Chapter 8: A Taste of More to Come

Thursday 12th July Age 792

"Welcome back to the Quarter-Finals of the World Martial Arts Tournament!" The announcer exclaimed, with something akin to glee. "We have had to say goodbye to eight of the sixteen great finalists, but now we're getting into the really tough parts of the competition. We cannot wait for you to see what happens today!"

"It's definitely an exciting time," Mr. Satan agreed. "It's a shame that my student went out in the first round, but my grand-daughter and son-in-law will go head-to-head today, and Mr. Buu is still in with a chance, it's going to be a fun day."

"Well, we've been keeping you waiting long enough, folks. Both Vegeta and Wun are in the waiting area, and they are itching to get out here and get the fights started," The announcer explained. "We are just fifteen minutes away from the start of the Quarter-Finals!"

There were definitely more than the eight competing fighters sitting in the waiting room at that time. Obviously Noca, Vegeta, Uub, Piccolo, Pan, Gohan, Buu, and Wun were all there, but they were joined by Goku, Goten, Trunks, and Krillin this time. It was honestly the best place to be, as far as they were concerned.

The announcer was always nice to them considering they were past fighters, history makers, and some had competed in this tournament.

Vegeta was strutting about with a confidence, or was it arrogance?

"Another battle for me to breeze through. This will be easy," Vegeta said, a smirk on his face. Goku was trying to convince him not to underestimate his opponent, but the proud Saiyan Prince was having none of it. Noca, like Goku, was a little concerned about Wun as well, or he would have been, were he not already preoccupied with Pan.

"You feeling ok?" He asked her, sitting beside her on one of the benches. She seemed a little closed off, but she truly appreciated how interested and concerned Noca was. She could see just how much he cared about her.

"I'm feeling better," She said, smiling weakly at Noca. "I just need to focus on the fight and show my dad how much I've prepared for this," she said, showing her own confidence. It proved to Noca that even though she was feeling conflicted, Pan was still enthusiastic about her fight. Noca put his arm around her but did his best to make it seem like just a friendly hug, so they could avoid teasing from the likes of Goten and Trunks.

Vegeta wasn't really bothering with doing any big warm-ups or anything like that, he just assumed he was going to go out there and walk through his opponent like they were nothing. Although, Vegeta had to admit it was a little concerning that his opponent was also doing nothing. Wun had just been standing in the same spot, waiting for his name to be called. Vegeta glared towards Wun, trying to get a read of him.

It wasn't possible. Vegeta was thinking that the fighter was using his size as a means to intimidate him, that was the only theory he had.

Noca had to admit, he was a little concerned about Vegeta. He could tell that Wun was going to be a tough opponent, he only really had the fight with Omar to go on, and Omar was no match for the likes of Vegeta, but something about that fight gave Noca some sort of insight. Vegeta's over-confidence wasn't impressing him either. It almost seemed forced.

Goku looked over to Noca, catching his eye, and they could both read the worries on each other's' faces.

"What is it, Noca?" Goku asked.

"It's Wun. He worries me. He reminds me of someone I met before, but this is different, somehow," Noca explained, realising none of that was helpful.

"We can only just keep an eye on him, and hope he doesn't do anything wrong," Goku assured Noca, with a smirk. Noca nodded, but he wasn't entirely convinced.

He sat back down beside Pan, realising that she still wasn't talking to Goku, despite Noca's suggestion that she do so. She was sure that she just needed time to herself to think about it all. Noca just didn't want her going into the fight with her father still carrying that anger towards Goku.

Pan also understood that Noca was just trying to help, and she loved that, but he needed to accept that she needed her time. Which he seemed to understand as well. Maybe it was because Noca had taken his time before revealing his truth to Pan that he knew what it was like to need to process things yourself before letting other people in.

When the fifteen minutes were eventually up, the announcer's voice was heard over the PA system and the two fighters were asked to come out to the stage. Vegeta strode out with immense confidence, kept his head up, his arms folded, and his arrogant swagger was there on show for everyone to see. Wun seemed to walk along with confidence as well, but he also didn't seem entirely there. Almost like his mind was on something else.

Once the fighters stepped up onto the stage, they each stood opposite one another on their own sides, neither acknowledged the other. Wun stood there, motionless, either deep in thought, or thoughtless. Vegeta was still saw it as confidence and arrogance, but maybe he was just too distracted by his own thoughts and feelings going into the fight.

The bell rang, signalling that they could begin the fight and Vegeta decided to instantly make the first move, hoping to end the fight as quickly as possible. He phased from view completely and when he reappeared, he kicked Wun in the side of the head, knocking the fighter off of his feet and sending him bouncing across the stage.

Wun very quickly came to a stop and hovered above the stage a little before setting back down on the surface. Vegeta was annoyed that his attack hadn't knocked Wun all the way to the edge and out of the ring like he had hoped would happen, so he decided to keep going.

He charged through the air and punched Wun in the gut, lifting him up into the air. Wun let his body fly through the air, almost lifeless, but he suddenly sprung to life and steadied himself, halting all movement and remained floating up in the air.

Wun glanced down towards Vegeta and moved his arm forward, slowly beckoning for Vegeta to attack him again. The Saiyan Prince growled in anger and shot back towards Wun, aiming an uppercut into the stranger's chin, and then he knocked the large man's arms out of the way, creating an opening for him to unleash a rapid barrage of about thirty punches into the fighter's gut.

The strange man looked down and watched Vegeta punching away at extreme speed, and then he decided to go for his first attack. He clamped both of his hands around Vegeta's head and started to tighten the grip, almost like he was trying to crush Vegeta's skull. The Prince could certainly feel the tension, and it slowly became pain. He didn't want to show Wun that his attack was causing some sort of damage so he tried to continue punching Wun in the gut, with the hopes that the large man would be knocked back.

Wun wasn't affected, and he lifted Vegeta up, hands still clamped around his head, and brought the Prince to eye-level. Vegeta was glaring towards Wun and didn't expect what came next. Wun brought Vegeta's head down, slamming it right into his knee, and he continued to repeat the attack a few more times.

People in the audience were gasping and muttering amongst themselves, unsettled by the brutality of the attack. Any friends and allies of Vegeta knew better than to assume he was done for and could only hope the Prince would find his own way out of the attack.

Vegeta definitely saw what was happening to him as humiliation, and he wasn't one to just roll over and take it. He found himself heading for Wun's knee again and this time managed to stick his hands out to stop the next impact. With his hands against Wun's knee Vegeta decided to power up a Ki blast that exploded almost instantly, throwing the two fighters away from each other.

Both fighters immediately started moving higher into the air, away from the smoke cloud that had been created by Vegeta's attack, and then they charged towards each other. Vegeta sent his right fist towards Wun's face, but the attempt was caught with ease. He then tried to jab his left in, but again, that one was caught.

Vegeta was surprised by Wun's showing, but he didn't have time to dwell on it as Wun crossed Vegeta's arms in front of him and the Prince realised they were bending in an uncomfortable way and he groaned a little in pain. He was holding it back as much as he could.

Wun was proving to be very strong, despite the previous assumptions Vegeta had made based purely on his own power. Vegeta had been so sure of himself. Things had certainly changed. The Prince tried to pull away but Wun just wouldn't let him. Vegeta opened his hands again to try another Ki blast but didn't get the chance as Wun slammed his head forwards into Vegeta's, headbutting his opponent over and over.

The Prince tried to make sure he didn't let out any sounds to show he was in pain; he didn't want to show anyone any signs of weakness. Although, that meant Vegeta was lying to himself about the kind of pain he was in, something he hadn't really paid attention to until he saw his own blood on Wun's forehead. Vegeta was suddenly very aware of the pain in his nose, and the warm feeling around it.

"That's enough!" Vegeta yelled, following up with a scream of power as his Ki erupted from him, pushing Wun away. Vegeta backed away quickly, preparing for a big attack to try and cause some significant damage to the opponent.

He charged up his energy and shot back in towards Wun, throwing a fist towards his face. The jab struck Wun's cheek, turning his head in one direction, but then Vegeta followed it with an uppercut into his opponent's gut. He then jumped up and kicked Wun in the face before falling back and then charging in, drilling his foot into Wun's gut.

As his foot dug in, Wun managed to grip Vegeta around the ankle and started to swing him around in a circle, making the Prince dizzy. Once he believed that Vegeta was disorientated, Wun flew back down towards the stage and slammed Vegeta's body into the concrete, while still keeping a hold of his ankle, so he could pull back and repeat the movement. The more he slammed Vegeta down against the stage the more he started to chip away at it.

Vegeta let out a grunt and groan of pain each time he struck the stage, and his Pride was hitting an all-time low at that moment. He opened one of his eyes to see the numerous cracks, chips, and splatters of blood on the white concrete. Wun finished his attack by letting go of Vegeta in the air, grabbing a hold of his head by wrapping his entire hand around it, and then he proceeded to slam it down with all of his might, right into the stage.

As he did this, a small head sized hole formed in the concrete and Wun let go, with Vegeta planted. Wun stepped back, almost admiring his work.

"This is so…" Pan started, putting her hands over her mouth.

"Brutal," Noca finished, unable to take his eyes off of it. Goku and Gohan were both standing to attention, very concerned about what they were seeing, and even though no one noticed, Gohan would occasionally glance down at Pan, trying to gauge her response.

Vegeta slowly managed to pull himself up and turned to look at his opponent. The Saiyan Prince was never easily beaten, but even he had to admit that Wun hadn't allowed him a chance to even show what he was capable of. It was frightening. He started to come to terms with the fact that he let his arrogance get the better of him. He even went into the fight without going Super Saiyan, holding back, allowing Wun to get the better of him.

The Prince didn't hesitate to move quickly, and he darted towards Wun again, jumped into the air and swiped his leg down and around, aiming for Wun's neck. The large fighter was knocked off balance by the attack but not for long. Vegeta didn't waste time though. He jumped above Wun and slammed his fists down onto the man's large head. Wun was knocked flat on the ground, but as Vegeta was about to drill another fist down into his gut, Wun phased out and Vegeta only struck the tiles, sending his hand through it.

He looked up and saw Wun was still hovering nearby. The Saiyan powered up again and shot up at Wun with an attempt to overpower his enemy, even though he hadn't been successful up to that point. He stopped right in front of Wun, slamming a right hook across his face. This knocked the large man to the side and Vegeta phased just underneath him using both of his feet to kick him up into the sky.

Wun rolled through the air but managed to stop. He wasn't offered a lot of time, however, as Vegeta darted right to him and unleashed a punch that struck him deep in his gut. As Wun bent down the Prince performed an overhead kick that sent Wun soaring down towards the stage again. Vegeta watched Wun smash down in the stage and started to rise higher in the sky, holding his hand out in front of him, aimed down at Wun.

Vegeta was starting to feel like he actually had a chance, but he wouldn't slack now. With his hand still held in front of him, a blue energy started to form. The Prince waited until the energy growing in that ball reached an acceptable level.

Down on the ground, Wun moved and looked up, feeling the energy building. He shot up towards Vegeta in an attempt to stop him from doing the attack, but the expression on his face made it seem like he was unfazed by the attack.

Vegeta had Wun right where he wanted him. He smirked.

"Big Bang Attack," he muttered to himself, unleashing the attack.

The energy ball soared down towards the target, but still Wun didn't stop flying up as the ball rolled through the air right for him. Vegeta's smirk grew wider as he started to feel like he had won it, even though it had seemed rough for a moment.

Wun remained on target, as did the attack. Almost like they were playing a game of chicken with each other. They were going to crash head on, and this had some of the people in the crowd getting worried about the outcome.

The blast connected with Wun, and a brilliant flash of light engulfed the entire stadium, and the attack managed to live up to its name, creating quite a huge blast radius, although it was nowhere near enough to affect anyone in the crowd. The explosion did send an amazing amount of energy radiating through the air, and a shock wave echoed off for a little bit, but a lot of smoke was also created. Mix that with the light and it was impossible to really see what had happened.

Vegeta remained stationary in the air, his hand still held out in front of him. His smirk began to fade as something crazy and impossible started to dawn on him.

The smoke was moving away and clearing, and through it Vegeta could see the silhouette of his opponent. Wun was barely slowed down by his attack. He was still in top fighting condition. Vegeta's arms fell by his sides and he clenched his fists.

Wun looked towards Vegeta and something different happened with his face, he actually managed to smirk, after appearing emotionless all that time. Vegeta was starting to worry that he wasn't going to last much longer and maybe he actually needed to go Super Saiyan.

"My turn," Wun muttered.

Vegeta's aura was just starting to grow as he focussed his energy towards turning Super Saiyan but Wun moved too quick for him and darted right towards Vegeta. The large fighter slammed his fist down on the top of Vegeta's head and the Saiyan Prince fell towards the ground, but barely made it within touching distance of the stage before Wun phased below him and threw a fist up into Vegeta's back.

There was an audible crack heard throughout the stadium and Vegeta let out something that could only be described as a yelp of pain. People in the audience gasped and looked away, knowing the situation was looking dire for yet another of Wun's opponents. Vegeta could hardly move, let alone focus his Ki towards turning Super Saiyan anymore.

Wun reeled back his free arm and sent another fist up into Vegeta's back, sending him soaring into the air again. The large fighter shot up and above Vegeta and pounded a strong punch right into the Prince's face, but before Vegeta's body had a chance to fly back towards the ground Wun grabbed the front of Vegeta's blue spandex vest, pulling him back.

Keeping a grip on Vegeta's vest, Wun slammed his fist, repeatedly, into Vegeta's face. The more he did it, the more blood poured from Vegeta's nose and mouth. Wun wasn't showing signs of letting up, and there were clearly no signs that Vegeta planned to give in.

Wun's grip on the vest, as well as his punches, were so strong that it was causing the material to slowly rip. Only a few more hits and it would surely tear completely. Wun started to notice that it was happening, and he seemed to tighten his grip and pull back for one last punch. He unleashed it with an incredible force and the material finally ripped, coupled with the impact of the punch and Vegeta was propelled down towards the ground at a tremendous pace.

He fell, and it didn't look like he was going to move at all, but no one could interfere. If Vegeta landed on the stage and managed to stand up, then the fight could continue.

Vegeta was lucky. He struck down on the stage and his body twitched slightly. The announcer looked over at the stage, at Vegeta's almost lifeless body and he was unsure of what to do. He looked up at Wun and then over to Vegeta and realised he had duties. He moved towards the stage.

"If Vegeta cannot get back to his feet in ten seconds then he will lose the fight," The announcer called out and then he readied himself to start the count. "One…"

As soon as the announcer started the count Vegeta's leg moved a little, and then his arms, and then the other leg and soon enough he was attempting to get back to his feet.

"Wow! It seems that Vegeta has it in him to carry on!" The announcer called out, but there was definitely concern in his voice.

Vegeta was breathing raggedly and he seemed to be seething with rage. He took in a deep breath, let out a low growl and then followed that with a blood curdling scream as his energy flared up all around him and his power level shot up drastically. All the other Saiyans knew what was about to come next. Vegeta's flaring aura was golden and soon enough his hair became the same colour.

Once a Super Saiyan Vegeta felt like he could ignore all the pain in his body, even though he was well aware it would have a worse effect in the long run. It was only temporary. He needed to win the fight. He held his arms wide and drew in as much power as he saw possible. Ki energy was flaring all around him as he powered up one of his other signature attacks.

The power was rising, and rising, and Vegeta wasn't going to stop until he had as much as he believed he needed to take out the opponent. When he reached that level, he threw his hands forward, aimed up towards Wun.

"FINAL FLASH!" He screamed, unleashing the blast. The wave rocketed towards Wun and the man was unsure of what to make of it. He didn't move, but it soon became apparent that he didn't need to as the energy veered off of its target as Vegeta began to lose consciousness and control of the attack. The energy soared off higher and higher into the air, seemingly never finding a target.

Vegeta fell to his knees and let all his energy dissipate. He dropped to his base form and fell flat on his front, unconscious.

"And… it seems that Vegeta has fainted," The announcer explained. He swallowed hard and looked up to the man in the sky. "So, Wun progresses to the next round."

Even the announcer seemed a little disappointed that Wun had beaten Vegeta and made it through to the next round, but he wasn't allowed to be biased, he had to try and keep his enthusiasm up, despite what they had seen from this competitor.

A medical team rushed out to get Vegeta up on gurney so they could take him off to the hospital wing. As they passed through the waiting area Gohan managed to quickly place a Senzu bean in Vegeta's hand, knowing that the man should find consciousness soon enough to get the bean into his mouth.

Trunks rushed off with them, worried about how his father might react when he wakes up. The other fighters remained in the waiting area and were informed that there would be a short delay due to the condition of the stage at the end of that fight. As Wun walked into the waiting area and continued through to the exit Noca and Gohan both had their eyes fixed on the large fighter, and once he left the room, they both turned to face each other and then looked to Pan.

The girl didn't notice that both her father and Noca were looking at her, and she was sitting beside Noca. He turned to completely face her and toyed with what he should say to her next.

"Are you still ok to fight?" Noca asked, taking into account everything that had happened the previous day with her and Goku, and now expecting that seeing Wun fight might change how she felt about advancing.

"What do you mean?" Pan asked, almost offended by what Noca was suggesting.

"Well, you know… with what we just saw. Wun would be your next opponent if you beat your dad," Noca explained.

"Yeah, and?" Pan questioned, moving away from Noca a little bit, getting quite annoyed with him. "Do you think I can't take care of myself?"

"I just think that's he's a very tough opponent and he won't go easy on you," Noca answered, honestly.

"It's a tournament, I would expect him to try," Pan snapped back.

"He… he could have killed Vegeta," Noca said, in an almost hushed tone so that no one else was drawn into their conversation. For a brief moment Pan's brow furrowed and she was ready to say something, but then she saw the worried look on Noca's face and felt what he did. Her expression softened.

"I still have to try and beat my dad first," Pan said, her tone significantly changing. Noca felt calmer that she wasn't being argumentative, but she was still planning to keep fighting and Noca felt like he couldn't change that.

"I don't want to see you get too hurt," Noca said, looking her in the eyes. Pan put her hand on Noca's and smiled.

"Let's see how my fight with my dad goes first, shall we?" Pan suggested. Noca sighed and nodded. Pan got up to go and wash up before her fight, and probably use the restroom, and Noca took that as a chance to speak to Gohan.

The adult already knew what Noca was thinking, it only made sense.

"I won't let her win," Gohan said before Noca even had a chance to speak up.

"Ok," Noca mumbled in response.

"Neither of us want to see her go up against that monster, and I won't let it happen," Gohan assured Noca, placing a hand on his shoulder. Noca smirked up at Gohan and then walked away, taking his seat back on the bench. He had no reason to assume Gohan was going to allow Pan the chance to advance and put herself in such a dangerous situation, he was her father, he would be just as protective as Noca.

When Pan returned there were only a few minutes remaining until the next fight was starting. She passed by her father as she made her way back to Noca.

"You ready for this," Gohan asked. Pan stopped and turned to face him, standing at attention with a serious expression plastered on her face.

"Of course. I can't wait to defeat you," Pan said, ending it with a little smirk. Gohan scoffed and turned to look towards the door that led out.

"You still have a long way to go until you have any hopes of beating me," Gohan stated, glancing down at Pan and winking.

She pouted and turned away, walking back to Noca. She sat down beside the boy and took a deep breath.

"I think you'll do fine. He's very strong but I'm sure you can hold your own," Noca assured her, although it was probably a lie. Gohan was probably leagues ahead of Pan, if only for his experience in real life or death situations more than anything. Pan looked to him and smiled.

"Thanks, for supporting me," Pan said, her smile fading. She seemed to glance around the room out of the corner of her eye, and Noca tried to look to see what she was looking for, but as he turned, she planted a very quick kiss on his cheek and jumped up, walking towards the door.

He smiled as he watched her practically skip away. She rushed up to the door and stopped, waiting for the announcer's next call.

"If Gohan and Pan could please make their way out here please, we can get this next match started as soon as possible. There are still two more fights to come after this one," The announcer's call echoed through the PA system.

Pan took a deep breath, released and stepped out, alongside her father. The announcer said whatever else he needed to say to the audience to get them warmed up, speaking about how it was father versus daughter and stuff like that, Pan was tuning it all out. She got on the stage and moved to her side, preparing herself for the imminent start.

Pan moved into her stance and the bell sounded, signalling that the fighters could start whenever they were ready. Pan waited, expecting her father to move into his own stance, but he didn't move a muscle and just remained in that spot. Gohan studied his daughter's stance and noticed that it was different to the one she would utilise in their training, but it was quite similar to his own, showing that she picked up a lot in their training.

"Why haven't you moved into a stance?" Pan asked her father.

"I wanted to see how you've improved first," Gohan stated, holding out a hand, motioning for Pan to start. "Hit me with all you've got."

"This isn't a training session, it's a real fight," Pan snapped, glaring at the man. Gohan scoffed and motioned again. Pan grunted.

He didn't even power up his Ki. He just stood there, looking at her. Pan was confused by what he was planning but she also didn't want to waste time. She powered up a little, making sure to keep her aura hidden, and she leapt towards her father. She aimed for a gut punch but the adult Saiyan easily caught her first, making it look far too easily.

Pan groaned in annoyance and pulled away, then she attempted to use her other fist to punch up into his face. Once again, Gohan stuck out a hand and caught her hand again. Pan managed to pull away again and landed a fair distance away from her father, planning something else.

She darted in again and phased at the last moment. Gohan didn't react, keeping his senses tracked on the girl. Pan was swiftly moving around Gohan, trying to find the ideal time to strike, but even though his position hadn't changed Pan found it very difficult to think of how to catch him out. She appeared behind Gohan and attempted to punch him in the back of the head, but he simply moved his head a few inches to the side and the attempt missed.

Pan immediately phased out of view again, frustrated with herself. Gohan smirked to himself upon realising Pan was going to try and stick with the same plan, hoping that he would slip up. He knew he could try and catch her out. She continued to move around again, trying to determine the best opening.

The teenager phased in next to him and attempted to kick him that time, again in the back of the head, but Gohan moved forward, the kick sailed over and completely missed. She phased out yet again and moved around. She hoped that the plan that was slowly developing in her head would actually work, if she played her cards right. Gohan kept focus on Pan, sure she would attempt the same thing again.

Pan phased next to him once more and that time attempted to sweep his legs. Ok, it was a change up from the last two times, but it was in the same ballpark, however, once Noca jumped up to avoid Pan's leg that was when her plan kicked into play. She immediately phased out as he jumped, and she reappeared right in front of him and attempted a punch in his face.

Fortunately for her, the attack struck home and Gohan was knocked back, slightly. He had already leapt off of the ground, so it meant he wasn't in complete control and fell awkwardly back to the stage. Before he landed Pan moved underneath him and kicked up, sending him up into the air a little bit. She attempted to follow after him, but Gohan quickly regained control and crossed his arms in front of him, blocking another attempted hit.

Pan's fist connected with his arms and a minor shockwave rumbled just around them. The position wasn't held for very long as Pan decided she didn't want to waste any time. She dropped back and threw a large barrage of Ki blasts back towards her father.

Gohan had the simple task of swatting all of them away, but was surprised, after knocking the last one away, to see that Pan was already flying right towards him. She adjusted her position, landing a kick square in the older Saiyan's face.

He was knocked back a little but managed to turn in time to see the next oncoming attempt. It was Gohan's turn to phase away and avoid the attempted punch from his daughter, and then he attacked Pan from the side, kicking her back down to the stage. It wasn't a terribly hard kick, but there was enough pace for Pan to shoot right down to the stage. She did manage to position herself easily and spring off with her hands and land easily on her feet. The teen swiftly glanced back up into the air hoping to see that her father was still floating there, waiting, but he had moved somewhere else and Pan was struggling to sense him.

She began looking around her, frantically, expecting he would appear, and she would be ready for it, but she was dealt a great shock when she felt his power appear behind her. As she quickly attempted to turn around and face the man she was struck right away and was knocked back towards the edge of the stage, but she managed to float above the ground, avoiding the ring out.

This annoyed Pan as she started to realise what her father was attempting with that move and she flared back at him. She moved forward and set down on the stage again.

"You're not treating me like a real opponent, you're just trying to get a ring out," Pan accused him. Gohan scoffed.

"I'm just warming you up. I'll know when you're ready for me to take it up a notch," Gohan replied, sounding genuine and teacher-like, but that wasn't what Pan wanted to hear.

She scowled at him and then powered up, significantly, trying to prove just how strong she really was. The young Saiyan darted towards Gohan and attempted a strong barrage of punches, but Gohan managed to block all of them without breaking a sweat. Pan was getting very frustrated, but she knew that he was always going to be a tough opponent to break down.

Pan quickly leapt back and then sprung forward again, that time going for a kick up into his face, but Gohan caught her leg and spun the girl through the air, before letting go and watching her sail towards the wall. Pan made sure that she avoided hitting the wall, knowing it would count towards a ring out and she powered up, flying back towards her father.

She blazed towards him, but all Gohan did was simply jump over and push her down a tiny bit, forcing the girl off course. It worked, and Pan hit into the stage and slid right across towards the edge again. She did manage to slow herself down, coming to a complete halt, and she returned to her feet.

Pan was really beginning to wonder if she was ever going to beat her father, or even force him to put some real effort in. Even though she couldn't really affect him either way, it seemed, she still wanted to be taken seriously. She began powering up some more, hoping that it could help to improve her speed and maybe she could force through Gohan's strong defensive display. She needed to get her father to stop blocking all of her moves.

"Start fighting me properly!" Pan exclaimed. Gohan sighed.

"Fine. I'll take it up a notch, but you're gonna wish I didn't," Gohan replied.

He raised his power slightly. Noca caught the change in Gohan's power and took it as a message from Gohan saying that there was no chance Pan would be progressing through their fight. Noca looked towards Pan and apologised, silently.

Back on the stage, Pan charged for her father again and started throwing another barrage of punches, but instead of blocking them, this time Gohan was avoiding them all, easily. He was moving at a tremendous speed and Pan was growing increasingly frustrated as she tried with all her might to land a hit.

She was beginning to tire and started to regret asking her father to power up, but it meant she could gauge just how much she had increased her power, even if she wouldn't get a chance to express it further in this very tournament. She had to jump back and attempted to increase her power more. She tensed up and drew in as much as she could. Her aura grew and her hair was waving in a small gust of wind that swept around her.

Gohan watched on, noticing that Pan was pouring her energy towards her hands, and then she started to crouch back a little bit, moving her hands by her side, together.

"Kame," She started. The blue energy was beginning to form in her hands, just a little at first. "Hame," She continued, the ball grew bigger. Pan was putting a lot of power into the attack, and Gohan could sense that, but not just that, he could see that Pan had managed to perfect the Kamehameha technique all by herself.

"HA!" She exclaimed, sending the energy towards Gohan at a tremendous pace. It wasn't the most powerful Kamehameha Gohan had seen or come up against, but for Pan, it was a lot.

Gohan watched the attack sail towards him and at the last moment he stuck his hands forward and blocked the attack, while absorbing the energy from it, slowing it down and making it weaker and easier to deal with. He was taking the energy down by his side and forming his own Kamehameha with it.

Pan couldn't see this because she was too focussed on her own attack, but suddenly she felt the direction of that energy significantly change, and she was under more physical pressure. The wave was travelling back towards her.

She wasn't allowed the time to adjust or even think of what her next plan of action should be, the wave just crashed against her and carried her off of the stage, knocking her onto the grass. She crashed down with a thud and rolled right up to the wall.

"And in a shorter fight than the last one Pan has been defeated by her own father. Gohan advances to the next round!" The announcer called out.

Pan slowly moved around and faced her father on the stage. She slowly started to lift herself from the grass and realised that she wasn't feeling any big pain. She came to the assumption that the attack her father used was only to get her off of the stage. Pan was disappointed, not only in her herself, but also by the fact that she wasn't going to have the chance to face off against Noca in a real competitive situation.

Her father stepped down off the stage and walked over to his daughter. He explained to her exactly what she already knew that the fight was always weighted against her, and when Gohan started to use more of his true power it meant that Pan was going to struggle. She accepted it and returned to the waiting area, immediately going to Noca.

He offered her the comfort and support she had come to expect from him.

"In 5 minutes, we will be ready to get the next competitors out here!" The announcer informed the crowd.

Goku looked over to his student, Uub, and then to the pink fighter that he would be going up against. Buu. Mr Buu. Majin Buu. Whatever you wanted to call him. It was an odd situation to see those two going up against each other, and it would be a true test for Uub.

Somewhere in the city, Wun was wandering down the streets, casually, without a care in the world, vacant expression on his face, but he knew where he was going. He turned down a couple of streets, eventually coming to the alley where he had been told to go.

He walked down it, eventually spotting a man, hidden in the shadows. It was hard to see how they were dressed, but it was definitely some sort of formal suit, it did seem like the man had a little bit of a cloak over him as well, covering his face.

"You have done well, so far," The man spoke, clearly, formally. "You are definitely proving that you have great strength. It will be another tough fight for you next, but you know what to do. Beat them."

Wun nodded and turned around, starting to walk back towards the end of the alley, towards the street again.

"I want you to watch his next fight. Maybe you can learn a thing of two," The man continued.

Wun stopped and looked over his shoulder.

"Yes, sir."

He continued back to the stadium, following the orders to watch the next fights. He may have missed the fight between Gohan and Pan, but he would probably catch most of Uub's fight with Buu, and then definitely the fight between Piccolo and Noca.
