So we were still comparing our dorm rooms - still on the boys' side so far, but it seemed like the girls were going to share theirs as well. All the dorm rooms, man. I'm never gonna get any sleep.
"So, we're here to decide the King of rooms!" said Ashido, who seemed weirdly into this idea.
"King of rooms?" said Jirou.
"It's fine if we don't do this, really," muttered Ojiro.
Nobody listened to him. And we were off to the next floor up. Up to the fourth floor, on the boys' side.
"This floor's got Bakugou, Kirishima and Shoji, right?" Uraraka asked.
"Where is Bakugou, by the way?" Iida asked Kirishima.
"He said, 'This is dumb. I'm going to bed,' Kirishima told us. "I'm getting tired, too," he added. So can I go to bed now?
"Then your room's next, Kirishima!" cried Hagakure. "Let's pick up the pace!"
"Whatever you say," he mumbled. "You girls probably won't get it though. My super manly room!"
His room had weights and a punching bag, a clock with muscly arms, inspirational posters, and a camo style bedspread. It seemed he was right, and that the girls did not in fact get it.
"In the "room you wouldn't want your boyfriend to have" rankings, you're second," snapped Hagakure.
"It's so macho in here!" Uraraka cried out. "I'm getting sole!
Kirishima smiled and gave her a thumbs up. "You get it!"
"Next! Shoji!"
"Really, there's nothing interesting," he said, calmly.
Nothing in there at all! Even less furniture, somehow, then there had been when we moved in. Just a desk and a pile of cushions.
Acid shook her head. "Nothing interesting? More like nothing at all!"
"You have a really simple style," I observed.
"Yeah, ever since I was little, I've never cared much about owning stuff," said Shoji, pretty deadpan like this wasn't a big deal.
"Let's head up! Fifth floor boys are next!"
"We'll start with Sero!"
"We're seriously going to every room?"
We hit the elevators and made it to the top. Hero's room was indeed first, and it was actually rather nice. It had lovely brown bedspreads, a hammock, new drawers, impressive interior design!
"How exotic!" cried Ashido, clapping her hands together
"I's lovely!" Uraraka added.
"Never guessed you'd be so stylish, Sero!" said Jirou.
"Hey hey hey! Just call me Sero Surprise!" he chuckled out
"Next, next! Todoroki!" called Ashido.
Yeah, time for my room. Whatever. At this point I didn't really care. "Let's just get this over with. I'm tired," I said, opening his doorway. Everyone gasped.
That day, thanks to a rather involved experience with Hatsume, I had ended up completely remodeling the basic design of my room, to suit me better as a Japanese style.
"It's even been differently built!" they cried out in shock.
"My family home is traditionally Japanese, so I don't like modern flooring," I explained.
"Who cares why? How'd remodel your room in one day?" cried Kaminari.
"I worked hard," I answered him. That's all.
"What's up with this guy?" cried Kaminari.
"He sure is going places," said Hagakure
"Pretty boys always have tricks up their sleeves," I heard Sato grumbling. Pretty boys?
"Next! The last boy is - "
"Me," said Sato. "My room's kind of boring, really." It was - just a normal one, but with some baking supplies on the side table.
"Every rom's pretty much the same after Todoroki's," Kirishima pointed out.
"Something sure smells good, though. What is it?"
"Oh, no!" cried Sato. I was in such a rush that I must've forgotten to finish this! I was baking a chiffon cake! I wanted to share it with everyone."
"It'd really be better with frosting," sat Sato all apologetically, holding up a really summers looking cake on a plate. "But - want some?"
"YES!" the girls chorused. "This is unexpected coming from you!" Kaminari and Mineta were crying out, no fair! while the girls and the rest of us enjoyed the cake. IT was a relief to get a little sugar in my system; I pepped up just a little.
"Tastyyy!" cried Uraraka. "So light and fluffy!"
"This blows Sero's surprise right out of the water!" said Ashido.
"What a charming hobby you have, Sato!" said Yaoyorozu. "We'll have to get together to combine your confections with my tea!"
"I wasn't ready for this reaction…I only make these things to help train my quirk," said Sato, who had gone really red for some reason.
"Darn. Guess we should've expected something tasty from someone called Sugarcane," grumbled Sero.
"What timing, though," said Kirishima. "These are good."
"That's it for the guys - yum!" said Ashido.
"Next up….is…yum - us!" said Hagakure.
"I could go all night now, that sugar woke me right up!" said Kaminari.
"We have to head down to the first floor to get to the girls' wing," Ojiro observed.
"Yum - so let's go downstairs."
"Do we have to? yum," muttered Jirou.
"We're really seeing everyone's room? Is that ok?"
"Should be ok. Probably."
We'd arrived at Jirou's room. She was actually blushing. "This is really embarrassing," she mumbled as she let us in.
A band room, with musical instruments all over the place, music lines on the bedspread, a bunch of band posters.
"There's even more instruments than we thought!" gasped Kaminari.
"You're one rocking girl, Jirou!" cried Hagakure.
"Can you really play all these? asked Uraraka.
"Somewhat, yeah," she said, blushing.
"Nothing girly about this room," smirked Kaminari.
"Non, mademoiselle," was Toyama's contribution.
Jirou zapped them both with her headphone jacks. "Moving on. Next!"
"Next is me, hagakure!" said Hagakure. Her room was super cute and full of stuffed animals. "Well?!" she asked.
"Oh, oh!" said Kaminari. "Kinda what I'd expect from a girl. Pretty exciting!"
Ashido's was next as we went to the fourth floor. "Ta-dah! Pretty cute, right?" she said. It was full of pinks and reds and a cute bedspread and a hearts carpet.
Next door, was Uraraka. "Welcome to my boring room," she said. Basically just a my fan, tea set and cookies; tv table, gravity poster, simple bedspread and matching carpet from the drugstore; no curtains, and just a few other decorations, like a cactus and family photo.
"Walking around and seeing all these girls' rooms like it's no big deal…it feels wrong," said Ojiro.
"The forbidden garden," was Tokoyami's response.
"Up next is Asui…hey, where is she anyway?" asked Midoriya..
"Oh, I think TSuyu wasn't feeling well," said Uraraka.
"No reason to bother her, then" said Kaminari. "WE'll check out her room another time.
"Last up is Yaoyorozu!"
"Before we go in…let me say that I miscalculated," said Yaoyorozu shyly. "Compared to all your rooms, which are so unique and original…mine's a bit cramped."
She'd tried to stuff her whole queen sized bed into the dorm. There was barely room to move among all the books and fancy furniture. But I could understand, the need to keep things the same.
"Huge! But cramped! What happened, Yaoyorozu?"
"This is the same stuff I use back home," she blushed. "But I never expected our rooms here would be quite so small."
What a princess!
Back in the living room, Ashido finished the drawing. "Ok. Has everyone finished voting?! Remember, don't vote for yourself! With Bakugou and Tsu out of the running, the provisional first e ver king of rooms is -with six total votes! The student whose room crushed our expectations with its sweet originality is - Rikido Sato!"
"Hah?" Sato cried.
"By th way, you got every single girl's vote!" added Ashido. "The main reason! That yummy cake!"
"What about the room?!" cried the other boys
"No decent would-be hero bribes people!"cried Kaminari and Mineta, both being mad.
"What're you talking about? I'm just honored!" said Sato.
"Are we done here? Can I go to bed now?" I asked, relieved that things were wrapping up.
"No! You mustn't forget to brush your teeth first, after eating that cake!" cried Iida.
"Guess we should wait until it's all over," said Deku. I turned to go, but then Uraraka called my name.
"Todoroki, hold on! Deku, you too. And Iida. Also, Kirishima and Yaoyorozu. Can you guys come with me?"
She led us outside, to find Asui waiting for us on the lawn.
She stood there, looking serious and miserable and like she was trying not to cry. There was a long silence before she finally spoke.
"I usually don't hold my tongue. But sometimes I find myself at a loss for words. Remember what I said, back at the hospital?"
"If we break the law, then we're no better than the villains"
Midoriya, looking down, mumbled, "Yeah."
"I didn't hold back," said Asui slowly. "And the way I said it was kinda harsh."
Uraraka reached out to her and stroked her hair. "Tsuyu," she said.
"So when I heard this morning that you guys went anyway," she said, and her voice was starting to break. "I was really shocked. Shocked about how I tried to stop you. About how worthless I am. All these nasty feelings started to well up in me…I suddenly had no idea what to say. Like there was no way I could go on, chatting as if nothing had happened." She was really and truly crying now. "And it broke my heart. So now…even if I'm still not sure about everything, I had to say something…because I want to be able to hang out with everyone again." She did her best to wipe her eyes. I felt pretty damn guilty then.
Uraraka said, "It's not just you, Tsuyu. We were all super uneasy about it. And we all want to start over again. That's why…" She stepped forward and pumped my fist into the air. "That's why we do stuff like the king of rooms. Because we know how everyone's feeling. We're not gonna get mad or anything. WE just want…this is hard to explain, but…we wanna go back to when we could all just smile together!"
Kirishima burst out, "Tsuyu! I'm so sorry! Thanks for opening up!"
He ran forward to give her a hug. Yaoyorozu jumped in as well, crying out "Asui!"
"As!" said Iida, then corrected himself. "i mean - Tsuyu!"
"Asu-Tsuyu!" ssaid Deku.
I murmured, "You don't have to feel bad.
We got in a group hug, and Tsuyu kept crying, but this time like relieved tears. And we were able…like before. Like always. Aiming to be heroes, and pushing each other to succeed, in our everyday lives.
