Two Worlds, Two Souls

Chapter 20: Know Your Townies

Extra Witch's Note: Remember that we have a poll for this story! Would love your input!

Angel's Point of View:

"NO!"

I snickered and rolled my eyes as I stood in the kitchen preparing a pie for the members of the house while I could hear them playing games in the background. It was a rare day off for Papyrus that he wasn't off and with Captain Undyne training. He actually had asked her for a day to stay home and spend with his 'cousins' and Sans, which Captain Undyne seemed to perfectly okay with.

So that led to Frisk and Papyrus playing games on the old system all day. Sans was watching from his comfy chair he had at the side of the couch. A book in his hands, but he truly wasn't reading half the time, rather opting to watch our younger siblings play and only appear as if he was readying.

"Ha ha!" Frisk snickered at him as Papyrus wallowed in his defeat. "I win! That makes three out of five games I won Papy!"

Papyrus, however, wasn't going down without a fight. "The Great Papyrus demands a rematch!"

"Oh?" The mischievous intent was something that almost was evil that came from my sister. And that was truly why Sans had to watch them. "Shall we do a… all or nothing then?"

"Yes! And I will beat you this time, Little Frisk!"

I carefully walked out into the living room where the two younger ones played their games together, providing enough life in the house for Sans and I while we rummaged about in our ways. Sans turned his head lightly as I came out, focusing on me as I approached and leaned my head near his to whisper.

"We should probably make them take a break after this," were my words to him. "I can't let her break Papyrus' little soul too much. And you know she would."

"Yeah, after this game, let's call it a break for a snack." Sans nodded at my words before he fully turned around and smelled the air through his nose hole. "Smells very lemony."

"That would be the pie I baked." I chuckled and leaned against the back of his chair. "Just watch."

Sans looked at me a moment longer before he turned back to the younger kids. For a few moments longer did we stare at them and the screen before the monitor suddenly had up the paused menu. Papyrus instantly complained about it 'ruining his grove' as he tried to beat Frisk in the racing game they were playing, but she sniffed at the air and a dead silence passed over us.

"Hold on Papy." My sister smelled the air a second time, as if trying to place the unusual odor in the air. Her eyes suddenly lit up and she turned to me. "Lemon sponge pie?"

A giggle escaped me as I nodded to her. "Lemon sponge pie."

"YES!" My sister flew from the couch and in to the kitchen behind me. "Come on Papy! You need a break from me beating you! Come eat this yummy pie with me!"

Frisk and Papyrus had become nothing short of best friends since we'd moved in together. The two of them spent little to no time apart when Papyrus was home. The two of them often were in debates, games or sparing. My sister seemed to enjoy teasing him. It took Papyrus a few days to catch on, but once he did, all hell broke loose.

The two of them were literally crazy from what I'd seen. However, it was a good kind of crazy. My sister always needed a release. I felt terrible that it had to be Papyrus of all people, but the cinnamon bun of a skeleton took it in stride. The two seemed to rub off once another and enjoyed each other's company, often sleeping over in Papyrus' room with stories read to them by Sans before the two would sleep together in his racecar shaped bed.

It was quite cute to see them do such together. I couldn't help but coo as I watched from the doorway as the two slept together.

Even if it made it hard for me to sleep most nights…

I hated to tell my sister or anyone else in this household, but I hated to sleep alone. After so many years of sharing a bed and being on the run. Keeping Frisk right at my side was a must in order to sleep even remotely at all. Though I couldn't ruin her new relationship of a friend of any kind that was closer to her age then I was. Papyrus was five years older than her, but acted about the same age as she at twelve.

"Little Frisk! Wait for me!" Papyrus dived after her, eager to see what held her attention so much. Papyrus had quickly come to understand that food was a constant drive for my sister. Anything that was remotely flavorful and filling. She loved many different flavors and was always begging me to cook or bake. Food was the only thing that could pull her away from literally anything.

I couldn't suppress the chuckle that escaped me as I watched the two. Sans seemed to follow suit as he glanced around the corner of his chair.

"Would you like to try a piece?" Sans' eye lights lifted up to meet me when I questioned him. "Before the glutton eats the entire baked good as you know she will?"

"Yeah, I'll take a bite. I'm curious what's got her so riled up." Sans easily stood, the book in his hands set aside in his chair to come back to. "Well… besides that food always seemed to lure her away from anythin', this one is different."

"It would be, it's our mother's favorite pie that she grew Frisk up on as a child." I smiled fondly of the memory when she got to try it for the first time and finally gave up on the idea of hating lemons when she was four. "It's an old family recipe that brings up a lot of good memories."

"Welp, that explains it." Sans rolled his eye lights in his sockets before walking with me to the kitchen.

In there was quite the sight for us to see…

My sister had nearly a quarter of the pie on her plate which she seemed to be holding herself back from inhaling. However, her bites were like a machine, quick and fluid as the object of desire was moved from plate, to fork, to mouth. Papyrus sat beside her with a much smaller slice, just to have a taste and not eat too many sweets and rot his teeth. Being a skeleton, his teeth could change color much sooner than my sister. He took a small bite before his sockets widened in surprise and he looked over at his brother and I.

"SANS! You must try this, Brother! Angel had made another amazing dish!" Another bite flew into his mouth eagerly. "It even rivals Father's sweets!"

"What?" The older brother looked at me skeptically. "Now I better try this."

I quickly swiped the pie before my sister could reach over and grab another excessively large slice and ruin her dinner. She pouted at me, crossed her arms with an ugly look to her face while I pulled the sweet closer to Sans so he could take one for himself.

Once a slice was within his reach, Sans took a bite of the pastry. He hesitated for only a moment before the lights of his eyes widen in surprise. He glanced over at me in stunned silence. A rare treat indeed to have any of the occupants of this house on a more silent avenue.

"I have no words…" Another bite flew into his mouth before it seemed he could stop himself. The younger siblings watched on with glee, giggling at the eldest male of the house. Sans merely glared at the two before turning back to me. "It was sweet of ya ta make this, Precious."

"Ugg!" Papyrus' head flew to the table, making Frisk squeal as she raced to grab what remained of the pie on the table, only a few bites left of the taller skeleton's snack. Careful fingers reached for the fork on the plate if it hadn't of been for my glare at her. "No puns Sans!"

"Alright, alright… that's enough." I placed myself as a barrier before any arguments could ruin the atmosphere we had going. "Go on and finish up your pie, Papyrus. Before my sister eats it."

"No! Little Frisk!" The hurt look upon the skeleton's face was more than enough to make my heart melt at the sheer force of how saddened he looked. "I thought we were friends…"

"But-but Papy?!" Frisk waisted not time to pout back at him with equal force. "My sister's food is worth just about anything in this world! I can't waist it if you're going to do nothing but yell at Sans!"

"Oh boy…" I sighed before rolling my eyes and turning away. Within a few moments, I'd swiped the remaining couple of pieces of pie left on the counter and set them in the refrigerator (with what little space there was that I would be very soon clearing out) before taking out the second and third pie I'd made a short while before.

"Another pie? TWO?!" Frisk was at my heals in moments if it wasn't for my magic holding her back with a chain wrapped rightly around her stomach to keep her from falling or hurting herself. "No fair Angel!"

"This isn't for you, Frisk. Neither of them is. I'm going to pass them out to Maria and Bernie for their kindness they showed us since we first arrived here. I also plan to make one for Grillby and his family once I pick up some more lemons. I miscalculated and I'm short one for another pie." I sighed before wrapping up the two items in protective containers the brothers had stored under the cabinets.

"Oh, that was nice of you to make those for them!" Papyrus praised me before yanking his plate out of the reach of a devious little girl that sat with him at the table.

"Do ya even know how ta get ta their places?" Sans questioned skeptically, carefully licking the fillings off the bottom of his plate.

"I know how to get to Bernie, but Maria is another story." I hesitated for only a moment before I fully turned to him. "I was wondering… if you'd show me where she lived?"

"And leave these two baby bones on their own?" Sans gave me quite the dumbfounded look. "I'd rather not find the house on fire when we get back."

"Sans, the Great Papyrus is perfectly capable of keeping our house in order while you're gone." Papyrus stuck out a magical orange tongue at his brother. "I've done so for years!"

"Yeah Bro, I know, but it ain't just ya anymore. It's also that little mischievous brat ya call a best friend."

"Hey!"

"He's not wrong Frisk." Raising an eye brow at her, Frisk only could pout as she lost the argument to us older folk. "However, I'd like to believe you'd be okay for a short hour while I deliver these with Sans' help."

"Of course, we will. Frisk and I will stay in the living room and play more games until you return, and the Great Papyrus will make she does not eat anymore sweets before dinner. She's had quite a bit as it is…"

My sister snarled at her loss. "Cheater…"

"So…" I turned back to the eldest brother one more time. "Shall we?"

Later That Day:

"Thank you for coming with me Sans." I sighed as we slowly walked along the snowy roads of Snowdin's streets, barely lit by street lamp as the crystals above began to dim as the afternoon came closer to night. It would seem the crystals could tell the patterns of the sun from above and reflected that in their lighting patterns in the underground.

Sans was closely walking by my side. He'd been a bit unsettled as we left the two youngest on their own, which was something that'd we never done before, but were willing to give Papyrus and Frisk the benefit of the doubt that the house would still be standing when we returned home.

"No problem, Precious." Sans had his hands shoved into his pockets while he walked beside me. His feet hardly left any indents in the snow with his slippers and small feet hidden in his socks. "Been a while since we've been without the baby bones."

I snorted. "I don't think we've ever allowed the two of them to be on their own."

"Nope." The chuckle that escaped him made me laugh as well, keeping us warm as we walked the snowy road.

"So how far away is Maria's from Bernie's?"

"Not far, just around the corner." Sans pulled a boney phalange of his to point down the road further back past where the inn was that Frisk and I stayed at for nearly two weeks before the skeleton brothers allowed us to move in with them. I actually had no idea how close Maria and her family had been to us when we stayed there.

Sans took his time as we traveled down the road to a semi large house that was a tad smaller than what I could remember of my first impression of Sans and Papyrus' home. It was brighter in color, a silverier worn look to the wood that protected those inside from the cold. I could see Christmas decorations through the window and wrapped around out on their porch that led to an outdoor Christmas tree.

Sans led me up the few steps that led to the front door, however, before I could knock, the front door swung open widely and the tiny bear stood in the doorway, eager to see us.

"Miss Angel!" Milly was at my side in a moment, yanking on my jacket and trying to pull me into the house. "Mommy! Miss Angel is here with Punny Sans!"

"Oh Milly, honey, don't yank on her!" Maria was quick to fly out of another room into the frontal living room space where I was pulled into. "Oh Sans, come out of the cold! Milly! Close that door!"

The little girl obeyed her mother before rushing around me, pulling in the bonehead I dragged along and closing the door.

I gave a look to the skeleton. "Punny Sans?"

"What can I say?" Sans shrugged with a glint to his eye socket. "I'm a pretty sans-ational guy."

I tried to hide my snort behind my hand, which failed miserably before the skeleton who fed on humor alone along with ketchup.

"Oh, it's so wonderful to see you Angel!" I turned away from my walking companion to find myself in the arms of a fluffy bear. Maria hugged me tightly and I had to struggle to hold the pies out of the way to avoid them getting crushed. "What a surprise! What brings you two here today?"

"She comes bear-in' a gift." I hid my face in Maria's arm to prevent myself from bursting in laughter.

"Sans!"

My cry unfortunately was muffled by Maria's arm as I shook.

"What's the matter Precious?" I could hear the pure enjoyment in Sans' voice as he hovered near by, just by my ear while I held onto Maria. "Is this that un-bear-able?"

I couldn't breathe… I was shaking in Maria's arms as she struggled to hold me up as well as the pie container that I held. With a quick swipe from my fingers, I felt the package be removed before my knees collapsed under me.

"Sans! She can't breathe!" Maria gasped as the skeleton, trying to hold my body up as I hid in her fur. "You know how she is with your puns!"

"Opps."

"Now help me get her to the couch."

I felt a boney hand lift under my legs and lift me into the air that had me scrambling to hold onto whatever I could. I had never been carried before, not since I was a young child, or the one time where Papyrus carried me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes…

I couldn't believe where I actually was…

Sans had me lifted up into his boney arms. I was very surprised in that moment since Sans had never actually appeared physically strong to me. He didn't put in much physical effort very often, and when he did, I could see him including his magic for assistance or struggle slightly. However, it was hard to notice those little details when Papyrus nearly did everything for him.

In that moment, it seemed I had gripped Sans' clothing in order to hold onto as he had literally swept me off my feet. One arm had been thrown around the back of his shoulders, vice grip on the hood of his jacket, while the other actually had reached through the small opening of his tee-shirt to grasp his clavicle. He was holding me up, but I could feel the pull on my soul to help him. The light glow in his left eye proved that when it had a faded blue hue in the socket and his right one seemed to almost vanish.

I always wondered about why his right eye never appeared when he used magic…

I couldn't tell in that moment if Sans was more shocked then me at what he'd done…

And then a smirk came to his face.

"Damn Precious, didn't ya know were fallin' for me that hard."

"All of that for a pun?!" Maria's words weren't missed as Sans laughed, still holding me in my stuttering state.

But that time, determination flowed through me and I didn't disappoint.

A chain of mine shot out from the hand that was over Sans' shoulder and grabbed the back of the couch that sat in the frontal area. Sans' cry was loud, so startled by the events he didn't even realized I'd used my magic, dragged him over to the couch. Not until he fell into the cushions and I landed on top of him did his tune change and his socket's widened in surprise as I sat on top of him in triumph. Part of his jacket had been removed in the struggle and my eyes locked with eye sockets.

"Couldn't help myself, Darling. You're quite a-peeling."

Milly was in the background, laughing at us from what I could of her holding onto her mother. Her giggles floated through the room actively while her mother could only shake her head.

"Honestly you two…"

"Pft…" The snort that came out of Sans a mere ten seconds later was the prize at the end that I'd done even a half decent job of a pun. He burst out laughing once more, lifting a hand to cover the tears that slipped in his laughter.

Giggling at him, I tried to pry his arm away to see him. "I might not be good at puns, but I hope you appreciate just how much I tried with that one."

"Don't worry Angel, it was plenty bear-able."

"Oh God!" My head fell to his ribs to contain my squeals.

"As much as I'm enjoying this embarrassing show of you two flirting with one another…" Red flushed into my cheeks as I lifted my head to look at Maria who looked torn between a stern mother and an eager friend to see what would happen next. "I don't think either of you two want to be around when Robert gets home, or Will, in that kind of romantic position you have yourselves in."

I dared to glance back down at Sans below me, seeing a rich blue hue in his cheek bones. He wasn't looking at me, but I could feel the hesitance from him. I quickly stood up from the couch and offered him a hand. He took it easily enough and I yanked him to his feet before we stood before the mother and daughter in their home.

"Now, what can I help this comedic pair with?"

"I actually was brining you something as a thanks for all your kindness Maria." I glanced around the room again in search of the items I'd brought with me. I saw they had been moved around the back of me where an open floor living and kitchen room sat, sitting on a beautiful white stone as a counter top. It wasn't the traditional granite or anything from the surface, but rather something that resembled the stone of the underground with flecks of glowing crystals within them to give a light glow in the house that had no lights on. Their kitchen was entirely white in color, their walls covered in shiplap that were painted in the same shade. Open shelving was above for bowls and glasses, while closed ones with glass doors were for the bottom half to see what was inside before opening. Maria had a beautiful view out to a backyard from her windows that led to a small playground.

I hurried over to the package that was set of her countertop and pulled out one of the freshly made pies for her to see. "I hope you don't mind, I made you and your family a lemon sponge pie."

"Oh, how kind of you!" Maria hurried over to inspect the treat. "Oh, this looks lovely! And my Robert loves lemon; I'll have to give him a bite of this later if Milly and I don't eat it all."

"Can I have some now, Mommy?"

"Go get a couple plates Milly, we'll need to taste test this." We walked past the living room that had grey hardwoods floors and rich scarlet furniture surrounding a Christmas tree and TV off before the large window at the front before stepping into the kitchen. Maria gathered the utensils needed to cut and serve two small pieces for herself and her daughter before taking a quick bite.

"Yummy!" Milly cried out before greedily taking another bite. "You made this Miss Angel?"

"I did," I crouched down to be closer to her level of height. "You like it?"

"I love it!"

"Slow down Milly, it's not going anywhere." Maria sighed before taking another bite of her own. "But this is wonderful, thank you for this sweet treat Angel."

"You're welcome. I just hope that Bernie will think the same thing."

"Bernie? As in the inn keeper?" Maria glanced over at the remaining pie before looking back at me. "Dear, I hope you have more than just that one pie to feed her family."

I blinked at her. "What do you mean?"

"She has seven children."

"Seven!" I gasped, amazed at how the woman seemed to raise and have so many children when my mother struggled to have just two.

"Oh yes, Vinnie won't be home, so you shouldn't have to worry about the eldest, but the rest still are home. The triplets, Abe, Al and Addie who are in their earlier twenties. Then there's Reny who's… nineteen I think. Finally is Bernie's youngest two, George who's fourteen and Theo who's eleven."

"Not to mention…" Sans added in with a twinkle in the light of his sockets. "Vicky's got eight herself."

"Eight?!"

They gave literal meaning to the phrase 'multiply like rabbits…'

"…wow…"

"Yes, perhaps you may want to make another pie or two before you take that over," Maria suggested.

However, I could only shake my head. "I'll still give it to her, if I take it back, Frisk will eat it in moments of seeing it. She's very addicted to sweets. So, I'm hoping that making them more often will slow her down or cure her craving for a while. It makes me worry that's she's nearly ready to start her cycle…"

"Cycle?" Milly glanced up at us adults in question. "Like a bike?"

"No sweetie, Frisk is growing up." Maria rubbed the top of her daughter's head. "I'll tell you more about it when you get older."

"Awe…"

"Welp, we better get movin' Precious." Sans moved over to the door and cracked it open to start heading out. "We gotta drop that off at Bernie's-"

Sans suddenly stopped talking then. It was strange to see his attention held elsewhere as he stood in the doorway, letting in all the cold air. His face slowly changed from a somewhat startled look into something that was of anger, though he tried to hide it behind a stoic face.

"Sans!" Maria chided him. "Close the door!"

"Sans?" I approached him carefully, nearly ready to stick my head out the door if I didn't feel the rough shove against my soul holding me in place.

"Don't come near the doors!" Sans teleported back in seconds, closing the door quickly behind him. He approached me with a serious look in his eyes, the right one glowing brightly. He held my shoulders and helped to steady me as he released me from the hold of his magic before stating two words:

"Stay here."

I didn't get the chance to argue with him as he vanished, teleporting away.

"Oh dear…" Maria was quick to pull me back. Her arm curled around me and sat me down at the couch with her daughter. "Stay here you two, I'll just take a peek and see what's going on."

Milly pulled on her shirt before she could leave. "Is something bad happening Mommy?"

"…I don't know, honey. Just stay here with Angel."

Maria hurried off to the front door. Quickly she glanced through the window to down the street, wherever Sans had been looking before his untimely depart. We watched the older female for a few moments longer before she seemed to gasp and look on in fright.

My heartbeat began to quicken. Someone of the royal guard was here…

Or worse… someone knew we were here…

"It's Vinnie…" Maria pulled back from the door to turn back. "It seems he's come home early to see his mother and siblings. This isn't good."

"Maria?" The woman turned back to me. "Is he-?"

"He's a member of the royal guard. The only one from Snowdin in recent years, so it's always a bustle when he comes home." I heard her lick her tongue as she debated on what to do. "Sans is trying to stall some time by asking them questions. He's trying to figure out what Vinnie's plans are."

I felt dread settle into my already fast beating heart. "Do you think he knows?"

"I… I'm not sure…" Maria hesitated before she turned to look at me on the couch with Milly curled into my side, hugging me.

The little bear tugged on my jacket sleeve. "Miss Angel… are you leaving us?"

I hesitated with my answer for a moment before I brushed her fur on top of her head. "I may have to for a bit. The royal guard can't find my sister and I or else we'll be hurt. Do you understand Milly?"

"Yes…"

"Sans is moving away!" Maria suddenly turned back to us in an instant. "You'd best be ready to head back. He will more than likely teleport you back to their home. Do you have a safe place to stay?"

"Yes, up by the ruins. We have a friend up there." I quickly pulled out my phone. "I'll call her and have her be ready for Frisk and I. We'll leave as soon as we gather some of our things."

"And I will keep watch." Maria turned back to the window while I raced to pull out my phone and dial Tori's number.

I hoped to all above that she was near her phone…

A few rings passed before I heard the click of the phone turning on. "Hello?"

"Tori!" I let out a sigh. I was actually able to reach her. "Oh, thank goodness!"

"Angel?" She hesitated for only a moment before going into mothering mode. "What is it, my child?"

"A royal guard member just appeared in town. Frisk and I… we'll need to lay low for a while… could we… come back with you for a while? Until whatever this is blows over?"

"Of course, my child. I'll get the doors open shortly. Let me know when you arrive."

"I will."

The call ended then, hardly lasting more than thirty seconds for the information to be sent across one receiver to the next. I let my head fall into my hands then as I tried to control my emotions.

But I'd be lying to myself I said I wasn't sick with worry.

A flash of blue caught my attention as I lifted my head to look. Sans had reappeared before us in the living room while I stayed back on the couch like I'd been asked, much as I wanted to run that second. His sockets landed of me and quickly held out a hand for me to take.

"We gotta get you out of here, Angel."

"I know, Maria told me that a royal guardsman was here? I've already called Tori. She's expecting Frisk and I."

"Good." My hand landed in his and I was yanked to my feet with the help of his magic. "We'll head home, ya can grab your stuff, and I'll take ya back up to the mountain. Can't risk wastin' much time. Vinnie could find out yer here."

"Is it bad?" I almost didn't want to ask him that question, but I needed to know for how long we needed to hide away in the mountains with Tori before we come back and try again. We already were slowly becoming friends with others. We already had a small group of friends going. I was eager to keep and expand that, but not at the expense of my sister's safety.

Sans didn't respond right away. The look on his face was more readable then before. It wasn't as harsh as I had seen before he'd teleported away. He looked away from me, opting to face our hands that were still held together rather than my face.

It was either really bad that he didn't want to say, or he didn't know.

I couldn't tell then what worried me more of those two options…

I briefly turned back to Maria while Sans kept his hand in mine to teleport at a moment's notice. I reached out, as if to hug her, but Sans kept me in place. I knew there was no time, but that didn't make the dreadful feelings go away that wished would subside. "I'll get your number later from Sans once things have calmed down. We'll be back."

And like that we were gone.

Teleporting was new to me. Sans tried not to use it too often on Frisk or myself since we weren't used to it. Papyrus was fast enough that he could just run and keep up with Sans compared to the rest of us that had to be brought along. Frisk tended to just jump on the shoulders and let the younger skeleton run her around town with not a care in the world while I stayed behind with Sans to be teleported by the eldest brother.

It made me dizzy, and forced me to stumble back if it wasn't for Sans to catch me. I felt his other hand hold my side to assist me in standing when we appeared back in the living room of the boys' house. Frisk and Papyrus were exactly as we'd left them, in front of the game system playing together.

Frisk jumped when we first appeared, while Papyrus could only sigh, used to his brother's constant appearing and disappearing.

"Hey Sis!" Frisk paused the game they were on before she hurried up to me. "Are we gonna make dinner now?"

"Not now Frisk, we need to grab some of our things and get ready to go." Once I was steadier, I turned back to Sans and nodded to him. He then released me and I hurried toward my sister, roughly grabbing her hand. "We need to go back with Tori for a little while."

"But-" Frisk paused when she saw the look on my face that I was not to be argued with and this was a serious ordeal. Papyrus even looked up cautiously at us. "What should I grab?"

"Just the basic things, we need to hurry. Tori has more clothes for us, only take what you desperately will need for a week or more."

Frisk nodded and she ran up to our room. I hurried right up behind on her heels. We shoved the door open to the room we'd been given by the brothers and dived to grab the backpacks we'd taken with us when we first arrived in Snowdin nearly a month ago. I tried to leave items in the bags so that if we needed to leave at a moment's notice we could with little worries about our supplies.

Frisk quickly grabbed her phone and the bag, looking at what was in it before she hurried out of the room for her coat. I followed a similar pattern, making sure I had our phone chargers to keep the devices alive to talk to the outside world for when (hopefully) we could go back.

With all the items on hand that were needed, I flew down the stairs to where Frisk was getting on her jacket and boots. Papyrus had her phone in his hand which he rapidly added his number (and I was surprised they'd never done this before) and handed it back to her.

"I will make sure to message you every change I have Little Frisk, please do the same for I."

"I will Papy!" Frisk flew forward to leap into his arms and hug him tightly. Papyrus returned the affection before he slowly set her down and the taller skeleton hugged me next.

"Please come back… you promised to teach me how to bake."

"I will Papyrus." I rubbed the back of his head to try and sooth him before I had to pull back from the worried looking skeleton.

With our goodbyes in place, I turned to Sans who seemed just as worn as if he'd done five all nighters with no sleep. We knew this would happen. I guess… no one of us wanted to admit that it could or that it would when we moved in together. That we might have to be separated to keep us safe. It was quite the risk that Sans and Papyrus were taking to house us. And normally just in Snowdin that wouldn't be a problem, but when others came from other areas, it was very concerning.

"Come on ya two; let's get ya safely tucked up in the ruins." Sans held out his hands for us to take. I grabbed one and Frisk grabbed the other before we looked at lonely Papyrus one final time, a tear escaping the side of his socket before we vanished from the warm home and a gust of wind slammed into as all, making it hard to see in the sudden darkness.

When I cracked open the lids of my eyes to look, holding onto Sans to steady myself, I saw we were standing right before the ruin doors. They were cracked open, an inviting light from Tori to help guide us inside.

Frisk quickly latched onto Sans then, hugging him tightly to herself before she let go and rushed inside, no words to be said as she slipped in the doorframe, hiding the tears that dripped down her face.

"Damn it…" I heard Sans mutter as he rubbed the back side of his skull before turning to me. His expression, he looked so upset, but he refused to say anything. I could feel how angered he was in his soul.

I pulled him closer to me then, holding him tightly in my arms. He stuttered for a moment, not sure if he should hug me back or not while I pulled him tighter.

"We'll come back, to both of you."

I could feel a small surge of happiness in his soul after those words and he hugged me back. The need to be close to one another outweighed any embarrassment in those moments.

"Good, I don't know what I'd do without my punny partner."

I didn't want to let go…

"Angel!" I turned my head, not wanting to let go of the skeleton while my sister called out for me. "Come on! Tori says a storm is blowing in!"

I held Sans for a moment longer, holding him tightly to me before I released my grip, pulling back from him. Sans looked at me with a dull expression as I pulled away. I turned and hurried to the door where Frisk waited. She pulled my hand and yanked me inside, but not before I turned back in time to see my friend's head drop as he teleported away in a blue flash of light.

I couldn't stop staring out there at where he'd been, even after Tori closed the ruin doors…

Witch's Note:

My god that was a wild roller-coaster of emotions! We went from a playful atmosphere between the younglings, to being romantically punny, then losing our shit over being caught, then longing that we wished the wait was over.

Damn, I am not kind to these characters…

But anyway, what did you all think of that chapter? The highs! The lows! The first bit of fear! A royal guard came to town! What a terrible occurrence! And now everyone is separated! That's not fair!

But maybe if we're lucky, it won't last too long!

Now onto our reviewers!

ShunGod: How about this one? Got any comments for this or if we met the same quota? I feel like we might have risen the bar quite high…

RoseCentury: Well that's good to hear, hopefully no one bit you tonight when we read such a drastically changing pace chapter!

Ceoko: So that eventual doom that is the fish will take a bit of time to see or meet. But she will come forth at a future point. So, you have plenty to look forward too! Mystic Girl is commenting very loudly in the background that oh yes, you have a lot to look forward to!

Alright! So now I hope you all enjoyed the craziness and look forward to the next chapter! Also, don't forget to review and perhaps you all will vote on the poll we have! As mentioned last chapter, we have one up to ask about your current favorite character out of our fantastic four!

Mystic Girl suggests (demands) that you all vote for Frisk. I certainly wouldn't mind if you voted for Angel, but we all know that perhaps there is some people out there that perhaps love the skeleton brothers much more then either of our characters combined.

Love you all and see you next week!
