Two Worlds, Two Souls
Chapter 62: Foretold
Unknown Point of View:
Little did the humans know that many events would soon devour them whole in the midst of the underground. Angel's ploy to befriend all monsters would be challenged once again by these events. Yet, would others help her? Those that have acknowledged her and her sister's existence, would they be pushed to the brink and no longer offer their support? Would they give up on those they deemed as 'friends'?
Or would friendship bloom? Only time would tell as their cover was blown, or if they had lost their way.
Alphys' Lab:
"Oh, Alphys dear, you have been hiding a very special secret from me for far too long…"
Alphys' lab was abandoned at the moment. It was during the very time the good doctor had ventured out with the friends she'd made toward the spa and hot springs area. When she casually enjoyed a day off in peace with her friends, another was snooping about, finding something that no one wished for this particular monster to find.
"Oh my~! How delightful!"
The monster in question used their metallic hands to type at the keys of the lizard monster's computer. They were accessing the record history of videos dated back to October of the previous year. On that day in mid-autumn, an unusual creature emerged from the ruins. Clad in warmer clothing to protect their fragile looking frame, the monster noticed just how… human they looked. Their skin was so pale, it rivaled that of the skeleton's bones that appeared beside this creature.
And oh, there was a second one that appeared only moments later!
The monster giggled with glee, searching through the evidence of the months with no doctor to stop them like the last eight months. Alphys had always been in their way, sending their attention elsewhere. She was constantly there, not allowing her friend through to see the one creature she was enamored with.
Well, that had changed rather quickly.
The striking beauty that had been known as Angel the human, along with her rambunctious sister Frisk, were led into Snowdin. A small sleepy town on the edge of monster population in the underground. Few would find them there, hundreds of miles of woods to hid in, as well as the famous comedian Sans was on their side. That skeleton was protective of the girls, as well as his much gentler brother Papyrus. The two kept them hidden from public eye while they slowly acclimated the humans females to that of the monster world.
The monster watched as months flew by in the recordings, they watched hours of tapes just to learn more about these amazing creatures that stumbled into their world. As they watched, they noticed how just those humans thrived. How they spoke with other monsters as if they were the same species!
How ludicrous, and yet, so spectacular!
As the months sped by, they had begun to make their way into the Waterfall area. Making friends with those that lived in the moist climate seemed to spread rather quickly, even as they disguised as Ravie and Sitka the skeletons. It was a good fib, no one seemed to notice them, as there were others in the same crowd who also hid their forms, either due to scars or their own comfort. Perhaps even beliefs?
Yet, as soon as the humans returned home, from what that monster could see from the edges of the windows, the humans removed their cloaks when they were home, or in the town of Snowdin. It seemed there was the only place yet that they felt entirely comfortable to go without any protection.
And then came the disaster.
During a late night travel, the human girls encounter the royal guard captain, Undyne. The older woman proceeded to follow the girls all over Waterfall, using every chance that she could to destroy or capture the two humans that had made it into her home. The humans surprised this monster that they did not fight back, yet that wouldn't help them.
Either one of those humans could be the final soul needed to break the barrier.
As the night quickly changed over from late evening to early morning, trouble occurred. Young Angel hit her delicate looking skin on acid mushroom. It secreted… well… acid, as it burned right through her flesh. Before the end of the night could come, Angel had lost nearly half of her right arm.
Just about the same time that Captain Undyne had given up on the chase.
Yet the damage was done, the poor human had to cut off her own arm in an attempt to save herself. Her darling sister had to watch the entire thing before it seemed that she got ahold of the great doctor herself.
And that was where the feed ended, at least for a few weeks.
It was another hour of watching before sighting Frisk near the captain's house much later, with Papyrus with both females as well. The older human nowhere in sight.
After more jumping through the records was it seen that all of them seemed to live out of Alphys lab during those two months that the older sister was hidden. The monster cursed themselves for not knowing. It was during that time that Alphys had specifically said she had a very dangerous project that was working on the core and that her lab would not be open to anyone without special permission from the king. When the research was over, as well as repairs, Alphys would let that monster know.
But she lied!
To protect those astonishing humans from harm, she closed down her lab for months, not allowing many at all to join her. She would leave the lab to check up on other projects, but never allow anyone into her own lab and home! It was infuriating!
And yet… it made sense that the little yellow lizard monster was keeping the humans all to herself.
But that she could do no longer.
"Oh Alphys darling, it seems that your cat is out of the bag!~"
Snowdin Forest:
The wind howled as it always did in the Snowdin Forest. It created such a whistle, such a ruffle between the trees branches that it sounded like the winter location's own song. It stretched over the trenches until it made it from the ruin doors all the way to the border of Waterfall's cavern complex.
A wisp of color could be seen in the night, only slightly visible as the crystal's light faded from above. Their form was so intangible, only those with a keen eye or strong magic sensory type would know that they were that.
That was the price for those that were dead.
No longer could they feel the warmth of their beloved, or the cold of the winter. They were no longer bound by the mortal magic that kept monsters and anyone below the earth's surface from reaching the sky. That person had been lost long ago, yet their spirit stayed behind. Through sheer determination, and perhaps the experiments they had used on themselves when they lived.
Yes… that's most likely what it was.
But their own resolve had been a way to force whatever was left behind of themselves to remain, glued to the little town that he'd moved to when he was young. Where his family had grown. This monster had a wife they'd lost early in life. She hardly made it past the age of twenty six. Then there was their two miracle sons. Both of which they'd had trouble with during the birthing process. Having skeleton children was never an easy thing, but it did more damage to that monster's wife then it should have.
He watched his two sons grown into find young men, both in life and after death.
He couldn't seem to allow himself to depart after things had gone so terribly in their lives. Oh how the echoes of pain radiated off the monster's eldest son. His youngest had learned to live with it, often assisting his elder brother as best as he could. Yet, the eldest held onto pain so easily as it had scared him. How he lost his mother young, how he'd lost his eye, how he'd lost his father all before a true coming of age time when he'd turn eighteen.
This monster could not stand to suffer in silence any longer, regardless of the fact the of their passing.
The young girl was the key. She was a sensory type. He'd watched her, seen what others could not as her magic would pulse from her body and coat the walls and pathways with her own magic. How she used it to determine the feelings and desires of others. It was much like the web of a spider, should you not progress with care, you were caught in her grasp. She could very easily dispose of anyone within a hundred feet of her.
Yet, she restrains herself.
Every day was a constant battle with her magic. The human woman wished not to hurt others, yet the more she desired, the stronger her magic became. It was a difficult balance to find. Her chains were a constant test against her resolve. Could she live freely as she had, or would she be a threat?
She had proven that she had discovered the balance, even after all the struggles that had shaken and shaped her. She was worthy of the attention this monster wished to bestow upon her.
Doctor Windings Gaster had to then approach the woman, and discover just far her determination would stretch.
Waterfall Research Center:
"Alright man! Show us how it's done!"
Social equality within a high school setting was always terrible. To feel involved, to not be hated or picked on. The second that this young monster agreed to inhale the powdered substance this older teen provided, his troubles all seemed to ease away. The substance he ingested numbed all his senses, made things feel so easy. Even when they were bad, they didn't hurt.
Nothing could go wrong.
The large group of people cheered him on, taking on a much larger amount of the substance. It was laced into the handmade cigarette this monster was burning, though it was so concentrated that purple smoke came out of it and the poor monster's nose. They coughed in response, sucking down so much always hurt initially, but the sweet bliss and addiction of the aftermath always made the small amount of pain worth it.
"Yo dude! Pass some ta me!" Beside this monster sat their best friend. Just like themselves, he was involved in this drug infested area. The stress of test and owning up to family expectations always got to the two of them. Their recent new friends had offered a new way for them to cool off, and it was glorious.
The two of them started off nervously trying one or two, and the first time they performed using the drugs that were provided, it didn't end well. They couldn't go home since it was ever so obvious that they would be caught. So the two easily slipped into a third party's home for the night, claiming it was a 'sleepover' before attempting to look half presentable and build up a tolerance.
"Hey Babe… don't forget to share with me?" Stunning eyes of amethysts sat to this monster's other side. Their arm was grabbed, hugged closely to the female's large bust while they struggled to pass her the blunt.
Their girlfriend purred out in approval before sucking on the very stick that was just in their mouth. The feline monster mewed in sexiness before crawling right up into her partner's lap. Stealing a kiss, she grabbed the butt of the cigarette from her partner's hand as the males around the two of them cried out in displeasure.
"Oh man! No fair your girl's sexy as hell."
"Damn! Come over here kitty! Give me a piece of that!
"Ey! Sexy lady!"
The cat calls were endless while the once shy and pitiful set of friends were now the life of the party. Involved with many people they never would have associated with three months ago, doing things they never thought they'd do before.
Just before the calls got much worse, an older male showed up with a bag that he handed off to the young adults. The head teen of the group grabbed it and grinned.
"Thanks Pops! And hey! Here's the next payment."
The older male stopped only long enough to grab the money from his apparent 'son's' hands. Counting the coins quickly, he paused and stared at him.
"You're short for what I gave you."
"Yeah, it's Oscar who owes me. He was supposed to bring it tonight. Hasn't showed yet. Everyone's all caught up though."
"And if he doesn't?"
"I'll take care of it, no one's gonna cross us."
The older male paused, a darker gleam set in his eyes as he stared down at the one who was deemed his family. He didn't need to vocalize his frustration nor hesitation with that fact.
"I know Pops, if he ain't caught up by morning, I'll take care of it, like we did before."
A stiff nod was all he received before the older male was gone from the room in the lab they were given to fart around.
Yet the monster who watched them interact could hardly register their conversation. So far gone already into the smoke and powder, their sense of urgency and worry all but forgotten. They didn't notice the snide comments, nor the snarls.
No, there was no danger while being in the midst of a drug circle.
Not at all.
Hot Springs in Waterfall:
"Ey Precious? I gotta do an errand before headin' home." Sans the skeleton approached his long time roommate, Angel the human, just as she adjusted her robes over her form. She looked at him, eyes wide before nodding.
The flash of the eye light of Sans was all it took to show Angel that this was a matter that resolved around their secret jobs and the judge and jury. It caused her to easy up quickly, Sans often spent a lot of time with the king in reporting around the kingdom or simply just to chat. The two of them had known each other for the last decade. Sans met the king back when he was young, his father still lived at the time.
"Of course Sans, we'll meet you at home. We'll go craft dinner then." The human female turned back to the others. "Undyne! Alphys! Want to come back to our place for dinner?"
"Hell yeah! Let's do it!" Undyne reached around to grab the little lizard monster. "Come on Al! Let's head out!"
"O-oh! U-undyne!" Alphys cried out as she was carried away by the captain. "WAIT!"
The scientist' cries fell on deaf ears as she was carried off. The two youngest of the group rushed off after them while Angel could only shake her head from under her hood.
"We'll see you at the house then."
Sans offered her a salute before he used his abilities to teleport to the front of the king's castle. It was rare of the king to call him, especially on a day specifically given off to them by that very person.
Sans took his time making his way up to the throne room. He'd never admit it, but every time that he came to that place in the latest of months, he was worried that he'd been found out or that humans had been discovered living in the underground. It wasn't getting easier to lie to the king, someone he held in such high regard for so long.
"Ah, Sans! There you are, old friend."
The call of the king carried across the entire room before Sans could walk before him. Standing at attention in the court was no one. Only the king seemed hidden back where his thrown and his flowers grew.
"Sup?"
"I apologize for brining you out here today, especially when you were just spending it with family and friends. However, something has come to my attention that I need you to get on as quickly as physically possible."
"And that is?"
"A set of humans have fallen into the underground."
And that was exactly what Sans was worried about.
Word had finally spread to the king that Angel and Frisk were living in the underground. Sans would have to think on the fly, depending on what the king asked of them. His mind raced a mile a minute while he cleverly needed to respond just right to keep ol' Fluffybuns from finding the girls, or harvesting their souls.
"I see…"
"It was brought to my attention a short while ago, by another of the jury. Yet, they were very… hesitant to give out information. Apparently these humans have been living here for quite some time and wish to integrate into our society."
"Kay… how you wanna handle it then?"
The king hesitated for a moment, rubbing a hand to his chin as he debated. "If they are acting much like any of our citizens, taking them out or removing them perhaps could cause an uprising. We are already in such a frail state, we can't afford that. The entire mountain could fall onto our heads in explosive opinions."
"Alright?"
"Sans, I can't afford to let my people suffer here, not when we're this close. But I realize just how many monsters value them as… one of their own." Asgore paused, hesitating with his next words. "Have you me these humans?"
If Sans was ashamed for not telling his king sooner of this, he didn't show it. "…Yeah… I have."
"Is there a reason you did not tell me?"
"Wanted more info before dumpin' it on ya. And… uh… they were livin' with Tori for a bit."
Asgore's eyes widened and his fist slammed on the throne's armrest. "With my-"
Sans quickly held up his heads, showing peace. "She's fine… in fact… the girls have been good ta her. She's been held up for a long time, but she lets them come and go as they want. She talks with them just about daily, I think. They lived with her, left for a while, and then came back every so often. Made her really happy."
"Even Tori…" the king's face was hidden by his large paw. He was unsure of what to do as he sat there. A deep sigh escaped him. "If anything were to happen to those humans, Tori herself would destroy the underground in her attempts to kill me."
"Yeah, that sounds terrible."
"Have you interacted with them?"
"Yeah, good few times."
"Would you say that they are good people?"
"I think they're good enough that we should let 'em have a fair chance." Sans only shrugged as he looked on at the worn king who was unsure of what to do. "They're not like humans we've heard 'bout. They're kind, selfless, even been good to m'bro. I… can't find any fault with 'em."
"Very well… I will give them a chance." Asgore lifted himself from his thrown to walk among the flowers. "Keep your socket on them Sans, report anything out of the ordinary to me. At some point… I will later on need to meet them, and decide their fate. Leave me now, I need to rest and think of what you've told me."
"Course Fluffybuns, ya got it."
Sans turned on his boney heels and left, eager to return home and warn his friends and family of what had taken place.
Asgore knew the humans were there, they had to tread even more carefully than before…
Witch's Note:
Yay! Oh, I've been waiting to post this chapter for so long! I'm so eager to see what you all have to say for this one. So, we've got four extra characters that are going to have their own arcs with the girls! Does everyone know who these four are? Only three should be pretty obvious, one of them I left ambiguous for the purpose of their arc, because it's the least likely person you're going to suspect!
But I do have a hint… it includes the bear all of you want to murder/protect.
Mystic Girl: (Slightly buzzed from knocking back a few drinks) BEAR MUST DIE! BEAR MUST DIE!
Me: Yes, we hear you, get back to work!
Mystic Girl: Bitch.
Me: You know it.
Let's see the madness fall out!
And now onto our reviews!:
Mystic Boy: Okay, deep breaths now Mystic Boy. Deep breaths. Last I knew no one was being discriminatory. We're all here just to enjoy a good story and have fun, right? Get to know each other a bit? At least, that's all I'm looking for. Also, I did mention in earlier chapters that this story is a slow burn my friend. You won't see them get together until… just about the end of the story! But I promise its coming! Be patient!
Mystic Girl: We've both seen all sorts of people with those disorders. We have family members and friends who have those conditions and we know how much of a struggle it is to deal with it. So, it's okay that you have that disorder, it's okay. Just remember, we'll kill the bear soon, I have a plan, so we have to calm down a bit. Let me just run really quick by Halloween before that happens. Because she is top dog around here… Isn't that right Halloween?
Me: Yes ma'am! (Smiling sweetly at my best friend while I crack my fingers in glee, ready to crack some skulls if needed.)
Thechaosmaster: Awe! See Mystic Girl! He wants to put this whole thing aside. Now be a good Mystic Girl and accept it.
Mystic Girl: Yes Halloween… as you say, as you request. I'm sorry Chaos, I didn't mean to offend if I did. I call a truce as well.
Me: But so happy you loved the chapter! Yeah, Angel's past with her uncle… it wasn't pleasant. I wanted to reveal just enough to give people images but also make the image more vivid because we, as readers, didn't know. And I'm so glad you enjoyed the bit about Sans' eye! He's always depicted with one eye while Papyrus and Wingdings had two, so I had to make a story about it at some point or another!
RoseCentury: Awe Rose! You got such a great support system helping you! So glad to hear it! Now don't let your emotions get too riled up and rest while you have your little ones! Before you know it, they'll be here. And try not to get too mad at your family helping you, they just want you and your little ones to be happy and healthy.
Dasansi: Why hello there! A new reviewer! Its lovely to meet you and thank you so much for reviewing! And I love how you enjoyed our most recent chapter that focused more on character development of our dearest Angel. When she lost half her arm, it messes with natural weight distribution throughout the body, therefor, it made one side of her body heavier then the other and it always had her feeling like she was of balance. She had to understand and compensate for that on her own before she could include her magic or that could make her recovery that much longer than what it so far as been.
And even if she was to get a prosthetic, the wound has to be entirely healed over and the person who had that wound recovered before they add it on. If they aren't allowed that time for the skin to close over before a prosthetic is attached, the skin could break back open and recovery could begin all over.
Sorry for getting so detailed on that, but at least that's what kind of research I did before writing those pieces. And as for Sans and his eye, it was more or less a reason as to why only one of his eye lights would turn blue when he used large amounts of magic. Compared to Papyrus or Wingdings when they had both their eyes glowing, Sans only had one. It was my interpretation of the situation. Sorry for any confusion!
Mystic Girl: Hi there! A new reviewer! Oh yay! Hi! Hi! Hi!
Me: (Yanking back on her shirt to pull her away from the new person) Okay, I know this is because of the drinks, do I dare ask how many?
Mystic Girl: Just two!
Me: (Sighs in annoyance) I am so sorry…
Not A Shady Guy: Shady! Yes Shady! Speak the truth! I am not dealing with another war!
Mystic Girl: (Sigh) As much as I want the bear to die, we can't take another war. I will control my brother. Even if I really want the bear to die. (Turns her head and whispers in secret) THE BEAR MUST DIE!
Me: (I sigh in frustration) My lord… and when I think of all the other characters you guys are going to try and hunt from under me it's kinda scary… because there's more. There always is…
In the second story I'm writing, Mystic Girl already has another character she's ready to absolutely destroy…
Mystic Girl: There will be a war for them, Halloween! You can't hold that off forever!
Me: (Ignoring my best friend) But I'm so glad you liked the last chapter and enjoyed the stories from Angel and Sans respectably. It always pulls at my heart strings when I write things like that! I hope I can keep up with how much pressure I'm under from under you guys…
Alright, another chapter and you guys all know what's coming next now! But who's first? Whose gonna come forward and present themselves to Angel and the family? I'm so excited to see what you guys are guessing!
Love you all and see you next week! Don't forget to review!
Halloween Witch
Mystic Girl: Bye!
