Robot Havoc

It was a calm, peaceful day at Duel Academy, all the students where enjoying the weekend today. If we move to the junkyard at the north of Academy Island, we'll find Xander Murphy walking around with a bag full of some broken devices he gathered from there.

"Well well, there are certainly a lot of nice, broken machines, just waiting for getting fixed!" He said joyfully. "I just love tinkering with things!"

He kept walking until he came to a big pile and saw an old Duel Academy duel disk sticking out of it. "Look at that. An old duel disk. I guess something wrong happened to it." Xander smirked. "That can be fixed. No problem!" He started to pull the duel disk. But just as he did, all the junk on the pile collapsed so suddenly. Xander yelped and jumped back to avoid that. Once it was over, Xander looked at the pile and...

"No way!" He gasped in shock.

The duel disk he tried to pull... was actually attached to the arm of a robot. A humanoid robot to be exact. It was white with some armor plates on its chest area and legs. Its head was oval-shaped with one single eye in the middle. The robot was covered in dirt. Probably because of all the junk that covered it moments ago.

But that didn't stop Xander from getting over his shock and eye on the robot with star-filled eyes. "I must be dreaming! A dueling robot!? Here!? Right in front of me!? I hit the jackpot!" He cheered as he jumped up and down. Once he calmed down, he grabbed the robot's shoulders, staring at it in eye level. "Now I definitely know what to fix today..."

Meanwhile, it was quiet in the infirmary. The three former Shadow Riders were asleep. And there were no visitors today. That is, until the doors opened, allowing a weary Shiori to peek inside. He turned his head from side to side, making sure if no one was here. (Besides the sleeping students.) Once he was sure the coast was clear, he stepped inside, holding a small vase with yellow roses. He walked over to Cynthia Pepper's bed. He placed the vase on the small table next to her bed. He couldn't help but stare at the green-haired girl, who was sleeping peacefully.

"She's even prettier in person." He muttered.

"Well that's sweet." A voice spoke up. Shiori yelped and jumped at this. He turned around and saw Kaito, who was awake and gave him an amused look. "Cynthia loves flowers. Especially yellow roses. How did you know they're her favorite?"

Shiori scratched the back of his head. "I-I didn't know they were her favorite. I just wanted to give her something."

Since he was facing Kaito, Shiori didn't notice Cynthia opening one of her eyes and looked at them.

Kaito grinned. "Is that so? Is it possible that you have a crush on her?"

That of course caused Shiori's face turn red. "N-no! No I don't! I was just wishing you guys getting better! That's all!"

Kaito's grin didn't falter. "Then I suppose you forgot to get something for me and Atticus."

The ritual duelist tried to argue, but nothing came out of his mouth. He then sighed and walked away. "You know what? Forget it. I gotta go."

Miss Fontaine came just in time to see Shiori leave the infirmary. "Oh, Shiori." But he didn't hear her. She then turned to Kaito, who was awake. "Did he come here to visit you?"

"He actually came here to visit Cynthia." He replied.

"Mmm.~ Yellow roses. My favorite." A female voice mused.

Both of them turned to the source of the voice, who happened to be the girl in question. She was smiling blissfully while sniffing on the roses.

"I see you're finally awake." Kaito noted.

Cynthia turned to him. "Long time no see, Kaito."

Miss Fontaine approached her. "How are you feeling?"

"A little roughed up, but otherwise, pretty fine." She then eyed on the doors. "Sorry for asking, but who was that boy?"

The school nurse smiled slightly. "Shiori Koizumi. A first year student from Ra Yellow."

Cynthia smiled in return, nodded and turned to the roses she got. "Shiori... cute name."

Meanwhile, Xander was inside the dorm room he and Matt shared. The midget wasn't here though, giving Xander some peace and quiet as he checked on the robot he found. He opened a hatch on its back and looked inside. "Hmm. It looks like its processor is damaged. And so is the PCB." Xander mused. "This one will be a challenge, but nothing I can't overcome!"

And so, he picked up his tools and started to get work. He's been working for almost two hours. Once he was done fixing the tech inside its body, he cleaned off the dirt covering the robot. He sighed as he wiped some sweat off his forehead. "Okay, that should do the trick." He then opened the hatch on the back of the robot's head, where he found the On button. He pressed it, closed the hatch and stepped back. He heard the sound of the system starting up. He then saw the robot shaking a little. He walked around get a look on its front. It was then he noticed the robot's one eye lit up with a red glow. And then...

"Systems on!" It said with a light, computerized male voice, getting up on its feet and moved its head from side to side. "Activate dueling protocols!"

Xander smiled at this. "Hey, it works! Now this should be fun." He approached it. "Hey there..."

"ERROR! ERROR!" It yelled as it suddenly flailed its arms violently, making Xander jump.

"Whoa! What the!?"

"Proceeding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ERROR! ERROR!" The robot's head sparked with electricity while it shook, not acting so well.

"Something must be wrong with its systems." Xander muttered.

And then, the robot suddenly stopped moving, now staring at the floor. Xander approached it slowly. "Maybe I should shut it down and..." But before he could finish his sentence, the robot's left arm slammed him, causing the mechanic to fall on the floor. He looked up and saw the one eye on the robot glow brighter.

"Must Duel!" It said with a darker voice before it opened the door and ran off.

Xander got up on his feet and walked outside just in time to see the robot disappear in the forest. "This is bad." He said worriedly.

"I'll tell you guys, this is the best deck there is." A boy with short black hair from Obelisk Blue boasted. He and his two friends were standing near the beach, with them looking at his cards.

"Yeah, no kidding." The boy with gray, messy hair agreed.

"Those cards are good, Boss." The boy with spiky white hair added.

"You bet they are." Their leader grinned. "And there's no way I can lose. No one can defeat me!"

But unbeknownst to the Obelisk boys, something was hiding in the woods and glared at them with its one glowing eye.

Xander was running through the forest, looking for the dueling robot. "Where is it!? Where is it!?" He wondered in panic.

"AAAAHHHH!"

He stopped when he heard that sudden scream. "What was that!?" He rushed to the place it came from. He arrived at the beach, and saw something shocking. An Obelisk boy with short black hair was laying on the ground with swirling eyes and a duel disk on his arm. His two lackeys were sitting next to him, hugging each other with frightened expressions. Xander approached them. "What happened?"

The one with gray hair answered. "A-a-a crazy robot showed up and challenged the Boss to a duel!"

"And it t-t-took him down in one turn!" The white-haired boy added.

Hearing this made Xander look grim. "Where did it go?"

The Obelisk boys pointed their fingers toward one direction, not able to answer with words.

"Okay, thanks." At that Xander ran off.

Meanwhile, Andrew, Shiori and Matt were walking around on campus.

"So, anything new from the former possessed students?" Andrew asked the ritual duelist.

"When I checked on them, Atticus and Cynthia were still sleeping. Kaito was awake and seemed to be better than before."

"Did you ask him about what happened when he and the others became possessed?" Matt asked.

Shiori paused before he rubbed the back of his head. "I never thought of that. Sorry."

"It's okay. We can worry about that another day." Andrew said.

"AAAAAHHH!"

The trio jumped at the sudden scream.

"You guys heard that!?" Andrew asked.

"It came from the forest!" Matt pointed out.

"Come on!" Shiori to the direction the scream came from with his friends right behind him.

After a while, they came to a small clearing where they found the source of the screaming. An Obelisk boy with orange hair and a white-haired Obelisk girl who sat on the ground in shock. In fact, the trio recognized those two.

"James?" Andrew said.

"And Alicia?" Matt added.

"What happened here?" Shiori asked.

James raised his head slowly, still shocked by whatever he and Alicia have been through. "It-it was... a dueling robot! It showed up from nowhere and challenged me to a duel. And it defeated me so easily, like I was an amateur."

Andrew, Shiori and Matt stood there in silence, letting the words sink in. After a moment, the ritual duelist broke the silence as he snorted. "A dueling robot? Seriously? Is that story the best prank you could come up with?"

"It's true!" Alicia replied. "I saw it with my own eyes!"

Matt was not entirely convinced as he turned to her. "Okay, look. I know you like to mess with people, but..."

"Come on! Where is it!" Someone cried out. The group turned to the direction the voice came and saw Xander running. He looked quite exhausted.

"Xander!" Andrew called out.

The mechanic rushed over to them and tried to catch his breath. "Guys...(pant) you gotta...(pant)..."

"Take it easy." Shiori said. "Just calm down before telling us what happened."

Xander took his time until his breathing became steady. He then took a breath before speaking up. "Okay, I need your help. Have you guys seen a robot around here?"

That question earned him surprised looks from the group.

"For real? Because those two said something about a dueling robot." Matt stated, pointing at the two Obelisks.

"What's going on here, Xander?" Andrew asked.

The mechanic sighed, deciding it was no point of hiding it. "Well..."

The group listened to him as he was telling his story. From when he found the robot i the junkyard, to when he fixed it, and finally when it ran amok after he turned it on. "...so yeah, I kinda messed up." He asked shameful.

"You don't say." Alicia muttered as she and James gave him deadpanned looks.

"So what now?" Matt asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Shiori asked. "We have to stop that tin can before it causes too much damage!"

"Right." Andrew agreed. "Let's spread out and search for it! Anyone who finds it contacts the rest of us."

"Right!" They agreed before they left the Obelisks and searched for the robot.

Andrew searched the forest.

Shiori searched the beach.

Matt searched the docks.

And Xander searched outside the Academy building. "Where did it go?" He muttered. He started to look regretful. "This is my fault. If only I..."

"Must Duel! Must Duel!" A familiar voice spoke up.

"There you are!" Xander said and followed the voice. He kept running until he finally caught up with the robot. He saw it enter the junkyard. "So it returned to the place it came from." He muttered. He then pulled out is PDA and prepared a message.

I found it. Head to the junkyard! Now!

Once he sent the message, he entered the junkyard. He looked around, walking slowly. "Now, where are you hiding?" He walked around the corner of a pile of junk and came to a clearing with some metal plates on the ground. And when he reached the middle of the place...

"Must duel!" The robot cried out from the top of a junk pile and jumped down, landing right in front of him.

The mechanic gave it a glare. "There you are!"

"Must duel! Must duel!" It ranted.

"You want a duel? I'll give you one! And I'm gonna take you down!" Xander declared, activating his duel disk.

And then, he was surprised to see the armor plats on the robot's chest open up, revealing some kind of wheel with five slots, each one containing a dueling deck. He also noticed a small screen above it, showing the number 1. And then, the wheel started to spin, while the number changed from 1 to 2, 3, 4, 5 and 1, continuing the cycle. After a few seconds, the wheel stopped and the screen showed number 5. And then, the robot grabbed the deck closest to the screen, closed the armor plates, and inserted the deck into its duel disk.

'It looks like those 5 decks are on different levels, with number 1 being the lowest and number 5 the highest.' Xander noted. "All right then, let's do this!" He declared as he and the robot drew their opening hands.

"Duel!"

Xander: 4000

Robot: 4000

"I'll start with this..." Xander drew his sixth card. "I play Ancient Gear Soldier in attack mode!" The mechanical humanoid with machine gun appeared. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 1300 LV: 4) "Then I'll end my turn with two facedowns." He inserted two cards into his duel disk.

"Commence turn! Draw a card!" The robot drew its sixth card. "Activate Heavy Storm spell card!" It inserted the named card into its duel disk, making the image of said card appear. "Heavy Storm destroys all spell and trap cards on the field!" A strong gust erupted from the spell card and destroyed Xander's facedown cards.

"Not good." He muttered.

"Summoning Tribe Infecting Virus in attack mode!" The robot placed the monster card on its duel disk and a bunch of humanoid, sick-looking creatures appeared. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1000 LV: 4) "By discarding one card, Tribe Infecting Virus destroys all monsters of a declared type!"

Xander gasped as the robot discarded one of its cards.

"Destroy machine type monsters!" The creatures exhaled some purple gas that engulfed the Ancient Gear Soldier, making it explode. And then, an image of a spell card appeared on the robot's field. "Card of Compensation activated! Once it is moved from the hand to graveyard, I must draw two cards from the deck." It drew its extra cards. "Now commence battle! Tribe Infecting Virus, attack opponent directly!" The sick-looking creatures exhaled more gas, which enveloped Xander, making him cough.

Xander: 4000-2400

"Placing two cards facedown!" Two cards appeared at the robot's feet. "Turn complete!"

Xander gritted his teeth.

"Xander!" Andrew called out as he and the others arrived.

"What do you know?" Shiori said, eyeing on the mechanic's opponent. "It really is a dueling robot."

Matt noted the life points and frowned. "And it looks like Xander is in trouble."

Xander drew. "I summon Gold Gadget in attack mode!" A golden gadget-like robot appeared. (ATK: 1700 DEF: 800 LV: 4) "When this monster is normal or special summoned, I can summon a level 4 machine type monster from my hand. And I choose Green Gadget!" The green gadget-like robot joined the golden one. (ATK: 1400 DEF: 800 LV: 4) "With this monster summoned, I can add Red Gadget from my deck to my hand." He took the named card from his deck and showed it to the robot.

"Now I activate the spell card Iron Draw! Since I have two machine type monsters on the field, I get to draw two cards." He drew his extra cards. "And I think I'll activate one of them: Mystical Space Typhoon! With this I can destroy one spell or trap card. So you can say goodbye to one of your facedown cards." The spell card unleashed a whirlwind that blew away one of the robot's facedown cards. "Now time for me to attack your..."

"Activating trap card! Threatening Roar!" The robot interrupted and revealed its remaining facedown card. "Due to the trap card's effect, you are unable to attack this turn."

Xander clicked his tongue. "Fine, I'll end my turn with a facedown." He concluded and inserted a card into his duel disk.

"Drawing new card!" The robot drew. "Activate Tribe Infecting Virus' special ability! Discarding one card to destroy machine type monsters!" It discarded one of its cards and the sick-looking creatures exhaled some gas that enveloped and destroyed the robots.

"You triggered Gold Gadget's special effect!" Xander announced. "If it's destroyed, I can summon a level 4 Gadget monster from my deck. And I choose Silver Gadget!" A gadget robot, similar to Gold Gadget, appeared and crouched down. But like the name suggested, this one was silver. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1000 LV: 4)

"Processing strategy." The robot said, staying still in silent for a moment before speaking up again. "Discarding one card to destroy machine type monsters!" It discarded another one of its cards, and the silver robot fell victim for the gas.

"You triggered Silver Gadget's special effect! Just like Gold Gadget, when it's destroyed, it lets me summon a level 4 Gadget monster from my deck! Now come forth, Yellow Gadget!" The yellow gadget appeared and crouched down in front of Xander. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "And with this monster summoned, I can take a Green Gadget from my deck to my hand." Xander fanned out his deck and took the card he wanted.

"Discarding one card! Destroy all machine type monsters!" The robot discarded another card, the yellow robot was destroyed by the gas from the sick-looking creatures.

"Geez! Xander's losing monsters as fast as he summons them." Matt said.

"Maybe, but the robot's hand is almost empty. Only one card left." Andrew noted.

"That's true." Shiori added. "It wasted so many cards to get rid of Xander's monsters. Not exactly the smartest strategy it had."

"Processing strategy." The robot said and waited for a moment before speaking up. "Due to special ability, while being the only card in my hand, Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight can be summoned with no sacrifices." A blue and red armored knight on a purple horse with two lances appeared. (ATK: 2300 DEF: 2100 LV: 7)

The boys gasped.

"You were saying?" Matt asked turning to Shiori.

"Commence battle! Tribe Infecting Virus, attack opponent directly!" The sick-looking creatures exhaled even more gas, which made Xander cough.

Xander: 2400-0800

"Now Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight, attack opponent directly!" The armored knight, riding on his horse, charged forward.

"I activate my trap card! Scrap-Iron Scarecrow!" Xander's facedown card flipped up. "This lets me stop your attack!" A metal scarecrow appeared and created a barrier that blocked a stab from one of the knight's lances. "And that's not all. After this trap card is activated, it doesn't go to the graveyard. Instead, it returns to its facedown position." And true to his words, the trap flipped down and remained on the field.

"That's a handy card." Shiori commented.

"Definitely. Let's hope he gets something good now." Andrew added.

"Turn has concluded!" The robot said.

"All right then." The mechanic drew his next card. "First I summon Green Gadget in attack mode!" Another green gadget-like robot appeared. (ATK: 1400 DEF: 800 LV: 4) "As you know, I can now take another Red Gadget from my deck to my hand." He fanned out his deck and took the named card. "Then I'll play Double Summon. This spell card lets me normal summon a second time. So now I sacrifice my gadget in order to summon Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Chimera!" The gadget-like robot disappeared, and a new monster roared as it rose up. It was a green, four-legged creature with a tail and three heads in different shapes. The one on its left almost looked like Ancient Gear Soldier. The head on its right was yellow and bird-like. The head in center was dark gray and looked like some kind of beast. (ATK: 2300 DEF: 1300 LV: 6)

"That's a new one." Matt said.

"And just what Xander needs." Shiori added.

"Got that right. But first, let me explain its powers. It has three special abilites and depending on the Gadget monster I sacrificed, it gets access to one of them. And this is what Green Gadget gave it: 300 additional attack points!" (ATK: 2300-2600) "Now my Chimera, destroy Tribe Infecting Virus!" The mechanical monster leapt forward and pounced on the sick-looking creatures, shattering them into pixels.

Robot: 4000-3000

"I end my turn."

"Drawing new card." The robot drew its next and looked at it. After a silent moment it inserted the card into its duel disk. "Placing one card facedown. Turn complete."

Xander drew. 'It's possible that the facedown card is something to stop my attack. And while many Ancient Gear monsters keep the opponent from activating spells or traps when they attack, my Chimera is not one of them. I need to be careful.'
"I activate Pot of Greed. Now I can draw two more cards." He drew his extra cards. "Then I'll summon Red Gadget in defense mode." The red robot with the gadget on its back appeared. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 1500 LV: 4) "Thanks to this monster's effect, I can add a Yellow Gadget to my hand." He took the named card from his deck. "Then I'll end my turn with two facedowns." Two cards appeared at his feet.

"Why didn't he attack?" Matt wondered.

"Probably because of the robot's facedown card." Shiori assumed.

"Yeah. With only 800 life points left, it might be risky to attack now." Andrew added.

"Drawing new card." The robot drew. "Activate Card of Denise. Now I draw until 5 cards are in my hand." The robot drew a new hand. It then inserted one of its cards into its duel disk "Activating spell card! Tribute to the Doomed!" The image of the named card appeared. "By discarding one card from hand, Tribute to the Doomed destroys a monster on the field." It slid one of its cards into the graveyard slot. "Destroy Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Chimera!" The monster in question was engulfed by a red aura and screeched before it exploded.

"My Chimera!" Xander cried out.

"Summoning Command Knight in attack mode!" A female warrior in red armor with a black cape and holding a sword appeared. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 1900 LV: 4) "Command Knight gives warrior type monsters 400 additional attack points." (ATK: 2300-2700) (ATK: 1200-1600) "Activate Mystical Space Typhoon! Destroy facedown card!" The image of the spell card appeared and created a whirlwind and destroyed one of Xander's facedown cards. Specifically...

"There goes Scrap-Iron Scarecrow." Shiori commented.

"Commence battle! Command Knight, destroy Red Gadget!" The female warrior raised her sword and approached the red robot.

"I activate my trap!" Xander revealed one of his facedown cards. "Back to the Front! This lets me summon a monster from my graveyard in defense mode. So welcome back, Gold Gadget!" The golden robot appeared next to Red Gadget. (ATK: 1700 DEF: 800 LV: 4) "And once again, I'll use its ability and summon a level 4 machine type monster from my hand, like my second Red Gadget!" A duplicate of the red robot appeared. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 1500 LV: 4)

"Proceed your attack!" The robot ordered, making the female warrior come closer.

"Nice try, but you forgot about my other facedown card!" The card in question flipped up. "It's called Metalhold the moving Blockade! And I can activate it by selecting a number of level 4 machine type monsters on my field. By doing so it becomes a monster!" The gadgets glowed, along with the trap cards as it transformed. And then it was standing on the field in the form of a large, purplish pink robot that was larger than a tank and had shoulder-like cannons. (ATK: 0 DEF: 0 LV. 4) "And after it's summoned, my chosen monsters become equip spells that allow it to absorb their attack points!" At that, the gadgets flied up and attached themselves into the machine's holes that were shaped like gears. All three fit in as they began to spin, causing the robot to start moving. (ATK: 0-4300)

"Whoa! 4300 attack points!" Matt gasped.

"Nice one, Xander!" Andrew cheered.

"Retreat from battle!" At the robot's command, the female warrior returned to its field. "Turn complete." It concluded.

"My move then!" Xander drew. "I summon Sergeant Electro in attack mode!" A smaller robot in silver appeared. It had no legs. It was a hovering robot with a left arm shaped like a lance and a gatling gun on its right arm. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1300 LV: 4) "This monster has a special ability. Once per turn, I get to pick one of your facedown spell or trap cards. Then, as long as Electro is on the field, that card can't be activated." Electro pointed its lance at the robot's facedown card and fired some lightning at it. As a result, the card was covered in crackling lightning.

"Nice! Now he's safe to attack!" Shiori cheered.

"How about to crush that Command Knight and deal some serious damage?" Matt suggested.

"It's not that simple." Andrew replied. "As long as that robot controls other monsters on the field, Command Knight is safe from Xander's attacks."

"Oh."

"Now Metalhold, destroy Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight!" The giant robot charged up its cannons and fired a pair of energy blasts, easily destroying the knight and his horse.

Robot: 3000-1400

"That ends my turn!" Xander concluded.

"Drawing new card!" The robot drew a card. "Activate Remove Trap!" It held up the named spell card. "Remove Trap destroys one face up trap card on the field."

Matt blinked at this. "That robot must have short circuited real badly. There are no face up trap cards on the field." But then he noticed the worried look on Xander's face.

"You're wrong! There is a trap on the field!" He replied and eyed on a certain monster on his field. The giant monster known as...

"Metalhold!" Shiori gasped.

"That's right!" Andrew said grimly. "Even though it's on the field, acting as a monster, it still counts as a trap card!" The giant robot exploded and all that was left on Xander's field was Sergeant Electro.

"Now, sacrificing Command Knight to summon Airknight Parshath in attack mode!" The female warrior disappeared and was replaced by a familiar fairy centaur. (ATK: 1900 DEF: 1400 LV: 5)

"Great. It even has same cards as Jenny." Andrew said sarcastically.

"Airknight Parshath, destroy Sergeant Electro!" The centaur galloped forward and slashed the silver robot.

Xander: 0800-0500

"When Airknight Parshath deals battle damage, an additional card is drawn." The dueling robot drew a card. "Turn complete."

"Now Xander is defenseless again." Matt pointed out.

"And without his Sergeant Electro, that robot is able to use its facedown card again." Shiori added. "Which means, even if Xander manages to bring out something strong enough to take down its monster, it will be too risky for him to attack."

"That doesn't mean it's hopeless." Andrew said optimistically. "Xander can win this."

'I hope you're right, Andrew.' Xander thought worriedly as he drew his next card. "I activate Pot of Avarice. This lets me take five monster cards from my graveyard and shuffle them back into my deck." The monster cards he took from the graveyard were Gold Gadget, Silver Gadget, Green Gadget, Red Gadget and Yellow Gadget. He then shuffled those cards into his deck. "After that, I get to draw two new cards." He drew his extra cards and looked at them. He nodded before playing one of them. "I summon Ancient Gear Box in defense!" The monster that appeared was not an ordinary box. It had a pair of arms and legs and was built with gears and rusty metal, just like any other Ancient Gear monster. The box itself was full of some tools. (ATK: 500 DEF: 2000 LV: 4) "Then I'll activate Dangerous Machine Type-6." A strange slot machine with six slots appeared behind the box. "And that ends my turn."

"What's with that thing?" Matt wondered.

"I don't know, but hopefully it will help him turn this duel around."

"Draw a card!" The robot drew. "Activate Pot of Greed! Drawing two additional cards!" It drew its extra cards. "Sacrificing Airknight Parshath to summon Jinzo!" The centaur disappeared and was replaced by a tall humanoid in dark green suit with a metal mask. (ATK: 2400 DEF: 1500 LV: 6) "Activate equip spell card! Fairy Meteor Crush!" The named spell card appeared behind Jinzo. "Due to its special effect, the equipped monster can deal piercing damage!"

Xander gasped.

"Now Jinzo will attack with Cyber Energy Shock!" Jinzo conjured a ball of energy and threw it at the box, blowing it to pieces.

Xander: 0500-0100

"Activate Amplifier!" An electronic helmet appeared on Jinzo's head. "Amplifier gives my trap cards immunity against Jinzo's special ability! Turn complete!"

"Man, this is really bad." Matt said. "Xander's life points are low, and if that wasn't bad enough, Jinzo can deal piercing damage and keeps him from using trap cards."

"Not to mention that Amplifier makes the robot immune to its special abilities." Shiori added.

"We can't give up yet!" Andrew said. "There's still a chance for Xander to turn this duel around!"

"Make your move" The robot said.

"Fine! My move!" Xander drew, and it was then the six slots started to roll. "This is the effect of Dangerous Machine Type-6! During each of my standby phases, a random number from 1 to 6 is chosen, and depending on the number I get, one of the machine's special effects activates." The slots kept rolling until they all came up a 3. "It's a three! That means I get to draw an extra card!" Xander drew his next card and looked at it. He smirked at what he got. "Perfect!"

That made his friends look at him curiously.

"I activate the spell card, Ancient Gear Workshop! This lets me take an Ancient Gear monster from my graveyard and add it to my hand, like Ancient Gear Box." Xander held up the card in question. "And this activates its special ability. When I add this card from my deck or graveyard to my add without drawing it, I can add an earth machine type monster from my deck to my hand, so long its attack or defense points are 500, and I know just the one..." He fanned out his deck and took the card he wanted. "Ancient Gear Cannon!" The robotic gun turret with several gears appeared. (ATK: 500 DEF: 500 LV: 2) "Then I'll activate the spell card Machine Duplication! By selecting a machine type monster with up to 500 attack points, like my Cannon, I can summon up to two copies of that monster from my deck!" Two more cannons appeared. (ATK: 500 DEF: 500 LV: 2) x2

"But what can those do against Jinzo?" Matt wondered.

"They must do something, considering none of them has enough attack points." Shiori said.

"You bet they can!" Xander replied with a smirk. "Ancient Gear Cannon has a special ability. By sacrificing it, I can deal 500 points of damage!"

Andrew's eyes widened realization. "And since the robot's got 1400 life points, the total damage from all three cannons..." He said with a smile.

"Is more than enough to finish this!" Xander filled in. "Now fire!" The cannons fired some shots at the robot. They didn't hurt it, but its head suddenly sparked with electricity.

"DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE!" And then, it collapsed as its one eye stopped glowing.

Robot: 1400-0000

Xander sighed in relief as the holograms disappeared.

"Nice one, Xander!" Andrew congratulated.

"You gave that tin can a total crash." Matt said jokingly.

"Thanks."

"So what do we do about that thing?" Shiori asked, glancing at the downed robot.

The mechanic approached it. "Well, judging from its behavior, I believe its AI is messed up. I think that can be fixed. I just..."

"ERROR! ERROR!" The robot exclaimed and suddenly got on its feet.

"Whoa!" Xander yelped and stepped back, while the others were just as shocked.

"ERROR! ERROR! ERROR!" It kept repeating like that while flailing wildly. And then... it collapsed again, without another word.

"What the hell just happened?" Shiori asked.

"No clue." Matt replied.

"I may not understand machines so much..." Andrew said. "But it's clear that this robot is dangerous."
