Everyone seems to forget that Raven is also new to Earth like Starfire and doesn't know what some things are either. So I wanted to have Raven learn them by Robin showing her. Some will be Raven showing Robin things.
I have a decent sized list of ideas. If there are any specific ones that you can think of let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans in any way
Ice cream
It's been a few days since the Titans had formed. It was getting late into the summer and it was hot. It wasn't the heat that was so bad, but the humidity. Everyone was struggling to stay pleasant as the humidity increased.
Not much of the tower was complete due to the scorching heat so everyone was congregated in the main room with the newly hooked up tv. Cyborg and Beast Boy were trying to teach Star how to play Minecraft. She enjoys creative mode so she can fly around and spawn all the different mobs. Robin was going through papers at the kitchen table while raven was seated across him reading.
Every once in a while Robin noticed Raven pull at her uniform uncomfortably or glare at the three playing Minecraft when one of them screamed or something made a loud noise. Now Robin noticed that she gave up reading and is sitting there looking miserable.
Robin finished up his work before stacking it neatly and looking at Raven.
"Are you ok?" He asked, resting his head in his hands.
Raven looked over to see Robin looking at her. "Yeah, I'm fine" she said before laying her head on the table.
"Are you sure?" Robin asked, also laying down to see her face. "Because you look miserable."
Raven turned her head to look at him before sighing. " it's the humidity. It's horrible. How do you guys live with it?"
Robin also sighed. "Yeah, the humidity sucks. It makes it too hot to want to do anything." Raven hummed in agreement before taking off her cloak and laying back on the cool table.
Robin thought for a minute before speaking. "You know when I was little, on days like this I would eat ice cream with my family."
Raven turned her head over and gave him a questioning look. "What's that?"
Robin gave her the same look in return. "What's what?"
"Ice cream." Raven answered.
Robin widened his eyes and opened his mouth in shock. 'How does she not know what Ice cream is?!' He thought to himself.
After Robin got over his shock he sat up. Raven looked up at him. "Come one," Robin said, "let's change and I'll show you." As Robin started walking he noticed that raven was still seated. 'Is she coming?' He thought and walked back to the table. "Aren't you going to get changed?" Robin asked. Raven looked up at him and then looked away.
"I don't have any other clothes, just my uniform. "
Robin thought for a minute before replying. "I might have something that might fit you. Come on." This time raven followed Robin to his room leaving her cloak at the table.
When they arrived at Robin's room Robin went to the closet in search of something Raven could wear while Raven stood by the door looking around.
"You can sit on the bed if you want." Robin told Raven. Raven sat at the foot of his bed while he still looked for some clothes.
'Hmm," Robin thought. 'I know I had some smaller tank tops and shorts somewhere in here.' After a few minutes of searching he found a few options. "Ok, I have a few different options to choose from." Robin walked over to Raven and laid out each piece on the bed. There were three tank tops that were blue, black, and another black one but with the Batman symbol and two running shorts that were both black, onea bit longer than the other. "They should be about your size but I don't think they'll be too small."
Raven nodded at him before looking at her options. It wasn't much but it was something. She chose the blue tank top and the shorter shorts. "I'll be right back." Raven told Robin before leaving to change in her room.
When she left Robin also changed. He chose a gray tank top and black shorts. 'I can't believe Raven doesn't know what Ice cream is,' Robin thought. 'How does someone not know what it is?' He was taken out of his thoughts by knocking at his door. He quickly adjusted his mask and answered the door. Raven was there waiting for him. 'The clothes seem to fit pretty well,' Robin thought. 'The shirt looks a bit big on her but oh well.' "Do you have your phone with you?" Robin asked. Raven nodded and patted her side pocket to make sure.
As they made their way out of the tower they passed the common room. The three were still playing Minecraft, but this time they were teaching Starfire how to mine around lava. The room was quiet and full of concentration. 'That's a first.' Robin thought. "Hey guys, Raven and I are going out for a bit. Well be back soon." He got head nods and shooing hands in response. As they were walking away Raven spoke.
"I don't understand why they play that game so much. Don't they get tired of doing the same thing over and over?" Robin chucked at the statement.
"I guess not."
Robin decided that they would walk since Brusters was only a little bit away. They were almost there when Raven decided to speak again.
"So you said that this is something you eat?"
"Yeah," Robin replied, "it's cold and soft. Perfect for a horrible day like this." He smiled over at Raven who just nodded.
Once they got there Raven was shocked to see so many different flavors. After a few minutes of looking and explaining, Raven got the black raspberry ice cream and Robin got the butter pecan.
As they were walking to a table Robin decided to ask his burning question. "So you've never had Ice cream before?"
Raven sat down and looked at her ice cream. "No, I've never had it."
Robin accidentally blurred out his next question. "How?" He immediately regretted it and was about to apologize before she spoke up.
"I'm not from Earth that's why. They didn't have ice cream where I'm from." Robin just nodded and ate his ice cream.
"You don't seem like your not from Earth though."
Raven gave him a look and then started stirring her ice cream. "Just because I don't act like Starfire doesn't mean that I know all these things. Some of it I can figure out but there are some things that I have no idea about."
Robin nodded at her response. "Like ice cream?" He smiled.
"Yeah." Raven said continuing to stir her melting ice cream.
After a bit he decided to ask her something else. "So," he began, "do you like it?"
Raven looked at him and nodded. "Yeah. I didn't know that it would melt though so that was a surprise, but, it's nice." They sat for a bit longer before Raven spoke." So I saw on the menu something called an ice cream cake, what's that?"
"It's a cake made of ice cream." Robin answered. "You do know what cake is right?" He asked teasingly.
"Yes I know what cake is." Raven responded, rolling her eyes. "So it's literally just ice cream shaped like a cake?"
"Pretty much. Sometimes it has toppings mixed in it like the ice cream. It's pretty good."
They finished their ice cream in a comfortable silence and then headed back to the tower. "So where'd you two go?" Cyborg asked without looking from the game.
"We went and got ice cream." Robin replied sitting on the couch.
"What?!" Beast Boy shrieked, " you guys went and got ice cream without me?!!"
"Yeah," Raven responded, picking up her book and cloak and going to her room, "that was kind of the point." Beast Boy sulked for a moment befor lighting up and handing Robin a controller.
"Do you wish to play with us friend Robin?" Starfire asked. "I have just acquired my first piece of iron and can't wait to make the shears so I can collect the wool from the sheep's."
Robin took the controller and started playing. 'Today went well. I hope Raven had a good time. I wonder what other things are new to her."
