Intent To Declare

Disclaimer: I meant to do this awhile back but never got around to it for one reason or another and its primarily thanks to Hawk2010 that I was reminded about this idea. Hale fire never happened and Cora Hale grew up to be best friends with Scott, Stiles, and Harley. This is set before the Christmas break in Sophomore year.

Summary: Finally getting tired of the inaction between two of his best friends, Stiles Stilinski resolves to do something about it.

"Dude, I'm tellin' you, I am telling you, Cora is into you just as much as you are her." Stiles Stilinski declared near exasperatedly to his best friend and brother in all but blood, Scott McCall.

Whom he'd known since their days in the sandbox for that matter. His shaggy haired best friend with a crooked jaw and a small scar on his face, looked at him with a doubtful look on his face. "I don't know, man, I think you're imagining things." Scott told him doubtfully.

Stiles groaned and ran a hand over his shaved head in agitation. "I'm not, trust me. You can even ask Harley if you want. Hell, ask just about anybody and they'll tell you that our mutual best friend, Cora Hale, is into YOU! I swear I once heard your mom and her mom talkin' about actually settin' you two up on a date together."

He had to shudder at that as they had been a little TOO happy about the prospect of doing that and all the plans they were coming up with at the time. "You sure you didn't dream that up?" Asked Scott in a skeptical manner.

As his mom doing something like that just seemed doubtful! Especially as she was paranoid about ending up on some MTV show or whatever because he got a girl pregnant! Which… At this point, seemed very unlikely to happen given that he was essentially at the bottom of the so called Food Chain in high school. And because of that, he was practically invisible to a majority of girls there aside from Cora Hale, Rebecca 'Harley' Harlowe', and Sidney Watson. Though with her Scott just thought she was being more nice than anything else. Now Stiles was well aware of the fact that that particular girl, like Cora, was into his best friend but had been sworn to secrecy on it lest he be caused great pain by Sidney. And considering she promised to use her camera on him in ways not yet invented with a dead serious look on her face, Stiles had yet to be willing enough to go against it!

But… If his boy didn't do something soon, he might have to goad Sidney into actually trying something before he lost his damn mind! Stiles groaned again. "Dude! Have I ever steered you wrong!?"

"Uhh… Yes, there has been a few times." Replied Scott with a scowl on his face that caused Stiles to flail a little.

"Well, this time I'm not! So go, dude! Go get your girl and end my misery!"

"Du-"

"NO! You and Cora are practically meant for each other, Scottie. She's into you, you're into her, now go do somethin' about it, damnit!"

Scott made to argue but Stiles wouldn't hear of it and kept thrusting his index finger in the direction both boys knew she would be at this time of day after school. Earning himself another scowl from Scott, whom was trying and failing to keep the hope in him from surging. "Alright! I'm going! I'm going!"

"Thank God!" Muttered Stiles in relief as his best friend and brother in all but blood ran off to go find their mutual best friend and tell her how he felt.

Now, thanks to his Asthma, Scott had to be careful in his rushing to get to where Cora was. Making him annoyed with his condition once again as it got in his way more than he liked. But finally, thankfully, young Scott made it to where he knew Cora was. And what he saw as he came into the room shattered his heart as he caught sight of Cora and one of her classmates in a lip lock. Crushed, Scott quietly turned away and walked away from the Drama Club classroom just as Cora and her classmate ended their kiss. I knew I shouldn't have listened to Stiles!
