Thank you for the transcript, triscythe59!

Hunter x Hunter - Gon vs Genthru
"What you shall be witnessing is a world that is similar to Remnant's."
"In what way?" Pyrrha asks.
"There are individuals who are capable of utilizing Aura or Nen; licensed elite members of humanity known as Hunters… One could make several notable comparisons."
"I'm going to take an educated guess that their usage of Aura is different than ours." Said Ren. He can't help but be curious about how Aura is utilized by those from other dimensions, barring the alternative realities of Remnant.
"You are correct. Their aura has a much more complex property. An entire categorization."
"Categorization? Is it similar to how we sometimes categorize semblances?" There is an unofficial categorization of semblances back on Remnant, like Speed, Creation, Utility, etc.
"In a sense, yes. There are six types of Auras or Nen. We shall provide a brief summary of what they are. If you are interested, we can provide you with reading materials regarding Nen."
"Yes. I would like that, please." Ren gave the Hosts a thankful nod upon receiving a book about Nen and its attributes and properties.
Vine raised his hand too, "As do I. You have my thanks."
Several others who are interested in the subject also receive their own copies to go over in their free time. It should be an interesting subject to read, even if they are unable to understand or manifest whatever differences Nen is compared to their aura. Once that was out of the way, the Hosts begin to explain the six types of Nen.
"There are six Nen types: Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Specialization.
A person who has an Enhancement type is an Enhancers.
A person who has a Transmutation type is a Transmuter.
A person who has an Emission type is an Emitter.
A person who has a Conjuration type is a Conjurer.
A person who has a Manipulation type is a Manipulator.
A person who has a Specialization type is a Specialist.
"Guess we know what you lot are." Qrow nudges Winter and nods at the rest of the Ace-Ops, all of whom are Atlas Special Operatives, or Specialists for short.
Winter growls, "Quiet and pay attention."
"There are subcategorizes, but they are easily detailed within the books we provided."
"I can tell this can get even longer if we went into details. Maybe even several books worth." Said Fox.
Their form of Aura is a rather simple concept. It is a manifestation of one's soul, granting individual protection, increased physical prowess, and a slight healing factor. It's mainly used for defensive purposes, but it can be used offensively and more advanced techniques can allow a user to detect other's aura. Furthermore, one can develop a semblance from their aura when certain conditions are met, which in itself is a completely different field.
"What do each of these Aura… I mean Nen types do and how do people figure out which type they possess?" To Glynda's knowledge, an established category system wouldn't exist without some form of a means to test and validate the entries.
"We shall not delve into all the attributes of each type for now. As for your second question, the most popular and most accurate test to determine one's Nen type through the Water Divination test. The resulting effect from one's aura contacting the glass will determine a person's aura type.
If the volume of the water changes, then the user is an Enhancer
If the taste of the water changes, then the user is a Transmuter.
If impurities appear in the water, then the user is a Conjurer.
If the color of the water changes, then the user is an Emitter.
If the leaf moves on the water's surface, then the user is a Manipulator.
If a completely different change appears, then the user is a Specialist."
"Wow… This feels like an entire school course." Jaune clears his throat, "Not that, um… That's bad or anything. It's actually a bit interesting."
Ren nods, "I wouldn't mind attending a course like that."
"We gave given what is needed. More can be explained as the viewing progress."
"Ehnn. Let's see what they can do." Mercury cracks his neck and leans into his chair. While he's not well versed in the academic fields, he does enjoy learning. If it's combat-related, at the very least. There are always a few things he can pick up and use.
The room darkens and the screen flickers to life.
The scene opens showing three kids, about fourteen of age, running in a forest, two boys and one girl.
The boy from the left one boy has spiky silver hair, ashen skin, and blue eyes wearing baggy clothing, consisting of long-sleeved and dark-colored shirts and a turtleneck shirt, baggy brown and black shorts, and purple boots.
The girl on the right is a blond ponytailed wearing a sleeveless dress and a bloomer with a mantle and skirt donned over it, along with gloves and plain leather shoes.
And in the middle is another boy with long spiky black, green tipped hair and large, hazel brown eyes wearing a white tank top underneath, green short shorts, and green, laced boots and wearing a chain emerald pendant around his neck.
"So, we're watching a bunch of kids fight or something?" Marrow said with an eyebrow raised. "You guys mentioned something about this… Elite warriors or something called Hunters. Is this their cadet trial?"
"No. These three are currently within a 'virtual' island called Greed Island." In truth, Greed Island does exist in the real world, but the audience does not need to know that.
Pietro blinks, "Virtual?"
"Indeed. A dangerous 'virtual world' created for Nen users only. If they were to die within this virtual world, they will also perish in the real world."
"What?!" Oscar looks in horror at the three kids on screen. They look roughly around his age, younger even. Then again, there are already people at his age fighting the Creatures of Grimm, so he shouldn't be all that surprised.
"Whoa, hold it!" Robyn waves her hand and collects herself, "Why in the world would anyone join into something dangerous as that?"
The Hosts did not answer her question and choose to remain silent.
However, they suddenly stopped due to the sudden flash of light that crashed towards the ground revealing three adult males blocking their path forcing them to run back.
The one on the left has spiky red hair, narrow eyes, and a tattoo on his forehead that resembles a bat, a generic devil-like figure, or even a heart with arrows wearing light gray pants and a pink, long-sleeved shirt with the exact figure as his tattoo in black.
The one on the right with middle-parting, long, straight, purple hair, and a tattoo that looks like a trident on his forehead wearing light gray pants and a black, long-sleeved shirt with the exact figure as his tattoo in white.
And finally, in the middle is a tall, skinny, thin arms blond man and has a pointed chin and angular glasses that give him an evil look complimenting his chin and cheekbones.
Jaune lets out an uneasy breath. "Looks like those three will be their opponents."
"Guess they're not a big fan of picking on someone their own size, huh?" Said Nora, who is a bit small compared to most of her peers.
The three grinned as they chased their targets.
"Don't lose sight of them! We're out of Accompany cards!" The man with the glasses, who is clearly the leader, ordered as they continued to chase the children.
Neptune made a quizzical face, "Accompany cards?"
"A spell card found in Greed Island. It's a spell that can relocate the user and everyone within a 20-meter radius to a certain location."
"So, it's like a magical consumable item? Something from a video game?" Asked Jaune.
"Indeed."
After a long while of chasing, the three adults finally caught up with the children forcing them to stop in their tracks as they catch their breaths.
"Now, why don't you give up and hand over your cards?" The glassed adult said to the children.
"No way! We'll never let you have them!" The green-haired boy shouted in refusal while the other boy narrowed his eyes enemies while the girl looked nervous.
"I think they're cornered." Blake can't help but feel concerned for the three kids.
But only on the outside.
'Everything's gone to plan.' The girl calmy thought as she focuses on her enemies. 'They mean to fight us one-on-one.'
"They have something up their sleeves," Qrow noted.
"But why fight one-on-one?" Ruby asked no one in particular, "Wouldn't it be better to fight as a team?"
Qrow shrugs, "Maybe their enemies have better teamwork than them. Maybe they work better alone. Who knows?"
"If we have to hand over our cards, we'd rather fight!" The boy declared.
"Wait, Gon!" The other boy shouts to the now-named boy but held himself back, knowing that his friend won't budge from his decision. "Damn…"
His facial expression says that he's worried. But like the girl, he's calmed on the inside.
'Good. Now we only need to separate them.' The boy thought as they now begin their plan. He then turns to the girls. "Bisky, you run for it!"
Cinder realizes their ploy, "They're going for a diversion. Have one of them run off with what they wanted while the draws their attention."
The now named girl was (faked) startled at the boy's order "B-But…"
"Just run!" The boy shouted then quickly jumped back to avoid the red-haired adult's attempted to capture him. He jumped back towards the tree and began to run in a different direction.
"Wait!" The adult shouted as he begins to chase him.
Bisky (faked) hesitantly runs away in another direction making the purple-haired adult chase her.
"Hey, you aren't getting away." He shouts as they disappeared into the woods. Leaving Gon and the glassed adult behind.
"Something tells me those two guys aren't the brightest of the bunch." Roman shakes his head. He's worked with enough street thugs to know how things often turn out.
"Dum-dum." Read Neo's sign.
'I'm counting on you guys.' Gon thoughts as he watches his friends went their separate ways to face their opponents.
Their strategy brought Ruby back to the train incident where her team and Dr. Oobleck split up in an attempt to stop the train from breaching Vale. While they weren't successful, they managed to limit the number of damages the White Fang would have caused.
It was a risky move, but Ruby trusted her teammates and professor enough that she won't hesitate to do it again, if necessary.
"You're up against me!" Gon quickly turns to his opponent seeing that he was already up close to him and was ready to strike him with his right hand.
But before his hand could reach him, Gon counters by using the back of his left hand, hit his opponent's arm, and pushes it away. The enemy then uses his left hand to strike Gon's stomach, but the boy jumps back, avoiding the attack, and takes a distance away from him.
Jaune did his best to keep up with their movement, but neither his eyes nor mind can track the two combatants. "They're fast!"
"Not just fast, they got good reactions." Said Harriet. She reckons she can outpace them with her semblance, though she understands that speed isn't everything.
The enemy frowns as he pops his fingers in his left hand and realizes Gon's intention. "You know that I'm the Bomber?"
"I heard it from Tsezgerra." Gon answers as he keeps his guard up.
"I like explosions!" Nora exclaims.
Both Coco and Yang smirked in unison. "Sometimes you need a little bit of an explosion in your life."
"… I'm not seeing any explosives on hand. Maybe he has them underneath his coat." Said Velvet, holding onto her camera.
The man hummed as he stood up straight and straightened his glasses with his right index finger. "And who told you how my power works?" He questions with a threatening tone while releasing a heavy pressure from his Aura.
Fox, who has mastered his aura technique in sensing the auras of others, could feel the intensity of the Bomber's aura through the dimensional screen.
He grimaced at the sudden outpour he's sensing, "This aura… It's dense. There's something else about it that I don't recognize."
"I can feel it too," Glynda said with a frown.
Years of training her semblance have given her a better understanding of not just herself, but other's aura and their semblances as well. She has seen those with large aura reserves and people who can regenerate aura at a frightening rate.
This, however, was completely different. This aura is dense, different, yet familiar.
Gon slightly shivered at the pressure as his eyes widened as he recalled his short fight. 'Incredible. That moment was enough for him to know what I'm watching out for and why…' Gon thought as he realizes how much of a difference the two of them are. 'This is the difference in experience between us!'
"Being able to discern your opponent's intention is a valuable skill. Their strengths as well." Ozpin comments on Gon's insight.
"There aren't too many people who know about my power and are still alive." He says as he glares at Gon.
Gon gasps and quickly raises his right hand that has a green ring on his index finger.
"Book!" He shouts, making his ring glow, then suddenly a book appears floating before him from a puff of smoke.
This made the man raise his brow, wondering what the boy was planning.
"How's a book going to protect you? Use it as a shield?" Weiss thought to herself out loud.
Ruby meekly offers a rather possible explanation, "Maybe it's a magical book?"
'I can't let him control the pace of the fight.' Gon thought to himself as he prepares to fight. "I don't like people just taking cards from other players! So, let's make a deal." He shouts to his enemy. "Whoever surrenders first has to give up all his cards."
"Seems like these dangerous games of theirs revolves around these cards." Clover muses while cupping his chin.
"You seem to have the wrong idea." The man stood straight. "You're in no position to make demands."
"This is your last chance to make a deal." Gon continues with complete determination and without a single shred of fear in him. "Otherwise, you're nothing more than a thief. I'd rather die than hand over cards to a thief! You can kill me, but I still won't take out my binder!"
Roman snorts, "I can respect that to an extent. Some things aren't worth holding onto, kid."
Neo nods in agreement.
"You certainly sound like you know what you're talking about." Winter coldly retorts.
"You're insane. And I don't mean my kind of insane." The man scoffed in amusement but raised his right hand that also wears the same rig as Gon. "Very well. You have a deal. Book."
As soon as he called out the word, a similar book appeared the same way Gon's did.
"A wager it is, then," Qrow said with a grunt. "Who's gonna chicken out of a fight."
"Perhaps it'll be better than losing one's life?" It was a rhetorical question, but Ozpin knows that sometimes it's best to take one's secret to the grave.
"I'm holding one hundred thirty-one cards." He announced as he looked through his Book. "I have ninety-seven of the restricted slot cards."
"I have one hundred and two cards." Gon declared. "And seventy-one of the restricted slot cards. Book." He called out, making his Book disappear.
"You have #2 and #75, correct?" The man asked.
"Yeah." Gon answered, making him grin.
"Book." He called out, making his Book vanish, then took a fighting stance. "That's all I need."
"Sounds like they're fighting over some trading cards," Jaune said with a small chuckle.
"Maybe." Pyrrha looks a bit uneasy, "Something tells me this won't be… A clean fight."
"What makes you say that?"
"I'm not sure. Just a feeling." A bad feeling regarding the man who calls himself the Bomber.
Gon growled as he took his stance while unleashing his white Aura that envelopes his body.
'An excellent show of Ren…' The man mentally admits then unleashed his Aura, which was three times the amount Gon has shown. 'But clearly, he has much room for improvement.'
The Hosts answered before Nora could say anything regarding the similar word pronunciation of her partner's name.
"Ren is one of the Four Major Principles. The basics of controlling one's Aura. This amplifies the user's physical strength and durability and provides a large pool of aura for any advanced techniques or individual skills they decide to use, albeit at the cost of expending said aura."
Nora squeals and begins to shake Ren around, "They named a technique after you, Renny!"
"My name could mean a lot of things. Please stop shaking me."
Vine briefly ponders to himself. "Sounds like a semblance, or someone pushing their aura and physical capabilities to their limits. I find myself intrigued and eager to learn more about the differences and utilization of their aura."
Seeing what his enemy is capable of, Gon grits his teeth and charges forward as he remembered Bisky's words.
'Offense the is the strongest defense. You're strong enough that a single explosion won't be enough to finish you off. So, stay on the attack!'
"Heck yeah, it is!" Yang whoops from her seat.
"No, it is not." Her teammates, teachers, and family members replied flatly.
Just as planned, Gon jumped straight to punch him with his left fist filled with Aura. His opponent dodged, but Gon followed up with a crescent kick with his left leg; again, he dodged. However, Gon was still in mid-air. By twisting his body, he delivered a dropkick with his right leg. This time his enemy blocked it with both his arms but pushed Gon away, forcing the boy to jump back.
Mercury nods approvingly, "Not bad."
The man resumed his stance but was smirking, not even looking injured or troubled at all. 'This kid has skill.' He mentally admits to Gon's agility and power. 'But his aura is sloppy at best.'
"It's hard to achieve good form and control at the same time." Yatsuhashi murmurs. His teammates all nod in agreement.
Gon then charges again.
'Not sure why he was so confident.' The man mentally scoffs as he continues to dodge and block Gon's attack.
Raven scoffs back, "That brat is either brave, or foolish."
Gon continues his attack and making sure to avoid his enemy's counterattack while remembering Bisky's words. 'At this point, you're nowhere near his level. You won't be able to deal with significant damage. But continue to attack!'
Elm shakes her head, "That is horrible advice."
"Hmm. Guess we'll have to see where that takes him." Said Clover.
As Gon was pushed back from a block, he charges in with a slide tackle, but his enemy jumps out of the way. Gon quickly gets back on his feet and charges towards him with a fist full of Aura.
'Because he will still defeat you.'
Then why continue fighting? Raven could feel some of her brain cells dying due to the brat's stupidity. Retreat and survive to fight another day.
He was immediately struck down by the man punching him in the face, making the boy crash down quite a distance.
"You still haven't answered my question." The man said, now losing his interest. "Who told you about my power?"
Gon tried to get back up but stumbled down after taking such a heavy blow, his entire body bruised and injured.
"His aura isn't protecting him." Marrow points out, "Isn't aura suppose to shield you from harm?"
"The guy did say that the kid's aura is sloppy at best, so…" Harriet trails off.
"Well, it isn't important now." The man said as he begins to walk towards Gon. "My point is that I don't need my ability to deal with you."
Gon, who was trying to get up, widen his eyes in shock, then narrowed the feeling that was being looked down upon but was mentally happy at that result.
'All according to plan.' He thought as blood dripped to the ground as he slowly gets back up, wipes the blood off him, and then remembers the plan he made with Bisky.
'Once he's seen how much stronger he is, we'll begin to lure him into our trap!'
"Don't know what they're doing, but the did is taking a huge gamble trying to get his opponent to go all out." Qrow drains his flask and wipes his mouth. "A dangerous game he's playing because I don't think that guy won't mind maiming him."
In another aisle, Cinder remains silent in her seat as she tries to grasp Gon and his friend's plans. Forcing the enemy to use all their assets at the potential cost of one's life… It's an interesting scheme she would like to see play out.
"Osu!" Gon says with determination but was clenching his fists in frustration. 'That's how I'd like to respond…' He mentally says as he gets ready to face his opponent again. 'But I don't like the idea of being manhandled.' The boy takes a battle stance and unleashes his Aura again. 'I'll make him use his power… I'll carry out the plan afterward!'
"I wouldn't deviate from the plan in your condition." Said Ren with a frown.
His enemy scoffs at the boy's effort. "Looks like you need a little more pain!" He charges and kicks Gon.
Gon block the attack, causing him to drop his guard and gave the man a chance to deliver a powerful punch at Gon's stomach, driving him to spittle, then followed by another punch at his face crashing Gon down to the ground. Still, the man didn't stop there. He kicked Gon up in the air and followed another kick making Gon crash against a nearby tree then fell to the ground.
Half of the audience winced upon seeing the damage Gon took. Even Mercury instinctively winced, flashing back to the brutal training his father gave him.
"Talk about a beating…" He mutters under his breath.
Gon was on all four on the ground as he ground in pain but slowly got back on his feet and back in his fighting stance again, pushing away the pain.
The man clicked his tongue in annoyance, seeing that the boy isn't willing to give up after that kind of beating.
'Use your power.' Gon mentally growled. 'I have a surprise for you!'
Vernal crosses her arm with a slightly impressed look on her face. "Baiting him, huh? Let's see if he's tough enough to hold out."
"The question becomes, will his opponent take the bait?" Said Tai with a concerned look.
The man, however, narrowed his eyes towards the boy, knowing what he's planning. 'I see what you're thinking. I won't use it!' He mentally thought as he dashed towards Gon and tried to kick him.
Ironwood readjusts himself on his seat, "He's not falling for it."
Gon dodges the attack, but the man follows with another kick, striking the boy, causing him to fly back, but Gon managed to land on the ground with one knee then got back up with his stance again.
The man scowled as he begins to get irritated. His Aura flaring was proof of it. 'Damned kid!'
"Quick to irritate." Maria snorts, "All part of his… Whatever their plan is."
He dashed towards Gon with full speed catching the boy off-guard, then delivers a powerful punch to his face making him crash against a nearby tree.
Pietro flinches, "Oh, dear. What brutality."
"This isn't good," Penny said worryingly.
"Why won't you accept your fate?" The man said in annoyance as Gon slowly got back on his feet, now his left eye slightly swelling. "You can't beat me."
"No way." Gon growled as he retook his stance, unleashing his Aura again. "I… I haven't lost yet!"
The man stares at the boy for a while and realizes his mistake. 'I was mistaken.' He mentally says as he activates his Aura, except for this time, it wasn't white. It was now in the color of crimson blood.
"The color of his aura has changed." Fox gasps slightly, "But why?"
The color of one's aura is static and generally has nothing of significance on Remnant. However, it can act as a good indicator for something like a semblance being activated.
"I take back what I said." The man calmly said he took a different battle stance, this time now acknowledging Gon as a threat. "I will show you, my power."
The two face each other without moving a muscle or dropping their Aura.
"The kid got what he wanted. What is he going to do now?" Marrow quietly asks himself.
"He's known as the Bomber… I'm guessing we'll soon learn why." Said Harriet.
'This battle is mental, not physical.' The man said in his head as he planned how to beat Gon. 'I must crush his will. His will to fight, his will to stand, his will to resist. Otherwise, he'll never admit defeat… To win, I must swallow my pride and play it smart. Let me demonstrate that all your hard work and confidence mean nothing!' He focuses all his Aura on his right hand, ready for the kill.
Gon narrowed his eyes, ready for him. 'Here he comes.'
The man now dashes, catching Gon off-guard by the new speed. He grabbed the boy's left wrist, and it exploded.
Gon's working right eye widens in shock at the sight. 'He's fast…' He mentally says in disbelief. 'I had no time to dodge!'
He slapped the man's hand away and jumped back. 'But I can still block his attacks!' Gon grins and proves it by showing his left wrist, showing a small number of burn marks, but his hand was still in working order.
Harriet's face scrunches up slightly, "I knew it. It's like a semblance where he can cause things to explode with a touch."
Oscar shivers upon recalling the Dark Tournament where one of the contestants caused his opponent to explode with a single touch. "This… Reminds me of that Dark Tournament viewing."
"The similarity is jarring," Glynda replies with a nod.
'Oh? He used Gyo?' The man mentally hummed, impressed by Gon's quick thinking. 'The moment I grasped his arm, he focused his aura there to block my attack.'
"I'm guessing Gyo is a technique of sorts. Defensive from the sound of it, concentrating his aura to buffer the explosion." Ren muses with a steady look.
The man gritted his teeth in annoyance. 'Idiot. You think you've outwitted me now?!'
He charges again to attack Gon, forcing him into hand-to-hand combat. Their movement was so fast that it was all just a blur.
However, the man was able to catch Gon's left hand again.
"Oh, no." Velvet shuts an eye, expecting Gon's limb to be blasted off.
Gon focused is Aura but his wrist, expecting it to explode. However, all he received was a powerful punch in the gut by the man's left hand. This caused him to cough blood and crash down to the ground away from him.
"What's the matter? That was just a body blow. If you focus your aura where I grab you, you leave yourself open everywhere else." The man mocked as Gon cradled his stomach in pain. "It's futile… In fact, you're only making it harder on yourself."
"A simple feint." Raven grunts, "Left the brat wide open."
Gon just laughed, though it was strain one, making the man drop his smile the wiped the blood off his mouth and grin.
'Bisky was right!' Gon mentally mused.
"But it confirmed something about his opponent. Maybe a weakness or limitation." Said Tai, somewhat hoping Yang won't try something as dangerous as this.
"This lad certainly loves to take the risk." Port stoically strokes his mustache.
The man didn't know why he was smiling but just scoffed and began his attack again. "You won't be smiling much longer!"
After a short fast passed hand-to-hand combat and this time the man grabbed Gon's right hand.
"Whoa…" Yang sucks in her breath, admiring their hand-to-hand combat capabilities.
'One more hit to send you to hell!' The man mentally shouted, seeing that he would win as he sued the same trick again and punched Gon in the stomach, expecting him to get knocked out.
However, instead of the Gon passing out, he glares at the man catching him off-guard. In retaliation, Gon tries to punch him in the face, but the man lets go of his arm, dropping him and giving him the chance to escape.
'Impossible!' The man mentally said as he chases Gon. 'That's was the hardest hit so far! He shouldn't have been able to counter. But since he did, that means he kept the damage to a minimum.'
"Only an idiot would fall for the same trick twice." Said Weiss.
"Only a fool would use the same trick twice." Blake refutes her colleague's view.
Maria then chimes in. "Both are foolish in their own right."
An image of Gon's Aura showing that he focused on his defense on his chest rather than his arm. 'In other words, he blocked me without relying on Aura. He guessed I didn't intend to set off a bomb?'
"So, that's what the kid was trying to confirm." Qrow slightly nods, "Say, what's the kid's name anyway?"
"His name is Gon Freecss"
The scene changes back to the chase.
'No, that wasn't a guess.' He realized as he continues to chase Gon.
"Not so smart, are you?" Read Neo's sign.
"Brushed it off as a coincidence." Roman shrugs, "It happens."
As Gon ran, he thinks back to his training.
/-/
"Hey, Bisky… How does Genthru avoid being burned by his own bombs?"
The scene now changes to a rocky terrain area where Gon and Bisky are sitting together on a rock, and the second boy was training with his two yo-yos.
"A flashback, huh?" Yang relaxes in her chair. "Guess we're getting some context."
"That's quite simple," Bisky answered. "He shrouds his hand in Aura that's stronger than the explosion."
"Oh… I get it." Gon nodded in understanding.
"It's a technique that requires a large aura reserve," Bisky explains as the second boy was making a double loop de loop with his yo-yos. Interestingly he was doing while the string is connected to rings strapped on his wrists while his hand is wrapped with bandages.
"So, the Bomber's true name is Genthru," Clover notes.
"A technique that requires large aura reserve, huh? I'm guessing the explosion acts as a double edge sword." Jaune mutters a few incoherent words to himself before falling silent.
"This is a good opportunity," Bisky said as she and Gon watched the boy's impressive skill with the yo-yos. "By now, you should be able to tell."
"Nice yo-yo tricks." Sun compliments the boy's handling of his yo-yos.
Gon raised his left arm then Bisky caught it with her right hand that was filled with Aura. The moment that she did, Gon activated his Aura.
"Excellent reaction! You've almost perfected Gyo." She praises the boy as she lets go, making them both deactivate their Aura. "One more time, then."
Glynda wrote something down for herself. "Reflex training. I've been feeling that some of my students are faltering in that department."
They repeated the same action. However, Gon felt something different this time.
"Huh?" He simply said.
"Could you tell the difference?" Bisky asked.
"Yeah, you used less aura the second time."
"Okay, you pass." She praised him again as she lets go. "You'll have an easier time with him if you can tell the difference."
This caught the boy's attention as he pays attention.
"When Genthru prepares Little Flower, he will shroud his hand with Gyo. If he's just faking and planning to attack you somewhere else, he probably won't use Gyo. If you can tell if his hand is covered with Gyo when he grabs you, it'll be simpler for you to know which attack you should block."
"She's knowledgeable on this subject." Clover comments on Bisky's understanding of aura. He has a sneaking suspicion that the little girl named Brisky isn't what she appears to be.
Ozpin hums thoughtfully, having similar suspicion about Brisky. "Indeed. Wise for her age, I might add."
/-/
With the flashback ending, the scene returns to Gon, and the now named Genthru running on an opened area of the forest. Both stopped.
"So that's it," Genthru said. "You know about my Gyo. Cunning."
"Hm. He's smarter than he acts." Roman admits. Compared to the regular goons and thugs within criminal enterprises and on the streets, Genthru would be a cut above.
Genthru raised both his hands which ignited with his red Aura, signaling that he is using his ability to its full capability.
Nora points at the red aura, "He's going to do that explodey touch thing again!"
"It's much liked a semblance." Said Fox.
"Let me repeat myself. The shallow strategy you're using will backfire." Gon narrowed his eyes as he listens. "If you're caught by Little Flower when you aren't using enough aura to defend yourself, a hit to the face will blow off your eyes, nose, and mouth with no hope of repair. A hit to the arms or legs will incinerate skin, severely damaging any nerves or muscle. You'll have no fingers or toes left."
Glynda scowls, "He's not hesitating to maim and kill a child."
"Maybe not, but he's being lenient for the time being." Ironwood clutches his prosthetic hand when he heard Genthru blowing an arm off. "That boy still won't back down."
Even after the gruesome description, Genthru continues. "It's not possible for you to use Gyo to guard against every attack that uses Gyo. Now what? I'm not interested in continuing this. Fighting you have made me see something… You have talent and a promising future. And many other chances."
"The agreement made between the two is that should either side surrenders, they will hand over their Book." Penny immediately recalls the deal between Gon and Genthru. "He's trying to dissuade the boy named Gon into surrendering without having to fight!"
Winter nods, "Yes. That is a viable tactic."
"Winning a fight without fighting is a… More favorable and desirable choice. If you ask me." Pietro nervously readjusts his glasses. "The boy shows talent and promises. I hope he and his opponent don't take things too far."
"Don't you think it's meaningless to throw all that away just for your pride?" Genthru said with an expression that looked like a concerned face, but on the inside was an expression of pure annoyance, wanting to end the fight immediately. 'Just give up, stupid kid!'
"He just wants an easy win." Ruby angrily huffs.
"More like he really wants all those cards of his," Oscar replies.
Despite the false claim, Gon never wavered as he remembered more of Bisky's words. 'If he makes likes, he's going to use both hands to blow you up, that's a red light. Then it'll be time to stick to the plan.'
"Still on track with their plans." Emerald notes, "They definitely have some leverage against that guy."
Gon remembered the plan perfectly and understood the situation. However, he thought otherwise as he stood straight. 'Sorry, Bisky and Killua. I'm going to be selfish here. I have to give it a try… Because I just had a great idea!'
"Annnd… There goes all their plans." Marrow groused.
"Stick with the plan, they say." Elm chuckles, "Let's see what this great idea of his is."
The injured boy clenches his fist and prepares his plan. "If you seriously mean that…" Gon quickly retook his stance and shouted at Genthru, ready for what's to come. "You should surrender, Genthru!"
Genthru took a moment of silence, and then he straightened his glasses with an unimpressed expression.
A few of the audience can't help but laugh at Genthru's reaction.
"A shame…" He then raises both his hands as the Aura began to burn brightly, walking calmly towards Gon. "Let me show you… That there are some things worse than death."
Tai looks on with a grim expression. "No more playing around."
"I'll blow up both our arms." He threateningly informs the boy. "Use Gyo to protect the one you want to keep. After that, I'll blow up your remaining arm and left leg. Use Gyo to protect the one you want to keep. And so on… Until you're out of limbs."
Despite the threat, Gon did not waver, nor did he back down.
"Go ahead and try!" He shouted in defiance.
This kid's either has something up his sleeve or is crazy like that guy said. Mercury already had his legs taken from him via a horrible medical procedure. He rather has that than getting an entire limb to get blown off in a fight.
"Very well," Genthru said he quickly dashes towards Gon, immediately taking both his arms with his own two hands. Genthru gave a sadistic smile while Gon showed not a single shred of fear but defiance.
"Take this!" Without a second thought, Genthru activates his power, and both of Gon's arms exploded.
"Don't wanna see someone get their arms blown off again!" Ruby turns away but was somewhat late due to the speed the combatants were moving at.
"Wait! What was that?" By chance, Oscar managed to see something just when the bombs went off.
Genthru watches as he was pleased by the results. Only to be suddenly to feel a sudden jolt that made his vision blurry, and he heard a ringing noise.
Slowly moving away from Gon with difficulty, he was tremendously confused about having such a hard time focusing on Gon. 'Wh-What happened?'
Suddenly he hears something wet that dropped on the ground he slowly looks down and notices that it was blood. His blood dripped from his mouth, and he began to feel a growing pain on his chin.
Pyrrha lets out a slight gasp, "He's injured too! Was it a backlash?"
'Blood? Damage? He landed a hit?' He says in his head in complete disbelief.
"First comes rock!" Snapping out from his stutter, he slowly looks up to Gon, and his eyes widened, seeing what was happening before him.
Gon was in a crouching position and positioned his arms behind his body, blocking Genthru's view of his hands. Still, he can clearly see the power and amount of wind it was causing, building behind Gon, showing that he was gathering a tremendous amount of his Aura, which was evident in the form of a fist.
"This… Is an impressive amount of aura he's emitting!" Glynda exclaims.
'Crap…' Genthru mentally swore, realizing the position he was in now as he desperately tried to move his body. 'Move… Dodge!'
"Rock…" Gon says as he prepares his attack. "Paper…"
Genthru manages to move his left slightly one step back, which caused him to stumble and on a rock on the ground, making him slowly fall back.
"Rock!" Gon shouted as he now launches his fist filled with Aura towards Genthru.
However, Genthru's fall was lucky enough to avoid Gon's attack as he fell to the ground lying on his back.
This caused Gon to stop where he was and cancel his attack. He hissed in pain as he stumbled a bit back as he cradled his arms.
'Did he hit me?' Genthru mentally questioned as he laid down on the ground, still confused at what happened. 'No, I tripped.'
"Missed at a crucial moment." Qrow lets out a sigh, "Bad luck on the kid's part."
Clover nods, "Yeah. And good luck on his part."
"But… What happened?" Velvet looks around to see if anyone has an answer about the sudden turn of events that placed Gon at an advantage.
"You shall understand soon."
'What was that? What just happened?' Genthru questioned as he struggled to get back on his feet, but the moment he correctly had a good look at Gon, his eyes widened with an expression that showed a look of pure disbelief and shock.
'Now I understand… Th-This kid…'
The reason why he was so shocked was that right before him, the young boy who was glaring at him in defiance while clearly showing he was in pain was right arm severely burned to the point that you could see the muscles under the skin and his left was missing a left hand showing that it was burned off.
'He sacrificed both his hands!'
"… Oh, fuck." Mercury sharply exhaled, "That's really hardcore. Shit…"
"He… Crippled himself to gain an advantage, but lost it just now." Glynda said softly in horror. "To be able to remain standing despite all of that."
Ironwood holds onto his armrest tightly but didn't say anything.
Genthru quickly yet slowly but stumbly got back on his feet while his mind was still racing at what has happened.
'But the damage wasn't distributed evenly!' He noticed that fact as he tried to balance himself up. 'He probably gave up completely his left hand, protect his right hand with 30% of his aura, and focused the remaining 70% on his legs… to attack me!'
A flashback showing Genthru blowing up Gon's hands but in a third person's point of view showing Gon's right leg was filled with his aura and performed a perfect side kick straight to Genthru's chin.
"So, that's what I saw." Oscar thought he saw something blurred amid the explosion.
Weiss grimace, recalling that she also Gon moved at the last second. "I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me."
An image of Genthru's silhouette was displayed, showing his Aura covering his body.
'I use aura both to explode targets and to shield my hands from the blast.' The silhouette's aura now mainly focused on both of its hands in a shape of a large circle while the aura around the body was layered thinned. 'If I use both hands, I won't have much left for the rest of myself. He took advantage of that!'
Clover was impressed with Genthru's analytical mind. "Even with a disorientating kick to the chin, he's still able to analytical piece things together."
"So, that's what happened." Velvet said softly, "That was a huge gamble."
'Still, no one sane would actually try that!' The realization shocked Genthru to the core and even terrified him.
Not because of how clever it was, but how the young boy was willing to go just to take him down. Hell, he can't even hide the expression he's making on his face.
Cinder's eyes twinkle with amusement. "He called that boy insane earlier. It seems that he was right."
Back to Gon's point of view, he was still holding his ground but couldn't help but wince at the pain of his arms, especially the loss of his left arm.
'I gave him a pretty good scare!' Gon couldn't help but grin at his achievement and quickly hissed as he held his severed limb. 'Damn… This hurts like hell.'
"Yeah. No duh! One of your arms is burned off!" Yang said out loud and threw her hands into the air.
She can't believe that someone younger than Ruby would do something so dangerous and still continue the fight after receiving severe damage. She certainly can't imagine herself doing something like that. Her fighting style requires both arms to fight.
'But… I'm going for it!' Gon clenched his remaining hand to a fist. Now that he achieved his selfish desire, he can now continue with the original plan.
Gon chuckled, albeit a forced one, as he tried to suppress the cry of pain from his arms. "I'm done…"
Genthru, hearing this tensed up. 'He's done? Is he giving up?' After hearing those words, a sense of relief was flooding into his body. 'Of course… That makes sense. He's lost his left hand, and his right is badly injured.' He thought as he begins to see the logic in the boy's decision. 'And he managed to land a hit on me. He must be satisfied now.'
"Best time to give up and hope your life would be spared." Said Raven, somewhat callously one might add.
"I'm done being selfish…" Gon said with a confident grin catching Genthru's attention after he wiped off the blood from his mouth. "Time to get serious! Let's do this, Genthru!"
"What? Now he's going to take it seriously?!" Nora nearly roars the last word out, "Your arms are crisped! Are you insane?!"
Marrow had the most incredulous look plastered on his face, "Does this kid have a death wish?!"
After hearing such a declaration, Genthru couldn't help but took a couple of steps back, and the sense of relief he felt a moment dwindled, making his shock and fear slowly grew back.
'Th-This kid's totally insane!'
Without a second thought, Gon called out his Book again. "Book!"
This caught Genthru's attention.
Gon took a card out showing the back of it blue and a green and white circle on the middle of it from his Book and raised it up
"I wonder if this was all part of their original plan." Ozpin muses, watching everything play out while he takes a sip from his mug.
'A card?' Genthru questioned in his mind. 'He shouldn't have anything to concern me.' But then suddenly the card began to glow then with a poof smoke came out from it in a short moment and when the smoke cleared it looked as if nothing changed, but Genthru knew otherwise. 'The card transformed? Paladin's Necklace?! What is he planning?'
Jaune scours the screen for any changes, but couldn't see any. "What just happened?"
"Your guesses are as good as mines." Oobleck scratches his head and pushed his glasses closer to his eyes.
"This is your last chance to surrender." Genthru snapped out from his thoughts and focused on Gon. "Once I use this, you could end up dead."
'You're clearly bluffing!' Genthru screamed in his head but took a moment to think this properly. 'No, wait… This is my chance.' Mentally calming himself down as he called out his Book.
"Book." Like Gon's Book, his appeared in the same fashion.
"I give up," Genthru said as his Book opened and began to offer his cards. "Obviously, you're never going to surrender. Take them."
Penny gasps and looks angry, "He's going against their agreement! He's going to cheat!"
"Unless there's some sort of magical binding agreement or oversight, I think anybody could go back on their words." Roman retorts with an annoyed huff. What is with the kids these days? Too naïve!
Gon's raised his hand down but did not let his guard down.
'I'll silence him.' Genthru planned as Gon began to walk up to him slowly. 'Crushing his windpipe and knocking him out would be best. 'Then I can take the cards from his binder.'
Jaune gulps, "Eyes on the prize…"
"I have one request," Genthru said as Gon was close to him.
"What is it?" Gon asked.
"Could you leave me this card?" Genthru said he slightly turned his Book to the right said facing him, making sure Gon doesn't have a good look as he points to a particular card.
Without even hesitating, Gon walks up to Genthru's Book to look at it. Leaving the boy close enough for Genthru's range.
"No! What the fuck are you doing?!" Tai's unexpected, and frustrated outburst shocked all of his peers.
Genthru clenches his right fist in a swift moment and does a powerful uppercut straight to Gon's neck, causing the boy to spittle blood.
As Genthru draws his fist back, causing Gon to hunch down, leaving the back of his neck exposed, making Genthru delivers a powerful knife-hand strike to him.
Half of the audience sharply gasped in shock at the brutal attack. Genthru's attack might not be intended to kill, but it could very much well have been regardless.
Ozpin narrows his eyes, "It's not over yet."
'Bah…' Genthru mentally swore, feeling that the last attack did not connect. 'He blocked my second attack with Gyo! But I did manage to crush his windpipe! He won't be able to use his Book or Gain anymore.'
Genthru smirks, thinking he could cripple the boy and give his chances of victory higher as he watched him stumble.
He had no idea how wrong he was.
'Genthru…' Gon mentally said despite being in pain, his will to fight has not once staggered. 'You have made the worst mistake you could make.'
As he stumbled, the card that Gon held fell off from his hands, showing a picture of a large glass bottle filled with some kind of liquid with the description 'No.14170, Gasoline'.
"He has a card up his sleeve. Almost literally!" Qrow said with realization. The entire thing was essentially Gon baiting his opponent into overconfidence!
'One minute!' Gon thought with determination. The card then transformed into a giant glass fill with gasoline.
Quickly staking his balance, he twisted his body and delivered a punch to the glass bottle causing it to shatter and spilling all the gasoline on Genthru.
Genthru quickly used his arms to block the liquid, only for it to be all over his body already.
'What's this smell?' He mentally questions at the surprise attack.
"Um, what is that?" Oscar asks the Hosts.
"Gasoline is a type of fuel. It is highly flammable." Their reply caused a few eyes to widen.
Gon quickly took a distance away from him with his Book floating in front of him.
'He can't use Little Flower any longer.' Raising his remaining fist with determination, he was now ready to take Genthru down. 'I'm going to take him down!'
"Book," Genthru said as he disabled his Book while not looking bothered at all as he chuckled. "Oh, so this is gasoline… Very clever." Genthru praised the boy at his wit. "True, I cannot use Little Flower now… However, I have another ability, Countdown."
"Both of them are in at a delicate impasse. Whatever more 'abilities' he has can break it." Said Port with his eyebrows furrowed.
Genthru raised his hand and pointed his finger towards Gon as he explains his second ability. "The ability that lets me set a bomb when I touch someone and say 'Bomber'. The bomb can only be disarmed by touching me and saying, 'I caught the Bomber'. This one is ten times stronger than Little Flower. You won't be able to block it with Nen."
"What kind of childish power is that?" Weiss skeptically asks.
"Much like a semblance, an individual can develop unique abilities based on several things. Like their personality and passion."
"All the activation requirements have been met." The Bomber said as he lowered his arm and walked towards Gon. "If I touch you and say, 'Bomber,' the countdown will begin." He stops walking until he was close to Gon and raised both his arms. "Try to run away… If you still have strength."
"It's a dangerous game of tag." Ruby curls up and hugs her legs.
Yang nods in agreement, "Like some sort of children's game with an evil twist to it."
However, without Genthru realizing it, Gon was also done with his preparations. 'The requirements have been met… For me!' He took his punching stance and repeated to prepare his punch again. "First comes rock…"
Genthru gasps and quickly jumps back as Gon's Aura spiked around his right fist. 'This is his earlier attack…' The Bomber recalls as he took a safe distance away. 'If I get too close, I'm done for. Is he trying to keep me back?'
"A dangerous game… That seems to be the entire theme." Ren notes.
Yang numbly nods, "I wonder how much of a punch he can pack."
"Rock… Paper…" Gon chanted as he prepares his punch.
Except that he didn't plan on punching Genthru, he punched the ground. "Rock!" The ground shook, and to Genthru's shock, the entire area began to crack and crash down.
Looking at what's under the earth, there are layers of wood tied together, making a makeshift floor that they were standing on. The destroying of the floor caused Genthru and Gon to sink into the giant pitfall that was clearly made by Gon and his friends.
"It's a trap!" Nora shouted as she sprung from her seat.
'A pitfall?!' Genthru shouts in his head in disbelief as he fell in. 'But he's falling with me!'
Dirt, wood, and boulders that held the floor all crashed down to the pitfall. Soon, the cloud of dirt cleared leaving Gon and Genthru standing without a problem.
The Bomber quickly looks up and sees how deep the pitfall is. 'It's deep… I can't climb back up.' He mentally studies his surroundings. 'But he should be in the same boat.'
"It's like an underground arena ring." Roman remarks. He'd seen small-time underground fighting rings before. Brutish lots they were.
He looks back at where the boy is but only to find that he's gone. 'He's gone.'
"Genthru…" A gurgled voice said, causing Genthru to turn behind him to find Gon in the small entrance in the pitfall. Plus, his Book was out, and he was holding another card.
He then threw the card up high in the air, causing Genthru to look at it.
Gon then recalls what happens when you remove a card away from its user.
'If a card is removed from the binder for a minute, it reverts to an item.' With that, Gon hid in the entrance, losing sight of his body.
Harriet frowns, "What did he throw up?"
The card up in the air showed an image of a rock, then it quickly glowed, then turned into a large flash of light, transforming it into a giant rock as big as the pitfall itself.
"A rock?!" Genthru gasped in shock and horror, and what's worse, the said rock was falling on top of him.
"He's trapped and about to be crushed!" Penny squeaks at Genthru's impending doom. "All of this to lure him into a trap!"
The rock crashed down into the ground causing the area to shake in. The outside birds close flew away in fear, and the pitfall was half-filled by the stone.
A portion of the audience winced, expecting to be met with a gory scene.
"That's one way to end things, rocking it out." Yang finally utters a pun, albeit it's the most horrid one so far.
Back in the pit, Genthru was alive but gasping for air.
Robyn leans back in her seat, "He barely escaped with his life."
He had quickly run to the entrance where Gon hid. The rock was blocking his path out, but that didn't matter to the Bomber since he was leaning his back at the blocked entrance and was sitting on the ground trying to calm himself down.
"First comes rock…"
Blake sucks in her breath, "Victory goes to the boy."
Genthru gasps, recognizing the voice, and looks up to see Gon preparing his punch again and, what's worse, he was very close to his range.
"Rock… Paper…"
Too tired, shocked, and no way out, Genthru panicked. "W-W-Wait!" He began to beg the boy. "I surrender! I surrender!"
Vernal shakes her head, "Bye, bye."
"Give it to him!" Yang cheers.
Nora also voiced her approval. "Payback!"
But it fell on deaf ears as Gon finished the fight.
"Rock!" He screamed as he delivered his most potent punch straight towards the Bomber's gut, causing him to spit out blood and his glasses falling out.
As Gon's Aura died down, Genthru fell unconscious.
"Um… Is he dead?" Ruby weakly asks.
"No. He is unconscious. The people of this world, especially those possessing Nen are much sturdier than one would expect."
Gon stood straight, then took a deep breath then shouts one word for his victory. "Osu!"
The scene quickly fades to black and the lights return to the room.
"Well, that was brutal." Emerald snarks while Mercury shrugs.
"It's interesting how they don't use their aura to completely protect themselves." Throughout the entire fight, Vine noticed how they concentrate their aura into a particular spot instead of completely enveloping themselves in Aura. "I wonder why…"
Ren raises his hand out of habit, "You mentioned that there were types of Nen, or types of auras. What type of aura do those two have?"
"Oh, yeah! I've completely forgotten about all those category things." Jaune's facepalms. He was actually planning on asking halfway through the viewing but got sidetracked with the fight.
"Gon is an Enhancer. They use their aura to increase their natural abilities of an object or one's own body." The Hosts explains, "Genthru is a Conjurer. They are capable of creating physical, independent materials out of one's aura. However, that is the basics of Conjuration. There is more complexity to it. One that is best to read."
Robyn rubs her chin, "That would explain the boy's insane physical strength."
"And the Bomber's strange abilities to make things explode." Clover further added, "I get the feeling we only see the tip of the iceberg here."
"Indeed. We will allow a brief extended before the next viewing so that you may read through the materials we provided."
"Oh, by the way." Ruby waves her hand, "What are we watching next."
"Terrorism."
Everyone pauses at that.
"Terrorism…?" Blake gulps, flashing back to the White Fang and their current activities.
"Yes. It is something all of you are familiar with."
