Note: Boy, oh boy, writing stories like this is hard, especially when you delete all of the original chapters before deciding to do a rewrite. It's a good idea to keep the older chapters up, so that you can have something to look back on when you decide to rewrite the story. It's something I should've done prior to rewriting the first chapter. Despite that, I feel confident, secretly hoping the rewrite will have better reception than the original. Before moving on, I have something to say to three reviewers.
Big Bossk Man 92: It was more of a stroke of luck on Katt's part, given how badly it could've gone if she hadn't done that. Either way, at least she and Falco were able to wound Leon. As for how Star Wolf became vampires, it wasn't because they were turned by someone. Maybe we'll learn how they became vampires in this chapter.
Ron: It's not supposed to be like that. However, as a fair warning, the story might get a little too violent later on down the line. I guess that you could say that the gore would be on par with an Italian horror movie. They do get pretty gory at times, but I probably won't go THAT far. Or maybe I will. Stay tuned for what happens next!
The White Wolf named Alex: Thanks for the review. I hope you like this chapter as well!
Now that I've said that, it's time for chapter seven.
Chapter 7: Angel of Death
Krystal was laying in her room, trying to relax for the afternoon. However, her head was aching, almost as if it would explode. The cobalt vixen's telepathy had detected that there was a ship coming towards the Great Fox. Luckily, the ship happened to be Falco's Arwing. As glad as she was to know that her teammate was alright, the vulpine could sense suspicion from him. Katt was even with him, and she had suspicion on her mind, though that was some skepticism masking it.
Before she could prepare herself for Falco and Katt's arrival, Krystal felt her telepathy pick up a signal. The signal came by so fast, she nearly fell off of her bed. However, it wasn't a signal, but rather a telepathic message. As much as the cobalt vixen tried to block it out, she couldn't stop it. She reluctantly listened to it, knowing that it was too strong for her to resist.
Krystal! Wolf's voice rang out in her mind. If you can hear this message, Princess, I have something else for you to do! I won't tell you what it is immediately, but you'll have to do it! When I give the order, you must obey! Can you do that, honey?
Krystal was taken aback by the last part of the message, as she didn't see Wolf as the kind of person to call her 'honey', let alone anything affectionate. The same could be said for any woman that the leader of Star Wolf encountered. However, what really bothered the cobalt vixen was that she was being given another order by him, but he wouldn't say what the order was immediately. She didn't want to obey, knowing that she was betraying Star Fox by listening to their rivals, but she had no choice in the matter. Given how the one-eyed lupine had converted her into a monster, there was a good chance that she would suffer if she disobeyed. If she did obey, then her teammates would suffer. It was a conundrum that Krystal just wanted to end, but it was beyond her control.
Deciding to play it cool for the time being, Krystal walked out of her room. Once she stepped out, however, she heard wind blowing. The cobalt vixen found this odd, as the Great Fox had no open doors or windows. Even if there was, then everyone would be dead, given how the ship was in space. All of a sudden, she felt a shadow over her, being big enough to tower over everyone in the Great Fox. Krystal turned around, where she saw who was behind her: a cloaked figure with a skeletal hand sticking out of a sleeve and a scythe on their back, which was enough to make her fall down in fear.
"There's no need to be afraid." The figure spoke, having the voice of a man. "I haven't come to reap any souls, especially not yours. From what I have seen, your soul is now in the hands of someone who sacrificed their mortality for additional strength and power."
Krystal didn't dare question as to why this being knew about what happened to her. The cloak and the scythe were enough for her to draw conclusions on his identity. He happened to be an ethereal embodiment of death itself: the Grim Reaper. What troubled the cobalt vixen was why he was at the Great Fox to begin with. As the being said, he wasn't there to reap any souls. If that was so, then why was the Angel of Death in an area where there were no lost souls roaming around?
"Anything wrong?" The Grim Reaper asked.
"My telepathy couldn't sense you." Krystal spoke. "I guess I'm a little taken aback, Mr. Reaper."
"You can call me Death." The being said. "There's no need to be formal around me."
"I guess that it's because of how I was raised." The cobalt vixen said.
"It's how you were raised, child." He spoke. "Now that you're undead, you're being forced to follow orders by the person who brought you to such a state."
"I know, but I don't want to do them!" The Cerinian said. "I don't want to hurt my friends either, but I have no choice other than to obey Wolf's commands!"
"As much as I want to touch you, it won't work on you. I cannot kill the undead, so I have to either let the mortals kill them, or wait for them to die."
"I just wish that I could be freed from this whole thing, so that I could quit lying to my teammates."
"Just as you said, you have no choice in the matter for the time being. The only hope for your release from your vampirism is for someone to kill Wolf O'Donnell, or for someone to put you out of your misery."
"And I can't kill Wolf can I?"
"Unfortunately not, given how he made you his servant. As long as he's alive, you're a still a vampire."
Krystal only sighed in disappointment, knowing that Death was right. Unless Wolf was killed, or if someone staked her in the heart, she would be a vampire until the end of the universe. What the cobalt vixen wouldn't have given to get out of this conundrum, even if she had to give what life remained in her body. What mattered to her was keeping her friends safe from her fellow vampires. That is, unless, if Wolf had turned more people into vampires, including his own teammates. It was something the Cerinian didn't know, and something she didn't want to know.
"I suppose I should leave for now." Death said. "There's nothing else I could say for the time being, so I guess that this is goodbye."
"I don't know if we'll talk again, so it would be a surprise if we do." Krystal said.
"We'll meet again, but I have a feeling that it will be on your terms." The being said. "Farewell!"
Without warning, Death faded away, almost as if he were a hallucination. Once that happened, Krystal looked at her communicator, only to find that no time had passed while she was talking to the Grim Reaper. It was as if time itself had stopped in his presence. Before Krystal could walk to the kitchen, she felt a telepathic message ring in her mind. The cobalt vixen groaned, having not been prepared for it.
Krystal, where have you been? Wolf's voice echoed in her thoughts.
I was just talking to someone. Krystal responded, trying to lie.
That doesn't explain how you weren't responding to my other messages! The one-eyed lupine telepathically said. I tried to send you a few, but something was blocking them out!
I can't explain how that happened, but I'm sorry about that. The cobalt vixen responded.
Never mind that, it's time for my new order. He said via telepathy. Are you ready for it?
I am, now that I can respond to your messages again. The Cerinian transmitted.
Krystal, listen carefully, I want you to bite one of your teammates when they aren't expecting it! I don't care who you have to bite, just do it!
I won't be in the clear, because Falco's the most suspicious of me! If he sees me biting someone, he'll -!
Of course, the bird will snitch! I don't have enough time to continue this conversation, so do what you have to!
After that, Krystal knew that she had another problem. Now that Wolf told her to bite one of her teammates, the cobalt vixen had no other option than to obey. Not only that, but the rest of the team would find out if she was a vampire if she bit one of them. Blood would no doubt be dripping from the vulpine's teeth if she managed to do so, and she would be outed. While this would allow her to reveal who turned her into a vampire, she would probably be staked for her troubles. If not that, then Wolf would probably do something terrible to her for disobeying him.
Once she entered the kitchen, Krystal pulled out a jar of jellied blood, intent on eating some of it for a snack. As she spread it on two slices of bread, the cobalt vixen could sense that Falco was about to come into the main room. That was when she felt something surging through her. Knowing that the pheasant was the most suspicious of her, the vulpine knew that he couldn't live for much longer. As soon as he came in, she would have to drive her fangs into his throat. Krystal didn't want to do it, but what other choice did she have?
I'm sorry, Falco, but you have to die! Krystal thought to herself. It's not because I hate you, but it's because you know too much! Please understand, I can't disobey the order that I was given!
Note: Looks like Krystal might have to feed on Falco or turn him into a vampire. Will she do it, or will she stop herself from doing such a thing? If she does, how will the team react? If she doesn't, will the cobalt vixen tell them what she is now? What will happen next?
While I was unable to get the story done in time for Halloween, I was able to get this chapter done. Also, today happened to be my birthday, so happy birthday to me. I hope that this chapter keeps all of you satisfied until the next one. Until next time, guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace! And also, Happy Halloween!
