A couple of days later, Chloe and Lucifer went back to the precinct for the first time since the truth came out. They took another two days to get the proof to have Malcolm arrested. They had a paper trail of transactions between Malcolm and his accomplice, who Lucifer had scared enough that they were sure would also admit to everything that happened.

Chloe and Lucifer immediately made a beeline for the Lieutenant's office as soon as they entered the police station. Chloe knocked on the Lieutenant's open door before they stepped inside.

Lieutenant Monroe immediately looked up from her desk. "Decker. Tell me that the two of you are here because I can finally put Malcolm Graham where he belongs."

Lucifer smiled and put a folder on her desk. "That should be all you need, Lieutenant."

"I'll take your word for it," she said as she stood up. "Let's go. Luckily, Graham hasn't been in since you told me what he did, or I might not have been able to stomach it this long, but he's here now."

Chloe eagerly followed her boss to the squad room. She wanted to see Malcolm arrested. She wanted to watch as he was cuffed. The only thing that would give her more satisfaction is if she could do it herself, which was, unfortunately, against protocol.

When they got out there, they saw Dan in front of Malcolm's desk looking pissed.

"Get out of my face, Dan. I just lost my wife and kid," Malcolm said in sour tone.

"Yeah? Thanks to you, I lost my wife and kid! What the hell, man? We were friends. You came into my house and took my daughter?" Dan asked.

Malcolm immediately stiffened. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Graham, stand up," Lieutenant Monroe ordered as she, Chloe, and Lucifer approached. The Lieutenant also waved an officer over to join them.

"Lieutenant, what's going on?" Malcolm asked as he stood up.

"Malcolm Graham, you are under arrest for the abduction of Beatrice Espinoza, aka, Beatrice Morningstar. Officer Johnson, read him his rights and relieve him of his badge and gun," Monroe said.

Malcolm looked at Lucifer as he was handcuffed. "We had a deal."

"The only deal I made with you was not to get involved once you were where you belonged. You should be thankful for that deal, as nothing else would've stopped me once I found out that the child whose life you ruined was mine," Lucifer said. He would love to make sure Malcolm's Hell was extra terrifying for what he did to Beatrice, but he made a deal, and he would not go back on that.

"You're going to pay for what you did to my child!" Chloe snarled. She hated this man so much. She would love nothing more than to empty her gun into him. Not only had Malcolm made her life hell, but her daughter had been abused because of him. She might have died if Lucifer hadn't found her.

"That is a given," Lucifer said.

"Get him out of here," Monroe told the officer once Graham was read his rights and she had his badge and gun.

They all watched as Malcolm was taken away. Then Dan pointed to Lucifer. "What about him? I want him arrested for kidnapping my daughter, and I want my daughter returned to us immediately."

Lucifer laughed. "Good luck with that, Detective Douche."

"Detective Espinoza, there is no evidence whatsoever to support that Mr. Morningstar knew anything about this. He had no dealings with Detective Graham prior to coming to consult here. There are, however, records that he went through the legal system to obtain custody and adopt the child," Monroe said. She looked into the adoption as soon as she found out that the child was Beatrice Espinoza. She didn't think Lucifer kidnapped her, but she wanted to make sure. He'd done everything legally. She suspected he might have used influence to push the adoption through quicker than normal and cut through some red tape, but he wouldn't be the first rich person to do that.

"You're grasping at straws, Dan. Lucifer didn't even obtain custody of Beatrice until two years after Malcolm took her. He saved her life! You should be thanking him," Chloe said.

Grudgingly, Dan had to admit that there wasn't any proof of Lucifer's involvement at the moment, but he still wasn't convinced he wasn't involved. However, he couldn't really do anything about it now. "Fine, but I want my daughter back now. Obviously any adoption is invalid. Turn her over now, Morningstar."

"No," was all Lucifer said.

"Good God, Dan, do you have any concern at all for Beatrice? She's been through hell, partly because of you, and now you want to rip her away from the only parent she knows?" Chloe asked in disgust. This was why she couldn't allow Dan to have any say in her daughter's life. He couldn't put her needs first. He'd already proved that when he got drunk and let Malcolm take her. Now he was proving he hadn't learned a thing from that by refusing to see what she needed.

"Chloe, I'm doing this for her. She's better off with us, her actual parents, then this reckless, immoral, ass," Dan said.

Lucifer laughed loudly. "I'm reckless. I know where my child is at all times. When's the last time you knew where she was. That's right, five years. And unlike the detective, it's your fault you didn't know."

"He's right. You've got no business calling anyone reckless, Dan," Chloe said.

"This happened because of Malcolm. He took her," Dan argued. He was sick of being blamed for this. He didn't know it was going to happen. Why should he take the blame for someone stealing his kid?

"And you gave him the chance to! Your negligence is why he had the opportunity to walk out of our home with our child and sell her like a piece of furniture!" Chloe snapped.

"Fine, I made a mistake, but I'm not going to allow this man to hang onto our daughter," Dan said before turning to the lieutenant. "You have proof that she's not his kid. He's admitted it. You have to remove her, or at least call social services."

"Before you respond, Lieutenant, allow me to show you something," Lucifer said before pulling a document from his suit coat and handing it to her.

Lieutenant Monroe took the document and read it carefully. "It appears you're wrong, Detective. A judge has signed a temporary custody order in this matter, leaving the child with Lucifer Morningstar for the time being."

"What? You can't be serious," Dan said as he grabbed the paper from the lieutenant's hands.

"This just became a civil matter. It's not my problem. You'll have to deal with it yourselves, and not in my precinct," Monroe said firmly before walking away.

Dan glared at Lucifer. "You can't keep us from our daughter. She's ours!"

"'Us'?" Lucifer repeated with a smirk. "Who said anything about the detective? She can see Beatrice whenever she wants. She could move in if she wanted. You, however, are not welcome. Beatrice doesn't even want to see you."

Chloe looked at Lucifer in surprise. This was the first she'd heard about the possibility of moving in with him. He hadn't mentioned it to her. Under most circumstances, she wouldn't even consider such a thing, but being under the same roof as Beatrice was very appealing.

"Oh, I'm sure you told he awful things about me," Dan sneered.

"No one had to tell her anything about you, Dan. She met you, and if you remember, you weren't exactly friendly. You called her a brat and scared the hell out of her," Chloe said.

"I didn't know it was Trixie," Dan said.

"You say that as if it's perfectly fine to say what you did to a child that's not yours. Nothing you said to her would be okay under any circumstances," Chloe said.

"You're taking his side," Dan said in disbelief.

"I am doing what is best for my daughter, which means preserving the relationship she has with the only parent she's known, and making sure she feels safe," Chloe said.

"You can't keep me from her."

"We may not be able to stop you from seeing her long term, but we can make sure you see her in a controlled environment, where you can't put her in danger," Chloe said.

"We'll see," Dan said before shoving the custody papers in Lucifer's hands and walking away.

Chloe turned to Lucifer. "Did you mean what you said to Dan?"

"Of course, but I'm not sure which part you mean," Lucifer said.

"When you said you'd be okay with me moving in with you," Chloe told him.

"Certainly. I'm sorry for not asking you. I just assumed you wouldn't want that, but you're more than welcome to," Lucifer said.

"Normally you'd be right, but I would love to be with Beatrice every day, to tuck her in at night and make her breakfast every morning," Chloe said.

"Well, I'd insist on making breakfast sometimes, but I take your point. If that's what you want, I would be happy to make it happen. If not, you'll welcome whenever you wish," Lucifer said.

"Let me think about it. It's not a decision I just want to rush into," Chloe said.

"Very well," Lucifer said before the two of them headed to her desk.
