Chara and Frisk easily slipped through the bars and left the garage, before making their way towards Waterfall. As they got closer to the border of Snowdin, a blizzard began to pick up again. They soon stopped as they spotted a familiar figure standing in the middle of the path.

Papyrus quickly noticed them. "HELLO HUMAN! I WAS WORRIED THAT AFTER YOU GOT HURT WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO MOVE FOR A WHILE! BUT IT IS A RELIEF THAT YOU ARE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO ESCAPE A JAIL OF EVEN MY DESIGN!" Frisk giggled next to Chara, who simply rolled her eyes. After a couple of seconds, realization dawned on Papyrus' face. "WAIT A SECOND! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO ESCAPE! GET BACK THERE!"

Chara and Frisk's Souls floated out of their chests as their fight began. Chara was to go first, as always, but before doing so she looked at the FIGHT button and then at Frisk.

"It's okay, Chara. Trust me." Frisk said with a small smile.

Chara took a deep breath and let it out as a sigh, and proceeded to press the ACT button. However she frowned at the only two options available before turning to Frisk with the same expression. Frisk's smile faltered slightly as she nodded in confirmation. Chara pinched the bridge of her nose with her right hand as she pressed the *Flirt* option with her left.

"Papyrus..." Chara said with slightly clenched teeth, one of her eyebrows twitching. "I must be a snowflake... because I've fallen for you." Chara could feel her cheeks heating up, knowing that her normally pink cheeks had darkened to red. She looked to Frisk in exasperation, but Frisk was looking away from her and Chara was unable to see her face. Probably trying to hide laughing at me. Chara thought before turning her attention back to Papyrus.

"WHAT!? FLIRTING!?" Papyrus exclaimed. "SO, YOU REVEAL YOUR ULTIMATE FEELINGS!" Papyrus looked between Chara and Frisk. "LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS LATER! AFTER I'VE RECAPTURED YOU TWO!"

Papyrus launched his first attack, which was a bone wall only a few inches high. It passed harmlessly beneath Chara and Frisk's floating Souls.

Even his attacks are underwhelming. Chara thought, slightly disappointed, as she watched Frisk use her own turn to Spare Papyrus.

"SO YOU WON'T FIGHT..." Papyrus said. "THEN, LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN HANDLE MY FABLED 'BLUE ATTACK!'"

Chara stood perfectly still, knowing that the only way to be hurt by a blue attack was to move. She and Frisk held still as Papyrus sent many waves of blue bone walls towards them. After over a dozen of them washed harmlessly over their Souls, Chara relaxed, thinking it was over. Suddenly the red outline of Chara's Soul turned dark blue, and dropped to the ground. Before she could do anything, a very short bone wall sped towards her Soul, slamming into it. Chara stood stunned as a small cut opened on the left side of her waist.

"YOU'RE BLUE NOW. THAT'S MY ATTACK! NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!" Papyrus cackled.

"What the hell?! He has Soul Magic?!" Chara exclaimed as she pressed a hand to her wounded side. She felt heavy, as if gravity had suddenly been turned up several notches.

"Are you alright Chara?" Frisk asked, her worry apparent. "Do you need some food to heal?"

"I'll be fine, it just caught me by surprise." Chara reassured her. After Chara regained her composure, she quickly realized that with her MERCY button still gone, she would have no choice but to continue using the flirt option in order to progress. Chara clenched her teeth. "Damn it."

With no other alternative, she begrudgingly selected the flirt option. "Papyrus, we're not socks, but I think we'd make a great pair." After a few moments of watching him, Chara sighed with relief as Papyrus appeared to be too focused on the fight to have heard her.

After Papyrus' attack, which Chara and Frisk avoided easily by jumping to move their Souls out of the way, it was Frisk's turn. She quickly selected the Spare option once again.

"YEAH! DON'T MAKE ME USE MY SPEACIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus said before attacking again.

As the fight continued on, Chara and Frisk were easily able to dodge Papyrus' attacks. Chara was forced to continue flirting with Papyrus, thankfully he was too busy to hear anything she said. Frisk would continue to spare Papyrus so as to keep telling him that they refuse to fight him. Before each of his attacks, Papyrus would talk about joining the royal guard, but Chara was unsure if he was talking to them or himself.

"I CAN ALMOST TASTE MY FUTURE POPULARITY! PAPYRUS, HEAD OF THE ROYAL GUARD! PAPYRUS, UNPARALLELED SPAGHETTIORE!" He exclaimed. "UNDYNE WILL BE REALLY PROUD OF ME! THE KING WILL TRIM A HEDGE IN THE SHAPE OF MY SMILE! MY BROTHER WILL..." Papyrus hesitated. "WELL HE WON'T CHANGE VERY MUCH. I'LL HAVE LOTS OF ADMIRERS!"

After Papyrus' last attack Chara noticed he seemed to be getting slightly frustrated.

"URGH, GIVE UP!" He said throwing a dozen bone walls at them. "GIVE UP OR FACE MY... SPECIAL ATTACK!"

"Oh no, not your special attack!" Frisk cried.

"YEAH! VERY SOON I WILL USE MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus said excitedly. "NOT TOO LONG AND I WILL USE THAT SPECIAL ATTACK!"

Chara dodged his incoming attack, but wasn't too worried about his special attack.

"THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE, BEFORE MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus warned before sending more bones towards the girls. After they dodged them effortlessly he said. "BEHOLD...! MY SPECIAL ATTACK!"

Chara got into a stance, ready to jump and dodge anything that came their way. But nothing happened, all that appeared was a little white dog happily chewing on a bone.

"WHAT THE HECK!" Chara and Papyrus said together while Frisk simply laughed.

"THAT'S MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus shouted. "HEY! YOU STUPID DOG! DO YOU HEAR ME?! STOP MUNCHING ON THAT BONE!" The white dog started to slink away, bone still in its jaws. "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! COME BACK HERE WITH MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" The dog didn't listen and disappeared, leaving an awkward silence between Chara and Papyrus, while Frisk began to get her laughter under control.

"OH WELL. I'LL JUST USE A REALLY COOL NORMAL ATTACK." Papyrus said disheartened. Frisk, now calmed down, spared him once again. Papyrus sighed. "HERE'S AN ABSOLUTELY NORMAL ATTACK."

What followed was one of the strangest attacks Chara had ever seen. She and Frisk had to jump varying bone walls, bones made to look like the words Cool Dude, and a bone person, riding a bone skateboard. The next wave of bones that Chara saw being sent towards them was ridiculous. It was countless bones packed so tightly together she couldn't see between them, and the final bone at the end of the bone wall was the largest she had ever seen.

Chara swallowed. "I don't think I can make that jump." She got down into a stance, ready to simply take the attack and hope that it wouldn't hurt too much.

But as the attack got closer she heard Frisk on her right call to her. "Chara quick over here!" Looking over, Chara saw that Frisk had taken a knee and had cupped her hands together in front of her close to the ground. Without a moment's hesitation, Chara jumped over to Frisk, and placed one of her feet into Frisk's cupped hands, while placing her own hands onto Frisk's shoulders. With a grunt of effort, Frisk stood up and helped to launch both Chara and Chara's Soul above all of Papyrus' bones.

As Chara crested over the largest bone, realization slammed into her. As soon as she landed, she immediately spun around to look at Frisk. Frisk was still standing, but was covered in cuts and scrapes from all the bones that had struck her Soul.

"Chara... behind you." Frisk managed to say as one of her knees buckled, bringing her to a kneeling postion. Chara spun back around to see a final lone bone, only a centimeter tall, slowly inching towards her Soul. Ignoring the bone, Chara turned back around and ran over to Frisk, feeling a small bubble of panic from deep in her Soul. When she reached Frisk she quickly glanced at her HP and was relieved to see that there was still three points remaining. Chara didn't even care about the small cut that opened on her back when the bone she had ignored finally reached her Soul.

"I'm fine Chara, I've been through worse than this." Frisk said as she stood back up.

Chara sighed before standing up as well and looked into Frisk's closed eyes. "That was reckless of you, don't do it again. We can't free everyone if you die before we reach New Home."

Frisk looked down at the red-dropped snow she was standing on. "I'm sorry Chara, I just don't like to see you get hurt."

"I'll be fine, as long as everybody is freed, I don't matter and your only concern is yourself and freeing everyone."

"But Chara-" Frisk started but was interrupted by Papyrus, who had finished catching his breath.

"WELL... IT'S CLEAR... YOU CAN'T! DEFEAT ME!" After a moment of pause, Frisk nodded her head, while Chara simply stayed quiet. "YEAH! I CAN SEE YOU SHAKING IN YOUR BOOTS! THEREFORE I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, ELECT TO GRANT YOU PITY! I WILL SPARE YOU TWO!" With that Papyrus spared them, ending the fight.

*Chara and Frisk managed to get past The Great Papyrus!*

*You're filled with Determination!*
