On our way to the treaty line the next morning, I had Alice and Jasper stop by Charlie's to see if anyone had been around. They didn't see or smell any signs of another vampire, or any of the wolves nearby, which they were grateful for since finding another scent would be difficult through the overpowering smell of the wolf. I went inside when I got the all clear, had a shower and changed clothes so Jake wouldn't have to smell vampire on me all day then grabbed everything for the party and drove down to the treaty line for the usual trade off. This time Jake was in his wolf form running beside the car as Alice and Jasper took off along their side of the treaty line. It was only 7:45 AM and another wolf wouldn't take over for another 15 minutes, but I knew Jake was dying to come to me.

I arrived at his house and Jake stayed back in the treeline, continuing his patrol while I found both of our dads about to hop in the cruiser to likely go fishing as they usually did every weekend. I waved and started making things for the party. I wouldn't put together the top section of the cake, the part that wasn't cardboard until it was time. Each section was individually frosted, and all I had left to do was put them together and add a few details. Then up on top they will go. I was grateful that my dad would be out fishing all day because if he saw what we had planned, I imagine despite nothing being illegal, I'd get arrested, or grounded for the rest of my life at the very least.

I was lost in thought when Jake came in 15 minutes later and jumped at his touch. I nearly dropped the spatula I was using to make breakfast. I turned around and the smile on his face was the kind that could melt the North Pole.

"I missed you so much." He mumbled into my hair, picking me up and resting me on the counter and settling himself between my legs, a position I was starting to become far too comfortable with. He held on tightly to me, planting small kisses along my neck and shoulder. "so much."

"Jeez, Jake, I missed you too. This has been the longest week of my life. Um, have you talked to my dad?"

"No, I didn't even know he was here yet."

"He came down last night." How did Jake not know my dad had been here since the night before?

"Oh, I was hanging out with Leah and Seth, I never came home before my shift."

"Alright." I decided not to tell him about the vision and everything we realised until after the party. Why ruin the day when we weren't in any immediate danger? "Hungry?"

"Starved." He replied, helping me down and taking a seat at the table. "And tired. Might need a nap before the party."

"Well. Eat something first, then feel free to nap. I have food to make for the party anyways. Then I need to bring everything over to Sam's and assemble the cake. It's going to be a busy day." I said, putting some food on a plate for Jake and placing it in front of him before making myself a plate as well.

"Ait," Jake said, food filling his mouth so I couldn't understand him. "Ou in't et im a shipper cake, id out?"

"Um, what?"

Jake swallowed his food then tried again. "You didn't actually get him a stripper cake, did you?"

"The cake yes, a stripper, not exactly. Jess has decided to help me out by popping out while wearing something a tad less revealing than a swim suit."

"She actually agreed to that?"

"Yup, she's working through things. Mike never worked out so I think she's finally ready to give him up and wants to impress some boys."

"Well. I can't wait to see what happens." Jake yawned. Someday we will never have to worry about vampires again and it will be a day to celebrate.

"So I kind of was hoping to have your and Sam's help, being the two tallest in the group, to help like lift her in and out of the cake? The bottom part is just cardboard that looks like cake so you won't get messy or anything."

"Sure… Sure…" Jake said, standing up and walking off to his bed. "Leave my plate. I'll… get it." I could hear the springs in his bed squeak and Jake started to snore lightly. I washed the dishes and finished preparing everything I'd need then loaded it up on the truck and drove down to Sam's.

"Hey!" I announced my presence to Leah and Embry sitting outside, despite my truck being much louder than my voice, I knew they could hear me. I turned off the engine and hopped out. It only took a moment but Leah and Embry were both next to me helping me with everything I brought.

"Wow, I'm feeling starved just looking at all this food. When can we eat it?" Embry asked, and Leah swatted at his arm.

"It's for the party. Be patient." Leah spoke softly, she was such a kind girl when you got to know her, and after things with Sam got figured out, all of her unhappiness and hate just blew away in the wind. She was definitely becoming one of my favorite people and a really good friend.

"Where's Jake? Does he know you came here without a bodyguard?" Embry asked.

"No. It's fine. I'm fine. No reason to disturb him. He's sleeping."

We spent the next 2 hours setting up for the party while Quil, Jared and Kim distracted Paul who, as far as I knew, still had no idea what we were planning.

While we were setting up, my phone started to ring. I looked down and couldn't help but laugh. Someone had changed Jake's name in my phone to Jacob Jingle Heimer Schmidt and of course the song got stuck in my head.

"Jake, did you do this?" I asked, instead of saying 'Hello?' when I answered the phone.

"Uh, do what?" I could hear the humor in his voice though as he pretended to not know what I was talking about. I mean why would he even call me instead of just showing up anyways if not to let me see what he did?

"Your name in my phone was changed."

"Oh yeah? What's it say, like, Sexiest Man Alive?"

"Don't play dumb."

"Hey, you calling me dumb?" he replied but I heard his voice through the opposite ear than my phone. I turned around and Jake was smiling at me. "Hey, Honey."

I shook my head but went to him, his arms wrapped around me, taking the slight chill from the morning away.

"Okay, so we have much to do and very little time to do it in. Want to help?" He nodded and started getting things organized for me. By early afternoon we were joined by Seth and Sam as Embry took over patrol. I asked Sam to help out with Jessica and the cake and he agreed. Everything was going according to plan and by 5:30, everyone was at Sam's except Paul and Quil. Jessica, who still needed to change, hid with the bottom half of the cake in Sam's garage, the only thing big enough for something so extravagantly huge to come out of. I had it on a pallet with wheels attached, a fairly simple task but I still ended up hurting myself a few times with the screws.

My phone rang again and this time it said Quil.

"Hello?" Play the part, Bella. Paul can probably hear you too.

"Hey, Bella. Just wondering where the best food in town is tonight. Me and Paul just walked by Jake's but looks like no one's home."

"Oh, sorry. I know we keep switching it up. Sam wanted to grill up some burgers so I brought some sides and we're all over here." Please buy it, Paul. His birthday wasn't until Monday so I was hoping he didn't suspect anything until next weekend.

"Awesome. Make sure there's enough for us. We're on the way." He hung up the phone, keeping it extremely casual and I put mine back in my pocket. Everyone looking at me. Lauren did end up showing up so having her, Jessica and Angela around, everyone except Paul knew to keep calm.

"Show time." I called out, "They just passed Jake's, they'll be like five minutes."

We got everyone into place while Jessica changed. She tapped on the people door to the garage to let Sam and Jake know she was ready to be lifted in and I brought the rest of the cake out from the house, and placed it on top while thanking her profusely.

We went back outside and waited for the birthday boy to show up, chatting like we would any other day while Jake leaned up against the corner of the house to let us know when.

Jake held up the hand that wasn't visible to Paul and Quil who were coming around to the back of the house. He dropped his thumb down, then his pinky, then ring, middle and index, counting down to their appearance.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled together, shocking Paul who burst into laughter.

"Happy birthday, man." Quil said beside him as everyone greeted him.
