about that… He seemed confused when Angel and Sans flirted with each other…

"Hey Papyrus!" I called out over the winds. "Aren't your legs tired? Because you've been running around my mind all day!"

Oh my god… that was the worst possible line I could have used… Maybe if the battle had gone on longer it would have suited better…

"W-what? Flirting?" Papyrus flinched as he watched me blow him a kiss, keeping up with the act regardless of how displeased I was with myself. Papyrus had an orange hue come into his cheekbones that had me almost laughing aloud if it wasn't for the fact that we were in a fight. He quickly tried to resolve himself and crossed his arms. Throwing out a few more bones at me, this time, slightly faster and around eight of them. "So, you reveal your ultimate feelings! Well I am a skeleton with very high standards!"

I quickly dodged the bones, sidestepping them with an eager grin settled on my face.

I held my hands to my mouth to emphasis what I yelled to him. "I can make spaghetti!"

Papyrus' jaw dropped in surprise. "Oh no! You're meeting all my standards!"

The tall skeleton sent out three more bones at me, again arriving at a snail's pace. I easily avoided them before waiting simply for the next attack.

"I guess this means I have to go on a date with you?!" Papyrus rubbed the back of his skull as he racked his mind for an answer. It appeared though after a moment that a thought came to him quickly from the return of his grin. "Let's date later after I capture you!"

I didn't have a chance to respond as his next attack came flying in at me. I dove away from them in record time as the bones were much faster then what Papyrus had done before which I wasn't used to. I quickly shook it off before looking back at the skeleton, waiting to see what he'd do.

Papyrus seemed slightly irritated as I stood there, ready to dodge, rather than attack him. With a finger to his boney chin, he contemplated his next move. "So, you won't fight. Let's see if you can handle my fabled blue attack!"

My eyes widened as nearly twenty bones I counted, coated in a bright blue color, came flying at me. I gasped and had to fight the urge to dodge when I remembered what kind of attacks these were.

They were just like when we faced that guy… Doggo I think one of the skeleton brothers called him. I kept myself still as the attacks flew right through me. I couldn't help but close my eyes, trying to will myself not to look and make myself move. The attacks won't hurt me so long as I don't move. Just stay still, Frisk!

I dared to crack open my eyes again as the last blue bone passed through me. Papyrus was wide open with a slight irritated look to him as I had figured out his little trick. I allowed myself to giggle at his expense before I felt something strange happen…

My chest… it felt so heavy. My movements felt sluggish and my head a bit dizzy. I felt like I was looking through hazy lenses as I watched Papyrus only a short distance away. He pointed back to me and I carefully looked down to the front of my chest where I saw the red heart that came out of me once when Toriel had healed me. Although… it had a blue hue around it…

This isn't good…

"Nye heh heh! You're blue now! This is my special attack!"

Without another moment to recover, bones of faster speed came racing at me. With my sluggish moment from the blue coating on my soul, I only just fell out of the way as three bones cut through the snow. I raced to my feet, struggling to stand under the weak feeling that'd come over me, just to jump over a thick row of ten bones that prevented me from side stepping. I landed in the snow again; it prickled at my skin and managed to slip under my jacket from the piles I fell into or the snow whipping it up under my clothing. The storm was getting stronger. Combined with my weakened limbs from Papyrus' magic…

I was starting to get a bit worried…

I breathed heavily, as if something similar to a cinderblock had been set on my chest, making it so impossible to breath. I glanced up at Papyrus who seemed to be simply throwing out attacks at random while an orange color darkened his cheekbones. However, I could barely see it as the wind and snow made it harder to see.

"What?" He suddenly noticed me looking at him and the color in his cheeks almost seemed to glow. "I'm not thinking about that date thing!"

More bones of complicated patterns began to show. Mostly white ones would come my way, but the occasional blue one would pop in, and I had to struggle to remember to hold still. The attack would fly thought me and I'd have seconds to breath before another wave would come.

"Don't make me use my special attack!'

Papyrus's warning nearly fell on deaf ears as I simply was focused on evading his attacks, trying as hard as I could not to hit the skeleton. I didn't think Sans would appreciate it, and Sis wouldn't either.

And… it's not like I've hit anyone before… Sis and I were taught to fight… but it just… never felt right… there had to be other ways to fight, right?

"I can almost taste my future popularity!"

Papyrus' eager words came over the wind while I struggled to keep up with the attacks as I had before. I felt like I was drunk, even I never had done that before. Dad let me sip some of his gross drinks when I was really little, just sips to see what they tasted like. Once I found out they were so gross and made me feel just like I did now, I never approached them again.

"Papyrus, head of the royal guard!"

He flung out his hands then, bones protruding from the ground or appearing right into the air. Many of them appeared and I forced myself to keep up with them as they darted at me. Elaborate set ups of bones provided little to no error as I darted between what groups came at me and hopped over the ones I couldn't evade on the ground. A sudden hit to my leg threw me to the ground and I glanced around quickly only to see through unfocused eyes that a small bone no taller than my ankle had hit me and knocked me over, the first wound on me. The sharp bone had cut a small little slit into my jeans and I could see a small bit of blood fall onto the snow. I felt it sting.

Dang it, that hurt Papyrus!

"Undyne will be really proud of me!

Bone attacks continued to overlap with both white and blue colors, Papyrus making it hard to find places to evade. When a tall wall of bones suddenly appeared as tall as Papyrus, I gapped at it for only for a few moments before I used my determination magic to jump over the wall of bones. Papyrus watched in awe as I did such a feature before landing. I continued to use my magic to negate some of the effects of him making my soul blue. The haze was still there, as well as the heaviness, but it wasn't as much of a burden.

I could actually fight more than…

"The king will trim a hedge in the shape of my smile!

That didn't stop Papyrus though, endless amounts of bones came at me again, breaking up the snow and forcing it to fly into the air. It reduced my visibility, even if I could actually comprehend it more and handle what was coming at me. The look Papyrus was showing thought was a rich blush before he spoke again.

"Will anyone like me as sincerely as you?

I flinched, seeing the onslaught of bones heading in my direction with no end in sight. What have I gotten myself into…?

Angel's Point of View:

Frisk had taken a long time to wash her hands as Sans and I waited at the front for her to join us to head back to the inn. We'd given her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she needed the bathroom as well and didn't bother her, merely giving her a good fifteen minutes to do what she needed to do. However, after that amount of time, I was getting worried.

"Sans, I'll be right back. I'm going to go check on my sister."

"Sure Angel," Sans merely shrugged as he stood by the door, watching the winds as they blew up the powdery snow on the ground. I'm sure he was judging if he should be walking through it or teleport us back to the inn.

"Bur! It's cold!" Another patron complained from at the bar. "Grillby, did you open a window with a storm coming in?"

I blinked in question. It wasn't like Grillby to do such a thing. It is always too cold to be able to stay out for long unless you were used to the colder weather. Frisk and I certainly wouldn't do well in any of those colder locations unless we had a warm shelter.

I managed to make my way back to the backroom where Grillby's bathroom resided. With so little customers, there was only one. I could see that it had been locked from the inside from where Frisk had entered it earlier on. I carefully knocked, curious as to what it was that took her attention away from her task.

"Frisk?" I hollered through the door. "Everything okay in there? It's been nearly twenty minutes. We need to go so Sans can check in on Papyrus."

No call came back through the door.

At first, I figured she just hadn't heard me. It wasn't a surprise from back in the old days that Frisk would listen to loud music while on the toilet, so it wasn't all that surprising that she lost herself to it. Perhaps she figured out some way to do that with the phone she had been given? I wouldn't be surprised, Frisk was much better at technology then I ever could be.

A whip of a gust of wind caught me by surprise as I felt it come from the area I stood at. With my waterproof shoes on, I couldn't feel the draft until it hit me square in the face. I blinked, looking around for the window the patron claimed was open. I couldn't see one.

I then reached down to the floor to feel where the draft was coming from, quickly feeling it from the very door I was standing before. My eyes went wide as I felt the frigid outside air coming from under the heavy wooden door.

"Frisk?" My voice was higher in pitched as I called in a bit more of a worried tone. I pounded on the door then, still met with no response. My fears got the best of me and used my determination magic to increase my strength to break the lock on the door and bust through.

I was quickly met with wintery air freezing my body that wasn't covered in my below freezing gear. I hurried into the room and quickly surveyed it for the smaller girl that was my sister. I didn't see her in the room and my heart instantly began to panic before my eyes rose to the open window only a few feet away from me.

I was numb for a few moments, unable to feel anything in those stunning moments.

Frisk… jumped out the window…?

What?!

"Hey! Damn it you idiot, don't you know how cold it is with the window left open?" A fish shaped creature shoved me aside to close the window over where a trashcan had been used as a stepping stool. The fishman brushed it aside as he slammed the window shut, locked it and stormed out of the room.

Ignoring the fishman, I turned on my heel and raced from the back room. Sans had hardly a second before I burst through the front door of Grillby's and landed out on the street, forgetting my jacket inside.

"FRISK!" The scream that came out of me, it was deafening. Yet it was hard to tell over the wind if it actually made any distance at all, toward wherever my sister was in this town.

"Angel?!" Sans appeared there next to me, holding my jacket in his arms as he latched an arm onto me while I wildly looked around for my sister. "What happened?"

"Frisk jumped out the window!" I could barely hear him over the wind while I yelled, hoping he could hear me. "I can't find her anywhere!"

"Shit!" Sans hissed out, but refused to let go of me. "She probably went after Pap! Get yer jacket on, we gotta go find them on the east side of town!"

Racing to pull it on, I hardly had zipped up before I was running with Sans and I latched onto each other. Any other time I would have demanded him to teleport, but I could only assume that he couldn't due to the oncoming storm and the snow reduced our visibility.

"Let's make sure they aren't home before we put ourselves out there too!" I barely saw Sans nod through the storm and he teleported then to the inside of his house. Suddenly everything was warm and I couldn't feel the piercing wind or ice on my skin as the fire roaring in the wall was working overtime to make sure the house was warm.

"Pap?!" Sans called out quickly. "Papyrus! If yer here ya better come out! Papyrus!"

"Frisk! Are you here?" My voice carried out, hoping and praying that my sister was here. Sans and I called for a few minutes before we realized that neither of our siblings were here. Quickly I ran to Sans, holding his arm to gather his attention.
"Teleport us out of here and let's look out in the spot he wanted us to meet up at!"

Sans quickly nodded and we were back out into the blizzard in a moment. Still gripped in each other arms, we trudged down the steps of the house and continued east where it seemed the storm got much more powerful.
