Get Yarr Game on!

Another day on Academy Island, and it was peaceful around here. Or at the very least, it started peacefully, until Jaden had to deal with something in the cafeteria of the Slifer Red Dorm.

"AAAAH! YOU DID WHAT!? SO THEN, WHERE AM I GONNA SLEEP!?"

All the other Slifers turned to Syrus, who screamed very loudly, clearly very upset about something Jaden did.

"I'm sorry. I guess in all the excitement, I... didn't think about that."

"EXCITEMENT!?" Syrus screamed. "YOU TRADED MY BED FOR A CARD!"

"Whoa! Seriously!?" Matt overheard.

And so did Xander, who frowned at the brown-haired Slifer. "Jaden, that's not to be excited about!"

"But I got it for Syrus!" Jaden argued and turned to the small, blue-haired Slifer. "Isn't your birthday next week?"

"IT WAS LAST TUESDAY!" Syrus cried out, visibly annoyed and ticked off. "And I'm surprised I made it with everything you've put me through this year! I might need a new roommate!"

"Don't say that! I'm really sorry, Syrus!" Jaden smiled and put his hands together as a sign of hopeful forgiveness. "I promise I'll be the best roommate from now on."

"What't this? Trouble in paradise?"

Syrus turned and glared Chazz, who seemed to be smirking at their argument. "Hey! It's private!"

"Come on, it's just Chazz." Jaden said. "We share everything... you know, like dessert."

"Yeah right, Slifer Slacker! Keep dreaming!" Chazz said, grabbing his plate, holding it behind him.

"Okay... then can I have your corndogs too, and your mashed potatoes?"

"How about asking for a bed while you're at it!?" Syrus asked loudly.

"Don't worry, Syrus. Me and Xander share the same room and have one bed to spare." Matt said.

"Yeah, you can have its mattress." Xander added.

"Can't you let me move in with you instead?"

At that moment, the door of the cafeteria slid open, letting Chumley enter with a confused yet worried look on his face. "Guys? Anyone order a sub? Cuz there'e one parked outside."

"Say what?" Jaden asked, surprised

Over at the island's docks, many students gathered around a submarine that was parked there, just like Chumley said. And on top of it, stood a fat man wearing a sailor's garb, glasses and a captain's hat. "Avast, ye landlubbers!" He spoke into a microphone. "I be the Admiral!" The students clamped their ears as a high-pitched sound echoed around the docks.

Just like the others, Jaden winced at the sound. "Who is he, like a pirate or something!?" He yelled over the noise.

"Ye scallawags never laid your ears on the tales of the Admiral?!" The large man yelled into his microphone. "Scourge of the Seven Seas!?"

"Uh yeah, I'm thinking he's a pirate." Alexis commented.

"But with a submarine?" Andrew questioned. "That's a first."

"Or maybe he's just crazy." Jenny added.

"I set sail to challenge one of ye to a duel!" Everyone held their ears as the high-pitched sound flared again. "The bilge rat known as Jaden Yuki!"

Bastion and Alexis looked up at the man in surprise. "Is he-"

"A Shadow Rider!" Jaden finished for them.

"Show yourself, Jaden!" The Admiral shouted into the microphone, causing the annoying sound to pop up again. "Where ye be!?"

"Ye be here!" Jaden stepped forward. "And aren't you just a little old to be playing dress up?"

"Why, I'll keelhaul ya poopdeck! At arms, ye scurvy dog! We be dueling! Get yarr game on!"

"Now?" Jaden asked, surprised.

"No, next week." Bastion said sarcastically.

"This should be good." Chazz cracked.

Once again, the high-pitched echoed around the docks, causing everyone to flinch and cover their ears. "Let's go, ye drivel swigged! Ye best come aboard!" The Admiral cried. "If not, I be tyin' yer mates to the port for Davy Jones!"

Jaden grit his teeth at this and started to walk to a small boat that lay in the water nearby.

"Jaden, hold up!" Alexis called after him. "If this is a Shadow Game, no way we're letting you go all alone, I'm coming with."

"Me too." Jenny pitched in.

"Same here." Andrew said. "

Jaden stopped in his tracks. "I don't know. Syrus had a point. In all my duels lately, my friends always end up in danger."

"Jaden, we're in this together." Alexis reminded him.

"Right. I'm with you too." Bastion agreed, walking up beside her.

"Ha, just wish I had a parrot." Chazz said as he joined them. "Or an eye-patch."

"Besides, you're going to need backup." Andrew said.

"That settles it." Alexis confirmed.

"Well..." Jaden began, but was interrupted by the high-pitched sound, him and all the others covering their ears.

"I'll scuttle the likes of ye, lessen ye come aboard!" The Admiral yelled impatiently.

"So..." Jaden turned to his roommate. "Syrus? Are you gonna come?"

"How about it, Sy?" Chumley asked. But the smaller Slifer merely looked away with a downcast look on his face, giving Jaden his answer.

With that, Jaden and the others hopped into the small boat near the docks and headed towards the large submarine, where a large crane reached down, grabbing a hold of the boat and pulling out of the water, setting them down on the roof of the sub, where they went through one entrance, while the Admiral sank into his own entrance.

"High-tech for a pirate." Bastion said. "I'm beginning to think this Admiral is less buccaneer and more financier." They all stepped out of the boat and were taken to a control room, where they could see a big dueling arena at the front of the vessel itself. "How else could he afford a submarine, or a... submerged duel arena?"

"How loaded is he?" Andrew wondered astonished.

"Whoa!" Jaden exclaimed. "Check it out. Talk about shiver me timbers."

"That was strange coming out of you." Jenny noted.

"Tis bein a fine ship." The Admiral said proudly. "But now let's weigh anchor and duel, ya filthy powder monkey!"

A bit later, Jaden and the Admiral were standing on a platform at opposite ends from each other, with a walkway in-between. The walls were a large glass sphere, which showed the ocean floor and the water all around them. "Wish yer mates farewell. Ye ain't be seeing them again!" The Admiral said, laughing as he prepared a custom duel disk with a handful of incredible looking gems and gold lacings around the edges.

"What're you waiting for, Admiral?" Jaden asked. "We gonna duel, or walk the plank?"

"Walk the plank on a submarine?" Chazz asked incredulously, as he and the others watched from the control room. "How about open the window too?"

"How about he starts to concentrate?" Bastion snapped lightly. "That Admiral's raring to go."

"With this submarine and the pirate act, it's very clear what kind of deck he'll be using." Andrew commented, earning a nod from Jenny

The two duelists inserted their decks into their duel disks.

"DUEL!"

Jaden: 4000

Admiral: 4000

"Arr this!" Jaden said, drawing his sixth card. "I summon Elemental HERO Wildheart in defense mode!" The muscular tribal hero appeared and crossed his arms. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1600 LV: 4) At that moment, the whole place went dark. "Should've guessed you'd turn off all the lights. It is a Shadow Game!"

"A shadow game?" The Admiral replied, looking confused.

"What's it for? My soul? My key?"

"What ye be speaking, you yellow linny livered swabby?"

"You know what I mean! What's your Shadow sham gonna be!?" Jaden demanded. "Are ye gonna turn me into a doll, or maybe suck me into some magic card!?"

"What? I mean what ye tongue be spouting?"

"Shadow Game, remember!?"

"Tis no shadow game!"

"But what about my key!?"

"Key? What key?"

"The key that..." Jaden stopped and the two duelists stared at each other for a few moments. "Wait a sec... Okay, you are trying to unlock the spirit gates, right... aren't you?"

"Why ye scrubby swine!" The Admiral yelled angrily. "I no Shadow Rider! And I'll prove it!" At his order, the submarine rose from the murky depths of the ocean and reached the water's surface.

Unfortunately, that was a bit too shaky for the gang in the control room.

"I think... I'm gonna be sick." Chazz moaned.

"Good thing I had a light breakfast." Andrew commented, laying on the floor with a grimace.

"I'll say..." Jenny added as she and Alexis were getting up.

"This guy sure knows his sailing." Alexis commented. "Guess he's really not a Shadow Rider."

"Wait. If this isn't a Shadow Game, how did he shroud the duel arena in darkness?" Bastion questioned. "Would someone care to explain that?"

One of the sailors went over to one of the consoles and pressed the intercom button as the lights came back on again. "Sir, we fixed the lights in the arena." The academy students fell over at the revelation.

"Se, me mate? I'm an Ocean Rider, not some son of a sprawn Shadow Rider!"

Jaden smiled sheepishly. "Hey, whatever you say, Cappy."

"I be an Admiral! And now, let's duel!" The Admiral drew his sixth card.

"Sure! If that's an order, Admiral!" Jaden cracked.

"Ye well know it was!" The Admiral shouted as his field spell tray opened up. "And now, prepare to taste the briny deep with this: A Legendary Ocean!" After a moment, the surroundings changed so that the duelists were in an underwater realm with large stone ruins.

This change of scenery caused Jaden to panic and hold his hands to his throat. "I can't breathe!"

"Jaden! You do realize that you're not drowning!" Bastion spoke through the intercom. "It's just a hologram!"

The Slifer calmed down and smiled sheepishly. "Oh yeah. Maybe they'll throw in some holographic lobsters for lunch."

The Admiral smirked. "Will ye think it'd be a grand laugh... when me sea monsters rip ye limb from limb, matey?"

"That's right!" Jenny gasped. "The ocean card! It reduces the summoning levels of all water monsters by one level!"

"That's right, meaning I can play Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness without a sacrifice, and I be doin' just that!" A giant black and white orca with mechanical features on its back and a large cannon in its mouth rose up right behind the Admiral. "But don't ye forget, me sea monsters be getting an extra bounty of 200 points for attacking and defending!" (ATK: 2100-2300 DEF: 1200-1400 LV: 5-4) "Now, Orca Mega-Fortress, scuttle Wildheart! That means attack, ye swab!" The giant orca reared its head back and fired a blast from the cannon in its mouth, obliterating the tribal hero.

"I be expecting more from ye, Jaden..."

"Huh?"

"It be true. I know who ye be! Yer deck, yer victories..." The Admiral took a card from his hand. "Oh yes, I've studied ye like a map. A map with a handsome treasure, which is why I came to find ye!" He inserted a card into his duel disk. "Oh, and I lay this facedown..."

"Me? Why?" Jaden asked and drew his next card. "And while you think about that, I summon Elemental HERO Avian in defense mode!" The green, feather winged hero appeared. (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 LV: 3) "And I'll be throwing down a facedown." A card appeared behind the hero monster. "So, what's so important about me? Hm? Why'd you go through all this trouble?"

The fat sailor smiled. "Well lad, listen. The Admiral's to be building a new Duel Academy at the bottom of the briny deep. Watta ye think?

"Well... uh."

"But, there be a hitch. He still needs a first mate. A mate who be grand... a mate like ye!" He pointed at Jaden. "And ye'll help me run it, ye swab!"

"Me?" Jaden pointed at himself.

"Not Jaden!" Alexis protested. "He can't leave us!"

"Why not? It is an amazing opportunity." Bastion pointed out.

Chazz turned and glanced at the monitors. "Good! Maybe now I'll get a new room."

"In case you have forgotten, Jaden is one of the key keepers." Andrew reminded him. "Letting him leave would be a big problem."

"Yeah... right."

"You really are concerned about Jaden, aren't you?" Jenny noted.

"Of course I am!" Alexis replied. "It's like Andrew said, we need him to protect the Sacred Beast cards."

"Are you sure there's no other reasons you're worried about him?" Jenny added with a smirk.

"What other reason would there be!?" Alexis shot back, blushing slightly in embarrassment.

"Jaden! Ye be the finest duelist on the seven seas!" The Admiral continued. "I want ye to teach with me! Ye'd be great!"

"It's true." Jaden grinned and scratched the back of his head. "I mean, I have taught Chazz a few things." Unbeknownst to him, the black clad Slifer in question growled at his words from the control.

"Then yer in! Welcome aboard!"

Jaden stared at him in shock. "But I was... joking."

"Were ye!? Well then what say ye to a friendly wager? Tween mates?"

Jaden seemed to think about it.

"Jaden." Alexis murmured.

"It's a trap!" Bastion cried.

"Who cares? Good riddance." Chazz scoffed.

"Chazz!" Jenny glared at him.

"He won't do it." Andrew said.

"Forget it!" Jaden answered.

"I ain't be asking ye, I be telling ye! The duel has begun, and the wages be backed by both. If ye win, I be letting ye and yer mates go free. But if not, ye leave Duel Academy and join me!"

"What?" Jaden and his friends gasped in surprise.

The Admiral laughed at this. "My turn!" He drew. "And, I play me facedown card..." His facedown card flipped up. "A trap known as Cursed Waters Level 3!"

"Wicked name, but what does it do?" Jaden asked curiously.

"It be lettin' me summon monsters from the deep, whose levels total 3!" The sailor explained while taking two cards from his hand. "And me be summonin' Torpedo Fish and Cannonball Spear Shellfish!" The first monster that appeared on the Admiral's field was a green fish shaped torpedo aiming itself at Jaden. (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 LV: 3) And the second was a mollusk inside a steel drill. (ATK: 1000 DEF: 1000 LV: 2)

"Brilliant." Bastion said. "Normally, the levels of those two monsters would combine for a total of 5. But not so. Thanks to the card, A Legendary Ocean, both of their levels decreased by 1, resulting in a total of 3... clever."

"True, but with Umi, or in this case, A Legendary Ocean on the field, their special abilities make them immune to spell cards." Andrew added. "Which means, those two won't get extra points, now when they're on the field."

"And now, I be activatin' the special ability of the fierce Orca of Darkness! By sending one of me beasts to Davy Jones, so me can scuttle your facedown!"

Jaden watched as the Cannonball Spear Shellfish appeared above the giant orca and shot through the holo-water like a bullet, piercing through his facedown Mirror Gate card, destroying it easily.

"There be more. I be bidding adieu to me Fish to make your green feathered fellow walk on the multinous plank!" Much like the Spear Shellfish, Torpedo Fish swam fast and hard into Avian, blowing him to pieces.

The Admiral laughed. "Now, me Orca has a clear line of sight! FIRE!"

The huge wale fired off another blast of fiery energy that struck Jaden directly in the chest, knocking him off his feet and flipping him over.

Jaden: 4000-1700

Jaden rubbed his jaw and climbed to his feet. "Not bad... haven't gotten that wet since that walrus show at Sea Land."

"Tis no theme park!"

"Well, it could be... it just needs some rides." Jaden drew his next card, looked at it and revealed. "Maybe... something like this! Just watch as Polymerization, takes Clayman and Sparkman for a spin to make Elemental HERO Thunder Giant!" The stone hero merged with the blue and golden, electric hero and formed the yellow, giant electric hero. (ATK: 2400 DEF: 1500 LV: 6)

The Admiral didn't look impressed by the fusion monster. "Is that the best that ye got, mate? Even if that yella belled gizzard keelhauls me Orca, me only take a mere 100 points of damage, you salty swab."

Jaden smirked, wagging his finger. "You missed the boat, Admiral. Let me fill ya in. When I summon my Thunder Giant, he automatically destroys one monster with less atttack points than he has."

"How that be!?" The Admiral questioned.

"I read the card." Jaden said nonchalantly. "Now, Thunder Giant, let's reel that whale in! Static Blast!" The electric hero a stream of electricity at the Orca, hitting it dead on in the face. The giant whale moaned before blowing apart, knocking the Admiral off his feet.

"Well, that's why they're endangered." Bastion commented.

Jenny glanced at him and raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"And now Thunder Giant attacks you directly! Voltic Thunder!"

Just as the Admiral got back on his feet, he was zapped by Thunder Giant's lightning attack. "Shiver me timbers!" He cried out before falling over on his side, smoking a little.

Admiral: 4000-1600

"And I'll throw down a couple of facedowns." Jaden concluded and inserted two cards into his duel disk. "It's your move."

The Admiral looked at Jaden, smiling slightly. "Perchance a deal?" He proposed and flipped over onto his feet(Despite his figure). "We maroon this duel here and now, and you come work for me for a thousand doubloons!"

"How much!?" Chazz asked.

"That's over a million dollars!" Bastion added.

"That is a lot of booty..." Alexis noted.

"I beg your pardon?" Bastion asked.

"Money, Bastion... Money..." Jenny added.

"Ahoy. What say ye, Jaden?" The Admiral asked while rubbing his hands. "Do ye want to be rich?"

"Nope."

Again, everyone in the control room fell over at Jaden's blunt answer.

"Wow! I never thought Jaden would turn that much down so quickly." Andrew commented.

"Don't you get it? I don't care about the money." Jaden explained.

"Oh no? Then what have ye, back at Duel Academy, ye swab? Yer mate Syrus doesn't want ye."

"Oh wow, the Admiral... did his homework." Chazz noted.

"Syrus?" Alexis asked. "What happened?"

Bastion looked at her. "From what I gathered, he and Jaden... had a bit of a falling out, which is why... Syrus didn't come with us."

"Long story short: Jaden traded Syrus' bed for a card." Andrew added.

"Really!?" Jenny asked in shock. "No wonder Syrus is mad..."

"Mull it over whilst we duel." The Admiral spoke up as he drew. "But remember, if I win, ye'd be mine either way! And now, me play this: The Shallow Grave!" A spell card appeared. "Here's how the card works: we search our graveyards and find a beast we want, then summon it in defense mode." The Admiral reached down and took a card from his graveyard slot. "Think I'll be choosin' the terror of the Seven Seas, the Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness!" The giant armed orca appeared once again on the field. (ATK: 2100-2300 DEF: 1200-1400 LV: 5-4)

"And I'll bring back Clayman!" Jaden declared as his large stone hero appeared and crossed his arms. (ATK: 800 DEF: 2000 LV: 4)

"But, before yer Thunder Giant makes quick work of me Orca, I be tellin' ye he's just a sacrifice! So hold onto your britches, for there be another monster..."

"Uh oh."

"... and he be called Levia-Dragon - Daedalus!" The orca disappeared before a huge blue sea-serpent with red spikes and fins took its place. It roared, showing a mouthful of sharp teeth. (ATK: 2600-2800 DEF: 1500-1700 LV: 7-6)

"Whoa! Nice fish." Jaden said. "Does it bite?"

"Ye best be worried about his special ability." The Admiral replied as he slid his field spell into the graveyard slot, causing the water scenery disappear. (ATK: 2800-2600 DEF: 1700-1500 LV: 6-7) "By sending the Legendary Ocean to the graveyard, the whole lot of cards on this here field of war, meets a dastardly end!"

"Before it's too late, I'll use Emergency Provisions!" One of Jaden's facedown cards flipped up. "I just kick a trap or spell card over to the graveyard, and my life points get a big 1-triple-0." His other facedown card disappeared.

Jaden: 1700-2700

"Tis do no matter as your cards are going the way of Davy Jones!" The sea-serpent shot out a purple energy beam from its maw, obliterating Jaden's monsters. "Ramparts be down! Fire all forward battery! In order words, attack!" The sea serpent another beam of energy, this one blue, which hit Jaden directly, causing him to cry out and fall to his knees.

Jaden: 2700-0100

"He's done." Chazz muttered as the others gasped.

"Jaden." Alexis said worriedly

"Ye be my treasure now! Ya'rr be finished! Tis nothing you can do to stop me monster!"

Jaden rose up. "Well, we'll just see about that. I still got one draw left... mate." He paused as he prepared to draw. 'It's all or nothing.'

"Here we go..." He then drew. "Alright, and I..."

"You what?" Chazz asked.

"What is it?" Jenny wondered.

"Pressure's too much!" Bastion said.

"Come on, Jaden." Andrew muttered.

"I special summon... Elemental HERO Bubbleman!" The blue armored, caped water appeared in front of Jaden. (ATK: 800 DEF: 1200 LV: 4)

"What be so special?" The Admiral questioned.

"I'll tell ya. Bubbleman hates being alone. So if he's the last card in my hand, I get to special summon him automatically. And if he's the only card on the field when he makes his big appearance, I get to draw two more cards from my deck."

"Blast!"

"Oh, and Admiral? I'm not done yet!" Jaden drew his two cards. "I now activate Pot of Greed. That gives me two more cards."

"Ye swine!"

"Then I'll play this guy." Jaden held up a spell card. "The Warrior Returning Alive brings back one warrior monster from... my graveyard!"

"I'll be hornswoggled!" The Admiral cried out.

"Welcome back, Sparkman!" The blue and golden hero appeared. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1400 LV: 4) "There's more..." Jaden said took another card from his hand. "I play the spell, Metamorphosis! All I gotta do is sacrifice one of my monsters, and I get to summon a fusion monster of the same level. Say hello to... Elemental HERO Neo Bubbleman!" The water hero's outfit changed a bit. His cape became a pair of fins and he's got similar fins on his wrists and helmet. (ATK: 800 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "Then I'll play this: the equip spell, Bubble Blaster, for a sweet bonus of 800 attack points!" The famiilar bazooka appeared on Bubbleman's right shoulder. (ATK: 800-1600) "Neo, turn that fish into a sushi special! Bubble Slamming Stream!"

The water hero fired a powerful blast of high-pressured water at Levia-Dragon. But at the end of the blast, the sea-serpent was still standing, making the Admiral laugh a little. "Ye daft? Me sea monster has more points than yer Bubble-boy! Try again, ye salty swab!"

Jaden shrugged slightly. "Well... ok, if you really insist."

That made the sailor confused. "What?"

"Oh yeah, just check it, Admiral. By sacrificing my Bubble Blaster, I reduce your damage to 0." The bazooka disappeared. (ATK: 1600-800) And Neo Bubbleman started to glow with a blue aura. "And Neo Bubbleman has a surprise of his own. See, after damage is dealt, your dragon... goes boom!"

"WHAAAT!?" The Admiral exclaimed.

"Oh yeah! Sweet effect, don't you think?" Jaden asked as the sea-serpent was engulfed with a bright light, before it exploded. "And Admiral? You haven't forgotten about my Sparkman, have you?" The Admiral flinched at that. "Sparkman, shiver his timbers! Static Shockwave!" The named monster fired a stream of electricity from his hand, and zapped the Admiral until an explosion occurred, sending him flying over to Jaden's side of the field.

Admiral: 1600-0000

"That's game." Jaden said, giving him his trademark pose.

'Arr... I might have been bested in this here duel, but tharr be another way to catchy this wily fish, Jaden!' The Admiral thought to himself with a smirk as he lay down on Jaden's field.

"What do you mean left?" Jaden asked as he and the Admiral entered the control room, where Andrew and the others were missing.

"They took the first and only dinghy home."

"So Im stuck?"

"Yeah, I fear it be true."

"But..."

"See for yourself." The Admiral said, pointing to the monitors, which showed his friends going off in the boat that had brought them to the sub.

Jaden gulped at this. "So what now... uh, Admiral?"

"Now ye begin yer new life under the sea, Jaden! Sheets to the wind, we be makin' way to me first mate's new home!"

Back on the docks, Jaden's friends were telling the others everything that happened on the submarine, including how The Admiral told that Jaden changed his mind and decided to leave Duel Academy behind and work with him. "So... he's really gone?" Syrus asked.

"I'm afraid so, Syrus." Alexis said.

"Apparently he decided to accept the offer that the Admiral presented him." Bastion added.

"So is that it?" Chumley asked. "What are we gonna do without Jaden?"

"Somehow, I think I'll manage." Chazz said in his usual tone of voice, walking away.

"I... just can't believe Jaden changed his mind just like that." He muttered and left the docks, followed by Jenny. The others started to go back their own ways, until Syrus was alone.

He was staring at he sea with sad eyes. "Jaden..."

And so, Jaden is gone. What will happen now? Well... we just have to see. Until next time.
