Two Worlds, Two Souls
Chapter 82: A King's Decision
Angel's Point of View:
It was the day. When I opened my eyes on the day, we were to see the king in no disguises, I couldn't lie and say I wasn't deathly afraid.
That was what we'd been working on for the last couple of years. It was both exciting yet terrifying. Our final battle in a sense would be trying to convince as many of the monsters who we had befriended to stand by our sides and fight for us to live with them. I wasn't sure just how many people would stand with us, but I couldn't help but hope that many of them would.
We'd asked many of them, my friends far and wide were spreading the word for people to come and speak on their behave. The king even offered special permission that none of them would be in trouble for not going to work if it was for that reason.
We asked Tori if she would speak for us, knowing that she was Asgore's wife once and would have some pull perhaps on his decision. She was nervous, that was understandable. She hadn't seen Asgore in years. Not since she left shortly after the deaths of her children and Asgore claiming war on humans above.
She had said that she planned to go over to the castle earlier on before the rest of us arrived. I had no idea when she planned to get there, but it must have been a few days before when we were supposed to go there to hash out some difficulties in the past before talking about the main event, Frisk and myself.
When I walked down stairs in my housecoat, Sans was the only one down there waiting on me. The younger ones either hadn't gotten up from bed yet or were still asleep. Maria was still in bed when I managed to pull myself from the warm sheets.
"Mornin'."
"Good morning." I nodded to him, surprised to actually see a cup of coffee and tea already present before him, steaming hot and ready to be drank. "You made me tea?"
"Figured it help ya clam down before we head off ta the show." Sans only shrugged while he sipped at his coffee.
I giggled before sitting beside him. "Thank you, Darling."
"No prob."
Silence overcame us as we sat there, still waiting on the others. The smell of the coffee would wake Maria and Papyrus while MK and Frisk were normally set to sleep in. We would have to wake them up early in those days to prepare ourselves.
"I hope things go well today..."
"Welp, Precious, ya done all ya can to prepare." In an unusual show of affection, Sans let his arm come around my shoulders. "Now we just gotta hope it's enough."
Later that Morning:
We were to be at the castle at noon on the dot. Decked out in our cloaks from the time being, it was to keep us safe until we had gotten before the king. There were still other monsters about that we knew probably wouldn't be pleased with our entrance. Or the fact that we existed within their underground home. I knew that most monsters were keeping quiet about it then. They honestly weren't sure how to accept us I was sure, and the decision that the king made for us would shape so many people after the day was done.
Walking into the hallways, I was surprised to see how many people were gathered there. I could see that many of them I'd met before, but there was a handful or so that didn't look familiar to me.
Regardless we kept pressing forward, heading toward the throne where the king was situated.
Quickly did we see the king with Tori just to the side of him. While she wasn't dressed up in fancy robes or jewels like I saw in many of her pictures, people still gawked at the fact that she'd returned after so many years of being away.
Toriel was facing Asgore when we arrived. She didn't notice as she talked with him softly. She stood with fingers wrapped together before her dress, keeping herself from getting to close, though she seemed to be struggling. Even after the years of them being apart, there was some sort of attraction, no matter how she tried to hide it.
"Ah! Ravie!" The king was the first to notice us as we came in closer. His conversation with Toriel was halted and he turned looked toward us.
"Good day, King Asgore." As our two families arrived before him, we gave a short bow, or at least most of us did. Sans of course had a lazy grin on his face and only gave a wave, trying to appear like normal.
"Sans!" Papyrus stood up and nearly shoved his brother's body into the ground when forcing him to bow before the king.
Asgore tried to appease to him. "It's quite alright Papyrus, do not concern yourself with trivial things such as that. How are you all today?"
"As good as we can be, your majesty." Maria was the next to comment. "As you know what today is after all."
"Ah yes, meeting the human girls for the first time." Asgore sighed. "I've heard you've all met them before, are you worried for my decision?"
"We'd be lyin' if we said otherwise, Fluffybuns." Sans shrugged, but even with his carefree looking posture, he was worried beyond belief.
"I see." Asgore hummed, bringing a large hand to his chin. "You all must care about these humans."
"Very much so!" Papyrus noted.
Asgore smiled at him, but also took note as we stood with our friends how I and Frisk didn't speak. He watched us carefully with soft eyes.
"Young Ravie, Young Sitka, is everything alright?"
"Yes... uh..." I sighed, trying to hold myself together before the big reveal. "I'm sorry, just worried."
"Would you like some tea?" Asgore seemed to be attempting to calm me down. "I have some I just prepared in the study while we wait for the humans to arrive."
"Oh, I don't want to pull you away from others..."
"Nonsense, it's my duty to look after those of my kingdom. Come, Ravie." With little room to argue, the kind monster who would change our futures led me away from my group. I saw them try to follow, but Toriel kept them back. I blinked as I watched that happen from behind my hood. I didn't understand it then, what she was doing.
"You seemed to like my tea, don't you Ravie?"
"Yes sir, it's always lovely."
"Please, come and sit so we may chat like we have in the past."
With that being said, Asgore had me sit at the table in his study while he poured me a cup of tea. As he remembered, I had only a couple cubes of sugar in my tea before he passed over the cup and a spoon.
"Perhaps this may calm you?"
"I hope so. I've been far too stressed lately."
I carefully took a sip of the tea while the king lingered only a few feet away on the other side of the table. He carefully was watching me while I sipped at the brew.
"You know, this is very similar to how we first met, my dear."
"Yes... having tea while Sans was in a hospital bed a year ago." I chuckled at the memory. "Quite the greeting."
"Indeed. And within a year you have been more of a change to my kingdom then I think people realize, young Angel."
I froze at his words.
"It seems my guess was right for some time." Asgore calmly sat across from me as we drank tea together, even as I stiffly looked to the grain of the table. "I always thought it was strange that Sans took such a liking to someone so quickly. It was unlike him to do such a thing, even for family members. Why could I not find records of you in my system? They appeared randomly later on in the year once Sans had magically convinced us all that you existed. After leaving your home in the ruins? The only person who lived there was Tori along with the few monster who could enter or already lived there away from the masses."
I dared to look up at him slowly. "How long have you known?"
"I didn't connect much together until after I knew that humans were living in the underground. But after that it was noted to me and how everyone in the guard fought so hard for you, especially during the murder case, it made it very clear. You never defended yourself, as Ravie or what not. But Sans and the others heavily did." The look on his face, I was stunned when I actually saw the king show me a sly smirk. "It gave me an inkling of a feeling, one that I spent careful time exploring, though Tori is the one who gave me the final pieces of information that I needed to know. Angel, will you remove your hood?"
Letting out a deep sigh, I reached forward to do as he asked. When I pulled back my hood, my face revealed to him with my braided hair falling out of the hood.
"Forgive my rudeness, but I've never seen a human up close." Asgore inspected me before he looked to my one arm that looked smaller than the other. "Do human arms look different from each other?"
"Uh... no... my arm was lost during my first encounter with Undyne in my human form. I lost it to an acid mushroom. This... is a magically created bone arm by Wingdings Gaster's ghost who recreated it once he attached his soul to mine."
Asgore's eyes narrowed as he watched me remove the gloves I had on so that he could see both arms. One of pale flesh, one of bone.
"It would seem that you have a long story to tell me. Of the adventures you've had here and the people you've met."
Nodding slowly and fear slowly ebbing away from me, I tried to show the man a smile. "I suppose I do."
Frisk's Point of View:
My heart was thumping so hard in my chest. I was worried it'd burst out of it.
My sister had been gone for over two hours! The king took her away for tea or whatever and she hadn't come back yet. I was internally freaking out while I walked around with Undyne and Papyrus. They stayed close to me as we waited for my sister to return.
Was it bad that I was petrified in those moments? I was scared out of my mind as I kept my gaze to the doorframe where Angel had walked off to earlier. Even if Tori said that it'd be okay, I still was worried sick.
This was a scary day for all of us, revealing ourselves to the king who barely knew of our existence until a short while ago. What was going to happen if he didn't accept us? Would that leave us as sitting ducks? Would we be attacked? How many people would be harmed when trying to save us?
I hated to think like that, but it was the truth.
I loved all the people that surrounded us. I knew so many of them. Friends we'd made along this crazy journey of ours, people we've fought with or had difficult times with, people we've laughed and cried together with. During times of good and bad, we've been together. And even if it was two years only that we'd been there, it felt like a life time.
"Frisk, are you alright my child?" I glanced up beside me to see Tori standing beside me. She kneeled quickly as she saw the panic in my features. "You are worried for your sister? She will be fine. Asgore wouldn't dare harm her with so many here that will vouch for her. He's been listening to people from all over the underground talk about the good she's done since the beginning, and you as well."
"I know... but that doesn't make me any less worried when she's not here with me. You know?"
"Yes, child, I know." She carefully rubbed her larger hard against the side of my head. "Have some faith. As you have told me, Angel is good at getting herself out of terrible situations."
"Yeah, you may wanna tell that to Sans more than me..." I pouted before pointing to the skeleton who hung by the doorway that Angel took off toward. "He's more worried sick then I am, you know how he feels about her."
"Ah... yes..." We both looked over to where Sans was watching the doorway intently, not even trying to hide that fact. "I will assist Sans, but you also should have nothing to fear. I have spent the entire week talking with Asgore to ease his fears and I'm more then certain that he does not plan to harm either of you. In fact, I believe he wishes to ask for your help once more."
"Our help?" I blinked and looked at both Undyne and Papyrus who shrugged at me. "With what?"
"Welcome everyone!" We all turned our heads quickly to see Asgore walk back into the room. On his heels came my sister...
Wait... with her hood down?!
My sister smiled as she looked out among the people of the underground. She looked so much more at ease as she looked about. She met eyes with Sans and he instantly melted out of the worry as she looked at him.
What the hell happened while she was away?!
"Welcome everyone, it's a wonderful day to see you all here." Asgore greeted the others in the grand room. "As you can see, one of the humans has already revealed herself to me. Miss Angel Seeley. I know her sister is in the crowd, but she does not need to reveal herself at this moment."
I cast a gaze to Angel and she winked at me. She seemed entirely at ease.
I clenched my fists. "This is really weird..."
"Miss Seeley has worked hard to present herself to the entire underground. And seeing so many of you here to fight on her behalf and that of her sister's truly warms my heart. I know in the past that I have not been the most pleasant toward humans, but Miss Seeley and her sister are very different than those we have heard of in stories of the past. They have assisted with many of the recent situations that have arisen in the underground in their own way, boosted the spirits of our people and just been kind folks in general. Why, I didn't even know that I'd been friends with her for the last year!"
As the king laughed at his own mistake, the people around him began to calm. Our nerves were not as wired as we watched in in hesitation to the change of the atmosphere. I couldn't help but turn to see the slack jawed look on all of our friend's faces, even Sans whose eye lights vanished in his surprise. Papyrus' mandible actually did fall to the floor...
"And because of my stupidity, I can't fathom harming either of them." The king smiled at my sister before he frowned. "But I cannot deny the fact that you, my people, deserve to be a part of the world above. So young Angel has agreed to a proposal of mine."
"The hell ya talkin about Asgore?" Undyne yelled at him.
With a patient smile, my sister stepped forward. "Asgore has agreed to let us live in the underground if we could donate some of our time to assist with the scientists working on breaking the barrier. I already promised that to Wingdings, so that's hardly something I can turn down. Besides, it would only be me doing for the time being while Frisk gets to attend school."
The squeal that left me echoed across the room as I bound forward. Tackling my sister, she held firm as I looked up at her eagerly.
"I can go to school?! I can talk with my friends again?!"
"Yes, you just can't tell them about that special mission you did for the king and the judge. Okay?"
I pouted at her. "Not at all...?"
She sighed. "Just the basics, no details."
That had a grin back on my face. "Yes!"
"And Sans?" My sister turned back to her beloved skeleton with an eagerness to her eyes. "You don't think you'd be able to help out too with that? You know a lot more about the science stuff that's going to leave me confused if I go alone."
"Wait?" I blinked at her. "Why am I not going?"
"You'll be too busy with school, clubs and afterschool activities." My sister clicked her tongue at me. "So no, I have a bit more free time then you do."
"Fine..."
"No problem Precious." Sans finally let down his guard as he teleported over to her. "I'll make sure the big heads don't hurt yer head too much."
"Thank you Darling."
"Well now, I believe that this is cause for a celebration!" Asgore quickly stood back up from his throne. "The first two humans that will be a part of the underground's people! Angel and Frisk Seeley, this celebration will be in honor of all your hard work. Let us begin!"
I was stunned at the changeover of the mood. Just a few minutes prior we were worried that my sister and I would be on death row. After Asgore's speech, we were members of the underground. Music exploded into the space, an easy to dance jazzy type that had me hurling off my cloak and grabbing Papyrus' hands to dance. Laughter and squeals erupted as everyone began to party like their lives were on the line.
Man did I love the monster people!
Witch's Note:
Yay! They were accepted! No big fight or anything! Were any of you expecting this? Were you thinking that there would be a fight instead to prove themselves? I wanted to make this part a little different from the game since we're going almost even beyond that of a true pacifist ending that the game includes! But we still have so much more as you all know!
And I have to admit, next chapter is one of my favorites that are coming out that I've hinted at for months! I hope you all will be here to enjoy it with me as my heart and soul are put out on the line!
But let's move on from this! So, let's move onto reviews!
Commander: Oh, I'm stressing you out? How about now? And as for your question, I have seen it, not sure about Mystic Girl. Let me check.
(I turn then to my partner in crime to see what she has to say while she playing with a new set of knives she bought. I can only raise an eye brow as she ignores me staring at her.)
Mystic Girl: I've seen bits and pieces, its not quite my cup of tea. Sorry.
Shadow Phantom: Who knows when Flowey will show up? That's a good question, and I'd like to think that I've near followed a pacifist route to the letter. That was always the goal more or less, but of course I had to put my own twists and turns in there!
As for the other souls… I've kinda put pieces here and there that they fell much earlier, during times when Asgore was a boy or not even born yet. It was his grandfather and father in my story who met, killed or received the human souls. For the most part, their history is lost along with themselves. Only a colorful silent soul hovering in a glass jar remains.
Thechaosmaster: Oh yes, the time has come Chaos! Here it is! Hope you liked this set up seeing what happened with the girls! And no worries! Everyone's going through hard times, you have a right to be worried. No judgement.
And yes! Actually, only ten left now! Oh man are we getting closer to the wire! That reminds me! Put in any ideas you got people for chapter ideas! I gotta get them written and fast! I only have ten weeks before I post the next story, the side story you all wanted!
And that's not just for you Chaos! That's for everyone!
Raspberries123: Yes! The end is sadly coming too fast for anyone's liking, but I hope you and the others have been enjoying this, Raspberry! Oh, and one of my favorite chapters is coming up next week! Don't miss out! I friggin love it! And I'm fairly positive you will too!
Dasansi: You and me both! I can't tell you how much it irritated me how Asgore had to shoulder everything but Toriel got to walk away and get away from everything. It was selfish, and horrible. She gave up on her people and kingdom and I can't condone that. I had to be very careful with the way I set her up because I wanted to show her in both that positive but also negative light. Angel for the most part stayed out of it since it wasn't her business, but even she noted throughout the story how there's a negative thought back to Toriel here and there. And I felt there should be some sort of saving grace for her, even if just a little.
As for our little group, we've been able to keep most things under control here… (my gaze passes by myself for a moment to make sure that Mystic Girl is in the same spot I saw her last at with her new knife set.) But again, that's for the moment. It could change at any time, be ready…
Not A Shady Guy: I hope you liked it Shady, as I noted before, I wanted to do the pacifist route, but also take a little difference in path compared to the game. Events will still take place, but… we still have another ten chapters of crazy stuff to do! And something many readers have been wanting to happen will happen next chapter, hope you enjoy!
And there is another week folks! Oh my God we only have ten chapters remaining! And they are gonna be a mess of trouble, lovely moments, and insanity! I hope you all stick around for this, because as I've mentioned probably too many times… ehm.. sorry about that… one of my favorite chapters is next week!
Mystic Girl: Halloween, you've mentioned it like, a million times. Cool it. We get it.
Me: But how could I not?! Mystic, seriously! Its something everyone's been waiting on!
Mystic Girl: Yes, I know! (She sighs dramatically while shaking her head.) There's no stopping you until we post that chapter, is there?
Me: Not a chance in hell!
Mystic Girl: Figures, just… get it out of your system before something bad happens.
Me: No promises!
But anyway! We're all almost to the end, so I need to remind everyone that if they're going to send me ideas for the special story I've got during the months I've put aside, I'm going to need more ideas and soon. I only have roughly eleven ideas right now, which if I make us do once a week like normal, will get us by for about three months. But if you guys want me to post bi-weekly, I need a heck of a lot more! If you all want me to post a list of what ideas have been sent in to help you, I can do that if you want. Just let me know and I can post it at the end of next week's chapter!
Love you all and see you next week!
Halloween Witch and Mystic Girl
