Two Worlds, Two Souls
Chapter 79: Convincing
Frisk's Point of View:
This was fuckin' crazy!
Even after a month of being in school, it still felt like I was a part of some sort of crazy spy movie. Every single day before I got to the school, I had to be hooked up with wireless cameras that were in some crazy gaudy jewelry put on me, like a necklace or barrettes in my hair, or a pin in my shirt. Before I even began going to school, I had to have my tooth drilled and a wireless recording device put into it.
The tooth was rotting anyway, so I wasn't worried about it. Alphys said she'd fill it in when she had the chance.
Walking down the hallways of the school, I couldn't help but be mesmerized as I passed by lockers and doors that led to the many classes there. I was so eager to take as many classes as I could to learn lots of skills. There were magic classes to teach basics to people who either didn't have the chance to learn or struggled with magic that wasn't their own. There metal classes, woodshop classes...
But my favorite that I was interested was the music and cooking classes.
I loved music with an undeniable passion while cooking... I may not have been good at it, but I could always try. Angel's always wanted to teach me to cook. Like she did Papy, but she had been so busy lately that she just hadn't had the chance to.
"Hey! Frost!" I lifted my head quickly at the sight of some of the friends that I'd made in the single month that I'd been there.
Everyone at the school knew me as a nymph who was born deformed without wings and a strange magic from a distant side of the family. My appearance was dressed with a blue wig that came down to my shoulders. Though I still did have on some tomboy like clothes so I could get mucked up outside when I played with the others. There was magic on the wig so that it could only be removed by Jurymen Red, AKA, my sister. It had to be in place to hide my identity.
It made sense to dress up like a type of fairy after I thought about it... they looked a lot like humans...
"Hey!" I waved back to the small group of friends I'd accumulated. Besides MK who stood at my side and actually knew it was me, some other people I'd made friends with stood beside us too. There was a shark monster named Jay who loved to watch anime or movies. Then there was Sophia the owl monster who was a cheerleader.
The four of us were inseparable, even if we came from all different areas of the school and social groups. I hoped my friends would still like me even after this mission was over and I revealed who I really was to them.
Sophia shook out her feathers before pressing them back down from a stressful class she just came from. "Do you wanna go to football field to have lunch again?"
I grinned at her. "Sounds good to me! I hate math! Get me away from Mrs. Goldashi's room!"
"Awe, come on Fri-ost!" MK gasped, trying to cover up the fact that he almost said my real name. "Math isn't that bad."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Says the lizard that's going into robotics."
"It really isn't that bad Frost," Jay snickered from his spot beside us. "You just suck at it."
"Hey!"
"Forget him, girl." Sophia's wing came around my arm. "Let's go get some grubs before they all sell out."
I nodded quickly. Huffing and leaving the two boys behind. "Gladly!"
"H-hey!" MK grumbled as he hurried to catch up with me. "Wait up!"
"Jeez, can't take a joke, can you?" Jay rolled his narrowed eyes at us before sliding across the floor on his tail.
Quickly did we make it to the cafeteria. Security was tight as we gathered food, surrounded by more security guards then before the whole event with Will attacking everyone. I could see Vinnie and Samson both patrolling in the lunch room while other watchmen were around and sentries. They were on high alert to watch anything suspicious and keep an eye on me. All of the guard knew that I was helping the jury with this mission.
I really hoped that once it was all over, the king would be happy for what we've done an accept us... I really wanted to continue going to school with my friends, for real.
A Few Days Later:
"Tell me something Frost," Sophia and I were the only ones out at the football field that day as we watched practice going on. Jay was busy in his anime club getting ready for an upcoming event while MK was working on his latest project for his robotics class. It was a beautiful day. I wasn't required to spend time with my sports team and Sophia had a break from cheering.
"Hm?" I looked up from my spaghetti lunch to look at her.
"Do you like anyone? You know, before and after you came here?"
I was so surprised by her statement that that I felt more confused than I did embarrassed. "No... Why...?"
Sophia looked surprised at that. "Really? But you're so close with MK. You two walk home together every day and you don't feel anything for him? Or anyone else?"
"No?" I simply shrugged at her. "I don't know what you want me to tell you Soph, but I don't have any romantic feelings for anyone. Right now, I'm more concerned about getting my sister and her roommate together as well as two of my friends that are crushing on each other."
"Oh yeah!" Her feathers almost stood up at a point when she remembered that. "You told me about them. Hasn't your sister and your roommate been tip-toeing around their feelings for months?"
A demonic grin appeared on my face. "It's actually been for two years."
She gasped sharply. "No way!"
"Yes way!"
"And the two friends?"
"At least for a year, maybe longer."
"That totally makes sense why you don't even have time for a love life!" Sophia giggled before taking another bite of her salad. I pouted as I saw my friend eating so little.
"Why don't you put some meat or something in your salad? You'll burn it off with all the cheering you do anyway?"
"Meat in a salad?" She raised an eye brow at me. "That sounds so weird."
"My sister does it all the time. It's about the only way she gets me to eat salad and like it." I licked my lips while I ate at my noodles. "Also, that grilled chicken stuff tastes pretty good if you put salad dressing on it. Besides, just veggies don't give you all the nutrition you need. I know their good for you, but it's not all you need."
Sophia narrowed her eyes at me. "Are you trying to distract me?"
I tilted my head at her. "From what?"
"Relationships!"
"Oh!" I showed her a sheepish grin. "Sorry, got lost on that separate tangent. Was it about my sister? Because it totally needs to happen!"
"I was talking about you and you went off on other relationships!"
"Me in a relationship? Probably not gonna happen until I'm and adult." I shrugged before I blinked at her in question. "Why are you asking me all these questions? Are you in love with someone?"
Her feathers ruffled and an unmistakable red tint almost glowed through them on her cheekbones. "N-no! Of course not!"
"Really?" I couldn't help the slightly mocking tone I'd used on Angel and Sans a time or two. "Because someone looks quite hot and bothered at the question~"
"I am not!"
Giggling at her expense, I could only shrug. Not wanting to make her too angry, I backed off a bit. She was my close friend after all. Even if I had only known her and Jay for a month, they felt really close to me…
I really hoped they didn't hate me when I told them who I really was.
With a sigh, I let my friend un-ruffle her feathers while I glanced around the football field. Practice was going on at a fast-paced rate. I watched as monsters of many different builds and backgrounds come together to play certain position that fit them. Larger builds for ball throwers and person walls, while smaller monsters were runners or catchers. I wasn't fully aware of the game or all its rules, but the guys always seemed to be having fun when they played the game.
Just as I was watching, I was surprised to see a mascot walk up to some of the players. I blinked and watched the scene carefully while trying to appear like was still eating my lunch, or use my phone.
The mascot was one of the signals I was supposed to look out for. In the information the jury gave me, one of the team members wore the mascot uniform to take suspicion off of them and hide their identity during the day. They really had their operation woven carefully into the school.
It made me sick just thinking about it.
Those guys suck for what they're doing. Not only is it wrong, but the stuff they've been handing out for everyone to use that was hurting them. Its one thing if you know and are conscious of it, but Will wasn't. He hurt other people because the drug had bad effects on him. He killed Milly and Robert… and while maybe I won't entirely be able to forget him for falling to such shitty crap… that doesn't mean I wasn't trying to forgive him.
Besides, it was the dealer and whoever made that shit that deserved my fury.
"Hey, Soph?"
"Yeah Frost?"
"Who's the mascot handing out stuff to players?"
"Oh?" She glanced over in that direction. "I don't know. I'm sure some of the others know who it is, but the guy is pretty nice to hand out the team little care packages. You know, some snacks and drinks to keep the guys playing the sport as long as possible. You know how dedicated they are to the game."
"Hm…" I hummed at that, already thinking that perhaps I should inform the guard that I'd seen the mascot for the first-time handing things out. "Damn it!"
Acting skills had flown into overdrive as I pretended to have a migraine. I would do this every so often to excuse myself from my friends. It was the safest way to escape them while I gave reports during the day if anything I noticed was something they should monitor.
"Frost?!" Sophia was at my side in an instant. "What's wrong? A migraine?"
"Yeah… damn that just hit me like wall." Giving her just enough of an act, I let my muscles shake some and tried to hide my eyes from the light. "Gotta get my medicine… shit… I left it in my locker…"
"Want me to go get it? Or take you there?"
"Nah, lunch is almost over. I'll get them and head to the nurse's office. Shit…" I huffed out angrily at another class I would miss. "Damnit… gonna miss my woodshop class…"
"Jay and MK will take notes for you." Sophia assured me while assisting me to stand. "Go get your meds then and I'll let them know your out for a few hours. Go get some rest, okay? You're working yourself too hard."
"Got it."
Before Sophia could change her mind and followed me, I left the place as fast as my "pained" form would let me. Once I was out of Sophia's line of sight, I walked a little faster, but still held a hand over my eyes to shield me from the lights. I still had to put on a show like I was trying to fight through it.
It wouldn't be believable otherwise.
I had two code words while I was in school. "Medicine" was the first one which the guard knew as an information drop off code. I needed to meet up with someone to inform them of something. I'd only used it twice before. I tried to use it at a minimum so if other people saw me disappear for a certain length of time, it wouldn't be a surprise, but also not too common to arouse suspicion. The second was "Trauma" which was my emergency code for "I need help. Get me the fuck out of here." I obviously hadn't used it yet, but there would be a time when I would.
Making it to the locker I was given, I opened it quickly to pull out a bottle and grabbed some pills. Now, the pills were nothing real. But they sure looked like it! Alphys had some of the scientists for her working on making them. They were just jello in all honest. Encased in capsules with words and numbers printed on them. They looked hella real, but no effect on me besides a small bit of sugar in my tummy.
I had just sucked down the two "pills" I'd grabbed before I felt a rough hand grab my forearm. Instantly I tried to free myself, even as I saw it was Vinnie who had a hold of me. The look in his eyes was glowing like radioactive acid.
Granted, I didn't dare say anything positive like I normally would have. I was told that if the guards approached me somewhat aggressively, it was to put on an act. They wanted me to pretend like I hated the guards so that perhaps those that were using the drugs were more likely to approaching me since I wouldn't blab.
"Get the fuck off me you asshole!"
"What the hell were you taking?" He ignored my shouting and shoved his face closer to mine, to make himself look more intimidating. I was so thankful he was already on my side or I couldn't lie and say I was scared for the force and aggression.
"None of your fuckin' business!"
"It does when there's a killer on the loose!" Vinnie yanked me to the side to search my locker. Quickly he found my bottle of "pills" and read at them. "What the hell are these?"
"Those are mine!" I tried to leap over his muscular arm, but he shoved me back.
"What. Are. Theses?"
"They're my meds you asshole! They're for my migraines!" Holding my head in pain, I tried to pull away from him. "And you're not helping it!"
He shook the bottle before my face. "Regardless of that fact, this is supposed to be in the nurse's office! Not in your locker!"
"Stop yelling, you asshole! It's hurting my head!" I continued to struggle, even as I felt him pull me away. "It's not a big deal you mother fuckin' asshole!"
I was pulled to a sudden halt by the royal guardsman and met him nose to nose. And it was true fear I felt that time as he glared at me, not acting.
"Don't you ever say that again, you filthy rotten little shit."
With that he continued to drag me while I remained silent. With only a few minutes passing, I was hurled into the nurse's office and the door closed behind us and locked. Once the door was closed, Vinnie calmed down and hurried over to help me up, no longer under the eyes of the other students.
"You okay Frisky?"
"Damn... yeah." I rubbed my wrist from his rough treatment. "You think they believed the act we put on?"
"They better after all the yelling and draggin' we did. Good job flailing like you were being attacked." The royal guardsmen sighed and sat, ignoring the nurse that sat in the corner. The jury and judge had already spoke to him so he was keeping quite while we used his office often for communication between our parties. We kept it as few times as possible so that no one would find out about us.
"Okay..." I breathed out.
"So what did you find out?"
"While I was out having lunch, I saw that mascot for the first time."
Vinnie raised an eye brow. "Really?"
"Yeah, Sophia and I saw him while we were eating." I thought back carefully to the memory to recall any detail I could. "I saw him passing off a brown lunch bag to another of the football team. From what Sophia told me about it, she didn't know who it was. Apparently, that person was always passing out drinks and snacks to the team. But if this guy is using that as a guise to pass along his product..."
"You need to carefully get in touch with this guy." Vinnie commented while he rubbed his chin. "We don't know how dangerous he is, but we know that he now feels safe enough to pass that shit around again. I know your smart and strong, but be careful."
"You got it Vinnie." I gave the male a thumbs up. "I'll stick here for a while since my "migraine" should be out of control after all the yelling and crap you did to me. It would make sense for people to see me go home... would it be helpful for me to pass a rumor around the school about how you harassed me? Or attempt to keep it quiet?"
"I'd rather you didn't, and if we want to go with your tougher sort of image you'll want to go to your final class and tough it out." With a huff, Vinnie rose to his feet to head toward the door. "The school is already gonna be in a buzz from our screaming. Go on and lay down. Make it look real when someone runs by."
I saluted him. "Yes sir!"
With that, Vinnie waited by the door for a few moments while I leapt into one of the five beds that were in the room. There was one surrounded by curtains and lights turned off. I put my bag at the end of it and curled up, turned away toward the wall before I heard Vinnie leave, swearing up a storm as he did.
I hoped we were making a convincing skit. I really wanted to catch that bastard...
Witch's Note:
Oh, I know I'm going to hear some comments when it comes to this chapter! So many of you have been looking forward to Frisk going to school and seeing her react to this situation as well as just being a normal kid herself! So, she is disguised as Frost the nymph, possibly another relatable species to get closer to the gnome category. After all, they're both version of fairies.
But who am I kidding? Let's stop this dialog and move onto the important part! Reviews!:
MysticBoywastaken: I have to agree with that statement pretty well. Mystic Girl's personality just seemed to fit Frisk so well when I was writing it and she noticed that almost right away while I was making this story. Oh, I can't wait for you to see the shit I put her through in book two!
Shadow Phantom: Don't worry about me too hard Phantom! I try to take breaks when I can. It's been hard recently and probably for most of the summer I'll be doing long days and pushing myself too hard, but I try to spend my days off catching up on stuff and spending time with those loved ones. Like this weekend I'm spending some well-deserved time off with my boyfriend. It's been too long since we've spent time together that its BEYOND needed.
Commander: Wait a second, you want to make a website for us? Didn't you say once in the past that you wanted to do artwork based on the girls? I think I remember that! I do have discord now that if you want to private message me, I can give you the details and add you if you want to talk in more detail. I think Mystic Girl would be pretty excited to hear more about this.
Mystic Girl: The fuck?! Hell yes! Get in touch with us, damn it!
Me: I think you got your answer. As for your other questions… oh God… birthdays? The siblings would all be pretty strait forward. They'd want their sibling and probably a good friend or partner. At this time, it would be just friends. So, Angel/Sans, Papy/Frisk. And for Robert? Most certainly his family only because even I have difficulty that he has more then a small handful of friends…
Mystic Girl: Fuck the bear! He's dead, so fuck the bear.
Me: Hush! And Flowery? Um… nah, not saying anything right now!
Thechaosmaster: Ah yes, this is one of the most desired parts that you've been waiting on! School and school drama! So, we have our cast of Frost (Frisk) MK, Jay, and Sophia who are the main group. But we also see Vinnie is involved!
And your chapter is almost done! Oh yay. I'm excited to read it! Take your time and make sure its up to your standards first before anything!
RoseCentury: Oh, that's so exciting Rose! How was the date? And don't wear yourself out! Take breaks while trying to keep yourself busy!
Not A Shady Guy: Yes! Now we have reached this piece and so much school related stuff with happen soon! Even if this arc won't be much longer, enjoy what you can because I have school stuff in this story and the next before we fizzle that out!
Raspberries123: Nice! Love the ideas! So, will those be your five? I'm trying to keep it to five per person so everyone gets a chance to give some unique ones. But if someone wants to give them up, I don't see why you couldn't have them if offered. I guess that would be a question to ask the others since I'm not sure how they'd feel about it.
Anyway, enough of me blabbering about! I know you guys are just eager to respond to me and about the chapter and I desperately wanna know your thoughts too! So don't forget to review, send in your chapter ideas if you haven't already, and let's do this thing!
