Paul POV

When I arrived at Angela's the weekend after our date at the fair, something was wrong. She stormed out of the house in a very not Angela like manor and took off toward the trail behind her house. Her body was shaking in anger and I had to jog to catch up with her.

"Ange, what's wrong?" I caught her arm as she started to walk faster.

"They lied to me. My whole life is a lie."

"What are you talking about? Who lied?" I pulled her into a hug but she pushed me away. I let her. It was hard to keep my distance but I'd give her the world if that's what she wanted.

"My parents. I've been made fun of long enough over my freakish height. I never could understand it because neither of my parents are tall. And they just… I'm adopted. Which isn't the worst thing in the world but why wouldn't they tell me? Why keep it from me my whole life? I'm just so angry with them." Angela was pacing back and forth and looked about ready to rip her hair out.

"I don't know how to respond to this in a way that helps you and I really want to help you."

"You know why it upsets me so much?" She asked, ignoring my comment. "They weren't ever going to tell me, but when they heard we were dating they said I had to know because we… oh god… they said just in case we were related."

"Woah. What? Me and you?" What the fuck was she talking about? How would we be related?

"Yeah, apparently my birth mother is Quileute and my birth father is just some nobody deadbeat from Boston." She stopped pacing now but was still visibly shaking from anger.

"You're… Did they give you a name? What would that even mean? I think I might throw up."

"Oh, God I'm so sorry, Paul. This is so horrible. They said her name is Emmie. That's all, no last name." Oh thank fuck!

"I know pretty much everyone from La Push, there's only one Emmie. She moved away a while ago but visits every Christmas. She's Jake's aunt, so we are most definitely, not related."

"Oh thank God! This has been a complete nightmare."

"Angela?" I heard her mom call from their yard.

"Leave me alone, Mom!" Angela screamed back, then walked further down the trail into the woods until she collapsed on the ground in tears.

I sat down with her and wrapped my arms around her, holding her tightly to my chest. Her sob's came out in in full force. Eventually she pushed me away again, then stood and walked into the woods some more. Seeing Angela like this was difficult. I had no idea how to comfort anyone. She started getting angry again and the sweet Angela I knew was gone.

She leaned against a tree and hit it a few times, tears streaming down her face. Her body shook from her sobs but it also seemed to…. No. Oh no. No no no no no.

"Ange, I need you to call down. Can you…"

"Don't. Tell. Me. To. CALM. DOWN!" She practically growled at me.

"Shit!"

Angela's body exploded into a ball of fur, claws and sharp teeth. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Jake's number.

"Helloooo?" Bella answered. "Jake's a bit.. Stop it. Busy right n-Jake!"

"Bella put Jake on, now." I heard a quick exchange of hands and Jake was on the line.

"Paul, what is it?" Jake asked, full Alpha mode, ready to run at a moment's notice.

"We have a bit of a problem." I said, staring at a scared looking Ange-wolf in front of me, her eyes locked onto mine as I gently encouraged her further into the trees in case someone came down the trail.

"A bit? Please tell me you interrupted us for a bit more than a bit."

"Long story short. Angela found out she's adopted. Real mom's name is Emmie, and Quileute…"

"She's my cousin?" Jake asked, not understanding the seriousness.

"She was angry at her parents for not telling her and uh, she just phased Jake. Full wolf. I don't know what to do. I… if I phase she'll freak, right? But she can't communicate with me this way. What do I do?"

I knew I was freaking out but if your girlfriend turning into a giant wolf didn't freak you out, I don't know what would. We always thought everything was passed through the men and every time someone new phases we're proven just how wrong our assumptions have been. How many more wolves will the tribe have at this rate? We've never had this many vampires so close to the area before.

"Ok, I-I agree, do not phase. Just try to get her to a secluded area, I'm coming right now."

"Thanks man, we're near the trail behind her place." I hung up the phone and the Ange-wolf tilted her head at me, while whimpering. "It's okay, baby. Everything will be okay. I need… I need you to follow me, ok? Can you follow me?"

I backed up further into the woods, keeping an eye on her as she stumbled on 4 legs through the downed trees and shrubs.

"That's right. Just a little further into the trees so we can keep you from being seen." When I got her far enough into the woods, I sat on a log and waited, she slumped to the ground and whined. "I wish I could help you. I just need you to listen for a minute, okay? Our tribe, a long time ago, were invaded by uh bad guys. The chief, Taha Aki, joined his spirit with a wolf to protect the tribe. His children and their children and so on carried the wolf gene. The one you have in you from being related to Jake. The one I have in me as well. I don't want you to be scared and I know you probably have a few voices in your head right now, which is how we communicate while in that form. But Jake's coming, he'll help you, but just know he's coming as a wolf. I don't know if he's talking to you yet but he'll be here soon."

When Jake arrived, he motioned for me to leave, so I did. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I went to Bella, I had no idea if he told her what happened, but she needed to know.

"Paul!" Bella yelled, watching the forest where I came out. "What is going on?"

"What did Jake tell you?" I asked, jogging closer to her. When I reached her she pulled me into a hug.

"He told me Angela found out she's adopted and is actually Quileute and… phased? Tell me what happened?"

"She was angry, rightfully, about her parents lying to her and I didn't think anything of it, not even when she said that she was actually Quileute. Then things just kind of… happened. Fuck! I wish I stayed but he wanted me to leave. Why wouldn't he want me there?"

"He's told me before that he keeps Leah and Sam from phasing together to keep that one bit of themselves private. That's why he Alpha orders you guys to not think about certain things. Maybe he just wanted her to know she still has some privacy." Bella was so smart, I always said it, aside from when she dated a vampire that is.

"That makes a lot of sense. I just wish I could help her through this. Oh fuck, her parents. What is she supposed to do, sneak out every night? They're going to know something is up."

"I'll deal with them, Paul. Just try to relax. Come, I made snacks."

Jake had been gone for at least 3 hours and I was starting to get worried, but right as I was about to go hunting for them myself, Jake walked in the door to his house.

"Hey." Jake said, like nothing even happened.

"How is she?" Paul asked from the couch, the TV remote in his hand. He never settled on anything, and just flicked through channels to pass the time.

"She's… coping. Leah's with her right now. Figured it might be nice to have another girl in her thoughts instead of one of us. Quil and Embry were ordered to only talk of absolutely necessary, which I know they're hating right now." Jake explained, then sat down at the table with his head in his hands.

"Are you okay?" I asked, rubbing his muscular shoulders.

"Just hating all of this. When will it end? How many lives is it going to affect?"

"My guess is, once the newborn army is gone, things will settle down. This extreme rise in vampire activity is making the Quileute wolves pop out of every nook and cranny but when they're all gone? There won't be a need to create more wolves." I hoped my theory was right.

"Come here." Jake pulled me into his lap and nuzzled his face into my neck making me giggle.

"And that's my cue to leave. I'm going to see what Sam's up to." Paul said, then left the house.

"I missed you." Jake whispered, placing small kisses along my collarbone.

"Jake..."

"Shit. Our dads are here." Jake said. Gently sliding me off of him and letting go when my feet hit the floor.

"Ok. Lunch?" I asked, a little disappointed.

"Yeah. Sounds good. Feels like it should be dinner time already after everything I've done today. I need to go talk to my dad. We should contact my aunt Emmie, at the very least Angela should know the name of her biological father in case she'd like to contact him."

I nodded my head. Jake got up and walked outside to talk to his dad in private while Charlie came in with the smell of the ocean and fish.

"Hi Dad. Good day on the boat?"

"Oh it was a very good day indeed. We captured a rarity for us, managed to snag a swordfish. Huge thing. I heard their meat is like eating a steak." Charlie talked like he was some announcer on a fishing channel.

"Well. I guess we're having swordfish for dinner." Charlie clapped me on the back and grabbed a beer from the fridge. "I was going to help Jake in the garage with the Rabbit. Do you think you and Billy will survive in here without me for a bit? I already made some lunch."

"We have beer, whatever you made and a game that starts in ten minutes. I think we'll manage." Charlie laughed. "Relax Bells, it's a weekend. Take a break for once."

"Right. Exactly what I planned to do, helping Jake, with the rabbit. He needs the break too."

I walked outside to find Jake talking to Billy who seemed equally surprised as we did.

"Emmie never told anyone. Not that I know of. I'll call her later, she should be working right now. What will you kids be up to today?"

"Working on the Rabbit." I blurted before Jake could say anything. "I bought Jake some parts as a 'Sorry I missed your birthday because I was a zombie.' And Jake was going to show me how it's done."

"Well alright then. Have fun." Billy said and wheeled himself into the house, closing the door behind him.

"I didn't realise you'd be helping me." Jake said, confused about what I told his dad.

"I won't be. Just wanted to get away faster." I admitted, grabbing Jake's hand and pulling him toward the garage.

When we were inside, with nobody else to see, I stood on my tippy toes and pulled Jake's head down so I could reach his lips with my own. Our lips molded together and his tongue darted into my mouth, tasting me, caressing me in a way only Jake knew how.

"Fuck, Bells. I've been dreaming about taking you in this garage since the moment you came back into my life."

Jake lifted me up to straddle his waist and walked over to the hood of the rabbit, laying me down on top of it. He pulled away just long enough to pull my pants off then dropped his own and was back in my arms.

The cold was car against my back. The cold air in the garage contrasting Jake's heat at my front was intoxicating. My body was hyper aware of every heated touch Jake made on my cool skin. Every kiss and lick he gave my skin, randomly placed all over. His teeth nipped down my body. He paused for a moment at the skin above my hip bone, then ran his nose along my inner thigh.

My whole body reacted to his, my hips arched into him. Jake placed one of his large hands between my belly button and where the line of pubic hair began, pressing me back to the car as my body tried to arch into him once more.

Jake shook his head no, then winked at me, holding me to the car as he trailed just below where his hand held me down.

The pleasure I felt next was unimaginable. My whole body was on fire as I screamed Jake's name. He didn't let me come down from my high before slipping inside me, filling me. I moaned uncontrollably with every thrust until Jake and I were both beyond exhausted. We fell into a heap on the floor, tangled in each other, and I drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up, a blanket was over me. Jake was working on the Rabbit and I had been moved to a nearby pile of tires, which was probably only slightly more comfortable than the floor, but it was probably more about getting me out of the way while he worked. My pants were folded neatly under my head.

I stayed in my position for an unknown amount of time, but eventually my dad came looking for us. I quickly hid my pants in one of the tires.

"Hey. What's with the blanket?" he asked, always suspicious.

"She was so bored that she fell asleep." Good lie Jake, very believable. Jake was a very fast thinker, though he'd never admit it to himself. "The garage isn't heated and she started to get a bit icy so I had to cover her up. Luckily I had an old blanket on the floor of the rabbit, for all those times I fell asleep working. Was a bitch to dig out of there though, car's much too tiny for me now."

"Watch that tongue, Jake." Charlie said.

"What?" Jake asked, confused. Then his eyes went wide. "Oh, the swearing. I didn't even realise I did. Sorry Chief. I'll try not to let it happen again."

Charlie nodded his head then waved to me, walking out the door. "Oh, I chopped up that swordfish into nice thick steaks. Don't stay put here too long, my excitement might kill me." And with that, he was gone and we were alone once again.
