Who am I?

It was early in the morning, when the sun was about to rise. Meaning that everyone at Duel Academy was sleeping. Everyone, except for two people, who were running around the campus. One of them was Andrew, wearing his regular exercise outfit. The other person was Michael. He was wearing a purple t-shirt, white shorts and black running shoes.

"Hey! You doing okay?" Michael asked.

"I'm fine." Andrew replied. "What about you? Are you getting tired?"

The dark duelist smirked. "That's rich! You seem rather slow to me."

Andrew smirked back. He then ran faster, getting ahead of him. "Are you sure you're not talking about yourself?"

"Just you wait!" Michael picked up the pace. And so, the two boys were racing all around the place. They were evenly matched as they ran through the forest. "I got ya!"

"No you don't!" This kept on as they reached the edge of a cliff. But they were so focused on their race that neither of them noticed the mud on the ground.

And unfortunately, Michael was the first to step into it and slip. "Whoa!" He lost his balance and accidentally pushed Andrew, causing him to slide.

"Ah! Whoa!" He was sliding uncontrollably towards the edge. And then... "AAAAHHH!" He fell.

Michael gasped in horror before he heard a thud. He ran over to the edge and looked down. He saw Andrew laying on a rock, clearly unconscious. "Oh no! Andrew!"

Right after seeing his friend's state, Michael quickly called Ms Fontaine. And as soon as she heard what happened, Andrew was quickly taken to the Nurse's office so she could treat him. And eventually, he was currently resting in a bed, with bandages wrapped around his head. Apparently, he hit his head really hard by the fall.

The first of the other friends who got to know were Shiori, Jenny, Alexis and Clover. Of course, the redhead wasn't exactly pleased by Michael's story...

"YOU DID WHAT!?" She exclaimed angrily.

"Who there! Take it easy! As I was saying..." Michael tried to explain, but was interrupted her

"You pushed him off the edge!"

"Hey! Calm down, Clover!" Jenny scolded.

"Yeah, what she said!" Shiori added. "He just told us it was an accident!"

"Just take deep breaths and be glad that he's okay." Alexis told her.

Clover stared at Michael angrily for a short moment before she closed her, inhaled slowly and exhaled. "Fine. I'm sorry."

Ms. Fontaine came out of the infirmary. "You don't need to worry." She assured them. "Andrew is just unconscious. Just let him rest and he'll eventually wake up."

"That's good to hear." Michael replied.

But then, she gave him a stern look. "He's lucky that the wound in his head didn't get worse. Next time you two are out and running in the morning, watch your step."

"Yes, Ms. Fontaine."

After that, they left the infirmary so Andrew could rest. They went to class as usual. Though, those who didn't hear about the accident were curious about Andrew's absence. Later that day, Jaden, Syrus and Chumley were walking around with Shiori as he explained what happened.

"Whoa! For real?" Jaden asked in shock.

"Yeah. That's what really happened." Shiori replied.

"Aw man. That must have really hurt." Syrus commented.

"Totally." Chumley agreed.

"I just hope he gets better soon." The ritual duelist said.

"There's no doubt he will. Andrew's tough as nails." Jaden said confidently. "I know! Let's go visit him and see if he's awake."

"Good idea!" Syrus and Chumley said in unison.

"I guess it won't hurt." Shiori replied as they headed to the infirmary.

"Nnngh." Andrew moaned in his sleep. His eyes stirred before they opened. "Where... am I?" He then got up in a sitting position and looked around.

He then heard the doors open and saw Shiori and the others enter. They smiled when they saw him awake.

"Hey, glad that you're awake." Shiori said.

"How are you feeling, buddy?" Jaden asked.

Andrew was staring at them quietly for a long moment, making them slightly concerned. Finally, he gave them a confused look and...

"I'm sorry, but... who are you people?"

"..." They blinked.

"And..." Andrew looked down at himself. "Who am I?"

They stood there in silence.

"..."

"HUH!?"

"WHAT!? Amnesia!?" Jenny and Clover exclaimed in unison.

"I don't want to believe it either." Shiori replied. After visiting Andrew, the guys quickly left and explained his state to the girls, plus Michael. "But it seems that Andrew hit his head so hard, that he lost his memories. He doesn't even remember who he is."

Michael looked really guilty. "Damn. I really messed up there."

"It was all an accident, Michael." Alexis reminded him. "Don't be so hard on yourself."

"So then... he really does have amnesia?" Clover asked slowly.

"Yeah." Syrus nodded. "Poor Andrew. I can't believe he lost his memories."

"Nah, it's cool." Jaden said nonchalantly, surprising his friends.

"Cool?" Chumley repeated. "Jaden, how is it cool that Andrew's memories are gonzo?"

"It's not. What I mean is that we shouldn't worry about it too much. We just have to get Andrew remember everything again."

"And how are we supposed to do that?" Michael asked skeptically.

"Well, we can show him around the Academy, talk about the old days, anything that might jog his memory."

Jenny looked thoughtful. "We should try at least. He really needs our help."

"Fine by me." Clover agreed.

"Right." Alexis nodded.

"Then let's do this!" Jaden declared with a confident grin.

Andrew was sitting on the infirmary bed, still trying to remember something. He tried hard but nothing came to him. He sighed in frustration. "Just who am I?"

At that moment, the door opened as the others entered. "Hey. You feeling good?" Michael asked.

"I'm fine, I guess." Andrew replied.

"So? Do you remember anything?" Jaden asked.

Andrew shook. "Nothing at all."

The gang frowned. Alexis was the first to approach him. "Then let's see if we can help you remember. We'll start with you. Your name is Andrew Wilson."

"Andrew... Wilson...?"

"Yeah. Does that name ring a bell?" Syrus asked.

Andrew thought of it really hard. It took him a moment before he sighed. "No, it doesn't."

"Then let's see if you remember us." Jaden suggested. "My name is Jaden Yuki."

Andrew stared at him for a moment. "Sorry, but I don't remember." That earned him a childish pout from the Slifer.

"My name is Shiori Koizumi." The ritual duelist said.

Andrew gave him the same look before shaking his head. "I don't remember you either." That earned him a sigh from his fellow Ra.

Clover decided to try. "But there must be a chance you remember me. I'm Clover Penn, and I'm your best friend."

"Best friend?" Andrew repeated.

"That's right. You and I have known each other since we were kids. Does that sound familiar to you?"

Andrew stared at her. He tried his best to remember. "I... I..." His eyes widened slowly.

Clover really hoped that she reached him...

But Andrew slumped his shoulders. "I don't remember."

Clover gave him a disbelieved look. "Not even a little?"

"No. When I'm looking at you, it feels like I've seen you before, but..." Andrew clutched his head. "I... just can't..." He then felt a hand on his right shoulder. He turned to the person the hand belonged to, which was Jenny.

"Take it easy. You don't have to force yourself. Just give it some time, and you'll remember eventually."

"She's right." Alexis added. "You just need to take it slow. How about we walk around the school? You might recognize something on the way."

Andrew pondered for a moment and nodded. "Okay. I hope I will."

"Alright then. Let's go!" Jaden declared.

With that, they were now walking through the hallway. Some other students passed by. Andrew glanced back and forth as they walked.

"Well? Does anything you see here bring up memories?" Jaden asked.

"No. Nothing in particular so far." Andrew replied. "This seems familiar, but nothing comes back to me."

"Then we should try some places we always visit." Shiori suggested. "And the first stop is..."

"The Ra Yellow dorm!" Shiori said as the gang found themselves inside Andrew's dorm room. "And this is where you sleep."

"Is that so?" Andrew asked as he looked around.

"So do you remember anything here?" Syrus asked.

Andrew didn't answer immediately. He went through his dorm room. From the desk to the bed. When he was done, he turned to the others and shook his head. "No, I'm afraid not."

"Well that's not lishus." Chumley replied.

"Then let's try telling you a little about this place." Shiori said. "You always go out to do some exercise early in the morning..."

Flashback

Shiori just got up from his bed and yawned a little. When he looked to the window, he saw Andrew head back inside.

"And sometimes, we run into each other when you return. And of course, you always come back thirsty."

Andrew just got inside, panting a little. He was then greeted by Shiori, who held up a glass of water for him. Andrew smiled and took it.

Flashback end

"Does that bring some memories back?" Shiori asked.

Andrew closed his eyes and concentrated. After what felt like minutes, he opened his eyes and frowned. "No. There's still nothing."

"Great." Shiori sighed.

"So what now?" Michael wondered.

"We'll keep trying." Jaden replied. "And I know where we should visit next..."

"The card shop!" The gang were standing at the entrance, seeing some other students. They were either buying cards, trading cards, or just chatting.

"The card shop?" Andrew repeated.

"Yup! We always spend some time here whenever we wanted to get some new cards..."

Flashback

Jaden, Andrew, Shiori, Syrus and Chumley were sitting at table together. They opened some booster packs and looked over the cards they got. They even traded a few with each other.

"And on Sandwich Day, we test our luck to get the golden eggwich." Jaden, Andrew, Jenny, Alexis and Michael were standing at the sandwich bin. Jaden took a sandwich, tore open the package and took a bite. And by a mere second, he grimaced as his face turned green. The others laughed at this.

Flashback end

Once again, Andrew closed his eyes and concentrated.

"Well? Did that story help?" Jaden asked.

"Hmmm..." It took a moment before Andrew spoke up. "I..." He trailed off, as if waiting for something to click, which Jaden also did. But then, he sighed. "...don't think so." And that caused Jaden to fall over.

"Is there anything we can do to make him remember?" Syrus wondered.

"Well we can't give up just yet." Clover said as she approached Andrew. "I know I won't give up on you. Especially after everything we've been through."

"I wish I could remember." He said, looking down.

Clover placed a hand on his shoulder, getting his attention. "Then let me tell you something from our childhood. There was one time when I lost one of my Duel Monster cards, and you went through a lot to get it back."

"I did?"

The redhead nodded. "You certainly did." She then held up the card in question. It was Buster Blader. "It all happened 5 years ago. But I remember it like it was yesterday..."

Flashback

Andrew and Clover (10 years old) were sitting on a bench at the Domino Plaza. They were looking over some cards they had laid out.

"These cards are looking good." Andrew commented.

"I know, right?" Clover replied. "Our decks are gonna get some extra kick from these."

And that moment, the two friends felt a breeze, causing the cards to move. "Oh! Its getting windy." Andrew noted.

"Better gather the cards." Clover said. And they did just that. Clover was about to pick up one more, when the wind suddenly got stronger and blew it away. "Ah! My Buster Blader!"

"I'll get it!" Andrew declared as he chased the card, with Clover right behind him. The chase went through some places of the city. At one part, Andrew almost had the card, but a stray cat got in the way and he tripped on it. When the card got stuck at a tree, Andrew immediately climbed up and reached out to it. Unfortunately, the card was right next a bird nest, so at the moment he grabbed the card, an angry bird mother pecked his hand, causing him to yelp and lose his grip. And thus, the wind carried the card away again.

"Because of that wind, we chased it everywhere." Clover said. "And it was then we arrived at the docks."

Andrew and Clover stopped running when they arrived at the place. Clover was the first one to find her card. It was laying at the edge of one of the bridges. "There it is!" She quickly approached it, but before she could even bend down, the wind decided to strike again and lift the card away. "Ah!" In a panic she tried to catch it. But as she reached out for it, she was standing right at the edge and started to lose her balance.

"Clover!" Andrew ran over to her and pushed her back. But..." Whoa!" He slipped and fell over.

SPLASH!

"Andrew!" Clover called out as she looked down to the water. It was then she saw a hand sticking out of the water. And it was holding her Buster Blader card! "My card!"

And then, Andrew himself popped out of the water. He coughed a little before giving her a smile. "Don't worry, Clover. I got it."

Clover gave him an amused look.

Flashback end

"And that's what happened." Clover said, finishing her story.

"Whoa!" Chumley said as he and Syrus were in awe of that story.

"Now that's sweet." Jaden commented.

"So then. Did that help?" Clover asked hopefully.

And Andrew closed his eyes one more time and concentrated. "Hmmm." As he concentrated, the others looked at him patiently. "I think... something's coming to me."

"What is it?" Shiori asked.

"It's..." Andrew trailed off a faint image appeared in his mind. "It's a person standing in front of me. They're... holding out a card for me."

"And?" Clover urged.

"And..." Andrew tried to think. And after a while, he sighed. "Sorry, but I don't remember anything else."

That was disappointing for his friends. Clover being taking the hardest since she had an idea what that faint memory was.

"That ain't much." Chumley stated.

"But at least we're getting somewhere." Jaden replied.

"About that card you mentioned..." Alexis said. "Do you remember what it was?"

"I'm not sure." Andrew said as his hand suddenly reached for his deck holder. He then opened it and picked out his deck. "I can't really remember what card it was, but I know it was something familiar." As he spoke, he looked through his deck. He stopped when a certain card was in sight. "Zombina... Ah!" He clutched his head with his free hand and closed his eyes real hard.

"Andrew?" Jenny asked worriedly.

He didn't answer her. He just stood there as something in his mind clicked. He saw small faint images. He couldn't tell the details, but it looked like he was... dueling.

"(Gasp!)" He panted after finally opening his eyes.

"Are you okay?" Michael asked.

"Sorry about that." Andrew replied. "I think something clicked on."

"You mean you remembered something?" Clover asked.

"Yeah, but it was hardly anything. There were actually... fragments of my memories. They were all about me dueling..." Andrew trailed off, staring at his deck.

"Dueling, huh?" Jaden muttered. And it was at that moment a light bulb lit up in his head. "Oh! I know!" He exclaimed, surprising the others.

"What is it, Jay?" Syrus asked.

"I just got a sweet idea! Maybe we can make Andrew remember everything if one us duel him!"

"Duel him?" Jenny repeated.

"Do you really think that will work?" Clover asked skeptically.

"Why not? If he has a few memories of him dueling, then he should at least remember how to duel, right?" Jaden asked, turning to Andrew.

He closed his eyes in thought. "Hmm. For some reason..." He opened his eyes. "Yeah, I think I do."

"Then let's get our game on!" Jaden urged.

Many of the others seemed skeptical. But Michael just shrugged. "I guess we could give it a try. All right then, let's go so we can get started."

With that, they left the card shop and headed to the Ra Yellow building, were Michael and Andrew facing each other with their duel disks ready. The others were watching on the sidelines. Jaden was pouting like a kid. "Aw, I wanted a crack at him."

"Stop complaining." Clover responded. "Be glad that we're going on with your idea."

"But do you really think a duel can jog Andrew's memories?" Syrus asked.

"I don't know, but we gotta try something. I just want him to remember everything again." Jenny replied with concern in her voice.

"Then let's hope this works." Alexis said.

"Okay. Are you ready?" Michael asked.

"I think so." Andrew replied.

"Then let's duel!" The Obelisk boy declared as he drew his opening hand. And so did Andrew.

Andrew: 4000

Michael: 4000

"I know you said you remember the rules, but I think I should make the first move. Letting you see what I'm doing can make you get a hang on it. You cool with that?"

"Okay." Andrew nodded.

"In that case..." Michael drew his sixth card. "I'll start with this. If I have no monsters on my field, I can summon Kaiser Vorse Raider from my hand." Everyone watched as a blue-skinned orc with a double-sided axe appeared. (ATK 1900 DEF: 1200 LV: 5)

"Hmm." Andrew narrowed his eyes. 'That monster looks familiar.'

"And now for a normal summon, I'll play Witch's Apprentice in defense mode." The winged witch dressed in blue appeared next to the orc. (ATK: 550 DEF: 500 LV: 2) "And with this lady on the field, all dark attribute monsters gain 500 extra attack points." (ATK: 1900-2400) (ATK: 550-1050) "Then I'll end my turn with a facedown." Michael concluded as a card appeared at his feet.

"Then I guess it's my move." Andrew said and drew his sixth card. He looked at his hand. He noticed a certain a card he was holding. 'Zombina.' And that caused the faint memory of the person holding out a card appear again. 'That memory again. This card just brought it up. Perhaps this card was from that memory. But what does it mean?'

Michael noticed the way Andrew was staring at his hand. 'Is he starting to remember something again?'

'I don't know what it might be, but hopefully, I'll remember it soon. Anyway...' Andrew took another card from his hand. "I summon Elemental HERO Heat in attack mode." A pillar of flames erupted from the ground, from which the red and white armored fire hero emerged and made a flip before landing on his feet. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "Let's see... due to his special ability, he gains 200 attack points for every Elemental HERO I have on the field. And that includes him." (ATK: 1600-1800) "And now I'm gonna weaken your Kaiser Vorse Raider by attacking Witch's Apprentice!" The fire hero ignited his right fist and dashed forward.

Michael smirked. "Then I better put him to use before it's too late! I activate my trap! Grinning Grave Virus!" His facedown card flipped up. "In order to use this card, I have to sacrifice a dark monster with 3000 or less attack points, like Kaiser Vorse Raider." The orc disappeared. "And for every 500 attack points that monster had, you must destroy one card in your hand or deck."

"Whoa! That's pretty harsh." Shiori commented.

"No joke." Alexis replied. "That monster had 2400 attack points, so that will cost Andrew 4 cards."

Andrew fanned out his deck and tried to decide what cards to get rid of. "This..." He picked a card. "And this..." And picked another one. He then perked a little when he found another card. "Oh, this one." He then picked a fourth card. "Alright then..." He slid all four of them into his graveyard slot.

"By the way..." Michael spoke up. "My trap card has another surprise. Cards destroyed and sent to the graveyard by its effects can't activate their own effects the same turn."

"They can't?" Andrew asked in shock.

"Afraid so. And judging from your reaction, you tried to activate one of the cards you just ditched, right?" Andrew's uneasy look confirmed Michael's suspicion. "I thought so. Anyway, there is one more thing you should know about my trap card. If the monster I sacrificed had over 2000 attack points, I get to take a look at every card you draw, until your third turn after I activated this card. And I also get to destroy all monsters among them."

"Wow! That is one tough card." Jaden commented.

"Yeah, it's kinda like a combination of those two Virus cards Michael used the first time he dueled him." Syrus noted.

"But that doesn't seem to stop Heat's attack though." Chumley said.

And true to his words, the fire hero landed a punch on the witch, making her explode. "Okay, I think I..." Andrew trailed off for a moment before taking two cards from his hand and inserted them into his duel disk. "I place two cards facedown and end my turn."

"Sounds good. Now then..." Michael drew. "I summon Pitch-Black Warwolf in attack mode!" The black humanoid wolf rose up with a howl. (ATK: 1600 DEF: 600 LV: 4) "And I'll equip him with Sword of Dark Rites!" The warwolf's black blade transformed into a broader silver sword with a green gem on the blade itself. "Thanks to this new weapon, my Warwolf gains 400 attack points." (ATK: 1600-2000) "Now attack his hero!" The warwolf leaped in the air.

"I activate my trap!" Andrew responded. But he was confused that none of his facedown cards flipped up.

"It won't work. As long as I have Pitch-Black Warwolf on the field, you can't activate trap cards during the battle phase."

"Say what!?" Andrew exclaimed. The warwolf slashed the fire hero with his sword, shattering him to pixels.

Andrew: 4000-3800

"And with that, I'll end my turn." Michael concluded. "So, do you remember anything yet?"

Andrew thought for a moment before he shook his head. "Not yet."

"I guess this won't work." Syrus said.

"We can't give up now." Jaden retorted. "Just give him some time. He'll get through."

"For Andrew's sake, you better be right." Clover replied.

"I draw." Andrew announced and drew.

"Don't forget, my trap card lets me check the cards you draw." Michael reminded him.

Andrew revealed his new card. It was a spell card, which he used immediately. "I activate the spell card, Legacy of a Hero. Since the Elemental Heroes in my graveyard are at least level 4, I get to draw 3 cards from my deck." He drew his extra cards and revealed them. One of them was the monster card, Elemental HERO Ocean. Therefore, he slid it into his graveyard slot. "Hmm." He hummed as he looked over his hand. When he saw two certain cards, an idea was formed in his mind. "Okay! First I summon Elemental HERO Ice Edge in attack mode!" The kid in ice looking outfit appeared. (ATK: 800 DEF: 900 LV: 3) "Then I'll equip him with spell card, Fusion Sword Murasame Blade!" The dark katana with chaotic aura appeared as the young ice grabbed it with both of his hands. "This card gives my monster 800 extra attack points." (ATK: 800-1600)

"Not bad, but that Warwolf has 2000 attack points, so Ice Edge is a little too weak." Shiori observed.

"And now I activate the trap card, Blast with Chain!" One of Andrew's facedown cards flipped up.

Jenny smiled at this. "Looks like that won't be a problem."

"When this card is activated, it becomes an equip card that gives a monster 500 more attack points. And I think I'll add those points to Ice Edge." A bright blue aura surrounded the named monster. (ATK: 1600-2100)

"Now he's stronger than my Warwolf!" Michael noted.

"But he's not my target." Andrew said, confusing his opponent. "I activate Ice Edge's ability. Once per turn, I can discard a card from my hand." He discarded one of his cards. "And in return, he can attack you directly."

Michael widened his eyes as he took a step back. "Damn!"

"Now attack with Subzero Slash!" The kid swung his sword, sending out and arc of a mix of chaotic aura and cold air. The arc impacted on the ground right in front Michael's feet. And then suddenly, spikes made of ice sprouted, causing him to fall back.

Michael: 4000-1900

"I end my turn." Andrew concluded.

Michael recovered quickly and smirked. "Now that was a nice move." He drew his next card. "But let's see what you do after this. I sacrifice Pitch-Black Warwolf in order to summon Darknight Parsath!" The warwolf vanished and was replaced by the dark fairy centaur. (ATK: 1900 DEF: 1400 LV: 5) "This guy gains 100 attack points for every dark monster in my graveyard, and I count 3." (ATK: 1900-2200)

"Uh oh." Andrew said in worry.

"And there's more." Michael continued as a certain spell card came out of his graveyard slot. "My Sword of Dark Rites has another effect. When it's sent to the graveyard after the equipped monster was sacrificed, it goes back to my hand." He held it up. "And I think I'll add it to my Parsath." The centaur monster's regular sword was replaced by the silver bladed sword. (ATK: 2200-2600) "Now attack his Ice Edge!" He galloped towards the kid and struck him with his sword, shattering him to pixels.

Andrew: 3800-3300

"And now I activate Darknight Parsath's special ability. If he destroys a monster in battle, I can take a dark monster from my graveyard and remove it from play." Michael took out Kaiser Vorse Raider from the graveyard. "After that, I can draw a card." Michael drew. (ATK: 2600-2500) He looked at the new card and revealed it. "And now I play Foolish Burial. This lets me send a monster from my deck to the graveyard." He fanned out his deck, took a card and slid it into his graveyard slot. (ATK: 2500-2600) "And now it's your turn."

"Then I draw." Andrew drew his next card and looked at it. It was a spell card. 'Mask Change.' Andrew read. "Ah!" He gasped as new images appeared in his mind. And those images were more clear than earlier.

Andrew's mind

"I play the spell card Mask Change!" "Say hello to Masked HERO Anki."

"I play the spell card Form Change!" "Now I summon Masked HERO Acid."

"I activate the spell card Mask Change II." "I summon Masked HERO Goka."

"Ah!" Andrew shook his head as he came back to reality.

"Hey, are you okay?" Michael asked.

Andrew took a deep breath before answering. "I'm fine. I just remembered something new, that's all."

"Really?" Jenny asked.

"Cool! So what did you remember now?" Michael asked.

"I just remembered some strategies I used in the past. And speaking of strategies..." Andrew trailed off and smirked while revealing his spell card. Michael surprised to see it. "I just figured out how to deal with your Parsath. I activate the trap card, Call of the Haunted!" His facedown card flipped up. "Now I can take a monster from my graveyard and summon it to the field. And I'll bring back Elemental HERO Stratos!" The turbine winged hero rose up in front of him. (ATK: 1800 DEF: 300 LV: 4) "And with him summoned, I can use his ability, and add a HERO monster from my deck to my hand." He fanned his deck out again and picked out a card. "And since my monster is added to my hand this way, it won't be affected by your virus."

Michael's response was a smile.

"And now I'll summon it! Elemental HERO Blazeman!" The fiery headed hero in red armor rose up next to Stratos. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 1800 LV: 4) "And when this guy is summoned, I can take a Polymerization from my deck and it to my hand." Andrew searched through his deck until he found the card in question. "And I think I'll use it right away!" A fusion vortex appeared. "I fuse Stratos and Blazeman to form..." He paused there, wondering what he should summon. Luckily for him, another memory popped up in his mind. It was about a time when he summoned a certain wind monster. "Elemental HERO Great Tornado!" Blazeman and Stratos entered the fusion vortex, and soon after, the hero in green, black and yellow armor emerged. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2200 LV: 8)

"Andrew's doing great right now." Shiori commented.

"Maybe this might work after all." Clover said.

"And now I activate Great Tornado's special ability." Andrew continued. "DownBurst!" A fierce tornado surrounded the dark fairy centaur. "When Great Tornado is fusion summoned, your monster loses half its strength." The centaur was now weaker as the tornado faded. (ATK: 2600-1300 DEF: 1400-700) "Now Great Tornado, attack his Darknight Parsath with Super Cell!" The wind hero thrusted his right arm and shot a whirlwind out of his palm.

"I don't think so!" Michael said as a red armored warrior with long whit hair appeared in front of the centaur. He blocked the whirlwind like it was nothing. Once it was over, he disappeared. "Remember the monster that was sent to the grave by Foolish Burial's effect? It was Necro Guardna, and by removing him from my graveyard, I can negate your attack." (ATK: 1300-1200)

"Looks like Andrew blew it." Chumley blew it.

"No joke. Michael was clearly one step ahead." Alexis replied.

But Andrew smirked and held up a certain card. "I activate the spell card, Mask Change!"

"Sweet! That's more like it!" Jaden cheered.

"With this quickplay spell, I can send a HERO monster to the graveyard and summon a Masked HERO with the same attribute. So I'll let Great Tornado transform into Masked HERO Divine Wind!" The wind hero's body glowed brightly. It didn't take long before the light died down and Great Tornado was now replaced by the emerald-green armored hero. (ATK: 2700 DEF: 1900 LV: 8) "Take down his Parsath with Storming Justice!" Just like the previous wind hero, Divine thrusted his right arm and a whirlwind came out of his palm. But this time, the centaur was caught in the storm and exploded.

Michael: 1900-0400

"And because Divine Wind destroyed a monster in battle, I get to draw 1 card from my deck." Andrew a card and revealed it. It was Elemental HERO Posion Rose.

"A monster." Michael noted. "That card goes bye bye."

Andrew slid the card into his graveyard slot. "I end my turn."

"Now what to do?" Michael mused and drew his next card. He looked at it and smirked. "Perhaps I can make you remember something else with this. Thanks to the 3 dark monsters in my graveyard, I can now summon Dark Armed Dragon!" The ground shook as the black and silver dragon rose up behind Michael, roaring loudly. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 1000 LV: 7)

"Whoa!" Andrew gasped as his wide eyes were focused on the giant dragon. And then, some faint images of that dragon appeared in his mind. 'That dragon...'

"Does this bad boy look familiar to you?" Michael asked.

"Actually it does." Andrew replied. "But... I can't put a finger on it."

"Then let's see if my dragon's special ability can help. By removing a dark monster from my graveyard, I can destroy a card on the field." Michael took Darknight Parsath out of his graveyard slot. "Now fire away!" The dragon aimed its tail at Divine Wind and shot a spike from it. It pierced through his abdomen and he exploded right after that.

"My monster is gone!"

"And so are most of your life points. Dark Armed Dragon, attack!" The dragon raised its right arm and slashed Andrew with its claws, forcing him down to one knee.

Andrew: 3300-0500

"I end my turn." Michael concluded.

Andrew stood up and drew his next card. He showed it to Michael. It was a trap card.

'Mirror Force.' He noted.

Andrew inserted the card into his duel disk. "I place one card facedown and summon Zombina in defense mode!" The little orange-haired zombie girl with the little plushie appeared. (ATK: 1400 DEF: 1500 LV: 4) Andrew stared at her for a moment before turning his gaze to Michael. "I end my turn."

Clover stared at his monster with soft eyes. 'Zombina. The card I gave Andrew before I left Domino City. It was supposed to remind him of me.'

"I don't think you're safe. After all..." Michael drew. "I still have two more monsters in my graveyard. And I'll think use both of them to destroy your two cards." After he removed his two dark monsters from the graveyard, Dark Armed Dragon spun and swung its tail, completely annihilating Andrew's monster and facedown card. "Okay. Now it's time for me to-huh?" Michael stopped at mid-sentence when he saw a purple glowing mark on Andrew's field.

And then, a new monster emerged from it. It was the aquatic hero monster, Elemental HERO Ocean. (ATK: 1500 DEF: 1200 LV: 4) "Nice try, Michael." Andrew said. "But by destroying Zombina, you triggered her ability, which allows me to summon a level 4 or below monster from my graveyard."

"Now that was a nice move. But still, you don't have anything to stop my attack. Now let's go! Dark Armed Dragon, attack his Ocean with Dark Dragon Talon Terror!" The dragon and raised its right arm before swinging it.

But right before Ocean got hit, an electric barrier suddenly appeared and blocked the attack.

"What!?" Michael widened his eyes.

"Almost had me there." Andrew said and held up a certain monster card. "But thanks to your virus, I was able to send Electromagnetic Turtle to the graveyard. And by removing it from play, I can end your battle phase."

Michael simply smiled. "I end my turn with a facedown." A card appeared at his feet.

"And now it's all set." Andrew declared. "And I couldn't have done it without the Zombina card Clover gave me."

The redhead widened her eyes. "You... you mean..."

Andrew turned to her and smiled. "Yes. I remember now. You gave me that card so I would remember you. And thanks to your card..." He closed his eyes, letting countless images flash in his mind. "All my memories are back."

Everyone brightened at this.

"It worked!" Shiori cheered.

"Awesome!" Syrus exclaimed.

"Of course it did." Jaden said.

"Glad you're back, pal." Michael said.

"Thanks." Andrew replied. "Speaking of which, it's time for my comeback." He drew. "And it starts with Ocean's special ability. During my standby phase, I can return a HERO monster to my hand. So I'll take back my Blazeman." He took the named card out of his graveyard. "And then I activate the spell card, Mask Charge! This lets me take a HERO monster and a Change card from my graveyard and add them to my hand." Ice Edge and Mask Change came out of the graveyard slot.

"Sounds like you're about play something big." Michael muttered.

"Now I summon Blazeman!" The red armored fire hero appeared again. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 1800 LV: 4) "And thanks to his special ability, I get another Polymerization from my deck." The named card slid out of Andrew's deck. "And with it, I fuse Blazeman and Ocean in order to create the Elemental HERO Absolute Zero!" The two heroes merged together and formed the ice hero in white armor with a cape. (ATK: 2500 DEF: 2000 LV: 8) "And now I play Mask Change!"

Michael gasped. "You're using it on Absolute Zero!?"

"That's right! You're about to see a powerful combo! Absolute Zero... transform!" The hero's body glowed brightly. "Now I summon Masked HERO Acid!" The light died down and revealed the dark blue armored hero, with his gun ready. (ATK: 2600 DEF: 2100 LV: 8) "When he's summoned, his ability activates. But first, Absolute Zero is about to strike!" The spirit of the named monster came out of Acid's body and then entered Dark Armed Dragon's body. And two seconds later, its body was encased in ice. "After he leaves the field, all your monsters are destroyed." The frozen creature cracked and shattered into pieces.

"Wow!" Jenny said.

"Now as for Acid's ability, all your spell's and traps are destroyed." The masked hero fired a stream of acid that melted Michael's facedown card. "And that leaves you wide open for a direct attack!" Michael quickly shielded himself with his arms as the masked hero raised his gun, causing the acid stream to hit him.

Michael: 0400-0000

As the holograms disappeared, Andrew walked over to Michael. "Are you okay?"

The Obelisk boy lowered his arms and smiled at him. "I'm fine. More importantly, are you okay?"

Andrew smiled. "I am now."

The others approached him.

"Then, you remember everything?" Jenny asked.

"Yeah, everything. I'm Andrew Wilson."

"Lishus." Chumley said.

"I'm glad you're back to normal." Clover said.

"Thanks. I wouldn't be without your help." He then looked at the Zombina card. "Especially when it came to this card. It certainly helped me a lot since you gave it to me. I'm really glad you gave it to me, Clover."

The redhead widened her eyes as she let the words sink in. And before she knew it, she was facing the ground.

That earned her a concerned look from Andrew. "Clover, what's wrong?" As soon as those words left his mouth, he suddenly got a surprise. "Ah!" He was enveloped in a hug from his childhood friend. The others were certainly surprised as well.

"Thank you." She muttered into his ear. "Thank you, Andrew."

Andrew wasn't moving at first. But when he did, he smiled as he hugged back. "Sure."

Jenny watched this and couldn't help but puff her cheeks in anger.
