Two Worlds, Two Souls

Chapter 76: An Arrangement

Frisk's Point of View:

"Seriously? What's wrong? You're acting really depressed!"

"Frisk... please stop asking me that."

"But why won't you tell me?"

"Frisk..."

"Frisk, please leave Angel alone." Papyrus snipped at me from his spot in the kitchen. A narrowed look to his sockets. "She is both tired and stressed."

I pouted, but didn't argue. I could see how stressed my sister was. What was the problem though? It wasn't like her to be so visibly upset and not say anything.

Unless it was jury related? I know she had to keep those things from both me and Papyrus, even if she didn't want to.

My sister rested on the couch. She had tried to paint earlier, but whatever it was that was bothering her prevented her from doing so. Papyrus was even cooking breakfast for us all while Angel seemed too tired to do much of anything.

And Sans wasn't there as well. Did that have something to do with it?

A quick knock at the door caught us by surprise, or at least it was for me and Papyrus. Angel hardly moved from her spot and motioned me with her head to open the door.

I blinked in surprise at her. "You really don't feel good, do you?"

Angel didn't respond as she watched the door in... almost what looked like defeat.

Hurrying over to the door, I opened it just to see Sans standing there in his judge robes. I blinked at him in surprise as he approached and stepped inside the doorframe.

"Frisk the human, yer assistance is requested by the king of the monster kingdom." His voice sounded really deep and demanding as he handed me a letter. I opened it quickly to look at the contents. "The king would like ta request yer help in aidin' the discovery and removal of a drug traffickin' circle in the midst of Waterfall High School. You would be paid for this endeavor and monitored at all times, as well as doin' this task will help with yer... personal goal of befriendin' all monsters."

My eyes widened as turned to look at Angel. "This is why?!"

My sister only sighed, irritated with the situation. "I promised that I'd let this be your decision Frisk. I don't like it, and I can't tell you how badly I want to hide you away, but I promised that I'd let you decide that for yourself."

I blinked at her in confusion. "Why?"

I could see her trying to settle her nerves to show me a smile. "Didn't you tell me and Sans that you wanted to get stronger and more responsible? You can't do that if I'm always deciding things for you."

"Oh..." I blinked at her in surprise before looking to the official document in my hands.

Dear Miss Frisk Seeley,

This is an official request from King Asgore Dreeemur and his court to request your assistance in the murder case surrounding Wilbur Armel. It is believed that he acquired a dangerous drug from inside the Waterfall High School's walls. This pressing matter requires the help of a child your age where you can weave into the life of a student. Your skills in being able fool others and gather information are highly valuable to find the culprits that caused so much suffering.

Should you agree to this proposition, it shall place you within good light of the king as he debates over your sister and you're living in the underground.

The king wishes to resolve this issue with the drug dealers as soon as possible so that he can meet both yourself and your sister, Miss Angel Seeley. He has been eager to meet with the two of you for the last seven months that he knew of your arrival in the underground. Please do inform the Judge or Jurymen Red of your decision as soon as possible.

Jurymen Green

"Crap!" I nearly dropped the note when I saw the last line. "He knows we're here?! Why hasn't he like, captured us yet?"

"The king has yet to see you girls as a threat." Sans commented with his strange voice masked by the cloak of the judge. "It would be in your best interest to assist him, but consult with your sister if you so choose."

"Sans..." I pouted at him. Though he never showed it was him below the cloak. "What do you think I should do? Sis already said that she wanted me to make the decision on my own..."

"This Sans fellow of yer sounds like he cares for ya as much as the other human there." Sans' white robes pointed over at an upset Angel who watched the scene with downcast eyes. "If he cares about'cha like that, I'd assume he'd be against it, but probably hold his tongue so ya'd decide on yer own."

"Frisk, you should do it!" Papyrus stunned us all as he rushed into the room with us, leaving behind breakfast in the kitchen. "If it will help with the king, I know you can do it. You're always skirting around others with your sneakiness and your acting skills! I bet you could do it with ease!"

I tilted my head at him. "You think so?"

"I know so! And your better at your magic now!" Papyrus eagerly waved his arms while he picked back up the note. "Tell them you'll do it! You can be just like a secret agent working for the king! Doesn't that sound cool?"

"Maybe..." But he had me giggling. "Okay, if it'll help getting the king to like us and ends all the crap we've gone through in the last few months, then I'll do it."

"Very well. I'll inform the king and the other jury of yer decision." Sans nodded from under the cloak.

"Thank you Judge." Angel lowered her head toward him.

"Sans!" Papyrus yelled over all of us. A spatula in hand was pointed in his direction. "Remove that ungodly thing and join us for breakfast already! I'm nearly done!"

"I'll take m'leave."

And just like that, Sans was gone out the door and teleported away. We'd see him again shortly. It sucked how he couldn't talk about anything relating to his job. Not even admit that it really was him under the cloak, when he had it or not.

The only thing now is to get more information about this 'task' I was going to do…

Angel's Point of View:

While I still felt dread in my stomach from the fact that Frisk agreed to help with the drug trafficking operation, I tired to busy myself with other things to prevent myself from worrying over it too greatly. There was nothing I could do at that point in order to stop what was already going to happen. My sister had agreed to help and I had no choice but to let it happen. If I could have gone in her place, I would have, but there was no way I could pass for a teen. I was nearly twenty-two as it was.

Granted, I was glad that she was making a serious choice as she had. She'd been much more involved lately and had been very helpful in protecting Katarina and Askook from being harmed when Will lost what little sanity he had left in his being. She was also able to protect Papyrus from what he had told me later on.

Many hours later in the day, we were all relaxing at home. I was attempting to paint again and succeeded for a short while before I knew that I would have to do something else. When my nerves were jittery, physically moving about and doing something productive was the best cure for it.

And I always loved to cook.

When I then heard a knock at the door as I moved toward the kitchen, I was actually surprised that time. We weren't planning to have anyone over. The only one had been Sans in his judge robes to ask Frisk about her helping out in the operation. We weren't expecting anyone else that day.

I hurried over to the door to glance through the peephole while the others were busy with an avid round of games on the TV. Papyrus had been a two-week paid vacation for all the work he had done during the time Will had been on the loose and the killer not found until. Frisk and him were playing together much like before all the incidents had happened.

Through the peephole, I was stunned to see it was Maria who stood there with MK, and a few bags over their shoulders.

I raced to yank the door open. "Maria?!"

But the bear couldn't speak. She sobbed loudly and fell into my arms. I held her as she collapsed and both of us fell to the ground while MK hung in the doorway, a downcast look on his face.

Sans was by my side in an instant. "The hell you two doin' here? Thought ya were in the capitol?"

"Mom thought we should... ya know... try to come back..." MK tried to offer an answer for his mother. "She thought we could come back and move in, but... Mom saw our home... and she couldn't even make it in the door..."

I hurried to try and pull Maria up with both my hands and magic. "The first thing we need to do is get you two out of the cold. Papyrus! Make room and get a coffee for Maria! Frisk! Make hot chocolate for MK!"

I could hear the scrambling of everyone as I lifted Maria up off our front steps and pulled her inside. The poor mother bear was a blubbering mess as she clung to me. I needed my magic to try and pull her along before setting her on the couch. She then refused to let me go. I struggled to hold back the sigh and held onto her while the others ran about at my orders.

Within five minutes, everyone was seated before the fireplace to keep our guests warm. Maria still hadn't had the strength to look up from my shoulder while I tried to comfort her.

"Why did you guys come back so soon?" Papyrus questioned them softly. "I assumed that the two of you wished to stay close to Will while he recovered."

"We did... but..." MK paused. "Mom wanted to come home. She wanted to try and go through some of Dad and Milly's things… so we left the room we had in the capitol and came home… but you can see how far we got…"

"Maria…" I dared to look at the sobbing bear as she clung to me. Even Sans was at a loss as he looked over the two of us. His face looked worn at that conversation that had hardly started.

I knew it was too soon for her to be back. She lost both her husband and daughter to a son that's mind was so destroyed by the drugs he was taking in. Said son might not even make it depending on the doctor's determination of his medical condition. He'd been sleeping and slowly removing the drugs from his body and he was in a vegetable state for the last few weeks…

"You shouldn't go home just yet. That's too much." I tried to sooth the mother bear in my arms. "Why don't you stay with us for a while? And you could head back over to your home whenever you wanted to."

"Really?" It surprised me when Maria lifted her to look at me, her eyes swamped with tears that she couldn't see me properly. "Angel... I couldn't ask that of you."

"You're not asking, I'm offering." Looking quickly to Sans to make sure he was okay with it, he nodded with a more relaxed grin. "We'll make space for you."

"Oh! We can have a sleepover every night!" Papyrus giddily noted from his spot. "MK! You should stay with Frisk and I in my room! I have a great place for a daily sleepover!"

"Uh... sure?"

"Yeah, that would be fun!" Frisk grinned before she looked to the mother bear. "And since I'll be with them, you can stay with Angel!"

"Oh..." Maria looked worriedly over at me. "Are you sure you don't mind?"

"Nah," Sans snickered from his spot. "It's cool. No worries."

"We don't mind, really." Patting her back, I helped the woman sit up. "Why don't we help you all get settled for a bit? I'll get dinner on soon."

"Oh! I'll help after assisting with getting MK settled!" Papyrus gleefully noted before rushing off.

"I'll get the blow-up mattress!" Frisk leapt from her seat to grab it from the closet. "Come on, MK!"

The stunned lizard boy took a moment to stare before hurrying after them with a bit of a smile on his face as he chased after the younger ones.

"Angel, Sans... thank you both..." Maria tried to hold back her sobs and prevent herself from falling on top of me. I helped her set herself back into the cushions while Sans handed over the box of tissues we had on hand.

"I can only imagine being alone during a time like this, it's better to be with others, if you want it." After rubbing her back a few moments, I stood and brought her with me. "I'll get dinner started and you can sit out with me and Sans in the kitchen. After we eat, we'll get your few things settled. Maybe in a couple days we can try to go over to your home again?"

Maria slowly nodded, trying to catch her bearings as she followed me. "I'd like that, thank you Angel."

Witch's Note:

Oh shit! Look at what Frisk is going to be doing?! What the hell?! Oh boy…

Any of you ready for this? This operation is a go!

So, let's just dive into it because I wanna hear what you all have to say, review time!

MysticBoywastaken: Perfect! I'll file that paperwork for your sister when I get a chance. And what makes you think that I'm gonna hurt her? (I show you a devious smirk.)

Mystic Girl: You better not do anything, Halloween.

Me: Why would I do that? There's more then enough going on so there's ne need for me to!

ShadowPhantom: You are totally right Phantom! This is not going to be an easy thing, even more so now that Maria has tried to go home and turned into this mess! Love to hear your thoughts on that twist. And yes, your entirely right. Will and Harry will never be mixed together (shivers at the thought.)

And we'll have to see just how terrible things go for Frisk, won't we? XD

Dasansi: Oh no! What if that was to happen? XD Doesn't it make your heart bleed for the family? I feel absolutely horrible for MK, Maria and Will. Oh, the situation just plain sucks, but it's not over yet~

Thechaosmaster: Yes, Chaos. You should have a bad feeling about this. Everything about this should be bad! Yes, a killer is caught, but now the issue of the drug dealer is left! So who could it be? Is it someone we know? Is it a person we've never met? Who knows?

Oh hey! Mystic? Isn't it time for your meeting?

Mystic Girl: Oh shit! Of course it is! Brother and Second in Command, we need to meet! (She takes off down the hallway where a secret chamber is where she requires you to meet up, turning back just long enough to make sure you're following her.)

RoseCentury: Rose I would never expect you to say where your life. That's not a safe thing to do online. Its perfectly reasonable to keep yourself and your family safe. Nothing to be upset about with that. We understand. It's the same reason we don't reveal much about our location. You're good!

Ninja Squirrel: What? What do you mean noooooooooooooooooooooooo? Come on! Tell me!

Commander: Oh, it's so good to see you again! No worries. Sorry that its not Flowey as the killer, but hope your still enjoying! Ooo! Some more questions for us! Gotta love those.

Okay, so for the questions on how the characters would respond to VR… I imagine it would be more of the concept that they were seeing through that lens. Angel and Frisk have always been so enthusiastic about the underground world that was so different from their own, versus if Sans and Papy saw the aboveground world through them, I think they'd be beyond hooked. And of course, Sans probably would interested a bit in the tech! XD

As for the second question, I do have a younger brother that has no affiliation with the website. He's a gamer going to college right now for Environmental Science. You wanna talk about your family Mystic?

Mystic Girl: I've got a younger brother as well. He works for a school and I normally try to hang out with him during the weekend if I can.

Another chapter out of the way! Hey guys! Sorry for scaring any of you last week. My health problems we've got more under control now so I'm trying to get back into the swing of typing! Hoping to put out some more chapters during the quiet weekend I'm going to be spending at camp!

Love you all and see you next week!
