"No, not that one." I pointed to the candle holders behind Bella. "Those."

Bella put the chrome candle holders back down and picked up a simple black wrought iron set that looked like a skinny teacup with a large handle with a curl at the bottom of the handle, pointing away from the cup.

"Oh I like these." Bella smiled at me and I knew she meant it. She'd let me know if I chose something that looked out of place. Her honestly was one of my favorite things about her. "It's like an old fashioned one you'd see someone walking through a castle holding."

"I was actually thinking the exact same thing."

"Hey Leah!" Angela called a from the other end of the aisle. "I think I found something you're going to love."

Bella and I walked down to meet Angela who was holding something behind her back. She got a huge smile on her face before bringing her hand on front of her. It was a painting of two wolves, one darker and one lighter, though the whole painting was in a bluish tone so their exact coloring was hard to tell. They were cuddled together on a snowy mountain under the night sky. Angela was right, I loved it.

"I… I NEED that. Above my bed preferably. You have an amazing eye, Angela."

"Thanks. I'll just bring it over to the counter so they can hold onto it for us. What else are we looking for anyways? Candle holders and napkin holders. You decided on having a reception with tables, yes?"

"Yeah. Given the amount of food the pack alone will be consuming, I figured it would be better to have something more formal to eat. And a dance floor. The community hall has already been booked as well as a chair and table rental. I plan to have those colorful bows on the seats. Navy and burgundy, as well as the napkins and placemats. The company with the table and chairs has white tablecloths that fit their tables already. I want fake flowers, because I want to keep my bouquet, so if we can find those in my colors as well as a silver ribbon to tie them that would probably be it." I glanced over at Angela whose eyes had travelled past me toward the cashier.

"Sorry. I just… is that girl staring at us?"

Bella and I both turned around to find Alexandra Young, Emily's little sister staring at us with a strange look on her face.

"Can I help you?" I asked, trying to keep my hate for her sister out of my voice.

It wasn't Alexa's fault that her sister was psychotic. Alexa was a few years younger so I never really spent as much time with her. But from what I remembered, she was a really kind person. She'd wanted a career in Veterinary medicine since as far back as I could remember and last I heard, she was at the top of her class and graduating early, following her dreams.

"Um… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to… I just… well… I know you hate her, we all heard what she did… but… um…"

"Come on, spit it out. I'm a little busy here." Shit, I didn't mean to snap but these moment were not the kind I wanted ruined with the thought of that conniving bitch. I could see Kim appear from another aisle in the corner of my eye, holding the napkin holders I'd agreed to earlier.

"She's sick. Really sick. They think maybe that's why she did it."

"Yeah, must be hard being mental."

"Lee please… it's a brain tumor."

Holy shit. Was this some kind of trick or… no, Alexa wouldn't do that, not even for Emily. I could feel a hand reach for mine and give a gentle squeeze. I looked down to find Bella's pale hand in my own. I looked back over to Alexa and could tell from her face that she was being honest.

"Is she going to be okay?" I felt like my heart sank.

Emily had ruined my life, but prior to that, she was like a sister to me. When I think back to all the things we had been through, up until around the time that Sam went missing, she didn't seem to ever want to act on her feelings. I knew they were there but it was just a crush, and Emily loved me too much to risk our relationship on a simple fling. Was this really the reason she did what she did? Emily used to be so level headed, so it made sense. It was definitely possible. But what would that mean for us? Could we ever go back to normal if she pulled through?

"I…" Alexa let out a gut wrenching sob. "No. They said 2 months would be a miracle. They can't find anyone willing to do the surgery because of the location. They're saying in a lot of fancy words, pretty much that one wrong move would essentially turn her into a psychopath. Dad's over with your parents right now but I thought it best that you hear it from me. She… she may not be willing to vocalize it right now, but I'm sure she'd love to see you before…"

"I…" I had no idea what to even say to that.

"Carlisle. I can ask if he'd be willing." Bella said quietly beside me. "God knows he's got the steadiest hands of any doctor that's ever existed. If anyone can save her, it would be him."

I nodded, though I wasn't sure Emily's grandfather would allow a cold one anywhere near her. "We'll have to talk to her grandfather first."

"It's pointless. No one is willing to risk it." Alexa said, but I could hear the hope in her voice that wasn't there a moment ago.

"He's not like others."

/Emily's hospital room – Seattle/

I had Bella, Angela and Kim with me for support. We'd already talked to her Grandfather and Carlisle. She was set to go in first thing in the morning. Carlisle guaranteed he'd have a plan by 8am.

"Will you guys stay here with me? We can get a room? I want to be here when… I need…" I couldn't hold it in any longer. The tears poured out of my eyes and the sob's ripped through me as the woman who once was never far from my side lay hooked up to machines with wires and hoses.

"We'll stay. Right guys?"

"Of course. Anything you need." Kim said. She was there to see everything happening in real time from the moment Jared imprinted on her, and Angela could see all of my thoughts on the matter any time we phased together. Bella of course was the reason I was getting my happy ending in the first please. These three women were family, and the support I needed. Sam would be nice but I didn't know if I could keep my thoughts civil with him near her. What if it was just a trick to get close to him? Of course, I could see that it was not.

I didn't look at them. I couldn't. I felt so ashamed of my hate for Emily. I should have known something was wrong. I knew her better than anyone and I knew this was not something she would do and yet… I believed it. I believed she was the worst kind of person and really she was just struggling. Well, as far as we know anyways.

They haven't proven it was all the tumors fault but it was likely. Carlisle said after he went over her scans from today and got an actual look inside her brain that he would tell me if the tumor was the reason. Edward also said he could take a look and figure it out. See if there were any neurological changes after she wakes up, assuming she'd wake up.

It was getting later in the day so we left the hospital to rest and prepare for the long day ahead. Bella had already contacted a nearby hotel and paid for a room that we would share. The room had a king, which we'd all sleep in together and a jacuzzi tub. I took advantage of the tub and tried to calm my thoughts while Angela ordered dinner through room service.

"Do you really think the tumor made her do those things?" I could hear Angela asking as she moved about the room, waiting for our food to arrive. "I mean she really put a spell on Sam to fake an imprint? I can't imagine what Leah's going through."

"Yeah, from what I've heard, before we found out what she was doing, Emily was an amazing person. I think it's completely possible that it's the tumor causing her behavior. I wonder how Sam feels about this…" Bella sat down on the bed, which made a slight squeak from the springs.

"Knock knock." Kim said, opening the door slightly. "You alive in here? I've been calling your name for the last few minutes."

"What? Oh. I must have fallen asleep. I don't remember the last time I was this comfortable. I think I need one of these. How do you add jacuzzi tub to a wedding registry?"

"Um, you don't?" Kim laughed and I joined her.

It was a really nice thing to have on hand, especially after a long stressful day.

"Yeah. Just give me a few minutes to get dressed. I'll be right out." As I dried my hair. I couldn't help but think about Emily. What had she been going through all on her own? Would she make it through this? Was the tumor the cause of everything? If she did survive, and the tumor caused everything, was there a chance we could even go back to how things were? Would I even want to? Would she? Would Sam be okay with it?

There was just too much to think about so I decided my thought would remain on the only thing that mattered in that moment: Making sure Emily Young survived.

/BPOV/

"I know. I miss you too. I'll tell you how everything goes as soon as we know. I love you, Jake."

"I love you too, Honey." Jake hung up his end of the phone and the line went dead. I placed my phone inside my purse, a new one that Alice bought as a birthday present for me with a backward C and another C intertwined. Alice told me is was a company called Chanel, which I always thought was a perfume company.

I held Leah's hand as we waited for the operation to finish. Carlisle said it could take a while but given his steady hands and amazing eyesight and speed, he might be able to do it faster so we decided to stay in the waiting room and took turns getting food and drinks so Leah could stay nearby, only leaving the use washroom at times.

Leah let go of my hand and stood up. At first I thought maybe Carlisle was done but I was wrong. He parents had arrived. They were like second parents to Emily and despite everything that happened, they still loved her very much. I mean if Leah could learn to forgive her cousin for what she did, anyone could. Given that it might be the reason for everything, I couldn't imagine anyone holding it against her.

We'd been waiting a total of 7 hours, 2 of which we were joined by Harry and Sue and still there was no word from the operating room. Emily's parents were sitting in another part of the waiting room with the Chief of their tribe, Emily's grandfather. Occasionally Sue would ask them if they needed anything and run down to the cafeteria. Everyone pretended these last 2 years with Emily, Leah and Sam didn't happen, and I wondered if her parents knew about the wolves, and the magic their daughter had performed.

At one point I overheard Harry telling them how amazing Carlisle is. They he fixed his heart up, good as new and he wouldn't trust any other doctor with something as serious as a brain tumor. He was right, Emily was in the best hands possible.

I walked over to Kim and Angela who were near a water cooler filling up small paper cups when the large double doors to the operating area opened up and Carlisle stepped out, pulling his mask off of his face.

He walked over to Emily's parents but was speaking loud enough that we could all hear. "I was able to fully remove the tumor from Emily's brain. We just need to wait to see how she responds, but based on the location and size. I'd like to confirm that the tumor is the reasoning for her personality changes and lapses judgement over the past couple years. I can't say for certain that removal fixed the problem, but it will definitely not get any worse." His next words told me that the Young's DID know about the tribal secrets. "I can have my son Edward come visit to make an assessment on her personality when she wakes up, if that's alright with you."

"Of course. Thank you so much Doctor Cullen. Can we see her?" Emily's father spoke, holding his wife tightly to him.

"We're seeing if she'll wake up from the anaesthesia for an assessment, then I'll have a nurse come get you. Shouldn't take very long at all."

"Thank you again. So much!" Emily's mother said, wiping tears from her eyes. They had been through so much and would be going through so much more as Emily heals. I couldn't imagine the strength they held.
