Do not assume everything is the same in this wizarding world as J.K. Rowling's. This is an AU in a sense. As part of the AU, I have completely redone spell categorization. This means there will be some changes to spells, like the Severing Charm is now the Severing Curse. Here's the criteria.

Charms:

Continuously draws on the caster's magic and ends immediately when the caster decides to end it.

Gives unnatural and nonphysical properties to the target.

Enchantments:

Charms that draw on ambient magic to remain in effect.

A ritual is required to cast an enchantment.

Transfiguration:

Changes the physical appearance of something for a limited time

It cannot change something's state of matter. Such as, it cannot change a liquid to a solid or a gas or vice versa.

Hexes:

Painful and lasting effect.

Does not tear skin or flesh.

Effect ends when the magic of the spell is used up.

Curses:

-Instantaneous

-Harms or damages the target on impact

Wards:

Prevents an action or sense, blocks an action or sense, or protects from an action or sense.

Area of effect

Needs a ward stone (rune stone) to be permanent.

Some can harm the person who does a specific action. (Like an anti-spacial movement ward can harm or even kill someone who tries to apparate inside the ward).

Jinxes:

Instantaneous effect on contact.

Can have a long lasting effect.

The spell itself does not harm or damage the target.

Other:

Repairing spells

Healing spells

Counter spells

*Please note that some of the criteria may change as I discover inconsistencies*

Canon List: Things you should know about the Harry Potter series that are canon. (More will be added at a later date)

1). Astoria Greengrass is TWO years younger than her sister, Daphne Greengrass, who is in Harry's year. Many make the mistake thinking she is only 1 year younger. (Just thought I'd mention this now; the Hogwarts House Astoria was sorted into, has as of yet to be revealed, if it ever will be).

2). Hestia and Flora Carrow are at least FOUR full years YOUNGER than Harry and at most six full years younger. They are either in 1st or 2nd years in The Deathly Hallows. Since Harry is one of the youngest in his year and we don't know the Carrow twins' birthday, is why I am saying he is at least 4 full years older than them. Many people make the mistake that the Carrow twins are 1-2 years older or 1-2 years younger than Harry.

3). Fay Dunbar is NOT canon. She is a made up character from a video game. She will not be in this story.

4). The unknown 40th person in Harry's year is Leanne Runcorn. It's previously only known that there was someone with the last name Runcorn, but their first name was unknown. It later was revealed in the 6th book that a girl named Leanne is Katie Bell's friend from Hufflepuff. It also states that Katie is a year older than her. That makes her Leanne Runcorn because none of the other 39 students in Harry's year are named Leanne.

5). Bellatrix is the OLDEST of Black sisters and Narcissa is the YOUNGEST; thus making Andromeda the middle child. A lot of people have Andromeda as the oldest and Bellatrix as the youngest.

6). Gabrielle Delacour's age is not actually confirmed. The Goblet of Fire only specifies that she looks like an 8 year old, not that she is an 8 year old. It's implied, but not proven. (This may or may not be utilized in this story)

7). 1 galleon is equal to 5 Great British Pounds. (This next part is not confirmed, just something I want you to know) The conversion between GBP and Galleons is fixed, so when the value of GBP goes up or down, so does the value of Galleons respectively.

8). Voldemort is NOT a Tom Marvolo Riddle Jr. His full name is just Tom Marvolo Riddle. He is not a junior because he has a different middle name than his father. In order to be a junior you have to have the same first, middle and last names. Merope Gaunt, Voldemort's mother, got the name Marvolo from her father, Marvolo Gaunt.

9). Dennis Creevey is TWO years younger than his brother Colin, making Dennis a 1st year when Harry is in his 4th year. People quite often have him only 1 year younger than Colin.

10). Harry's mother, Lily Potter, has been confirmed to have a middle name that starts with the letter J, so she is not Lily Evans Potter, she is Lily J. Potter née Evans. As for what the J stands for, it is unknown, but with how J.K.Rowling names her female characters, it is in all likelihood that the J stands for Jasmine or Juniper. (Yes, I know Lily is the name of a flower and she no longer needs a flower in her name, but come on, you know I'm probably right, wink wink)

11). Unlike what most people believe, Hogwarts is FREE! There is no tuition for Hogwarts; J.K.Rowling said so herself. If there was tuition for Hogwarts, the Weasley's would never have been able to attend; they wouldn't have been able to afford it.

12). Romilda Vane is TWO years younger than Harry. She starts Hogwarts in Harry's 3rd year. Many people have her as 1 year younger or 3 years younger than Harry.

13). Disapperation and Apparition. Disapparation is when the wizard disappears and Apparition is when they appear. For a simple example, many people write something like this 'he apparated away from the house', but it should be like this 'he disapparated away from the house'.

14). Zacharias Smith is ONE year older than Harry, he is not in Harry's year.

15). Tracey Davis and Roger Davies are NOT siblings. I mean come on, their last names may be very similar, but they're still different!

16). I don't know how some people don't know this, but some people seem to think that students board the Hogwarts Express on September 1st. That's wrong. They board the train on August 31st. September 1st is the start of the Hogwarts school term, the first day of classes (unless the 1st is a Saturday or Sunday, in which classes will start on Monday instead).

17). Luna cannot naturally see Wackaspurts. The only times she could see Wackaspurts were when she had the Spectre Specs on, which were newly created just before the start of her 4th year. Luna has never actually seen Nargles either, (although she might have seen them sometime between the end of the war and the Epilogue for all we know).

18). Hermione's parents are only known as Mr./Dr. Granger & Mrs./Dr. Granger. Her parents' first names have never been revealed; until they are, I will be using my own names for them. If they are ever revealed while I'm writing this story, I will go back and change their names.

Non-Canon List: Things I feel like you should know for this story that are, obviously, not canon. (More will be added at a later date)

1). Using the Floo. To make a fire call you start a fire and then throw Floo Powder into the fire while calling out the name of the place you want to call. For Floo travel you stand in the unlit fireplace and throw the power at your feat while calling out the name of the place you wish to go. (This is not canon nor fact, just something I want you to know beforehand).

2). Hogwarts classes are shared with another house (Astronomy, Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Muggle Studdies, Care for Magical Creatures and Divination are shared with every house, not just one). I even went ahead and made a complete school schedule for years 1-7 with no conflicting classes.

3). Time Turners do not exist. Time Turners are just a mess to work with and can be abused. (With how I made the schedules, Hermione will not need a Time Turner to take every class. If she wanted to take all 5 elective classes for all 5 years they're available, there would still be no need for a Time Turner).

4). Harry's abuse from the Dursleys is always skimmed over, we don't really know how bad it was. In my story Harry's abuse is worse than it was portrayed in canon.

5). Suggestions.

5a). I will not take pairing suggestions, I know who will be with who. Until the pairings happen, the only one I'll tell you about is Harry/Luna.

5b). I will take plot, idea, and event suggestions if you have any. It doesn't mean I will use it, but I will take them all under Sirius consideration. (Sorry, I had to do it)

6). I do not like romance drama, this type of drama will be kept to a minimum. Whenever I read something that has romance drama, I get this weird tightness in my chest and I really don't like that feeling.

7). Polyjuice Potion needs blood that hasn't been outside of the living body for more than an hour. I just hate how easily abused this can be.

8). Blibbering Humdinger is not a creature. It will often be used to describe people who do not believe in the magical creatures featured in The Quibbler.

[Blibbering] - To talk foolishly or nonsensical

[Humdinger] - A remarkable or outstanding person (or thing) of it's kind.

[Blibbering Humdinger] - A person who stands out and makes a fool of themselves by talking about things they know nothing about.

9.) Magical Maturity. There are 3 stages of Magical Maturity, Juvenile Magical Maturity (JMM), Youth Magical Maturity (YMM) and Adult Magical Maturity (AMM). Magical Maturity is not felt and there is no physical, visual or audible sign that Magical Maturity has taken place. It's only known when they take place because of the research put into figuring out why complex spells were dangerous for younger witches/wizards that they are for older ones.

9a.) Juvenile Magical Maturity takes place on the day a witch/wizard turns 11. After going through JMM they gain the ability to consciously control magic because their magic core has finished constructing itself.

9b.) Youth Magical Maturity and takes place on the day a witch/wizard turns 13. After going through YMM their body becomes more in tune with their magic; their blood can now carry it a lot more efficiently. Plus the connection between their heart and magic core becomes stronger. The stronger connection allows for them to cast more complex spells without the risk of hurting themselves.

9c.) Adult Magical Maturity takes place on the day a witch/wizard turns 17. AMM is when a person's magic core finishes stabilizing. They are no longer restricted in what magic they can learn because it is no longer dangerous. Obviously it can still be dangerous if you don't perform the magic correctly.

9d.) This will not be heavily integrated into the story, it is mainly here just to give a reason as to why some spells are not taught in earlier school years.

9e.) Magical Maturity will not have any influence on sexual desire. In general, magic does not influence sexual desire whatsoever.

Currency and rate of exchange

1 GBP = 1.70 USD (in the 1990s)

1 GBP = 100p ~ 98.6ƙ = 3.4ʂ

5 GBP = 1ʛ

1ʛ = 17ʂ = 493ƙ

1ʂ = 29ƙ ~ 29.41p

1ƙ ~ 1.014p

———

GBP - Great Britain Pound (the symbol doesn't show up for me, so I swapped it to GBP)

USD - United States Dollar (The dollar sign doesn't show up for me, so I swapped it to USD)

p - Pence symbol

ʛ - Galleon symbol

ʂ - Sickle symbol

ƙ - Knut symbol

~ - approximately (the squiggly equal sign doesn't show up for me)

Students in Harry's year. The original 40, the sorting is as canon as possible (there are some students who have never been confirmed as to what house they were sorted into. I used reasoning and logic for some, while the others were randomly put in, same with blood status).

Sally Smith, Sophie Roper, Lily Moon and Sally-Anne Perks have never been confirmed for their house. Technically, Runcorn as well, but with my deduction, she's Hufflepuff.

There are only 3 muggleborns in Harry's year (this is canon). The other 37 students are either pureblood or half-blood. A lot of them are educated guesses; I did as much research as I could before determining their blood status.

Hufflepuff

Girls:

1. Susan Bones - PB

2. Hannah Abbott - HB (yes, half-blood, it's canon)

3. Megan Jones - HB

4. Leanne Runcorn - PB (look at #4 in the canon list)

5. Sally Smith - PB (The Smith family is commonly sorted into Hufflepuff)

1. Wayne Hopkins - HB

2. Justin Finch-Fletchley - MB

3. Ernest MacMillan - PB

4. Roger Malone - HB

5. Oliver Rivers - HB

Ravenclaw

1. Padma Patil - PB

2. Morag MacDougal - PB

3. Sue Li - HB

4. Mandy Brocklehurst - HB

5. Lisa Turpin - HB

Boys:

1. Kevin Entwhistle - MB

2. Anthony Goldstein - HB

3. Stephen Cornfoot - PB

4. Michael Corner - HB

5. Terry Boot - HB

Gryffindor

Girls:

1. Lavender Brown - PB

2. Parvati Patil - PB

3. Hermione Granger - MB

4. Sophie Roper - HB

Boys:

1. Ronald Weasley - PB

2. Dean Thomas - HB (he doesn't know his dad was a wizard: which is canon)

3. Neville Longbottom - PB

4. Harry Potter - HB

5. Seamus Finnigan - HB

Slytherin

Girls:

1. Daphne Greengrass - PB

2. Pansy Parkinson - PB

3. Millicent Bulstrode - PB

4. Tracey Davis - HB

5. Lily Moon - PB (She was meant to be the original Luna. As the 5 girls are already confirmed for Ravenclaw, she can't be a raven. I think Slytherin is the only sorting option because it's easy to imagine she could be bullied there.)

Boys:

1. Theodore Nott - PB

2. Draco Malfoy - PB

3. Gregory Goyle - PB

4. Vincent Crabbe - PB

5. Blaise Zabini - PB

Blood Status

Pureblood = PB

Half-blood = HB

Muggleborn = MB
