Two Worlds, Two Souls
Chapter 64: Logic Unknown
San's Point of View:
Took hours for the storm ta finally calm down. Papyrus and I spend a good long while helpin' out with movin' the snow. Well… he did more than me. Papyrus did enough work for the both of us. I got tired out just watchin' the guy.
I chilled with Grillbz at the counter. Sara rested ta the side, carryin' the small little bundle that was their newest child. Grillby the fourth was curled up in his mother's arm, drinkin' in the warmth her flamin' body produced. He'd only been born a short while ago, maybe three weeks old at best. Little guy was given the middle name of Natsu so we wouldn't confuse 'im with his dad. Fuku and her mother adored 'im ta bits while Grillbz looked on in adoration.
The new babe had been born earlier the planned. Sara was on bedrest, not allowed ta assist her husband for the next month while she looked after 'im and got her strength back.
"Sans!" My attention was dragged up away from the little babe ta my brother. Pap scowled as he stood feet away, a shovel in hand. "You could help, you lazy bones!"
"Meh, then I'd get in the way of the Great Papyrus."
"Thank you for being considerate, but that will not save you from work."
"Damn."
"Sans!" Grillbz was quick ta gather my attention. "Normally you know I wouldn't make a fuss at your choice words, but I have both of my little ones here, not just my wife."
"Sans, perhaps you should head back make sure all is well at home?" Sara suggested quickly before either Grillbz or Papyrus could get even more pissed with me. "I know that Angel's home alone right now and she hasn't been for quite some time."
"Yeah, I'll go do that." With a dramatic sigh, I got off the bar stool I sat at. Almost immediately did my bro roll his eye lights at me.
"Really Sans? Any excuse to get out of work?"
"Awe, come on Pap." I grinned at my baby brother. "It's a lot of work ta keep Angel outta trouble."
"Enough Brother, go on. The Great Papyrus will remove the rest of the snow alone. I will make sure the paths are properly marked and cleaned now that this storm is over with."
I saluted at the lot of 'em. "Aye aye, boss!"
I had just a moment ta see Pap stomp his feet at me before I teleported home. The sounds of silence reached my skull the second I'd landed in the livin' room. I could see a couple of paintin's that she'd been workin' on that day, one of them I could still smell wet pain on. She musta only just finished one of 'em.
"Hey Precious? Hope its snow bother that I came home early?"
I chuckled at my own little pun while I waited ta hear her laughter. She normally was a mess a giggles as soon as she heard me. She'd holler from wherever she was and I'd teleport ta 'er. That was normal interaction for us.
But that time, I didn't hear 'er. A sigh left me as she didn't hear my joke. I causally walked inta the kitchen, hoping that maybe she just didn't hear me. It happened on occasion if Angel was really focused on somethin'.
Steppin' inta the kitchen, I looked 'round for any sign of her. I saw 'er brushes at the sink that she musta been cleanin' out before I got there. I could see 'em dryin' ta the side on paper towels. 'Er jar for water was also there, laid on its side. She wasn't in the kitchen as I glanced 'round.
"Precious?" I called out when I didn't see 'er. "Angel?"
Steppin' out of the kitchen, I teleported upstairs. It wasn't likely that she was restin'. She really couldn't nap without someone restin' with 'er. I knocked on 'er cracked open door and peaked inside. Once again, I was met with nothin'. She wasn't there.
I sucked in a breath, tryin' ta keep calm. Angel had ta be somewhere in the house. We'd just had a blizzard outside. She always lets me know when she heads out. Fingers dug inta m'pocket ta grab my phone. I checked over my calls and texts, she hadn't sent me anythin'.
"Angel?"
Again the house was quiet. I couldn't hear 'er.
Teleportin' ta the basement next, I scanned over the experiments left behind by my father before hurryin' ta the secret room I had in the house. My magic was already pulsin' in worry, I was able ta open the door in record time ta see it empty.
She wasn't in the house…
"Fuck!" I couldn't even think properly as I teleported ta the ground floor. She left no note if she was travelin' anywhere. "Shit! Gotta… try callin' her…"
Phone in hand, I rang her number. It rang the normal eight times, eight long and annoying rings later, her ringtone came through.
"Hello, this is Ravie the skeleton. Sorry I'm not free at the moment, but do leave a message and I'll return your call as soon as I can."
I ended the call, hissing out as she didn't pick up. I repeated the process again before teleportin' away ta places in town she might have traveled ta.
About once a week she'd head ta the library ta gather books for Frisk ta use when teachin' her. I tired there first ta see the entire place empty. The building had been closed due ta the storm. I found out when it was pitch black inside and only the crystal glow on the snow outside the windows gave me any light.
I tried the grocery store next. She was often down there twice a week for supplies for cooking and/or baking. While the store was open this time, customers were few ta none. I scanned each isle before stalkin' ta the front. Sometimes, Angel would get caught up in talkin' with the cashiers or manager that she was good on with. They all weren't even focused on me as I trekked through their store, just the storm's endin' and all the snow outside.
I then tried Bernie's. Angel was always brinin' over baked goods for the bunny woman ta add ta her rooms when someone stayed with 'er, charging a few extra gold for the services Angel was now providin'. Oh, they were busy, all the kids I could see outside in the snow shovelin' it away while Addy was at the front.
"Hey Sans-"
With no sight of Angel, I teleported again.
Maria's house was next, though I was becomin' more paranoid by the minute. My soul hammerin' in my ribcage as the seconds passed that I couldn't find 'er. I knew Frisk was there, she'd gone over before the storm started hours ago. I landed in their entry way ta see 'er happily playin' games with MK and Milly.
I stalked off deeper in where Maria sat in 'er kitchen. I could barely see Robert out on the porch, shovelin' off the snow while Maria busied herself in 'er kitchen. My eye lights glanced around quickly for any sign of Angel, only ta see she wasn't there again…
"Sans?"
My gaze focused on Maria for all of two seconds before I turned away and cursed. She came out from 'round her counter ta approach me.
"Is everything alright? You seem upset."
Shakin' my skull, I stepped closer ta 'er so the kids couldn't hear me. "I can't find Angel…"
"Oh my goodness…" The sharp gasp that came from her was all I needed ta know. Angel wasn't there. "I assume you've been looking around the town?"
"Everywhere… I can't find 'er, or reach 'er. Phone's goin' strait ta voice mail."
Maria knew just how bad it could be if Angel was missin'. She was still a human in the underground. Anyone could have taken 'er. Normally the guard wouldn't be called for someone who went missin' for only a couple of hours, but in the case of Angel bein' human. If we didn't find her soon, she would end up dead.
One sight of my shakin' form was all Maria needed ta know how worried I was. "Is there anywhere you haven't checked yet?"
"Only place is Grillbz's, but I was just there before." Already feelin' my magic pulse in worry, I prepared ta teleport. "Gonna go there next, don't tell Frisk."
I barely heard her reply before I vanished from her home and ended up back in the bar.
Grillbz sighed when he saw me back there. It'd probably only been half an hour since I was there last as I teleported around town ta find Angel.
"Sans, I swear to the lord above…"
But my long-time friend paused when he saw the sweat roll down my skull. The heaviness in my breathin'. My form was shakin'. All red flags for those who knew me.
"Grillbz, I can't find 'er."
That was all I needed ta say before my friend burst inta action. He had his phone whipped out in a second.
"I'll call Glyde and Hops, you call Undyne."
"Shit…" The pressure was startin' ta crack down on me with every second she was missin'. I couldn't wrap my skull around the chaos that would come of someone finding 'er that wasn't okay with a human in the underground.
Grillbz was already on the phone with one of the other jury members while I tried ta compose myself long enough ta call the captain. M'soul was beating so hard, I could feel it rattlin' my bones.
Undyne I knew had work that day. She was plannin' on comin' over once her shift was up. I only prayed that she'd pick up in our haste ta find Angel.
Two rings went by before I heard the click of a line connectin' and her sigh on the other side. Her armor clattered, makin' a hell of a lot a noise while she put it away. "What do you want, ya dork?"
"Angel's missin'."
A piece of her armor I could hear fall ta the ground, I could hear her jumpin' and hissin' up a few hundred swears that she could think of. "How long?"
I struggled ta keep myself from pacin'. Unfortunately, my nerves won out and I passed round twenty on Grillbz's floor. "A couple hours. Haven't seen 'er since nine. I went home ta check on 'er, she ain't there and ain't pickin' up 'er phone. Goin' right ta voicemail. Already checked all the buildin's in Snowdin."
"Crap. I'm heading over! I'll check the woods on my way back there! Maybe Al can track her phone?"
"Oh! Sans! You came back so soon?" I turned my skull just ta see Papyrus walk in. "Did you see that strange glowing, Brother? Is that why you're here again?"
"Glowin'?" Not even givin' my brother a moment ta explain, I teleported outside. The cold wind hit me, still gustin' around after the storm. Lookin' out inta the distance where the woods were, I noticed the glow that Paps was talkin' about.
It was bright, somethin' that was easily seen in the distance. Its glow stretched for a few miles in an area of the Snowdin forest I hadn't been ta in months. Round that area was where Dad helped Pap and I make an igloo like structure ta play in.
But that glow that came from that area… it was red.
"Angel…?"
"Sans! What are you doin' you mega dork?!"
I blinked and pulled back the phone, forgettin' I had Undyne on the other end of the line.
"I think I found her. There's a bright red glow from Snowdin forest. Meetcha there."
"Sans-"
I shut down the line and teleported ta the area.
I could barely see when I landed only ten feet away from the igloo we'd made all those years back. The glow of magic was overpowerin' as I tried ta move forward, fightin' the light. Monsters normally didn't need much for dark glasses or anythin' of the sort since it was always dark in the underground. Only those in Hotland ever needed 'em because of how bright the lava could be.
Cursin' my luck, I teleported back ta the house for a few seconds. I landed in my room and threw apart the drawers of my dresser ta find a pair of dark glasses. I groaned when they weren't in the dresser and tried my nightstand next. I huffed when I saw 'em, black rimmed and recently cleaned, no doubt by Angel herself.
She's be pissed when she saw the state of my room…
Shakin' the thought away, I plopped the item on my skull and teleported back ta the igloo. With my sockets protected from the harsh light, I was able ta see the shape and doorways of the igloo when I came back. I crawled inside the small entrance.
Inside, I was… floored…
Angel was inside, just like I'd guessed. But… she was hovered in the air. Her soul yanked out of 'er body and levitatin' above her. Three souls were attached ta hers, two deep red ones and one white that I could barely make out. The white one was moving around, attached by a small chain ta Angel's soul. It moved over ta where she lacked an arm and…
I couldn't believe what I was seein'…
The white soul was makin' an arm for 'er…
Witch's Note:
Oh, I love this! Everyone here has been great about this little arc we have here! And we've learned so much! So, Angel can hear the dead on occasions where she's putting out strong emotion, though she still struggles to hear them. Is that all it is? Or will more come of that? He he! I'm not telling just yet! You guys gotta be patient on that one!
Anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying the mini-arcs! I've always loved Gaster as a character and thought he would just be an amazing father for our beloved skeleton brothers! I know some people depict him as bad or lost to insanity due to being in the void, so I wanted to simplify and change things around here.
But anyway, enough of my rambling! Onto our reviews folks!
Not A Shady Guy: Oh Shady! Now I'm feeling the pressure! I'm so glad you're enjoying what I've done so far, but I can't deny how worried I am that Mettaton's part is underwhelming… (sigh) But I'm gonna try and keep my nerves. All I can do is wait and see what you think, but I will note that Angel's recovery is still going to prolong even after getting a new arm.
Dasansi: Oh you sweet little reviewer you! Oh, how you made my day! I have another one on my side who understands the importance of Robert! Oh, I hope you continue to try and help me show the others these finer details! Sadly, poor Mystic Girl and some of our other esteemed reviewers seem to think that Robert deserves suffering for what he's done to our main cast, as well as she feels that way with most other terrible characters that have also done wrong to, again, our main cast. You brought up many key points, but my best friend I can already see is just rolling her eyes.
Mystic Girl: Look, I get it. He helped out a lot and Dasansi made a lot of points, I still wanna kill the bear.
Me: (Sigh) Yes, yes, your fury is like that of a storm, ruthless and destructive, yada, yada, yada. We get it girl.
Mystic Girl: Fuck you!
Me: (Narrows my eyes at her) Sit and spin for all I care.
MysticBoywastaken: Well, I see your excited for the next chapter! Don't you worry, answers to those questions and comments you left are coming up soon! You'll get a taste of what you wanted to see in the next chapter, just bear with it a tad longer, okay?
Thechaosmaster: Oh Choas, I adore your comments, as does Mystic Girl who is currently laughing in the background and nearly falling over on her ass. She truly does love to hear her brother in arms talking about death and destruction to the bear… in fact, I have some pieces coming up soon about him and I'm eager to see EVERYONE'S response to what happens.
But that's all I'm gonna say… XD
Mystic Girl: I thought you said we'd be keeping that a secret!?
Me: But Mystic Girl? What did I reveal?
Mystic Girl: Wha- UGG! You bitch! Stop messing with my and their heads!
Me: But I didn't do anything? (I smiled wickedly at her.) I'm just getting them excited for chapters upcoming!
Mystic Girl: (Glares at me) You're specifically getting them hyped about chapter-
Me: (Covers her mouth quickly) Nah, uh, uh! We only talk about that stuff in secret.
Mystic Girl: (bites my hand)
Me: (Bites her back just as hard!)
PS: Also Chaos, I'm working my way through the music, honest! It's, been great to listen to while I'm sick. Got fricken hit with Covid, so I don't have much better to do when I'm lucid. But don't worry, Mystic Girl is alright, she hasn't been near me so she's safe and so is her family.
TheSquoxQueen: Why hello there! A new reviewer, and aren't you brave to bet your delicacy on our story! Well, do hold onto it tight! You'll find out if your right or not in the next chapter! If you are right, I promise to get you that cookie! Just make sure to let me know your still here for it!
Mystic Girl: If you get it right, I'll bake the cookies!
Ninja Squirrel: Hey there! Another new reviewer! Hello! Its always lovely to see new people! So, you just found my story and binge read it? Nice! I'm glad you've enjoyed what I've done with the characters and fleshing them out. I felt they all deserved it so much.
Oh, thank goodness I've got another person with some common sense! Just… uh… be careful and don't let my best friend hear you say that too loud… she's trying to raise an army to kill the bear… (Off in the distance cheering of that same phrase can be heard like a mantra.)
And there are so many things yet for you to see! We post every Saturday so you'll be able to see more of the story you adore! Thank you so much for reading and please stay tuned!
Okay… wow, that's a workout… sorry guys, I gotta go rest. Like I noted before, I managed to get Covid this week right after I posted the last chapter, so I've been holed up so I didn't get others sick. But I'm just about recovered at this point, just getting my stamina back.
Love you all and see you soon! Don't forget to review!
