Alice POV

Based on my vision, we should get there just in time. I've been trying harder than ever to see what will happen when we fight the newborn army. Now that I knew to look for this Riley Biers guy, I've been able to see more each day.

"Help!" A girl screamed, but nobody was coming. This part of Seattle, dressed as she was, no one was going to risk their lives to help a girl who looked homeless.

We ran to her, pulling the vampire, Riley Biers, off of her. He took off instantly knowing he was outnumbered.

"Are you alright?" I asked the girl. I started to smell blood and looked down to find a crescent bite mark near her shoulder as she dropped to her knees in pain. My vision changed and I saw her. In our home, beautiful and smiling, but as a human.

"My body… it feels… oh God. It hurts. Please."

"You can't let her change, Edward." I said, hoping he paid attention to my thoughts.

"Try to hold still, there's a venom inside you. I need to get rid of it." Edward spoke, calmly. He once again did the impossible, though this time it seemed easier to step away from than when it was Bella. "It's all gone. Are you okay? Do you need help getting home?"

"I have… no home." She mumbled, then tried to stand but the lack of blood made her sway. Edward held her up. "My dad…"

Edwards face scrunched as he paid attention to whatever memory or thought was going on through the girls head. "What's your name?"

"Bree. Bree Tanner."

"Come on Bree, we'll get you cleaned up and fed." She passed out as I finished talking and Edward carried her.

When we got back to the house, Carlisle and Esme were surprised, and Jasper had to leave to go hunt while Rose and Emmett were already out hunting.

"She was Riley's next target. Edward sucked the venom out but she lost a lot of blood. I had a vision of her here, as a human, so here we are." I had a good feeling about the girl, and the last time I had a good feeling about someone, it was Jasper.

/Later/

It had been 7 hours since we brought Bree home. The sun just started to come up over the horizon and Bree was starting to wake up.

"What… Where am I? What happened?" Bree asked, rubbing her temple like she had a headache.

Carlisle approached her, and I could feel calming waves coming from Jasper who was back but keeping his distance.

"I'm Doctor Carlisle Cullen. What do you remember, Miss Tanner?" Carlisle gestured toward her bandage and she nodded. He started to undress the wound where Riley had bit her and when he looked underneath, his eyes widened. Only long enough for a vampire or maybe one of the wolves to notice. He then replaced the bandage and taped it up. Edward started pacing on the other side of the room.

"I remember a guy attacking me. He had red eyes and he… did he bite me? He said he was going to make me a vampire. That my life would be better that way. I felt… it felt like I was burning." She reached up to her shoulder and put her hand over her bandage. "There's no pain there…. Where he bit me. Am I on morphine?"

"No, I wanted you to wake up to assess things first. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but considering your living arrangements, I needed to make sure it didn't interact with anything you may have taken." Carlisle explained, and I felt for the girl. She didn't APPEAR to be an addict, but many didn't look the part.

"No, I don't take anything, not even cigarettes or alcohol, or weed. Definitely nothing WORSE. I just, I live on the streets because my dad, he wasn't a good person. Better the streets than under his roof. So if I'm not on morphine, why is there no pain?"

"You, well it appears as though your wound has healed… completely."

"What?" Bree and I both asked at the same time.

"How is that possible?" Bree asked.

"We don't know. We will look into it though." Carlisle removed the bandage, showing us the truth to his words, there was no wound.

"Come." I offered my hand to her. "I believe you'll feel better when you've showered and had something to eat."

Bree took my hand, but flinched when she felt how cold I am, and I lead her to my room where she showered and I got her dressed in some clean clothes, her size was very close to my own so it was easy to find things that fit her small frame.

"How old are you, Bree?"

"I just turned 16 last month." The shy girl said, fidgeting with the clothes she was wearing. "This is a really pretty shirt."

"Thank you. You can keep it, I have more where that came from. Let's get you fed."

When we arrived back downstairs, Esme had cooked up many options for our guest. Bree's face lit up at the sight. I placed a hand on her shoulder to encourage her forward and stumbled backwards a little as a vision hit me. I could feel Jasper reach me to steady my body.

There was Bree, but she was maybe 3 or 4 years old hiding in a corner of her room crying, a lady that looked similar to the Bree that stood before me now closed that little girls room as a tall man came up behind her and tossed her into a wall.

"Please. Just don't hurt Bree. Don't hurt our baby." The woman begged, I felt like I could puke, if only the option were available to me. Seeing the past was a rarity and had only happened twice before, and both times were extremely important.

The next few scenes of my vision were too graphic and left me feeling numb, or maybe that was Jasper, feeling my distress and trying to take it away. In the end, the poor woman, Bree's mother was murdered and buried and Bree taken away by her abusive father.

When I came out of my vision, there were impossible tears at my eyes, tears that shouldn't exist because of what I was. I didn't know how I managed to cry, or if it would ever happen again, but I never wanted to witness something so horrible ever again.

Edward was staring at me, his face contorted in disgust at what we both saw.

Carlisle had lead Bree over to the kitchen table to eat and she was looking over at me. "What happened to her?" she asked, quietly.

There was something about the girl, something that made me realise she wasn't going anywhere, that this is where she belonged, so I explained. "We're GOOD vampires, Bree. The man who attacked you was a bad vampire but we don't drink human blood, only animal."

"Alice…" I heard Carlisle warn, too quiet for Bree to hear, but he didn't say anything else.

"Some vampires have special abilities, my ability is prophetic in nature but very rarely, like right now, I see a glimpse of the past. In this case, your past. I saw your mother, Bree, and why she is no longer in your life."

"She left." Brew said, sadly, and I could tell from her face that she was very hurt. She probably thought her mother left her with an abusive father instead of taking her away from it all. Poor girl.

"No, Bree. She didn't leave. This will be difficult to hear but I feel it must be known. Your father murdered your mother."

Bree gasped, "No! How… but…" Edward went to her, his face giving away more emotions than even I could comprehend. There was a wave of peace that floated through the air and I looked to Jasper and smiled. He always made life easier.

"Bree. I want to offer our help. I can provide an anonymous tip to the police that helps them locate your mother's body. We can pay to have a proper burial and your father will be locked away for a very long time."

"I wouldn't even be able to attend. If DHS sees me, they'll take me and place me in a foster home. I've heard horror stories. I know there are good people out there but what are the chances?"

"We can help with that too. We have connections and can take over legal guardianship of you, until you turn 18. You can finish school here in Forks and then can go wherever you want, we can take care of you." Carlisle trusted me but I knew he was very confused by my actions and words. But I knew what I was doing was right.

"Why would you do that for me? I'm just some girl."

"I feel as though you are a very important girl, and I ALYWAYS follow my gut."

"This is all too surreal. I mean vampires, good and bad. I don't… thank you, God. Thank you for saving me. And your uh… partner?"

"Brother. Edward is my brother, not by blood but we're all family here. You're about to meet Rosalie and Emmett who are together. I'm with Jasper, the guy over in the corner there. And to the people of Forks. Jasper and Rosalie are siblings and the rest of us are siblings being taken care of by Esme and Carlisle since we have no one else to. Nobody knows we're vampires. Well mostly nobody. This…" I said, turning around as Emmett and Rosalie walked into the house, "is Emmett, and Rosalie."

"Hi." Bree said, quietly.

"Aww, come on now Alice. You've got to stop bringing in the strays." Rosalie said, once again in disapproval of a human being in our home.

"We saved her from Riley. She's homeless so we're going to help her out."

"Fine, whatever." Rosalie sped up the stairs with Emmett in tow, he stopped halfway up, waved and kept going.

"Let's get started with that anonymous tip, and having legal documents made to say you are staying with us. That way when they find your mom, they know where to find you."

"Thank you so much."
