JPOV
When I arrived, Bella was in the middle of making food.
"Smells delicious." I said, getting a whiff of the burgers she was grilling up outside. After I said that though, she started to blush. Her face was adorable when she blushed, and that smell that was becoming all too familiar filled my nostrils. Whoops, maybe I shouldn't use those words around her. "The burgers." I elaborated, smiling at my beautiful soul mate. She bit her lip in embarrassment which only made her that much more adorable. I walked over and kissed her cheek, breathing in that intoxicating scent.
"How's Quil?" She asked, a hint of worry in her voice.
"You can ask him yourself." I said, smiling. Leah and Seth stood up from their spot on the porch. Leah was talking to Seth and they both looked toward the treeline.
"How?" Leah asked. "It's only been two hours."
"He took it surprisingly well." I shrugged. It was my only guess to him phasing back so quickly.
Quil walked up and smiled at Bella and the wolf inside me growled. Quil liked Bella, even if just only a little, and it made that part of me very angry but I also knew Bella cared for Quil, as a friend and there was no way I was going to try and stop that either so I told that part to shut up.
"Hey, Bella." He said. She walked over and hugged him, and this time I growled along with my wolf. Both of them looked my way, Quil looked scared and Bella looked amused.
"Relax Jake." Bella had no idea just how difficult that was when it came to an Imprint. It wasn't a choice I was making.
"Easier said than done, Honey. How about I just try and focus on the food?" I didn't know if it would work but worth a try.
I went inside to grab plates for everyone and came back out to set them down. Seth, Leah and Quil were all inside now, sitting at the table catching up. I ran a hand through my short hair, wishing for my long hair back and when I looked over at Bella, she was staring at me, or more specifically, my arm flexing as I touched the hair on top of my head. She seemed to be lost in thought and hadn't even noticed me looking at her yet. I tilted my head at her, smiling at her expression.
"Bells?" I wanted to know what was going on in that amazing head of hers but I got no response. She sure was lost in her own world. "Bel-la…" I called in a sing songy voice. She appeared to have snapped out of it and looked into my eyes.
"Hmm?" She had no idea what was going on.
"What's it like where you are?" I quoted one of her favorite shows, something we both watched as children which I guess should have let me in on her previous extra-curricular activities. Falling for a vampire was bound to happen when you grow up watching things like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
"Sorry. I was just…" now it was her turn to run fingers through her hair, though hers seemed more out of embarrassment than anything. God damnit she was sexy. Her hair fell over one shoulder and perfectly framed her face. "You're quite distracting Jake."
"But I didn't do anything."
"Just watching as those muscular arms flex as you move them, made me think of this morning." She looked down. I couldn't get enough of Bella when she acted shy.
"Oh, which part?" I asked but I think I knew. My hand went to the side of her neck but this time I didn't kiss her, I just watched her. Her chest moved up and down with her heavy breaths and she bit her lip to stop it from quivering. I moved my thumb to her lip and gently ushered her bottom lip out from between her teeth. Her breath on my thumb sent shivers down my spine. "You're so fucking beautiful."
My hand traced her jawline again and I leaned down to kiss her, gently this time. When I pulled away, Bella tried to hold onto me but her small hands were easy to remove from my arms. "Later." I said with a wink. I could hear her heartbeat speed up and smell the need she had for me. Being a werewolf made keeping my hands off her very difficult. I knew if I was still regular Jake that I'd be able to take things slow with her but every little thing pulls me closer. Her scent, the tiny details I never would have noticed before like her breathing and her heartbeat. Her need fueling my own with the imprint bond, how could I say no when she craves for me to say yes and I can feel that in my soul? Everything in me wanted Bella, even before but at least before I could tone it down some. This was all so new and I had no idea what the Hell I was doing.
"Bella, to be honest," now or never Jake, "I keep trying to figure out how I'll compare to a hundred year old vampire that probably has a boatload of experience. I've never… I mean I never even kissed anyone else before." The look on Bella's face was one of confusion. "From the moment I kissed you on a dare when I was nine, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you. I mean I think our souls knew long before the imprint. Look at Sam and Leah, and Kim always had a thing for Jared. You've always been it for me and well, because of that I never got any… experience."
"Wait, you're worried about if Edward kisses better than you?"
"No, not kissing. I… shit. Eventually, when we go further, you might, I dunno, compare us?"
"There's nothing to compare."
"Yeah, Imprint bond and everything but still, you might."
"No, Jake there's literally nothing to compare. I can probably count on one hand how many times Edward kissed me on my lips. Those kisses were nothing compared to the way you kiss me and everything else? Jake we never did anything else. I'm a virgin. Edward was my only boyfriend before you and the relationship was extremely lacking in the intimacy department."
I let out a sigh. "Well, that's a relief. So wait, are you even ready for that kind of relationship then? We haven't really talked about it."
Bella thought for a moment before responding. "Honestly? I seem to be spending a lot of time trying to convince myself that I'm not ready yet, when everything in me is telling me that I am."
Did I just hear her right? We've been officially together for a week and a half though we'd been unofficial for months based on when she came by with the bikes. That seemed soon but I guess we did have the whole soul mate thing going for us. I smiled at her and brushed some hair behind her ear so I could see her face better. I was surprised she didn't seem embarrassed by her confession. "We'll take it one day at a time and see where we lead." Bella nodded, smiling. The burgers were done so we decided we'd head inside. The day was windy and Bella was getting cold.
Eventually everyone had stopped by at some point. Either for food or to chat. As the day wound down, Billy and Charlie arrived back with fish. They tossed it in the freezer my dad used for when Charlie brought him back fish and called it a day. Charlie was getting tired and after we explained that the Cullens were good guys again he headed home to rest before he started an early shift in the morning.
Bella and I snuggled on the couch, watching a movie while Billy headed to bed. Near the end of the movie I noticed that Bella's breathing had slowed. I looked down and she was asleep. Her mouth was open ever so slightly and she looked adorably goofy. I picked her up gently and brought her to my bed. When I set her down, she woke, sort of.
"Hey, you fell asleep. What can I get you to wear that's more comfortable? Want one of my shirts?"
"Mhmm." She mumbled, completely out of it.
I handed her the shirt and turned around to look out the window. After a minute she hadn't said anything so I called her name quietly, my dad didn't know she was in here with me so I couldn't be too loud. She didn't respond. I decided to turn back around and found her asleep, half undressed. Her shirt was off. She was wearing a sexy red bra with crisscrosses on the front, matching panties and her pants were halfway down her thighs.
"Shit, Bells." I whispered, shaking my head and smiling. I walked over to her and took her pants off her legs the rest of the way, causing her to stir awake for a moment. I gently sat her up, her eyes fluttering open and rested her against me to slip the shirt over her head. I laid her back down, this time on the pillow and thought for a moment before talking quietly. "You're really hurting me here, honey." I reached up the shirt and struggled to unclasp the sexy yet uncomfortable looking bra from Bella's back, hovering slightly above her, using one arm for support.
She mumbled my name sleepily and met my gaze, "Love you… my Qahla." She whispered before her eyes closed again. Eventually I got it, and slipped the straps off through the sleeves of the oversized tee and pulled the bra off of her. I kissed her cheek then turned off the light and hopped in beside her. Sleep did not come easy.
