Two Worlds, Two Souls

Chapter 65: A New Piece

Third Point of View:

The entire town of Snowdin was in an uproar at the thought of dear Angel missing. She had become a friendly beacon of hope in their lives since they days they met her and her younger sister Frisk. People cherished the girls, not because they were human. Oh no, humans were deceiving and deadly. They only wished for the powers and strength that monsters could possess from being made entirely of magic. At least, that was what was believed to have started the war between humans and monsters nearly a hundred years ago that locked them inside the mountain.

Yet, Angel took the time to show that humans had changed. They had become more kind, forgiving. At least from what they had seen of Angel and the way she interacted, she understood and carried the weight of the past often on her shoulders that she didn't need to do. The young woman adored the people around her, never judging them despite their looks and personalities.

Many people had been quite nervous when the two of them first came into town. It was well known that Bernie, the dutiful inn keepers who housed them for the few weeks when they arrived at Snowdin, kept her eye on them. Her paw constantly hovered over the dial button to her eldest son's phone. She wasn't sure if she needed to call him and let the guard handle this human, or if she should wait.

She had exchanged words with Sans the skeleton often. He'd been the one to bring the girls to her. Bernie had asked Sans on multiple occasions why these humans weren't being sent to the king? Why were they allowed to live in the cozy little town of Snowdin? Why didn't he or his brother capture them when they spotted them?

Sans couldn't really offer much of an answer other than that Bernie should observe the for a time, and see if they really were all that bad.

Bernie heeded his words, not out of respect for the man. Oh no, Sans had lost her trust ages ago after all the tricks he used to play on her youngest children. Yet, she couldn't help but wonder why the skeleton that was so focused on his brother and his wellbeing all the time would come to even give a crap about two human girls.

So, she watched, as did the others of Snowdin.

Bernie couldn't say that she been the first to extend a friendly hand to the girl. No, no, that title had been taken up by Maria, mother of three and wife to Robert. Maria had been one of the only people to see the young girl, always alone or with her younger sister. One day, she decided to be the brave one in town. Against the wishes of her husband, she took her younger two children down to a nearby playground in hopes of running into the two humans.

And by her lucky stars, she certainly did.

The two girls had taken temporary residence at the local playground where young Frisk played and Angel watched from a distance. It was the perfect chance to approach. Maria was slightly worried, knowing that the girls were humans and hadn't honestly seen one since she was a young child, before the death of Mr. and Mrs. Gaster. Trying to be the kind and friendly face that maybe the young human girl needed, Maria pushed away all her fears and acted as she would to any other person.

And to her wonder, the human girl was a pacifist.

It was easy to see in her movements, the way she talked. She didn't appear to like fighting, even if the slightly defined muscles in her arms showed that she had been practicing or working heavily with training at some points in her life. Angel was kind, motherly even, and her sister a wild but eager to learn child who had lost part of her childhood to their struggles.

And it was at that point that Maria was sold. So, what if they were humans? They were kinder than most monsters in the underground.

That became the stepping stone for the monsters of Snowdin. With Maria's testimony and new budding friendship with the human females, others began to look on in wonder and debate if they should attempt to know them too. Grillby was another who extended his hand. A friend of Sans who didn't mind the extra cash that was dropped on his counter from another customer. His family saw the kind girls and enjoyed their company, especially when Frisk would play with his young daughter Fuku. Bernie had also finally given way to many of the worried feelings she had. Their families soon came to know the girls on a daily basis as they saw them and chatted often.

Angel and Frisk just seemed like normal people.

The entire town knew of girls within months and had accepted them into their lives. Even the royal guardsman Vinnie had succumbed to the believes and gave them a chance.

The entire town of Snowdin had come to love the girls, so when they heard that Angel had gone missing, the entire town was desperate to find her. She was a dear friend, someone precious to them all.

About the same time as Sans was running all over Snowdin to find said girl and the locals were realizing that their favorite human woman was missing, did they noticed that there was a bright red light coming from the Snowdin Forest. A small group of some of Angel's friends were sent out in order to investigate.

This group had been Robert, Papyrus, Vinnie, Glyde, Hops, and a very winded Undyne after she sprinted all the way from her guard post in the Capitol. The group of monsters entered the woods and got closer to the light, shortly noticing that Sans was already there and found a way to shield his eyes from the blinding light. The other monsters didn't have such benefits on them at the time and had to brave through it, not used to such brightness.

As they approached, they could hear Sans' gasp.

"Brother?!" Papyrus cried out over the bright light, unable to see his kin. "What's happening?! I can't see!"

"…the hell?" It was all that Papyrus was able to hear before Sans reached back in the bright light to grab his brother's shoulder. "A soul, a monster soul is makin' Angel a new arm!"

All the monsters there were stunned by the statement that was said. In an attempt to see what was going on, Undyne followed the voice of Sans until she felt her fingers connect with his smaller body. She swiped the glasses off his head and placed them over her eye to see the same thing as he did.

"Holy shit!"

The glasses were passed around to everyone to allow them a chance to see. Once they all had gotten a good look at the situation, they were passed back to Sans. The skeleton placed them back on his head in an attempt to watch every moment and make sure Angel wasn't being harmed.

"Sans?" Vinnie was the one to call out to him. "If this is helpin' her, should we even be botherin' it?"

Sans looked back onto the scene. He was so worried for the girl who he cared for so much, but… this white soul was crafting her a new arm. Something that even Alphys was having trouble with. The prosthetic was taking far longer than she'd liked, but Sans didn't know who was the soul helping Angel. It made him nervous.

"I dunno…"

Hearing those words made the rest of his group flinch. Sans normally always had an answer or a rebuttal. This was one of the rare times he was too stumped to know.

"Worry not, Sans."

The voice that cut through the air had the older skeleton shivering in astonishment. Sans glanced up then, not sure if what he was seeing in the bright light was true or not. A faint outline of a figure he once knew hovered over Angel's stub of an arm where a new bone protruded from the skin.

"D-dad?!"

"Hush son… I'm almost finished… I will not keep your beloved Angel away from you much longer…"

Sans could only stand there in silence with the other people who journeyed to the location. They were seeing something that no one had ever come across before. A ghost… not a ghost monster, but an actual spirit who hadn't moved on after death.

To make matters worse, it was the father that Sans adored, and couldn't save.

Angel's Point of View (Dream):

My father burst out laughing after thoroughly looking through all of my memories. He saw every moment where I was embarrassed or in a… compromised position with the skeleton I had feelings for. Even my mother, the ever so kind gentle soul who was not one to outwardly mock another, struggled to hold her giggling behind her hand.

I wanted nothing more than to fall into a pit of nothingness.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Honey." My mother still couldn't pull her fingers from her lips. Every time she tried; her giggles came back much stronger than they had the time before. "It's just… you and Sans are so adorable together! How have you not asked him on a date yet?"

Before I could attempt to speak for myself, my father sniggered. "It's cuz she's like you, Hon. I seemed to recall a girl I loved was too scared to approach me until my brother annoyed her too much."

"Oh, stop that you!"

I breathed a bit easier in that moment when the conversation shifted a bit off of me. My skin was on fire from how I felt. Heat came soaring up through my body and left an ugly red in its wake, from the tips of my ears all the way down to my chest. It was humiliating.

And my parents found it funny…

"But in all seriousness, Angel." My father questioned me from where I sat on the other side of the table. "Do you love him?"

"…I really think I do…"

"Then you'll know what to do when the time is right." I felt my father reach over to ruffle my hair. "Be brave, and wait until you're ready. But it sounds like that kid of Wingdings loves you too. And he'd be a good pair for you."

I felt my eye brows furrow in bewilderment. "And you'd be okay with that?"

"More so than I would be any other asshole you've run into." My father clicked his tongue in annoyance "Hated that fuckin' Austin…"

As I recalled the memories of a boy who constantly harassed me, I could only agree with my father. "I know…"

"Oh!" My mother exclaimed and had me turn to face her. "I bet our grandchildren would be so cute coming from the two of you!"

And just like that, when I thought everything was settled down, I was beet red again, embarrassed to hell and back. "MOM!?"

My father snickered as he leaned his head into his hand. "Cindy, she's gonna burst if you keep doing that to her."

That caused my mother to pout. "I'm not nearly as bad as your mother was when she first grilled me when we began dating, my dear husband."

He held his hands up in surrender. "I'm aware. I'm just making a statement. Angel was always like a carbon copy of you. Just keep that in mind."

"Oh my god…" I let my head fall to the table. I literally couldn't fall any lower in embarrassment, could I?

"Ah! Angel! I have just finished the new arm for you!" I lifted my head just enough to see Wingdings emerge from where our backyard was in the memory induced location. "You should be waking up within a few minutes, my dear. And do be aware that Sans as well as a few others are waiting for you. They unfortunately found your body and…"

The skeleton paused as he took in the situation. He saw my parents who looked mostly normal, while I was barely facing him and trying to hide my embarrassment behind my hair. He raised an eye socket at me, thought a light smirk danced at the edges of his skull.

"I did not think that you two would embarrass her that greatly."

"Oh, no, no, no!" My mother quickly retorted, raising from her seat and grasping the man by his arm to bring him to the table. "Wingdings, your son and our daughter have had quite lovely tension and awkward moments between them! You have to see the memories! We'll have gossip for months!"

My father bust out laughing and I wanted nothing more than to sink into a hole and vanish.

"Kill me…"

My father reached over to ruffle my hair. "Not happening, Kiddo."

"Oh dear, so they're just as smitten with each other?" Wingdings eagerly took a seat at the table. "Then when she wakes up its bound to be wonderful. Though on a serious note, I've finished the arm for you. It took a bit longer than I anticipated, but it will work no differently then you're arm before. All you need to be aware of is that it is just bone, no muscles or skin. However, it was made from both your and my magic, so it will respond to it if you call for it to be protected."

I lifted my head just enough nod to him in thanks. "Thank you, Wingdings."

"And thank you for all that you've done. I look forward to see how you help my sons and the monster kind escape." Wingdings then gave a devious grin. "And I'm eager to see what my grandchildren will look like one day. Do keep us posted."

It was too much then; I flew up from the table. They already seen me very red, I couldn't take it anymore. "I'm leaving now!"

"Okay, okay." My mother hurried from the table to hug me before I could move very far. "We love you; you know that?"

Taking a shaky breath to settle myself, I nodded against her, holding her tight "I love you too, Mom, Dad."

"Come here, Kiddo." I hurried back around to see my father open his arms for me. I fell into them easily as I let my face hide in his broad shoulder. "Tell Frisky that we love and miss her too, alright?"

"I will."

"And Angel?" Wingdings was the last to see me off. He held out a hand for me to shake, but I passed right by it to hug the male. He appeared startled, but wrapped his arms around me all the same. "It was lovely to meet you. Please tell my boys that I love them. And… please tell Sans that I'm not angry at him. I never blamed him for what happened. I'm only happy that he's alive and the two of them are together."

Nodding into his shoulder, I looked up to face him. "Okay."

My mother's hand fell on my shoulder for one last squeeze before I saw her point to the same area of the house I'd appeared in before. "If you're ready to head back, head to the front door. Once you step through it, you'll fall back and your consciousness will wake up."

"…Okay…" I nodded slowly and stepped away from them. Passing through the living room, already the vision was becoming blurred and the voices dimmer and further away. I hurt so much as I walked away. Knowing that the three of them were dead, I knew that if I left it would be a long time before I'd see them again. I wanted nothing more than to stay and be with the forever.

But that wasn't realistic. I had to get back to my sister, Papy and… Sans.

I had to get back to Sans.

The hold on my soul was weakening as they allowed me to leave this so-called dream. I saw the three parents watch me just as I turned the corner for our front door to open it. Once I did, they faded from me entirely. I pushed on, using my determination magic to will myself forward even as my emotions screamed at me to stay.

I took a step out the door, and I fell into nothingness.

Awake:

As I came to consciousness, I could feel the hands of multiple people on me. Trying to open my eyes, they came out very fuzzy, and the voices I heard sounded far away, or like I was underwater and they were muffled.

It took me a few moments to catch my bearings. The only thing I could really tell was that I was on my back. I tried to focus on anything around me. Then I noticed it, how there was a blob right beside me that was blue and white.

There was only one person that could be.

"S-sans?" Even my own voice was muffled. The blue person came in closer.

"-cious?" The voice slowly began to get louder and clearer. "Precious, can ya hear me?"

"Hi Darling…"

After blinking a few more times, he came into focus. I could see the worry in his boney brow, the stress in his features. That all melted away the second I responded to him though.

"Ya feelin' okay?"

I hesitated a moment before feeling a moment of exhaustion wash over me. "I'm tired…"

"Let's get ya home then, okay?"

I felt my body be moved then. Someone had picked it up. I wasn't sure if it was Sans or not, my vision blurred as soon as I was off the steady ground and swaying. Faster than even I could recall, I passed back out.

Witch's Note:

Oh shit! Look at what's come of this! Angel does have a new arm, one made of BONE! Nice! Granted, her recovery still isn't over yet. Just because she got back her arm doesn't mean that the trauma and emotional issues aren't over with. So be aware of that folks!

Also, I can't believe how close we are to two-hundred reviews! I've never had so many in all my writing days! Everyone! You are the best! Thank you so much! No idea if this will happen or not, but we still have a ways to go! Anyone think we might hit that magical three-hundred mark before we end this story? We've got just under thirty chapters left!

Mystic Girl: (Showing me and the readers a bottle of our favorite echo flower essence to mix with other drinks!) Three hundred for the win!

Anyway, let's move onto our reviews! We've got quite a few this time around!

MysticBoywastaken: I'm afraid my dear friend that I can't give you much of an answer this week! It would ruin an up coming surprise! Just keep your eye out between now and chapter seventy. Okay?

Mystic Girl: My dear brother, I promise that we will KILL THE BEAR!

Dasansi: Thank you so much! All recovered now and back to work! But yes! You were right about the arm! I'd always wanted to give that back to Angel after all the trauma she went through, and she kinda needs one. But issues for her are not over yet! We still have too many chapters to go through! And I have to get those two love bones together! Also, so glad you loved the jury because guess what! There's another section with them coming up soon!

RoseCentury: Rose! Oh its so good to see you! Had us a bit worried when we didn't hear from you the week before! But so glad you and the babes are doing good! And happy late birthday to you! Do whatever you can to keep busy! Will help you get ready and pass the time before you get to see your cute little ones!

Thechaosmaster: I swear you two are insane… makes me wonder if you're going to love or hate some upcoming chapters late…

Mystic Girl: (She slowly walk up to me with back up plans under her arms.) Sorry Halloween, I have plans now.

(And she runs away…)

But anyway, yes! (Ignoring my best friend while she runs off in the distance to where her co-conspirers are located, I kept on writing.) Panicking Sans is oh so lovely to see when it comes to his darling Angel, or his brother, or Frisk! He adores them all, but gotta love it when even he, the calm and collected Sans, panics.

Ooo! You have your own story you're working on? Details please! Would love to hear it!

TheSquoxQueen: Welp! It looks like we owe you some cookies! (In the background Mystic Girl is firing up the kitchen with lots of ingredients at the ready. It appears as if she's in the zone and ready to work. Her eyes glance back to me, waiting on the order.) Now the question is… what kind of cookie?

Mystic Girl: I can make red velvet, chocolate chip, both… what will it be?

Me: My god woman, make me drool why don't you?

Mystic Girl: I know my best friend and her sweet tooth!

NinjaSquirrel: Isn't it so cute! I always envisioned Grillby having a family so I had to give him one and include them! And Angel is always getting into trouble. Maybe that's why Sans panics so much! XD

Ceoko: Hey there Ceoko! Glad you're loving it! Stick around because some heated chapters are coming around soon! I promise there worth dying for!

Phew! My fingers hurt after all that typing! I need a small break! Granted… I gotta get back to the squeal at some point… The week I was out with Covid I got hit with a major writer's block. Haven't written much more than half a chapter, which is bad… I gotta get to it before Mystic Girl chews me out…

Mystic Girl: Excuse me?! You haven't fuckin hit your quota! I'll give you the smallest of passes because you were out sick, but no more excuses! Get back to work!

Me: See what I mean…?

Welp! See you all later! Love you! Don't forget to review! We love your kind words and things are about to become messy! It's the end of Wingdings' arc! Who do you all think is gonna be next?

Halloween Witch
