As Chara left the Wishing Room, she found Frisk waiting for her on the long boardwalk that ran along a rock wall with plaques detailing the monsters' history. Chara joined Frisk on the boardwalk, and they began following it passing several water sausages that were sitting in the water beneath the planks of wood.

Chara didn't bother reading any of the plaques, as she already knew what they said, having read them more than once with Asriel. She did however glance at the last plaque when they reached the end of the boardwalk. Seeing the unsettling drawing covering the plaque's words, Chara was reminded of the first time her, and Asriel had seen it together.

Seeing it for the first time Chara immediately wished she hadn't. She knew she was going to have nightmares about it that night. However, it wasn't her dreams that had woken her, instead it was Asriel's whimpering and thrashing around. Getting out of bed, she quickly made her way to her adoptive brother's side and gently shook him awake. Asriel woke with a start and stared wide eyed at Chara.

"Are you okay Azzy? Were you having a nightmare?" Chara said softly as she placed a hand on his soft fur-covered head.

"I'm sorry Chara, I didn't mean to wake you." Asriel replied sitting up. "Yeah, I was having a terrible dream about that drawing we found in Waterfall."

"Do you think you'll be okay to go back to sleep?"

"I don't know, I'm too scared." Asriel was shaking and tears had formed in the corner of his eyes.

"Hmm how about we sleep together for tonight?"

"But what if I have another one tomorrow night?"

"Then we'll keep sleeping together as many times as we have to." Chara said as she crawled into Asriel's bed and got under the covers with him.

"Are you sure Chara? You don't have to do that."

"It's okay Asriel, we're best friends, right? That's what friends do; we look out for each other." she said as Asriel leaned his furry head against her shoulder.

After a few moments Asriel said, "Okay, thank you. Good night, Chara."

"Good night Azzy." Chara replied and before either of them knew it, they were both soundly asleep.

Chara was brought out of her reverie by somebody calling her name. Looking ahead, she that it was Frisk who was waiting for her on a small raft.

"Chara, are you alright?" Frisk asked, looking concerned.

"It's nothing, I'm fine." Chara replied, joining Frisk on the raft.

"Are you sure, you're not tired, are you? We can take a break if you want."

"I said I'm fine, stop worrying about me and worry about yourself!" Chara snapped, not in the mood for Frisk's fussing.

"I... I'm sorry, I'm just worried about you." Tears began to well up in the corners of Frisk's closed eyes.

A small pang of guilt managed to work its way past the LOVE that had been smothering Chara's emotions.

Sighing, Chara placed a hand on Frisk's shoulder. "Frisk, I'm sorry, I shouldn't had snapped at you. But, trust me, I'm fine. I was just...looking back on some old memories is all."

Frisk wiped the tears from her light cheeks. "Really? Was it a good memory?"

Chara nodded her head before pushing the raft off from the boardwalk.

"Good, I'm happy for you." Frisk gave a modest smile.

She looks better smiling than frowning. Chara thought as they came to a stop at the next boardwalk.

*Your LOVE has decreased!

Chara glared at the dialogue box. She was beginning to wonder if the world was mocking her as she closed the box and began making her way down the boardwalk with Frisk.

As they walked down the boardwalk side-by-side, Chara saw a glint of light to their left and came to an immediate halt right as a glowing blue spear imbedded itself into the planks of wood in front of them. Chara whipped her head to the left and saw Undyne, fully armored, standing on the cliff wall, looking down at them. Undyne summoned three more spears in front of her and pointed them at Chara and Frisk, before Chara could do anything, she was pulled forward by Frisk, who had grabbed her hand and started running.

As the two of them ran, Undyne continued to throw spears at them three at a time. It was difficult to dodge the spears when they were coming from behind, and so Chara was not surprised when a sudden sharp pain radiated from her left arm. With no time to check on the wound, Chara kept running after Frisk, who still had Chara's hand clasped tightly in her own.

They pushed forward and, by the time they had reached the end of the twisting boardwalk, Chara had caught two more spears, one on the right side of her waist and another had grazed her left calf. Chara and Frisk ran into the tall grass ahead of them and both came to a skidding halt halfway through, as a few more spears sailed overhead.

Chara could hear Undyne's clanging boot stomps getting closer over her own gasping breathing. Covering her mouth to help quiet her breath, Chara and Frisk held still as Undyne came within a few feet of their hiding spot. Chara could just barely make out Undyne through the grass. She watched as Undyne raised her right arm and brought it swiftly down into the grass in front of her. However, when she brought her arm back up, she had grabbed onto the face of the yellow monster kid from Snowdin, who looked overjoyed.

After a few moments of silence, Undyne gently lowered Monster Kid back into the grass, and walked back toward the boardwalk. Chara took her hand away from her mouth and breathed a sigh of relief. Noticing Frisk was working her way out of the tall grass, Chara took a moment to listen for Undyne, before following Frisk out of the grass.

After passing through to the other end Chara heard Monster Kid exit the grass behind her.

"Yo... did you see that?!" He exclaimed excitedly. "Undyne just... TOUCHED ME! I'm never washing my face ever again! Man are you guys unlucky. If you were standing just a LITTLE bit to the left! Yo, don't worry! I'm sure we'll see her again!" And with that, Chara watched as the small monster kid ran a few feet, faceplanted into the dirt, got back up and took off once again.

One of these days, he's going to trip and actually get hurt. Chara thought as she shook her head. She looked down at her injuries, luckily, they were all shallow cuts, the kind that don't bleed much but sting painfully. I'll be fine, but what about Frisk?

Chara looked over at Frisk and saw that she was barely standing, her legs were shaking, and she was covered with over half a dozen cuts. Chara was stunned for several moments as she continued to stare at Firsk.

Firsk noticed Chara staring. "Oh, good Chara, you're okay. I was w-worried you had gotten seriously h-hurt."

Chara felt a glimmer of panic break through her shell of LOVE as well as a bubble of anger. "Frisk, what the hell?!"

"It's okay Chara, I'll be fine. I've got some food left."

"That's not the point, I told you to take care of yourself!"

"I'm sorry, I really was trying, but I've always had difficulty avoiding Undyne's spears."

Chara sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, sending a twinge of pain through her arm. "Just eat your food quickly so we can get out of here."

"But you're hurt too, we can share"

Chara shook her head. "I'll be fine, you need it more than I do, because you have less HP than me."

"But Chara-" Chara held up her hand, interrupting Frisk.

Chara, not wanting to argue, simply said. "Just eat and get healed up, alright."

After a moment of silence between them, Frisk nodded her head and ate one of the last two cinnamon buns in her inventory, before moving ahead and waiting next to the nearby save point. Chara took a step forward to follow, blinking as she did so, but when she opened her eyes, Frisk and the save point as well as the mousehole and cheese encased in crystal. Alarmed Chara spun around and was face to face with a blank cavern wall. Turning back around, she saw that the other end of the cavern was blocked by a wall as well. It was then that she noticed a few feet ahead of her on the left wall was a wooden, grey, door.

*Chara and Frisk managed to escape Undyne. You're filled with Determination!*
