BPOV
I waited in the clinic that Leah's mom, Sue worked at and when it was my turn to go in, Leah went to the store down the road. She was close enough to protect me since it was extremely sunny out, a vampire strolling up the beach would be quite visible and she'd know well before Victoria got to me and she also had Kim, still in the waiting room on the phone with her.
"What seems to be the problem Bella?"
"I punched a werewolf." I said quietly. "Kim thinks my hand is broken."
"Oh no, it wasn't Jacob was it? Let me take a look." Sue felt my hand and looked for visible problems.
"No, it was Paul and he deserved it." I knew I meant it but feeling the pain in my hand did make me regret it a bit.
"Well, lucky for you, Carlisle Cullen tried to step into our good graces when they'd arrived back in Forks. He donated some old equipment from the hospital so we could better handle some minor things because of how many older members of the tribe, similar to Harry, refused to head into the hospital in town. An X-Ray machine is one of those items as well as a nice donation to make a room for it and lead lined vests for protection." Sue brought me into another room and sat me down, placing my arm on a hospital bed with an X-Ray camera above it.
"I'm surprised Billy let you accept that gift."
"Well, this clinic is like my baby, he doesn't get to tell me what happens here. Oh, Bella, I do have to ask before turning this on, if there is any possibility you could be pregnant?" Sue looked uncomfortable asking that question so I quickly put her at ease.
"None. I've never. I actually um, wanted to talk to you about birth control? I mean we aren't there yet but I want to be prepared." Talking to Sue about this was surprisingly easy.
"Of course. Do you know what the options are? I have a preference myself." Sue handed me a vest to wear while my hand was being X-Rayed and put her own on and clicked the button for it to take a picture.
"I know some. Given my hectic life I was hoping for the shot? Seems the most user friendly. Hard to forget."
"That is true, and also the one I would recommend. It has some side effects that could happen, weight gain," She moved my hand into another position before taking another photo. "And other physical changes because of the hormones. It also has to be redone every three months, but it is also highly effective since you won't have to remember to take it every day."
"Sounds good to me." Three months was a lot easier to remember than every single day.
"You can take the vest off. Based on these images, there is a break but nothing is out of place so I don't need to send you to forks to have anything reset but you will need a cast.
"Lovely. Stupid Paul and his stupid werewolf body. How am I going to finish high school with a cast on my hand?" I was so stupid. Of course I had to go and hit him. I mean sure, Jake would have torn him apart if I didn't but a broken hand this close to graduation? I would make that boy pay for egging Jake on.
"I'm sure you'll be fine Bella. You're a smart girl." Sue took my hand and started putting my new cast on.
"Thank you, Sue."
Sue finished with the cast and gave me my Depo-Provera shot. I set a reminder in my phone for three months to come back and walked out to find Kim and Leah waiting for me with cans of cold soda and chocolate bars.
"Yay, comfort food." I replied without emotion.
"Oh no, Bella. I really wish I wasn't right" Kim said reaching out for my cast.
"Come on, gotta head back." Leah said. I think she was enjoying her time with other girls.
"Can we get together again. Maybe a couple movies and lots of snacks and a whole overnight deal?" I asked, offering the only girl to an all boys club a retreat. "We could get off the reservation and do it at my house. Charlie has a big screen."
Kim got a huge smile on her face. "Heck yeah, I'm in. Leah?" she turned to Leah to see if she would join us.
"Yeah but it might be better to do it here. I don't think the boys would like you both put in danger on bloodsucker territory." All of them and only one of me. I'm capable, I am. But seven against one is a little much. Eight if you add Victoria into the mix." We walked out of the Clinic and headed toward Jake's.
"Yeah, you're probably right." I agreed. She made a good point. No way would Leah even be able to be at ease that night if she knew vampires were lurking in the tree line.
When we got to the Black's home, Sam and Jared were waiting outside. Jared scooped Kim up into his arms and spun her around, planting kisses onto her cheek which made me blush.
"Where's Jake?" I asked before hearing a painful sounding groan come from the house. I ran inside and found Jake slowing getting out of bed, bruises on his side and a small puncture wound that looked to already be healing. "Oh my God, Jake! What happened?"
"He caught me off guard. Paul has a temper Bella. Always has." Jake sat at the edge of the bed, finding standing to be too difficult.
"Rest. I'll murder him later for you." I said, my tone coming off more serious than I meant to but given the circumstances, I wasn't surprised. Jake laughed which only caused him more pain. "Sorry. I'm going to go be useful and make something for you to eat.
