Two Worlds, Two Souls
Chapter 84: Adjusting to Life
Frisk's Point of View:
"It's an honor to have you in our school, Miss Seeley."
"It's really cool to finally go to a school again!"
"I hope you enjoy our class. You'll be a part of Mrs. Nuti's classroom. You met her before with your sister when you applied last week, isn't that right?"
"Yeah, she seemed pretty cool."
"Wonderful! Now let's get you introduced to everyone."
I was giddy as I walked down the same hallways as I had when I was undercover as Frost the nymph. I was so happy that I could go back to the same class and the same people. I was signed up for everything, my sister and the staff had managed to fudge my records. That all the classes I was meant to pass this spring I had "already completed at home" so I could continue the course work or learn more when the next year came. Because of technically being added so late in the year, they could only add me to the basic classes. Science, math, history, literature… but I was able to squeeze into a music club. I managed to get a written recommendation from Blooky to help me there. The teacher was so surprised by the fact that it was from Blooky, a well-known DJ and an old student of his.
Granted, before I could go back my sister and Sans had a chat with me about what the king and the judge said I couldn't talk about. I wasn't allowed to talk about the mission I was on. Just give basic details to fill some gaps. A lot of stuff I couldn't tell Sophia, Jay, or even MK who knew I was under cover.
That was… if they still talked to me.
After I had revealed the drug trafficking ring, I'd texted my friends but never heard back from them. I wasn't sure if the information was too much for them at the time or if there was another reason for their silence. I saw only MK at the gathering when the king wanted to see my sister and I finally.
"And here we are!" The principal of the school noted before she stopped and knocked on the door. After waiting for an answer, I was led inside. The classroom looked the same as it always did, easy to slip into the basic desks and preform in class. Mrs. Nuti was only my homeroom teacher before I would head off to my classes as they had been organized like before. I would move classroom to classroom depending on what I was learning.
"Welcome to the class, Miss Seeley." I saw Mrs. Nuti stand from her desk to stand beside me and principal. "Everyone, lets give a warm welcome to our first human student. Miss Frisk Seeley."
All the kids sat in awe as they watched me. They did a similar thing back when I pretended to be Frost. I cast my gaze along the classroom before my eyes met that of Sophia's. She was looking out the window until she heard the commotion at the front. Her feathered fingers covered her mouth to hide the squawk that came out of her.
"Hi everyone!" I grinned at them. "I hope we can get along."
The room was quiet while Ms. Nuti directed me to the seat just beside Sophia in the back. I hurried to it, my original seat, before glancing over to Sophia.
"You wouldn't be able to show me around so I know where I'd heading to, would you Soph?"
Before I had a second to think, Sophia flew from her chair, jumping over it before she crashed into me. She hugged the life out of me while I attempted to keep upright.
"It really is you!"
"Of course, it is!" I giggled at her. "I'm back for good."
Later That Day:
"Holy shit…" Jay was the one to let out a curse word as we sat together hidden in the sports area. Some teams were practicing, but many of the students were currently in the hospital recovering from the drugs they were convinced of using. The sad part was it would go on their records. The only ones who wouldn't were Sophia and myself.
Speaking of the girl, she wedged herself right into my side as we sat there. She hardly had let me travel more than a few feet away in fear that I would leave again. I hardly minded it. She kinda was clingy like Angel and I could be.
Some of those feelings… I felt like protecting her from everything. I could only guess that's what Angel would always feel whoever we traveled or when she was keeping me safe. I could then understand how precious it was to protect others.
If I hadn't been there undercover… Sophia would have been a victim too of the drugs and maybe turned into another Will…
I never wanted that to happen…
"Yeah, so that's as much as I'm allowed to tell you guys without getting any of you in trouble." I shrugged from my spot. "I really am sorry for lying to you guys, but it was the orders of the king in order to catch those assholes who ruined so many lives."
Jay turned to our lizard friend. "And you knew about this MK?"
The tall yellow monster shrugged. "Only that she was doing an undercover mission for the king, and I knew that she was Frost. That's why sometimes I'd make the mistake when calling her name. I couldn't help but say her real one. Besides that, I had to be left in the dark since I was a victim in a way as well."
"But now it's all over!" Sophia commented quickly. "Right?"
I hugged her tightly to me. "Yeah, like I said, not more lying, no more secrets."
"But be real with me!" The girl continued to comment. "Was everything about your sister and her roommate a lie or true?"
"That's what you wanna know about?" Jay sighed. "Honestly Sophia, and I thought I was messed up when it came to cheesy romance."
"Totally true!" I snickered at them. "And now that you guys know the real me, I can introduce you to her and him! My sister Angel and my roommate Sans!"
"Maybe we can help them get together!" Sophia was giggling with me in no time while the guys sighed.
"You have a one-track mind Soph," Jay muttered.
"Awe let 'em be, Jay," MK snickered to the side. "Angel and Sans getting together has been a long time coming. It's like watching a couple want to be together, but for some stupid reason won't or whatever. It's been going on like that for two years."
"Hm…" Jay contemplated that for a few moments. "Fine, I'll hear this out."
Sophia chirped happily at him. "That's our Jay!"
"Come with me back to the house after school! The two of them have a few days off from work since we were accepted by the king!" I grinned, swinging my legs eagerly. "Oh wait… they're going to the labs today, but I'll text Angel and see if you guys can stay for dinner! She'll have no problem with it if you guys just make sure your parents are okay with it! Sans can teleport you home afterwards!"
"Oh, I can't wait to see where you've grown up!" Sophia giggled.
"Oh Soph…" MK shook his head with a light chuckle in his voice. "You have no idea."
Angel's Point of View:
"So, this is where we'll be spending some time?"
With Sans beside me, we teleported me before a building in the Capitol that was being used on research of souls. Six other human souls were captured there that had been saved for attempting to break the barrier. I would be the first living human that scientists got to play with… somewhat. The king and Sans would both be there to make sure that nothing too crazy would happen.
I promised both the king and Wingdings that I would try to assist the people of the underground in means of escaping their prison and trying to make it back to the surface. I was nervous for the day, but also excited. With this new task that the king gave to me, we were to meet once a week to allow the scientists time to gather data from me and place together hypothesis based on what evidence they gathered from myself.
"Yep." Sans noted from beside me. He hung closer to myself then he ever had before after we'd claimed our love for each other. Hooked to my hip, he stayed in close proximity with knowing eye lights trailing over me. "Supposed ta be just info gatherin' today. Harder work'll be next week."
"Okay… that doesn't sound too bad…" I placed a finger to my chin before glancing at my partner. "What do you think they'll make me do?"
"Probably test yer magical might first." He shrugged. "They wanna see how much magic ya can use at once dependin' on situations. They'll measure the amount ya put out from a computer. Probably ask ya some questions, Precious."
"I see…"
With that, Sans led me into the building. I was surprised to see many monsters rushing about, working at hundreds of computers in a busy large grand entrance while Sans and I moved toward the back. Standing there already was the king, Alphys, Undyne, and another scientist that I didn't recognize. He was lizard like in nature, the same as Alphys, however he was tall, narrow and black scale colored. Eyes were a rich red the glanced between those he was speaking to before his eyes landed on me.
"Excuse me, your majesty. It appears our main attendee has arrived." Everyone turned just as Sans and I strolled up next to them. Everyone turned quickly to see us arrived before Undyne was the first to speak, giving us a toothy grin.
"Nice to see ya dorks!"
"Good to see you too, Undyne, Alphys Asgore." I then turned my head to the newest part of the group. "I'm sure know already, but I'm Angel Seeley. One of the two humans in the underground. It's nice to meet you."
"It's a pleasure, Miss Seeley. You may call me Ra. For my true name is quite the mouthful." The new lizard chuckled. "We do appreciate your willingness to help us with the final leg of perhaps freeing us from this barrier. The good doctor Alphys has already shown me some video footage of yourself when using short, high burst of magic in moments of fear and desperation. I would like to get a read of how much magic it is when your using that much, if at all possible."
I nodded my head quickly. "Okay."
"For this exercise that we will be doing, Captain Undyne von Undying of the guard has volunteered to face you. We know as monsters who use magic quite often that our best potential is normally brought out when we are placed into a bind. So, we would like the captain to face you and we would like you to exert as much as you can. But do not worry, we have medics on hand should things get out of hand."
I blinked at that. "So, you want me to spar with her?"
The scientist shook his head. "I'm afraid I need more than that. I need you actively using large portions of your magic to get accurate numbers. A simple 'spar' would not lead up to that. Your goal is to knock out the captain, or would wound her that she can no longer face you. Her goal is to do the same."
The nerves in my hands I couldn't help but clench. Butterflies piled in my stomach. This was not what I was expecting… "I'm not sure how I feel about this anymore…"
The male bowed his head. "I apologize, but it will be only this one time. Again, it is only to get accurate readings. We need you to exercise no restraint as you face her."
"Don't worry about it punk!" Undyne giggled in glee. "Ya can't hurt me that bad!"
But that's worse… The inward panic began as I turned to face Sans. He knew how I hated to use my magic for fighting or hurting anyone, and normally only used it when dire necessary. Any time I spared with someone, especially Undyne, it was normally just to keep her at bay. The only times she'd seen my true potential was when I saved MK during our chase, or when I first woke up after loosing my arm.
My partner gave me a grim look, knowing how much I hated this, but also that it needed to be done. He couldn't say anything, but his eye lights said it all.
I had to do it.
"Fine." With a heavy sigh, I agreed reluctantly. "But be aware that I don't like this. And Undyne? You'd best be ready."
"Ha! Like you're gonna take me out!"
"Clearly." I didn't dare say another word as the tension in the room began to grow. The scientists' shivered as they watched me before Alphys stuttered.
"A-angel, this w-way."
Following my friend, I made my way down deeper into the building where a large room was set up with massive plates for walls with the exception of one glass panel. I was led into the room before Alphys stopped me and placed a band around my wrist.
"T-this w-will measure your s-soul's power t-that you s-send o-out." Alphys passed in her attaching it to me and her claws went limp. "I-I'm s-sorry Angel… I-I know y-you don't like t-this…"
"Yeah, I just hope Undyne's ready for me to actually be serious for once."
"W-w-what?!" Alphys froze at my words while I looked at her. I don't know what she saw in my eyes, but it frightened my little friend. "O-oh dear! O-oh dear!"
She finished what she was doing before she rushed out of the room. I could see the extra four parties up above while Undyne took her place only twenty paces away from me.
"Alright Punk!" Her cry rang out in the room. "Hit me with your best shot!"
"Not so fast Undyne." The woman showed me a scowl before she saw my eyes turn red and chains all around me begin to glow. "You know I hate fighting, and there's a reason. You want me to go all out? Prove it."
Chains of mine launched all over the room, coating at least half of it in protective layers of chains, they moved and weaved about and kept me grounded to my spot. Undyne's eye widened as she watched them cover the entire area around me. Chains latched around my legs and locked me to the area I stood in.
"If you really want me to go all out against you, then prove it. You have to get me to move from this spot. I don't want you seriously hurt."
At that point, my wrist began to beep loudly. I ignored the device and continued to stare down Undyne while she gawked at me.
"Are you friggin' serious?!" She eventually snarled at me. "Fine! I'll show ya!"
Wasting no time, hundreds of spears appeared in the air and were hurled at me. However, her attack was deflected easily by my chains that whipped up and created a wall like barrier to protect myself. When enough of them had settled, the chains parted so I could see Undyne with an irritated look on her face.
I narrowed my eyes at her. "Is that all you got?"
"Fuck no!" And just like that, more spears came at me.
Like before, my walls of the magically made metal became my defense. Strong and durable, it might have been able to withstand an explosive.
I wasn't surprised, however, when Undyne forcibly pulled the chains back herself so that she could slip past them. She managed to wedge her arm and her head through before my chains yanked her backward, gripping her ankle. She cried out as she was hurled backward into the wall behind her.
Yet, just as soon as she was released from the chain, she jumped from the crater that her body made. The wall was somewhat damaged from the throw, but Undyne was still raring to go.
"This is a hella lot more fun than sparin'!" Undyne did surprised me by still showing me a wicked grin. Her eye gleamed and glowed, green over-lay her golden eye. "This means I can go all out too!"
My eyes narrowed just a fraction as the woman reached to where her ankles were and unhooked something from around them. I watched carefully as it appeared to be… weights? Many of them. They hardly looked like they weighted much at all when I glanced at them. Hardly the size of a bar of metal wrapped in cloth. I counted at least seven of them wrapped up in the cloth as Undyne unwrapped them and gave me a toothy grin.
But I knew better that Undyne would not use some cheep easy weights, they would be intense, heavy and certainly cause some damage if used as a weapon or a distraction.
The moment felt very anime-like as she hurled them forward in the air.
"Now I can go all out! Don't you fuckin' hold back on me Angel!"
It was when the weights hit the floor that Undyne made her move. As during the impact, the ground shook in their might. Dust was kicked up and used as a momentary smokescreen as Undyne made her move. She flew forward, her body faster then I'd ever seen her before. With what little I could see of her as she sprung forward at super speeds, she raced around the wall of chains that came up to protect me.
My head quickly whipped to where I felt her feet step on. She stepped over the chains so quickly I could hardly catch her. Just as I thought I'd find where she was as she raced around me, she moved. She kept that up while punching at my defenses. She was quickly seeing just how much faster she had to be to get around my chains.
"Eat this!" Just before either my chains or me could turn to my right, I felt a punch land itself right across my cheek. The force of it would have broken a normal person's face and shattered it into pieces.
But I wasn't normal, and neither was Undyne.
The chains that were wrapped around my body protected me from most of the attack. Undyne quickly saw that, she waisted not a second longer to land a punch to my gut. That hit yanked me off the ground and had me away from where most of my chains where that kept me anchored.
Yet Undyne didn't stop there. She wanted to make a point. Her foot came next and hit just under my chin before she was grabbed by the chains. One wrong foot placement had her hurled away from me into a wall.
"Ha!" Her triumphant cry rang out as she pulled herself form the wall. An indent of her body cast into the metal sheets. "I got ya to move!"
"You did."
I expected as much from the captain of the guard when she got serious. But that also meant that I had to come through with my end of the bargain.
"Now show me you going all out!"
I sighed, but I had promised her. "Alright."
For most of those from my family, what I could do right now was normally the limit of their abilities and strength. But for those of the family who were like me, who had a deceased person's soul attached to their own, well… For lack of a better word, I basically summoned that soul that was attached to me for a short period of time to help me fight.
I had three to choose from, but I knew it wouldn't settle well if I'd asked Wingdings to assist me, at least, not at that time. My parents would have been more effective. I knew their movements like the back of my hand. It was easier to move together with them.
"Dad… I'd like to ask for your help."
From the area before me, a set of chains circled the area before where magic began to gather. I could feel such a terrible pain in my chest as I summoned him that it ached. Struggling to hold back the coughing or dry heaving, my soul pulled just from my chest to let a white chain reveal itself along with a red soul that could be seen as shattered all the way through.
Undyne's eyes widened as she saw this and the glowing form of another human appeared. Outlined in glowing red magic, my father's body was brought back, if only for a few minutes. His glowing red eyes narrowed at my friend, before a grin set forward and he charged.
His speed was insane as he dove forward and was able to get in a punch as well as a kick before Undyne dived to the side. Just as Undyne moved, she forgot momentarily that I was her true opponent. I flew forward, swinging on my chains that flung me, and attacked. A swift kick to her jaw she hardly had a chance to defend against before I moved back and my father charged.
"Enough!" The call rang out over the speakers and quickly did we both halt. Both Undyne and myself were panting pretty heavily as she sat on the ground and I allowed my hold on my father's soul to vanish. As soon as I left him go, the pounding pain in my chest began to decrease.
It was only then that I noticed that the device on me was screeching. I was surprised that I hadn't heard the thing in the entire time we were fighting. I barely had a second to notice before I felt my body slump to the ground. Deep breath coming in and out of my lungs while healers and friends rushed into the room.
"My dear lord… what an amazing spectacle of magic! These numbers will greatly help our research and improve our knowledge of humans with magic and what they are capable of." I could hear Ra's voice in the background while I panted, keeping my eyes closed for a moment. "My king, the readings that she gave us our out of this world-"
"Yes, yes, tend to Angel and Undyne first, then we can discuss them."
"Oh yes! My apologies!"
I felt hands on me then, I dared to open my eyes long enough to look around and see who was there. I could feel healing magic coursing over me, trying to heal what little damage Undyne had done to me, but more so used for the damage I'd done to myself.
"Here, Precious." I whipped my head in the other direction as Sans' voice I heard. I felt a boney hand on my cheek, even as my eyes struggled to come back into focus. "Ya okay?"
"I hate fighting…" And with those couple of raspy words escaped me, I could taste the copper in my mouth from where I felt some come up my throat. It always sucked when I used that technique. There was a reason it was only used in case of emergencies.
"Shit! Angel? Precious? Hey, need'ja ta look at me. Kay?"
I tried to raise my head to look at him, but I lowered it just as quickly. It was very difficult in those moments. "I… need… a minute…"
"That is more than enough for the day." Asgore's voice rang out. "Alphys, I want you personally to overlook Angel's recovery with Sans and the healers. We will reconvene next when you think is best. Angel will not be involved in any test during the next gathering, just information meetings. Am I understood?"
"Yes sir."
The king was not argued with while I was tended to.
"Angel, t-talk to us… w-where's the pain?"
With slow and shaky fingers, I lifted them to point to my chest. The limb felt too heavy to keep up once I had managed to show them.
"Precious? Undyne didn't hit ya there, did she?"
"N… no…" I tried to get my breath back. It had been such a long time since I used that power, but it still hurt like a bitch afterward. "M… me…"
"A-are you t-trying to s-say y-you caused t-that p-p-pain?"
Taking a few more careful breaths, I was able to lift my head long enough to see blurry versions of their faces pop up into my vision. I coughed a bit, feeling the blood run in small trickles down the palm of my hand. "D… determination magic… it gives… the appearance… of having unlimited strength… but it… can be… the chains t-that… drag you down…"
Witch's Note:
Oh boy… one of the chapters I've been looking forward to for a long time! Seeing the true extent of determination magic for the select few who were in the special bracket as Angel. We see one of the few times where she pushed herself to the full brink of using her magic. Using her parents were almost a life/death move that could take her life if used for long periods. Yikes.
But we also get a chance to see Frisk with her friends again back in a school setting! I know you guys have all been wanting more chapters like those, and there will be a few more in the second book once we get to it! Hope you all got to enjoy that!
Now, what do we have to look forward to next? That will be the fun guess. Next chapter is another one of my favorites! No telling what it's about it!
Okay then, let's move onto reviews!
Thechaosmaster: Oh, I knew you'd like that one! It's been part of the burning passion I've had to keep this story going just to get to that special moment! And there's more to come, so don't you dare miss out on anything!
With you being such a fan of romance, I have a feeling you'll like the next chapter. (Wink, wink!)
MajorKO: Hey! I haven't seen your name around in a while! Glad to see you with us! Happy to see you enjoying the chapter, and yes, they finally made it to the 'bone zone'! Haha! Oh, it's been a long time coming. Wish I could have posted it a long time ago, but this was meant to be a slow burn story. We only had to wait like eighty-three chapters!
Shadow Phantom: Right on the money like always Shadow! Its almost like they were married, but not quite. Their souls are trying to merge, but haven't just yet! Something maybe to come? Who knows? But I do know there's a lot more to be seen!
And I love the fact that you already guessing that they're going to have children! Oh, I have some lovely plots for you in the future!
Commander: Oh yes, Flowey is out there plotting like he always is. How long until he reveals himself? He doesn't have that much longer with there only being… oh my God! Eight chapters left! That's all we got! Oh my God!
(Under such a tremendous amount of sheer emotions, Mystic Girl drops the entire set of knives she was practicing juggling and throwing with to scream and run around in circles like a little kid on a sugar high. With no way to contain herself, I left her be while buzzing in my chair as well.)
But anyway, like I was saying, if he's gonna do anything this story, he's gotta do it soon or else I'm gonna run out of chapters!
Dasansi: Hey hey! We're not that far from the end! Don't tell me this wasn't a slow burn! (I'm laughing I promise!) But as for the question you had about monsters with reproduction, that depends on the monster. I tried not to go into the details too much so that it didn't become some sort of smutty sex novel, but Sans and Angel will go into detail more about it in the future, but I can give some basic details. Monsters, being made of magic, reproduce through their souls. They can still preform acts of sex and what not with some modification through their magic, but procreation is through the merging of souls and thus creating a spark during intimate feelings/actions. For monsters who do not possess a womb to carry a child, for example, Sans and Papyrus' mother, the spark is attached to their soul and after a certain period of it slowly gathering magic from their parent who has the spark attached to their soul (notice how I didn't specify FEMALE) until it is ready to gather a great deal of magic from the parent/parents to rapidly grow, take shape, forming a body, spark turning into a soul and so on.
But that's roughly how its going to go, more description will be explained when its time for that part of the story!
Phew! What another great chapter done! With only eight chapters to go, things are closing up soon! Oh I can't wait for everyone to see more chapters! And damn it all, they're coming fast! Is it bad that I don't want this story to end? Even if I know more material is going to be there for you all to read even after this is over?
Love you all and see you next week!
