Two Worlds, Two Souls

Chapter 59: Constriction

Frisk's Point of View:

It was nearing three weeks since Angel had lost her arm in Hotland and I couldn't lie and say I was okay. The time I spent with Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys and Sans kept my mind off of things, but the always existing question came back every time I was able to think. No longer being distracted by others.

When would Angel wake?

The atmosphere seemed to take on a darker setting about it once that thought hit me. I hated to think that way, since I knew my sister needed time to recover, but I was getting a bit impatient. I wanted my sister back…

It was day twenty-two and it was honestly a switch between shifts. It was almost bedtime for me and I was grabbing a quick bite to eat before heading up to lay with my sister. Papyrus had just woken and had come down to eat with me before we switched. Sans would be on the next shift after I'd slept.

Everyone was down together, even Undyne who yawned and struggled to keep her head up when she promised to train with Papyrus for a bit before she went to bed. Her golden eye dropping before she bobbed her head, then repeating the process.

Alphys and Sans were on their fifth or sixth cup of coffee. It was time for the day shift to start and the two of them had been up strait for the last thirty hours. I was surprised that Sans hadn't keeled over yet, he normally would succumb to a nap before then. Yet he stood wide-awake, looking over charts of information on my sister from the results of all of her tests during her time resting.

He so cared about her. Sometimes it was a bit insane.

I yawned and stretched in the pajamas I had on my body. "Alright… I'm heading up."

"Oh, so soon?" Papyrus looked somewhat sad at that, but I would see him again in eight hours anyway. "Oh well, good night then, Little Frisk!"

"See ya tomorrow, Punk!" Undyne's response tried to come out energetic, though she yawned at the end, making me roll my eyes. Alphys giggle behind her tiny hands while she set down the documents she was working on with Sans.

"D-do you need a-anything before bed?"

"No... I'm just tired." I waved her off. "I'll be fine until morning. I'll need my rest before I practice some more. I wanna try my hand at more of the songs your mother wrote, Undyne."

The beaming smile on her tired face really meant a lot as I stood up and stretched, ready to just curl up with my sister.

"Alright Kiddo, I'll walk up with ya. Gotta check the fluid bags on yer sister."

Papyrus gave him a look. "Didn't you just do that two hours ago, Brother?"

"Meh." Sans merely shrugged.

"Oh my God, you really do love her, don't ya bonehead?"

Undyne's comment had Sans' face darker in color then his own jacket he wore. It was difficult to hold back the giggle in the back of my throat that escaped as puffs of air between my tightly pressed lips. It was good to see someone else teasing Sans, and it was someone who couldn't get grounded!

"Brother?" Sans reluctantly turned to Papyrus who held a concerned face. "Why not tell Angel of your feelings once she wakes? Would it not ease some of your troubles?"

That caused Sans to turn an even darker hue. "Pap! W-why would ya even-? I-I can't..."

"Sans and Angel sitting in a tree~" I couldn't help the song from slipping past along with some giggles.

Oh did that made him mad.

"Grounded!" Though his flushed teeth did he manage to spat out the word.

"He he!" I hid behind Undyne who was closest to me. "Worth it!"

"Y-you'd b-best run off n-now Frisk." Alphys tried to use a sterner tone with me. "Go o-on to b-bed."

"Okay, okay..." I pouted, but knew she was right or else I wouldn't be happy the following morning. "Night everyo-"

I sucked in a tight breath.

It burned as I felt it travel through my esophagus. But that hardly mattered as I felt the intense pressure from further in the lab. It was... an overwhelming pressure... like I was suffocating under a blanket of it. Goose bumps I could feel on my arms while from where I stood.

I've felt this before... but it feels so intense...

Did she...?

"Frisk?" I heard Sans call from behind me. "Everythin' okay, Kiddo-"

"Don't move!" My shout had them all shooting up, awake in an instant from my shouting. All of them wore stunned faces as they watched me in worry. "Can't you feel it? The pressure?"

"Frisk," the stern tone that came from Sans as he approached me even as I attempted to hold up my hands and pray he would stop. "What the hell are ya do-"

That's when Sans stopped, also just as still as the rest of us. He quickly glanced to the room where my sister rested and his sockets widened.

"You feel that?" He turned to me, a very unsettled look in his eye. "It's Angel. She's using her magic to search for us! No one move and keep as calm as you ca-"

And that's when it happened. The squeal of metal bending under the weight of something. We all glanced up at the door above us and saw it bending in under the weight of an unknown object.

But I knew.

My sister's magical determination knew no bounds.

With a screech, the door flew from the hinges that held it in place and hid the secret hallways behind it. I couldn't stop the screech that escaped me, Sans arm wrapping around me quickly and teleporting me back with the others. Quickly reacting, Papyrus and Undyne summoned their magic to form a shield around us while a red glow came from the back room.

"No!" I looked back to them wildly. "Put them away! It's Angel's magic!"

And from the door came a flood of red chains.

It astounded me how Angel could summon so many. Her chains, you could almost call them like feelers around her, like an animal that would use touch or scent to tell them if something was bad or not. To sense the intent of another. My sister's magic always spread out beyond her in sporadic chains that I think she wasn't always aware of at times.

It was how she sensed others, how her soul was so potent. Her chains that we saw now normally weren't so filled with magic that we could see them, but Angel must have been feeling some strong emotions if her chains were visible to the naked eye without pushing magic through them consciously.

They coated the walls; the ceiling and the floor within moments. Down the escalator they came. Within seconds the entire lab was surrounded while Papyrus and Undyne struggled with listening to the order I gave them.

"Put them away!" I quickly hissed at them. "Stay calm! They're going to try and grab you or lock you in, and that's okay. Just keep calm. She's worriedly looking for us."

Twisting out of Sans' hold, I pushed myself into the chains. I heard multiple screams of fear around me, but the chains cushioned my fall and latched on quickly, recognizing my magic and my soul that they read quickly. One chain in particular wrapped around my wrist and the entire moving world of chains halted, reading me in query.

"It's okay, Angel. I'm okay."

Only one other time had she been like this. I had been lost in the woods when I was nine and separated from my sister in the midst of a chase. Police had found us and somehow, we were split. Angel's chains stretched across the entire forest in her search for me, knocking out officers in her wake. She wasn't quite sane until she had me at her side again.

It was then that she hardly ever let me travel on my own until nearly three years later, just shortly before our fall into the underground…

"I'm right here, Sis." Letting the chains flutter around me, they kept constantly feeling me over for any sort of wound or negative feelings. "I'm coming to you."

A with those words spoken, a soft tug of the chain had me carefully walking to where the chains had emerged from. They didn't expand any further, but I watched in fascination that they didn't exactly leave either. I could see the others had nervous faces as I was pulled away, but the smile on my lips when I turned to face them must have put them somewhat at ease.

This was my sister we were talking about. She would never hurt me, at least, not intentionally.

Following the white hallways that led up to where I knew she was resting; I saw through the small divots of chains that she had caused quite a bit of damage in her tussle to find me. The walls were torn open enough that sparks I could see flew between the gaps of magical metal that my sister controlled. As I approached any of those sections, Angel's magic pulled me away, knowing there was danger there in store for me.

The observation room was in shambles. My sister had managed to shatter the thick glass that kept her safe as well as monitor her behind it as to not disturb her. Many nights did we watch over her from that room while someone was with her physically to keep her from the nightmares and make sure she rested.

Then came the inner door that she'd wreaked too. It lay on the floor in a balled-up heap, crushed in on itself in her hast to get somewhat free and find me. Carefully stepping around it, I stepped into the door way and looked upon my sister.

It took all there was in me not to run up to her in relief and or worry.

Upon the bed my sister sat, her gaze appearing somewhat dead before she lifted her eyes to meet my own. Angel gripped tightly at the sheets, struggling to move after not doing so for three weeks strait. Where she could not move, her magic could, and I felt it bring me closer to her.

"Angel!" Not needing any more encouragement, I nearly flew to the bed and captured her in my grip. She responded back as strongly as she could in her weakened state and held me with the single arm that remained on her. I saw she was struggling with how to move her partial arm that remained on her right side. The stump that came down to her elbow she could do nothing with.

I had no idea how she would struggle in the months to come…

"F-frisk…" Her speech was broken and croaky, though the relief in her voice was there. She struggled with forming words as she sat there, thought the changes I saw were quick, the thickness of the chains that had been summoned had lessoned and she was able to recall back some of her fear and hid them from the naked eye. Though as she had a few moments to think, she looked around to the room in question. "Where…?"

"We're at Alphys' lab." Her gaze visibly softened when she heard the name of the shy lizard friend of ours. "When I couldn't reach Sans or Papy… I tried calling her and she came right to our aid. She' been helping us for the last three weeks since she brought us here."

That caused my sister to nod. She approved with that information.

"Papy...? Sans...?"

"Their downstairs, they were with me when you grabbed me. I told them to wait until after I talked to you. Calmed you down." Pulling back from her, I held my sister's hand while she looked at me tiredly. "They came right after Sans heard my messages. He's... been so upset with himself from what happened. We didn't know if you'd wake up..."

I struggled with holding back the sob the echoed in my throat, threatening to turn into a full out crying fit. Angel gently tried to pull me toward her for a hug, holding me in her arms. I felt such comfort in them then compared to all the other moments with her there responding to me rather than when she was a in a coma.

"I have so much I have to tell you about, Sis! So many things happened while you rested." I breathed heavily, the relief just pouring off of me in waves as I finally knew that we'd be okay. "I did the impossible! Undyne is my friend! And she wants to be yours too!"

"Un...dyne...?" My sister paused as she glanced to her arm in response to those words. She then gestured to herself. "But... hate...?"

"Everyone that cared about us, defended us, Sis." When I heard the story from Sans and Alphys later on, I was beyond stunned how the entire town fought for us again, even Vinnie had finally stood by our side and stood up to his captain to protect us. "She's been getting me back into music! She has a piano that I've been playing and Sans offered to teach me the trombone! Isn't that cool? Oh! And I can use my magic better now! I can summon up to ten chains!"

My sister smiled as she watched me. She eagerly sat there, watching all my moments in silence as I tried to tell her as much as I could in a single breath. When I'd run out of air, I breathed deeply and my sister I'm sure would have giggled if she had the strength to.

"Oh! Let me get the others!" I slid out of bed and pulled just out of my sister's reach. "I'll go get Sans, Papy, Alphys and Undyne so you can see them all, okay?"

She offered me a quiet nod, looking a tad more nervous than before.

"I promise Sis, I'll be right back. If I'm not back in five minutes, you can drag me if you want."

And that seemed to be something she could agree to. Another nod and a chain wrapped around my wrist before my sister allowed me to leave the room she was in. Though I could feel her intense stare in my back as I left down the hallway.

I popped out on the other side to see my friends hadn't moved a muscle. When they saw me back, relief came to all their faces.

"Come on!" I waved them toward me. "Angel wants to see everyone!"

"S-she's awake?" Alphys gasped as she hurried to grab some items next to her. "O-oh g-goodness!"

"Come on! Everyone needs to come, even you Undyne!"

That caused the fish woman to blink at me in surprise before everyone herded toward the door. All but Sans, who teleported to my side. His hand landed on my shoulder and his sockets looked like they were watering at the edges, showing his relief.

"She's really awake?"

"Yeah, but don't teleport in. She just woke up and can't talk really well. I don't know how well she's absorbing everything. We shouldn't startle her after her last stunt."

"Sure Kiddo, ya know her best."

I led the charge back to the room. Within moments did I end up back in the entrance to the room where my sister sat up in bed. She carefully looked over at the door and seeing me again left her relieved, however, when she saw Sans, her eyes glittered with tears that threatened to fall.

I had no idea if she was happy to see him or scared he'd yell at her again.

Sans saw this and his footsteps immediately stopped, worried he'd upset her more. I felt the irritation set plainly on my face and turned to face Papyrus. He showed me an equally sour look. With a quick nod to each other, we shoved the older brother forward.

"What the hell?!" Sans fell flat on his face. He landed with his slipper covered feet in the air and his jacket fallen over his head, exposing part of his spine and hips. We giggled at his struggles while he glared at us.

"Sans..."

My sister reached for him then. He glanced up, watching her outstretched hand shake like a leaf as she struggled. Sans took a moment to compose himself before standing. He carefully stood next to her left side, and the hand she had remaining latched onto his coat.

"Hey there Precious."

"Darling… you came."

Even under the stares of all others in the room, my sister slowly lowered her hand to grab one of his that hid in his pocket.

"Wasn't… sure… see… again…"

My sister leaned into his ribs, her face hidden in the fluffy edges of his jacket. The way that Sans glanced back at my sister, who couldn't hold back the tears that slipped from her eyes, that look I'd never seen on him. That look of utter suffering that I bet he believed he caused. The older skeleton lowered his head onto hers, wrapping his arms around her.

"I'm sorry Precious…"

"It's… okay…"

Sans lifted his head to face her, but my sister refused to let go of him. She held him close, inspecting him.

I could see him wither under her intense tired gaze.

"Tired…?"

"Nah, Precious. Just working too hard."

He tried to pull away then, but Angel refused to let go. My sister turned to Papyrus and I, her eyes already telling me her unasked question.

"He's been up for the last thirty hours!"

Sans turned on me in a fury as his eye light quickly turned blue. He hurled me into the air upside-down. I squealed and tried to use my chains to hold me still as they dug into the floor.

"Brother!" Papyrus chided him. "That was uncalled for!"

"Put 'er down Sans!" Undyne chimed in, the scaled covered woman getting angered by the events.

"E-everyone! Calm d-down!" Alphys tried to stand between each other to calm the crowd.

And that's when everything changed.

My sister's magic flooded the area, the chains suddenly becoming visible as they flooded the area. Everyone cried out in shock while my sister separated everyone. I watched Angel wrap her chains around Sans, distracting him enough that I was dropped from his magical hold and fell to the floor, being caught by other existing chains already coating there. Sans was yanked into the air and thrown on the bed with my sister. Once he was sitting there, my sister laid back down, resting once more with her hold on him, a hand latched onto his collarbone so he could not move without taking her with him.

The hue in his face was so blue~

I struggled to hold back the giggle as my sister seemed to silently tell Sans to stop his behavior. He gave me a deadpan look before facing back at my sister. Her left arm held him in place while her eyes told him all he needed to know.

It was time to rest.

"We shall leave you two be." Papyrus was quick to urge all of us out of the room. Lights were dimmed and I saw my sister fall back asleep, her chains fading from sight while Sans sighed and leaned his head back, succumbing to his tiredness.

As both slept comfortably in the room, I smiled at them. Even if I did enjoy teasing Sans all the time, it was nice to see him and my sister together again. I knew their relationship would be a bit rocky after all that happened, and with my sister recovering, but if anyone could get past it, it was the two of them.

Witch's Note:

Oh boy… was anyone expecting that of all things? We all knew that Angel had woken up last chapter, but damn! Isn't it great any time we get to see her actually use her magic? She doesn't do it often for others to see, but this certainly was awesome!

She might not all be there yet, but Angel has come back! Now let's just see how her recovery goes…

But now, our reviewers!:

RoseCentury: Rose! Oh, my goodness! Congrats! Seriously! That's amazing considering everything that you and your partner went through that you told us about! Man, you may never want to get pregnant again after having three little ones to run after. Hope you got some hands to assist with all those lovely little ones! And Mystic and I get it, no rush on revealing the genders. When you guys are ready, then we'll be excited to hear! So excited to hear our weekly updates!

MysticBoy: Ha! Yes! Angel is back in action. Hope your enjoying it and thank you for holding back on your anger for Robert. I know you want to kill him and a few other characters, but do hold it in. Robert has some upcoming scenes about… ooo! Ten chapters! But I'm note giving out any hints!

Me: You hear that Mystic Girl? You better keep your brother in line.

Mystic Girl: But Halloween! Its so much fun seeing it all unravel!

Thechaosmaster: Chaos! Oh, I'm so happy you loved the chapter with Undyne and Frisk in character development! And Angel coming back has been something I've been looking forward to for a while. In case you can't tell, Angel is a version of myself and Frisk is much like Mystic Girl. And as for the recovery process… I don't want to say much yet since I've got some twists on that! I shall share no secrets!

Also… which Mystic are you talking about now? I got two of 'em! I can't tell them apart in text! SAVE ME!

Mystic Girl: Excuse me Halloween! You should know which one of us he's talking about. I am very different from my brother!

Not A Shady Guy: Oh Shady, thank you for those kind words! And yes! We're so happy to have more reviewers too! And that fourth person you're talking about I think is Ceoko. They show up every now and then, but not often due to a busy life, I think.

But besides that! Yes! Frisk's love for music, more back history! Oh, how it broke my heart to write about that piano being smashed to ever loving pieces along with the violin by their terrible uncle! He's not even alive and he's still ruining their lives from behind the grave! It's great!

And as for the healing process, like I said to Chaos, I want it to be a surprise since I got a few up coming twists that are related to that, so my lips are sealed! You'll have to wait, but the next six or seven chapters will really focus on her recovering and some mini arcs. My only hint to you and the others is that chapter sixty-two is one to really pay attention to and perhaps make some predictions. Out of all that is told in that chapter, one of the mini arcs will actually be a much larger arc. Perhaps about twelve chapters versus the others will be say three or four.

God damn it! No more hints! XD

(My best friend slaps her hand over my mouth) Don't more give any more secrets!

But we're also making it into the later chapters! Oh, I can't believe how much we've done! People we're literally two-thirds into the story! No! I don't want it to be done yet! But I've got about thirty chapters written in the second book! Hope that keeps you all excited!

Love you all and see you next week! And Merry Christmas from us both! Or Happy Holidays if you celebrate otherwise!
