A glass bowl shattered upon the kitchen floor as she gasped beneath the power of his thrusts, her hand having knocked the bowl from the island as she caught her body from falling. He groaned into her neck, his teeth biting into her warm skin as he held her bare thighs in his hands, her skirts bunched about her waist. She grasped his hair with her free hand, clinging to him as he made love to her with no abandon, thrusts hard and deep.
She had been working late that week to catch up, doing her best to make up for time lost, and she had missed his call two evenings in a row. Even though she'd called him herself the night prior, by the third evening of missing his call, he was simply not having it. He drove to her apartment and surprised her with flowers and a passionate kiss…which quickly led to their current position; his pants about his ankles and her panties tossed across the kitchen, bodies throbbing at their connection.
She hadn't realized how much she needed him, as she had been living and breathing work for days and felt exhausted by it. Until he kissed her, she hadn't noticed how incomplete she had been feeling since the last time she left the villa. He completed her, in so many ways.
"Harder…" She moaned softly as he obeyed, thrusting harder than before into her welcoming body. He felt her walls clenching tightly around him, followed by a small whimper from her lips as her orgasm ripped through her body. She gripped him close with one hand while the other grasped tightly to the island counter beneath her, her body paralyzed with pleasure as she convulsed against him. She sighed as ripple upon ripple flooded her soul, her pelvis twitching with each wave crashing about inside of her. He pumped even harder, faster, as she clinched tightly around him. Finally, he cried out, body jolting as he came as well, filling her completely. He gasped as he continued to move, quickly finding her lips for a deep, sensual kiss. They each felt needy and reckless as they clung to one another, moving through the waves of the pleasure they had found, intense and deep.
"Well, look what we have here!" The lovers gasped, eyes quickly finding the entry to the kitchen. Ann and her boyfriend, along with their friend Jonas, had suddenly entered her apartment, clearly finding more than they had bargained for. The men quickly averted their eyes as the lovers untangled themselves, Georg quickly helping her from the counter before hurrying to pull up his pants and right his clothing. Ann watched in excitement as she moved to fill a kettle for tea, while Maria quickly pushed down her dress, hardly able to stand for her legs being so weak. "You know, dear, the counter is for cooking. I know it isn't your strongest suite, but…"
"What the hell are you doing here?" She was out of breath, her voice sounding shaky as she looked to her friend, completely shocked by her presence.
"Well, your first mistake was not locking the door. But we were talking about going dancing and wanted to invite you to join." Georg looked down to see her panties on the floor, and he quickly picked them up and pocketed them, not wanting to embarrass her even further by handing them to her in front of their guests. "I'm Ann, by the way. I would shake your hand but…I'm not confident about where it's been."
"This is Captain Von Trapp." Maria answered for him, as he seemed obviously disgusted by Ann's way with words. Had she not been so used to it by that point, she knew she would have felt the same. He simply wasn't accustomed to people speaking in such a way in his social circle, everyone being much more formal and polite. He found Maria's eyes, and she smiled as she went on to introduce the men. She noticed that he kept an eye on Jonas, who would have obviously been paired with her if the group had in fact gone dancing.
"Do you have a first name, or must I call you Captain?" Ann turned from the stove, kicking some of the shattered glass to the side with an eyebrow raised.
"You may call him Captain." Maria answered for him again, and he smiled at how protective she was acting toward him.
"Is that what you were just calling him?" Ann smiled, immediately thrilled at the blush that washed over Maria's face. Her heart was pounding from embarrassment, and she was unable to slow it down.
"You are welcome to call me Georg." Maria met his eyes, knowing how he loved to hide behind formality in mixed company. He kissed her cheek, smiling to let her know it was okay, as he stepped forward to speak for himself. "And you must be the coworker who likes to make Maria uncomfortable?"
"Oh, I live for it. Don't you love when she becomes so uncomfortable she begins to stammer?" Maria gave her a dirty look, doing her best not to think about the remnants of their love making dripping down her bare thighs. "Or that look! I get that one a lot."
"I do too, actually." Maria turned her look to Georg as the two shared a laugh at her expense.
"This is why you two have never met. Excuse me for a moment?" She smiled as she rushed to the bathroom to tidy up, grabbing another pair of panties from her bedroom along the way, as hers seemed to be lost at the moment.
She was nervous to connect the world of her friends with Georg. Not that she didn't think they would get on just fine, but they were such vastly different worlds, she had no idea how they could possibly coincide. He was used to people fawning over him, servants and parties where everyone knew of his triumphs and bravery at sea. With her friends, he would receive none of that treatment. In fact, she was concerned he may think her friends were a bit low class or trashy in comparison to the aristocrats he was used to spending time with. They were simply normal people, ones he would see on the streets, but never in a million years associate with.
She returned from the bathroom to find Jonas chatting with Georg upon the sofa while Ann and her boyfriend occupied the chairs across from it. He was apparently attempting to make Georg feel better about being walked in on by recounting the night he and Maria had met, trying to get to know one another by chatting in the front seat of the car, with Ann and her boyfriend becoming incredibly intimate in the backseat. Georg laughed, seeming to actually enjoy the story, or perhaps thankful for the hospitality of the friends attempting to make him feel at ease.
"Darling, why have you never introduced me to your friends?" She smiled as she approached, and he brought her to sit upon his lap as he wrapped his arms around her waist, almost possessively, she noted, but she quite liked it. She didn't mind him showing everyone she was his.
"Because she would have to actually open up and let us in to do that." Maria scoffed, not wanting to discuss her own difficulties with friendships.
"Let you in, you'll clearly just burst through the door."
"Had I known what I would see, I would have stayed quiet and watched a bit longer."
"You're disgusting, Ann." Georg smiled at their bickering, finding it interesting that they were friends at all with how completely different they were. But he liked how Maria was with her friends. She had her guard up, never one to really ever let it down, but she was real. She wasn't pretending or acting as though she felt inadequate, as she had always seemed to do around those in his circle. She was simply Maria. Certainly he could simply be Georg too, couldn't he?
"Speaking of secretive, did Maria tell you how some fancy, rich lady specifically asked for her at work this week?" His ears perked up at the words, and he felt Maria's body tense upon his lap.
"No, of course she didn't say a word. What a compliment." He met her eyes, and she gave him a smile. "Anyone I know?"
"No, I shouldn't think so." She smiled, ignoring the conversation altogether as the tea kettle began to whistle from the kitchen. Using it as her excuse, she stood from his lap and rushed to prepare the tea tray while they all continued to chat.
Her heart was pounding, as she had no intention of telling Georg about her run in with Baroness Schraeder. It wasn't that she thought he would change his mind and go back to her or anything, she knew they were secure in their relationship, but she simply didn't want to bring back memories of harder times for either of them. If the Baroness was only planning to be in town for her party over the weekend, then she would be gone soon enough anyway. There was no need to think any more about her, Maria decided as she balanced the tea tray and carried it out to her guests.
She felt pride in Georg as he loosened his tie and laughed along with her friends, allowing himself to simply have fun. He helped her pour the tea and moved aside so she could sit next to him upon the couch as they chatted, his arm wrapped around her shoulders. He would become animated here and there, causing her eyes to widen as she held her tea tighter to avoid it spilling on several occasions. She couldn't stop herself from smiling brightly the entire time.
She had never said it aloud, but a large part of her truly had felt out of place at the villa. She never felt out of place with Georg or the children, but she never could quite get over the idea that she was considered such a low class person compared to them. Georg was from an esteemed bloodline, whereas she was basically an orphan from the mountains. It didn't make sense what he saw in her…she sighed as she stopped her own thoughts, supposing they were a product of the Baroness' words replaying in her mind. Georg never seemed to mind one bit about where she came from, he loved her for being her.
"So, Georg, why do they call you Captain?" Ann sipped her tea as she prepared herself to ask anything she could think of; things she assumed Maria would avoid if asked.
"I'm a retired naval captain." He didn't elaborate, certain she didn't need many details to be satisfied with the answers he gave. It was quite like an interrogation, which he found very amusing.
"Retired? Quite a bit older than Maria, I suppose." He laughed, but Maria only buried her face in her teacup. She knew he was sensitive about their age difference.
"Yes, but I make up for it in spirit."
"When did you know you loved her?"
"Ann, honestly." He gave a gentle kiss to her cheek to stop her frustration, smiling to let he know it was okay.
"She came into my home as a governess to my children. She was incredibly undisciplined and outspoken, quite rude to me really."
"I wasn't, you blew a whistle at me."
"I'm telling it, darling." He patted her hand to silence her, and she laughed. "She was a complete contradiction of my entire life, and I think I fell in love with her the first time I saw her."
"That is so sweet." Ann held her hand to her chest, making eyes at her boyfriend, who clearly knew he could not compete with the love story at hand, so he merely smiled and took her hand. "How many children do you have? I know there are several, but I've only met the eldest."
"Seven total, two boys and five girls."
"Seven! My goodness, Maria, no wonder you're with child. You really should have known to be more careful." She tensed, unprepared for her friend to bring up anything about her pregnancy. She met Georg's eyes, who was surprised as well, before she looked at the other men in the room. "Was I not supposed to tell them?"
"You know you weren't." Maria did her best not to ruin the good time. "The children don't even know yet."
"I'm sorry, I thought we weren't crying about it anymore…oh, shit, I'm getting that dirty look again. Do lighten up, Maria." She sipped her tea, but Maria felt anger boiling inside.
"I trusted you would keep a confidence."
"I didn't tell the whole world, just these two, I swear. Anyway, won't you be married soon enough? Nobody will know the difference."
"You know perfectly well we will not." Georg looked at her puzzled, the weight of the ring box in his pocket feeling unbearable all of a sudden. He supposed he had thought the same as Ann. He was hopeful she was ready to say yes, but her attitude at the moment made him feel he had misjudged the entire situation. She ran a hand over her face. "Please don't tell anyone else right now."
"I won't, I'm sorry. Even so, who are you afraid will know?"
"Our boss is my landlady. You want to see me out of a home and a job before I figure things out?"
"We." Georg's voice was gentle, and she turned to face him, surprised by his interjection.
"What?"
"Before we figure things out." He corrected, and she felt herself blushing a bit.
"Yes, of course…excuse me." She stood and began collecting the empty teacups. They allowed her to go to the kitchen, clearly needing a moment to herself to calm down. In reality, she wasn't sure exactly why she had become so angry so quickly. She had been having surges of emotion for the past week or so that she could simply not explain. She didn't know much about pregnancy, but she was beginning to wonder if her hormones were starting to jump off track. It certainly was possible, she thought, but so early? Perhaps she was more upset about seeing the Baroness again the next day than she thought she was.
"Has she always been like this though?" Georg laughed at Ann's words, knowing exactly what she meant. Maria had changed over the years, due in large part to his own actions, he hated to admit. She was much more rigid than she used to be, reserved and strict. If he had to think about it, it seemed she had developed a defense mechanism similar to his own when his wife died. Albeit, she was still the warmest woman he had ever met. She was simply grasping for a sense of stability and control.
"She isn't really. Get her up in the mountains or put a guitar in her hands, and she is the most uninhibited woman you'll ever see."
"She plays guitar?"
"She does, quite well, in fact. She taught my eldest daughter to play."
"I was so certain she didn't like anything, including music." He chuckled, understanding a bit more about their friendship. It did seem quite one-sided the more they all chatted.
"And she has the most beautiful singing voice I have ever heard in my life. It cuts right through you."
"Cuts through fog, is more like it." Maria returned just in time to stop him from revealing too much, she hoped. She had the cat in her arms for a quick cuddle, but she immediately jumped down and ran away as Maria returned to her place upon the couch.
"I had no idea you like music. Maria, who even are you, really?" She rolled her eyes at Ann's dramatic words, but gave a small laugh. Sometimes, she wasn't all that sure how to answer that question herself.
