Prologue Part 4: Last Wish
~~Alisen Residence~~
~~August 3rd (Saturday Morning)~~
The next day, Dana woke up from her dream to the sounds of her phone ringing. Without waking up Nitorin, who had his arms wrapped around her waist, Dana picked up the phone and answered.
"Hello?" Dana asked. She proceeded to hold a conversation with the person on the other side of the phone, "Oh, they want me to be part of today's patrol? Ugh, but I hate patrol duty...Fine, I'll be there in a moment."
Nitorin began to wake up as well when he felt Dana leave his arms, "Leaving already?"
Dana looked back at her husband and smiled, "Yes, another of those annoying patrol shifts."
Nitorin smiled as he got up in a sitting position, the sight of his bed hair making Dana giggle, "Aw, but I love having you in bed to cuddle. It always feels nice."
"Hehe, as soon as I get back, we can cuddle as much as you like," Dana said as she went into the bathroom to get herself ready. When she returned, Nitorin was struggling to keep himself awake. The woman smiled and gave the man a soft kiss, waking him up, "Don't go sleeping in today, okay?"
"You don't want any breakfast?" Nitorin asked.
"It's fine," Dana said, buttoning up her hunter outfit, "I'll buy myself something on the way."
"Okay then," Nitorin said, giving Dana a hug, "Good luck on patrol. Stay safe out there."
"I will," Dana said, giving Nitorin a peck on the cheek.
As Dana left the room, Nitorin couldn't help but get a sinking feeling in his stomach. He looked outside, noticing the clouds covering the sky.
"Looks like it's going to be a foggy day," Nitorin said.

~~Unknown Location~~
Jurabi was wandering around a village that he does not recognize. The darkness made it difficult for him to make out anything familiar. All he could hear were countless screams of terror as his nose ran hot from the smell of fire and ash. Every second that passes by, he sees a corpse of men, women, and children on the ground with their blood splattered across the floor. Each dead person he came across had black hair with red highlights at the edges—the same color as his and his mother's.
In the distance behind the burning rubble, Jurabi could make out silhouettes for men and women being killed by men in cloaks with weapons he had never seen before.
"No…no more!" Jurabi shouted as he began to run as fast as he could away from all the death and burning, "Someone please stop this!"
In his frantic attempt to get away from what he was experiencing, Jurabi didn't notice a dead-end cliff and ended up falling off the edge.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaah!" Jurabi hit the ground hard, but was not injured in the slightest. He groaned as he stood back up and found himself in a room that looked to be a meeting room of sorts. In this room, he saw a group of kids with the same hair color as him talking with a figure wearing the same white cloak he saw on the other people who were slaughtering innocents.
He couldn't make out what they were saying, only what happened next. The figure suddenly took out a white sword in its left hand and killed the children without an ounce of hesitation or compassion.
The blood of the children splattered onto Jurabi's horrified face. The figure then turned to him, bearing the face of a white-haired woman with silver eyes.

Jurabi bolted out of his nightmare, gasping for air and feeling his heart pound under his chest. His head hurt, causing his vision to be blurry for a moment. He felt his face and stared at his hands, finding not a single drop of blood on them, but then his hands shook as his tears fell on them.
Jurabi felt miserable. Every nightmare he has gets worse. All he could see was blood, death, and fire. Not a single moment of happiness could be seen. What's worse of all is that he didn't understand what he was seeing or why he was seeing it all. He doesn't know whether these nightmares are real or not and it frightens him.
"Why…?" He thought to himself, "Why must I see all of this? Why me?"

~~Oroseia Academy~~
Oroseia Academy, a grand school where hunters of Vastel are taught and trained to protect the people against the growing Grimm threat.
Dana arrived and stepped out of her car. After walking through the entrance, she was greeted by a voice.
"My, my, look who's clocking in on their precious off day," Spoke a cheery voice.
Dana turned to the nearby balcony and saw a slim woman jump from above before a large bubble formed from underneath her, cushioning her landing.
The woman gave Dana a big smile, "Haven't I told you not to overwork yourself, Danny."
"Still calling me by that nickname, huh Aoife?" Dana asked, shaking her head.
"Yep, and there's nothing you can do to make me stop," Aoife said.
"Heh, even though the thought of forcing you to stop sounds enticing, I have other things to do today," Dana said.
"You mean your patrol mission?" Aoife asked.
"Yes, apparently a hunter tasked with patrol called in sick, and since I'm the only available hunter at Oroseia...here I am," Dana said, sounding a little tired.
"Pfft, well that blows," Aoife said, giving a pout, "At this point the higher-ups may as well increase our pay. This is worker's abuse, I tell you."
"Claiming worker's abuse without sufficient evidence won't end well for you, Chandani," Spoke a male's voice. It wasn't long until a male faunus with blond hair approached the two women. His single, right golden retriever dog ear twitching.
"Ken?!" Dana asked, her eyes widened when she saw the faunus.
"Kenny, you're back!" Aoife shouted as she ran to try and give Ken a big hug.
Ken immediately put his hand forward and kept Aoife at bay as the woman struggled to get closer to him, "Still as energetic as ever, Aoife."
"And I still have a lot more energy packed into this body," Aoife said, "Now let me hug you!"
"Hm...no," Ken said, stepping forward and letting Aoife go, letting her crash into a nearby wall. Knowing his friend has been through worse, Ken turned his attention to Dana, "As for you, you seem a little less chipper than you were years ago."
"Haha, I believe the words you used to describe me were 'reckless lunatic'," Dana said, "But you are technically right. I've matured from my days as a fledgling huntress."
"Likely due to having a family, right?" Ken asked, "Hope your children haven't turned into foolhardy try-hards like you were."
"Hey, I'll have you know I did a very good job at teaching my children, Ken," Dana said.
"Ah, I wonder how adorable Jubi is doing," Aoife said, her nose leaking a little blood from the collision with the wall, "How about I pay your family a visit just like I did that Christmas celebration three years back?"
"As long as you ease up on the eggnog, Aoife," Dana said, giving Aoife a stern glare, "This time I won't be carrying you to the hospital."
"Teehee, no need to look so serious, Danny~!" Aoife said, "I promise I won't throw up on your car this time."
"Anyways, the higher ups called you out here too, Dana?" Ken asked.
"I assume it's the same for you two as well," Dana said, "I'm going to be stuck on patrol duty. I'd rather be sleeping…"
"Well what a coincidence!" Aoife shouted, "It just so happens that Yours Truly has also been tasked with patrol duty. They probably think you'll get bored without moi by your side."
"It's the same for me too," Ken said, "I came back from a scouting mission in Grimm territory and now I'm stuck on patrol as well?"
"So all three of us…" Dana said.
The three hunters let out a collective sigh.
"Well," Dana shrugged, "At least the pay is going to be worth it."
"Still, it wouldn't have killed them to give us a day off!" Aoife whined.
"I'm sure the higher-ups have their reasons," Dana said.
"They better be good reasons," Aoife said, "I was almost finished building this beautiful bubble statue of Nebby!"
"Still going on about Nebula?" Ken asked, facepalming, "Are you sure you'll be a perfect fit as a professor? I don't think they'll accept people who behave like children."
"Oh I do not behave like a child, Kenny!" Aoife shouted with a pout, "There's nothing wrong with a fiery ambition…" She then blushed, "Especially when it ignited from love."
Dana scratched her head, thinking to herself, "I want to root for Aoife, but I don't think she will be so lucky."
"Well I don't know about you two, but I'll be heading to the Hunter's Hall," Ken said, turning to leave, "I've got other things to do than patrol…"
"You said it," Dana agreed.
The three headed to a room full of hunters and huntresses, gearing themselves up for their nightly patrol duty. Upon arriving at the mission table at the center, they greeted the clerk. From there, they received their patrol routes and sat at a table to discuss.
"Ugh...I'm stuck with the boring Agricultural District!" Aoife whined, "I feel like the people who assign these missions have it out for me!"
Ken let out an annoyed sigh, "What are you talking about, Aoife? You got the easiest district to patrol. I, on the other hand, am stuck with the unruly Entertainment District. I swear to Reigal if I catch one drunk teenager past their curfew…"
"I feel bad for you, Ken," Dana said, "The unruly teenagers are the worst when drunk. As for me...I have just the defensive perimeter to patrol. Shouldn't be too much trouble."
"That is if you don't factor in the fog that set in," Aoife said, "It'll be difficult to see anything beyond my own hand."
"It is strange, though…" Ken said.
"What is it?" Dana asked.
"Didn't the weather forecast say it was going to be a clear night?" Ken asked, "Even if a little fog was possible…"
"Maybe they simply miscalculated," Aoife said, "You're thinking too much about this, Kenny."
"And you think too little about your assigned work," Ken's eyebrow twitched as he stared at Aoife.
"Alright, you two," Dana said, getting in between the two adults, "Let's get this assignment over with so we can all go home."
"Fine," Ken said.
The three of them went to the Equipment Room where their hunter weapons were stored. It didn't take long for Dana to grab her red claymore, Shattered Crimson. Aoife took out her silver, six-foot tall, wand, Dust Malika.
"Still using that wand, I see," Dana said, placing her Shattered Crimson into it's black sheath.
"Yep, Dust Malika's been with me through thick and thin," Aoife said, "I love her as if she were my own child."
"I'd be forgiven for thinking the opposite," Ken said, pointing at the small specks of dirt and stains on the silver wand, "It looks to me that you've only put it through rigorous work without submitting for weapon maintenance."
Aoife, with the realization hitting her, felt her reality shatter, "Oh...oooooh, uh...hehehe, I...guess I did an oopsie and forgot."
Ken's annoyed glare only grew darker before he pinched Aoife's nose and made her look into her eyes, "You idiot. You should know better than to treat your weapon with such disrespect. After this is done, we are fixing that wand!"
"But Kenny! That will take hours!" Aoife whined, "Those precious hours I should be spending on my beauty sleep!"
"No excuses!" Ken shouted, letting go of Aoife's nose, "Unless you want me to have a chat with the Director about this!"
"...Ugh...meanie…" Aoifie muttered.
"Ehehe...things never change, do they?" Dana said.
"Perhaps," Ken said, checking over his blue bow, Fujin, "Too bad Kane isn't a hunter anymore. I could never get over his choice to just up and go back to being a Chieftain."
"The responsibility over a nation isn't something you can just ignore," Aoife said, "I'm sure Kane would have remained here with us if he had the option."
"Yeah, I sure missed all those arguments we had," Dana said, "I wonder what that furball's been up to."
"Probably going on about his family legacy," Ken said with a sigh, "That's the one thing I don't miss. Anyways, enough about him. Let's get our patrols over and done with. Be careful navigating the fog."
"Got it," Dana and Aoife said.
The three hunters then set out to their patrol stations throughout Oroseia City, but Dana couldn't help but notice a strange feeling in the foggy air around her.

~~Alisen Residence (Dusk)~~
Jurabi was still recovering from the nightmare. He was tired and gasping for air as sweat dripped down from his face.
"I need…water…" Jurabi thought as he got up from his bed and began making his way to the kitchen, but on his way there he noticed the lights in the living room were on. When he peeked inside, he saw his father sitting on the couch, in deep thought.
Jurabi didn't know why, but he could feel sadness and anxiety coming from his father despite not seeing his facial expression. Curious, Jurabi walked up to Nitorin and tugged on his sleeve, "Daddy?"
"Ah!" Nitorin yelped as he placed a hand on his heart before turning to Jurabi, "Oh...Jurabi! Good morning. What are you doing up this early?"
Jurabi's gaze turned to the ground as his body swung side to side, "I...I had a nightmare a while ago."
"A nightmare?" Nitorin asked. After Jurabi explained to him the details he could recall from the nightmare, Nitorin's eyebrow rose up. His stiff body muscles loosened as he grabbed his son and let him rest on his lap, "I'm sorry to hear that. Did you get any sleep at least?" Jurabi shook his head. Nitorin let out a sigh and smiled, "Well, me neither. I've been dealing with unpleasant thoughts."
"...Is it because of me?" Jurabi asked.
"No, no, no, it's not you at all," Nitorin said, placing a hand on Jurabi's head, "It's my fault for being such a fool. A fool who tried to tamper with Dark Atoms in the first place."
"Daddy…" Jurabi whispered.
"I know there were major risks," Nitorin said, "I knew without a doubt, but the thought of humanity having the power to fight back against the Grimm was almost too good to pass up."
Jurabi didn't know what to say to cheer his father up. He is only eight, so his knowledge on topics like this are difficult to find the right words for.
Knowing this, Nitorin shook his head and smiled, "Ah, look at me. Venting my worries on my own son. Now that's not what a Dad is supposed to do. I'm supposed to be cheering you up and making sure you get some rest."
"I'm okay, Daddy," Jurabi said, "I think it would be better if I spent time with you, if that's okay."
"It won't be healthy for you to go a night without sleep, Jurabi," Nitorin said.
"But…" Jurabi couldn't finish.
"Jurabi, nightmares are like stomach aches," Nitorin said, "They can hurt a lot, but over time they will go away. You can't let something scare you out of needed rest. Do you understand?"
"...Yes…" Jurabi whispered.
"Hey, if it really gets bad, Daddy will try to convince Mommy to let you sleep with us," Nitorin said, "How does that sound?"
"But Mommy said I'm too old to sleep with you both," Jurabi said.
"That is true…" Nitorin said. He took a long pause to think before his head perked up with an idea, "How about...I tell you more about myself?"
"Oh, really?" Jurabi asked.
"Yes," Nitorin said, "Plus...there's something else I wish to tell you. I...don't know if I will ever get a chance like this again."
"Daddy…" Jurabi whispered.
Nitorin turned to Jurabi, "Jurabi, if there's one thing I want you to remember, it's this: Because our world is teeming with Grimm, most people end up resorting to kill or be killed. It's…a harsh concept that kids your age must learn from their parents. Sometimes…they learn it themselves the hard way. We are lucky to live in the protection of one of the four nations, but outside the walls of the nation capitals…people aren't as lucky. Constant attacks from Grimm and the terrorist organizations that pillage defenseless villages. I know this…because my home village was utterly destroyed by a swarm of Grimm. My parents were ripped to pieces before my very eyes. Everything changed after that. I suffered from mental damage from the event and needed five months of therapy to even slightly recover. But once I did recover, I swore to myself that such brutality will one day be erased from this world. The Grimm, the terrorist organizations, and hopefully crime itself- all gone. Children would be able to live in peace and grow up happy for what tomorrow may bring instead of worrying if they will die within the next ten minutes. That was what I hoped Project Therion would bring…but alas, it was a dream that was doomed to fail," Nitorin then gave Jurabi a sad smile, "But what I want the most is for you to move forward in this life understanding that life will be hard on you. People may betray you and your dearest friend may change for the worst, but I will never change…because I am a father who loves his son and wife dearly. And I wish for you to treat your family the same way."
Jurabi sat there, silent as could be. He found it hard to find the proper response to such a speech.
Nitorin took the blame for the silent confusion and scratched his head, "Ah...I spoke too much. Sorry, I keep forgetting that you're only eight. You'll have plenty of time to think about this, I know it."
"No…" Jurabi said, shaking his head, "Somehow...I think I get what you're saying. At least the last part. Will I ever be a daddy like you?"
Nitorin hugged Jurabi, "I'm sure you will, Jurabi. You'll have children, a beautiful wife with a kind heart, and you will treat them both as a loving father and husband should."
"That sounds...so peaceful," Jurabi said, "If only I could smile at the thought."
"You will, Jurabi," Nitorin said, "I know you will."
"Daddy," Jurabi asked.
"Yes?" Nitorin asked.
"Can I…sit with you a while longer?" Jurabi asked.
Nitorin smiled, feeling his heart move, "Of course, Jurabi. For as long as you need."

~~With Dana~~
~~Southwest Oroseia~~
Dana, Aoife, and Ken had disembarked on their patrol assignments. On each of their comms, they heard a male's voice on the other side.
"Alright, you three," Said the male voice, "I know this mission is sudden and not to your convenience, but let's try and get wrapped up."
"Ah, Nebby, how I missed your beautiful voice," Aoife said.
"Chandani, don't make me report you to the director," The man, actually named Nebula, said.
"Ahaha, did I say beautiful voice?!" Aoife asked, while sweating, "I said "Roger that"."
Ken let out a sigh, "I already want to go home."
"Me too, Ken," Dana said.
Dana gave a good sweep around the outer walls of Oroseia. Aside from the usual claw marks left behind by the Grimm outside, the perimeter was secured.
"Everything is cleared on my side," Dana said to her comms, "How about you two?"
"All peachy over here," Aoife said, "Though the scenery could do without all of this fog."
"Clear on my end," Ken said, "Nebula, any unusual readings?"
"Aside from some civilian life signs within the fog, nothing unusual as of yet," Nebula said, "Like with every patrol you guys take."
"Heh, you say that like you're praying to the Guardians for that to be the case, Nebby~," Aoife said.
"Cut the chatter, Chandani," Nebula said.
"Aw, but I won't be able to hear your lovely voice if I stay silent~!" Aoife said, in a childlike tone.
"Aoife, take this seriously," Ken said.
Dana let out an exhausted sigh as she noticed she was near Oroseia Park, "I'm pretty much done with my route. I'm going to take a break at the park."
"Hold on, I'm close to the park too, Danny," Aoife said, "I'm almost done with my route so Ken and I will join up with you."
"I'm not enough done with my route and you're already dragging me along to do something else?" Ken asked.
"Oh, don't be such a loner, Kenny," Aoife said.
"I am not a loner!" Ken shouted, "Ugh…fine."
Dana went over to Oroseia park. There she met up with Aoife and Ken and did a quick sweep. After confirming that there was no suspicious activity, Aoife suddenly collapsed onto a nearby bench.
"Ugh!" Aoife shouted.
"Aoife, are you alright?" Dana asked in worry.
"No…I'm not, Danny!" Aoife shouted, "This mission…is the most boring one I've ever done!"
"If this is enough to wear you out, then I question how you managed to qualify as a professor," Ken said.
"Oh Kenny, my sweet, sweet, Kenny," Aoife started with a cheeky smile.
"You're really starting to push my tolerance for that terrible nickname," Ken interrupted with an unamused stare.
"There's more to being a strong hunter than just strength, you know," Aoife said, "I did save that school of children from a Grimm attack without a single casualty. Certainly, you did something of the same degree if you were qualified for the same position."
"Indeed," Ken said, "I took down a Nuckelavee in Sokkitia and a Sea Feilong in Staneia," Ken said, "My strength alone qualified me."
"Odd, because I heard that those two Grimm you took down would have rampaged through countless towns had you not stepped in, Kenny," Aoife said, "Even now, with your two best friends, you would deny your feelings as a hunter?"
"I'm not denying anything," Ken said, "I did my job and my duty. Nothing more."
Aoife let out a sigh, "Geez, you are so SERIOUS!"
"Well I'm happy for both of you," Dana said, "Being an A-rank hunter means you'll qualify for a position as a staff member of Oroseia Academy...or an official part of the Hunter Association. If either of you get to be a professor, it will be a high honor, especially for those who aren't part of the Four Bloodlines."
"Eh, who cares about having Pretorius, Ouro, Webber, and Argyros blood?" Aoife asked, "Why should your blood decide whether you can do the right thing or not? It's such a stupid concept."
"If you have anything to blame, blame Staneia and their caste system," Ken said, "If something like that has been around for a thousand years, everything else was bound to adopt that same mentality."
"Still, I don't agree with it in the slightest," Aoife said, "We're really lucky Kane's looking to get rid of that system."
"I'm glad too," Dana said, "But I do wonder why he had such a change of heart. He always defended the caste system every time we talked about it."
"Well...I heard from a reliable source that there was a new kid in the Webber family around the time the last Chieftain passed away," Ken said, "Perhaps that kid is…"
"Hm...we don't know for sure," Dana said, "I would love to talk to him again someday, though."
"Oooh, I do wonder who this kid is, though," Aoife said, "Mayhaps she is a princess of sorts. A princess ready to be carried off into the sunset by her beloved prince."
"Aoife, please don't," Ken said, shaking his head.
"Oh, Aoife, PLEASE!" Aoife shouted, standing on top of the bench, "Just imagine it: Princess Webber saved by a dark but handsome prince who faced the scrutiny of everyone around him. But Princess Webber, please her pure soul, never turned him away. Deep down, she loved the prince with her heart and soul and wishes to marry and elope and have children and live happily ever-"
Ken bonked the girl on the head with his bow, "That's enough out of you. You've been reading too much crappy fanfiction."
"They're not fanfiction, Kenny!" Aoife shouted, "I see nothing but untapped potential."
"More like the stroked egos' of a bunch of teenagers," Ken said.
Dana let out a laugh, hearing the banter between her friends, "You two never change. Oh, I missed this so much."
"Teehee, me too," Aoife said, "Hard to believe it's been twenty years since we graduated?"
"It's twenty-two, to be exact," Dana said.
"Ah yeah, those were some fun times," Aoife said, staring at the ground with a sad smile, "If only we could stay together."
"...Hey, do you think-"
"Don't, Dana," Ken said, "Not all of us wish to relive that day."
"But...Professor Rashi…" Dana whispered, "I've been dreaming about him recently. Well, they're more like nightmares."
"Nightmares?" Ken asked.
"Yes, images of my son being killed," Dana said, "Other strange images of people and places I've never seen nor heard of. It's draining on me. I've tried my best not to show it to my family, but it feels like I'm approaching my limit."
"Dana…" Aoife whispered.
"I know things changed when they confirmed his death," Dana said, "It was hell for all of us. Becoming stronger didn't change a thing for me, if I'm being honest. I still think about him everyday," She shook in fear, "But the way he died...I don't want the same thing to happen to my family."
"No, you won't fail, Dana," Aoife said, holding Dana's cold hands, "I know you better than anyone else. You were always so happy and had this infectious laugh. I missed those times so much and I want to have it back again."
"I know that, but…" Dana said.
"And I don't want to hear you taking all the blame for what happened either," Aoife continued, "Ken and I failed too, right Ken?"
"…Yes, we did," Ken said. "I've known our class long enough to know Kane and the others would say the same if they were here, so you're not allowed to bear the burden of your mistake alone."
"Yeah, not while Kenny and I are here," Aoife cheered.
"...You just had to ruin the momentum with that nickname…" Ken muttered as he continued, "Adding to what she said earlier, you're not the kind person to let a mistake weigh down on you. It will prove fatal if you succumb to the pain it brings."
"Ken…" Dana whispered.
"Oh, come on out and say it, Kenny!" Aoife shouted, "You're worried about Danny and want her to move on from Rashi's death!"
"I'm not in the slightest," Ken said, giving her an annoyed glare, "I would be…annoyed if I saw her sulking around. And so would the professor…"
"Yeah, sure," Aoife said with a sarcastic tone, rolling her eyes.
"What's with that tone, Aoife?" Ken asked.
"It's the "I see through your bullshit" tone, Kenny," Aoife said.
"…" Dana hadn't said anything since the two started their banter. She started to notice the fog growing thicker by the minute, "What's with this fog? It's been here since this morning."
"Hm? What is it, Danny?" Aoife asked, noticing Dana was silent the whole time.
"...Doesn't this fog feel strange to you?" Dana asked.
"Now that you mention it, I've been noticing it growing thicker over the past few hours," Ken said.
"It's making the city look eerie," Aoife said, "I think people are starting to go home early because of the dangers of driving through it."
"Hm…" Dana couldn't help but feel that something strange was happening.
"This is Nebula," Nebula's voice called, "Do you read, Alisen?"
"Alisen here," Dana said, "What is it, Nebula?"
"Our systems are no longer detecting any signals due to the thickness of the fog," Nebula said, "Before we lost track of the signals, though, he detected a sudden spike in activity in the Entertainment District."
"The Entertainment District?" Ken asked, "But I just finished sweeping the area. No one was around."
"You probably missed some drunk teenagers," Aoife said.
"Guardians, I hope that's not the case," Ken muttered, "Volgas to Nebula, we'll check it out."
"Roger," Nebula said.
"Well, no time like the present," Ken said as the three hunters made their way to the Entertainment District.
However, Dana couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
~~Entertainment District~~
The hunters arrived at the Entertainment District. The first thing that caught their attention was the fog was thicker in this area than the rest.
"Geez...I've never seen fog this thick," Aoife said, "Are we even in Reigal anymore?"
Ken sniffed the air before smelling something odd. He turned to the right, deep within the fog.
"What is it, Ken?" Dana asked.
"Dana, use your semblance there," Ken said, pointing to a spot within the fog.
"Got it," Dana said as she closed her eyes to use Mind's Eye. She reopened her eyes and saw three barrels, "It's just a bunch of barrels, what's the-"
"Those weren't there when I was here last," Ken said, slowly taking out Fujin, "And they're filled with gunpowder."
Aoife's eyes widened, "Gunpowder?!"
"Wait...that's not all," Dana said, noticing a rope attached to the barrels. What made her eyes widened was that there was already a fire that was about to reach the barrels, "Oh no!"
"Dana?" Aoife asked.
"Fire…!" Ken shouted, smelling the fire, "A BOMB! GET DOWN!"
The three immediately went to whatever cover could protect them from the explosion.
*BOOM*

~~Alisen Residence~~
Nitorin had fallen asleep a few minutes ago, but the booming sound of the distant explosion woke both him and Jurabi up.
"What was that?" Jurabi asked, standing up.
"A Grimm attack?" Nitorin asked, "But the walls are supposed to be secured."
"Um…Daddy?" Jurabi asked, getting scared.
Nitorin immediately placed his hands on Jurabi's shoulders, "Don't be afraid, Jurabi. We'll head over to the Grimm emergency shelter and-"
"It's not Grimm…" Jurabi whispered, staring at the door. He felt anger and bloodlust, but being a child, he didn't understand what they all meant, but it frightened him.
"The door?" Nitorin asked. His eyes widened in horror as he watched the door turn into ice and shatter to pieces of ice.
Through the shards of ice, a raven haired woman with black wolf ears walked through wearing an evil smile, "My...what a lovely human home you have, Nitorin Alisen."
"Who are you?!" Nitorin asked.
The woman let out an evil chuckle, her ice-blue eyes staring deep into his soul, "I am the Liviera. Second Commander of the Eclipse. And you, Nitorin Alisen..." She smiled, "...are my prey…"

~~With Dana~~
After the explosions throughout the city, Oroseia has been put on high alert with the alarms sounding off.
Aoife let out a cough after inhaling the smoke, "Is...everyone okay…?"
"We're fine here," Dana said, noticing the fog was beginning to dissipate, "The fog is disappearing."
"I should have known," Ken said, "The fog is used to hide the movements of whoever set off those bombs."
"Attention all hunters into the field!" Nebula shouted through the comms, "Six explosions had occurred in the Entertainment District and the Cultural District! Head to those sections immediately and evacuate civilians!"
"The Cultural District…" Dana whispered before her eyes widened. In a burst, she rushed off without warning Aoife or Ken.
"D-Dana?!" Aoife shouted.
"Where are you going?!" Ken asked.
"The Cultural District...that's where my family is!" Dana shouted.
"Dana! Wait! What about the civilians here!" Aoife shouted.
"Aoife, you stay here and help the civilians here," Ken said, "I'll make sure she doesn't do anything reckless."
"Got it," Aoife said, "Please be careful, you two."
As Ken trailed behind Dana from a distance, he activated his comms, "Nebula, what's the status of the other districts?" Aoife asked.
"The other districts except for the Entertainment and Cultural have not been affected by the attack," Nebula said, "Oroseia Academy and other important facilities were not damaged either."
"They didn't target the palace or the other facilities?" Aoife asked, "They only blew up buildings?"
"Why waste resources like that?" Ken asked, "Unless…" That was when Ken noticed Dana stop in her tracks, allowing him to catch up, "Dana! Why did you stop?!"
He could see the glare on her face as she looked ahead of her in the fog. There was a male figure walking towards them, a hammer in hand.
"Who's there?" Dana asked.
"Well, well, it's just as we were told," The man said, revealing to be Savage, "You really are as predictable as we thought, Dana Alisen."
Ken's eyes widened upon laying his eyes on Savage. He bit his lips before saying, "Veigal…"
Savage's eyes became cold, "Ken, I dearly cherish our friendship to this day, but I advise against using that name when I'm around. It's Savage now."
"I remember you," Dana said, "The drop out student. So you've gone and joined a terrorist group, huh? As if murdering your teaching wasn't enough for you!"
"Murder?" Savage asked, letting out a laugh, "Now that's too cruel of an assumption. Unless...Ken didn't tell you what really happened. Though I can't blame him, because that story is too sensitive, even to him."
"This isn't about me, Veigal," Ken said, "What are you doing here? Are you behind those explosions?"
"Haha, of course not," Savage said, "You can thank my subordinates for that. They've done their job, but I've yet to do mine. I'll be sure to have fun with you, Dana Alisen."
Dana let out a growl, "What? Are you guys interested in me all of a sudden?"
"Haha, not in the slightest," Savage said, "But your son has piqued the boss's interests."
Dana's expression immediately went dark at the mention of Jurabi, "You bastards better not have…"
"Would you even want to find out?" Savage asked with a smirk, "There's no need to worry about your precious boy. We won't be rough with him. Your husband, though…"
Dana infused Shattered Crimson in darkness and launched an attack, "Blackened Moonfang!" She shouted as she sent a crescent moon-shaped dust wave, coated in black with red outlines, towards the green haired man.
Savage stared at the dangerous attack flying towards him and smiled, "Now that's what I call an attack," He tightly gripped his hammer and the jet boosters ignited, "Batter up~!" He shouted as he swung his hammer like a baseball bat and countered Moon Fang, sending it into a building. On impact, Moon Fang sliced off a good portion of the building before reaching the other side.
"What? He deflected it?" Dana asked, shocked by the sheer strength the man had, despite not being physically large..
"If that alone is leaving you shocked, boy are you both in for one hell of a surprise," Savage said.
"Enough of this, Veigal," Ken said, "You've already dug yourself in a hole too deep by joining a bunch of terrorists. How far are you willing to sacrifice what little morality you have?"
"Terrorists? The Eclipse?" Savage asked, pretending to be shocked, but the shock then turned into a face of disgust, "Don't make me laugh. The real terrorists are all around us, you see. How long ago was it that the filthy humans encountered the faunus and treated us like enemies? How our government works, the separation of races, and all of Oroseia...all for the humans to prevent us from becoming too strong for them to control."
"Don't waste your breath trying to justify your actions!" Dana shouted, "You attacked a city populated by innocent people!"
"Oh, how I wish that was the only reason we're here in the first place, but unfortunately it's not," Savage said, "At least I'll have some fun...buying Liviera some time."
"Dana...when I give the signal, you rush over to your family as fast as you can," Ken said, "I'll fighting Veigal...or...Savage."
"Ken…" Dana said.
"Don't worry about me," Ken said, "In the eyes of Vastel's people, the Eclipse are nothing more than traitors, and we will treat them as such!"
"So, my ex-classmates," Savage said, gripping his sword, "Who will be first to try and stop our quest for faunus dominance?"
"Your fight will be with me, Veigal," Ken said.
"Ken?" Savage asked, "I appreciate the compliment, but I'd rather save the best for last."
Ken pulled back the string on his bow, causing the wind around him to shift, "You used to joke and laugh all the time back in the academy. I always enjoyed those times with you...but today, you're a criminal to me, Veigal, and I will drag your ass to prison whether you like it or not!"
Savage glared at Ken and readied his hammer, "You sure grew a spine, Ken. I hope I don't...break it!"
Ken immediately fired three wind arrows at Savage.
Instead of avoiding it, Savage rushed forward, deflecting all three of the arrows.
"Now, Dana!" Ken shouted, shooting a wind arrow at the ground, causing them both to jump high into the air.
Savage looked up at the two hunters, "Heh, cute trick, but it won't last long."
Ken created a bigger wind arrow and aimed it at Savage while Dana infused Shattered Crimson in darkness.
"Heh, anything you throw, I'll just deflect," Savage said, "Bring it on."
"Go, Dana," Ken said.
"Blackened Moonfang!" She shouted, shooting another crescent moon-shaped dust wave at Savage, who was ready to deflect it.
"You think that's going to work?" Savage asked.
"Blow…" Ken whispered as he shot the large arrow at Dana's Blackened Moonfang. Upon impact, it created a large swirl of darkness that covered Savage's vision.
"Ugh, damnit!" Savage shouted, "What are you two doing? Covering up the vision of a crocodile faunus? Not going to end well for both of you."
"Covering your vision wasn't the idea, Savage," Ken said as the particles of the fog also began to mix with the darkness, slowly obscuring Savage's vision.
"The fog!" Savage shouted, "They're using it against me."
"Now, Dana!" Ken shouted.
"Thanks, Ken," Dana said, "Good luck, and be careful."
"Same to you," Ken said as he watched Dana rush off towards the direction of her home through his night vision.
"Sneaky of you, Ken," Savage said, "I never thought you would turn out like this. Your trick was clever, but it won't stop me or Liviera. Reptilian Cutter!" With his sledgehammer, he unleashed an extremely fast attack that landed on the ground creating a stream of earth cracks that caused the earth to shift upwards.
Ken jumped out of the way, but Savage was quick to close the distance.
"Is running all you can do?" Savage asked, swinging his hammer at Ken.
Using the wind, Ken's body pushed itself out of the way of Savage's attack despite the restriction of being in the air.
"You can't keep this up forever, Ken~!" Savage jumped on top of the newly shifted earth to chase after Ken.
Ken continuously used the wind to dodge all of Savage's attacks until they both eventually found themselves on a building rooftop.
"Heh...! When I told that shitty teacher not to underestimate you, Ken," Savage said, "I was right."
"Don't talk to me like we're friends again," Ken said.
"Oh, but we are friends," Savage said, "Even after fourteen years, I still consider the two of us friends."
"You think being my friend all that time ago makes your actions justified?" Ken asked, "If so then you're an even bigger disappointment than I thought."
"And yet you still found it in your heart to treat me like an equal," Savage said, "Admit it: You've always been attracted to living disappointments. I've always wondered why."
Ken remained silent as he prepared his bow to shoot at Savage again.
"Ah, I must have touched a nerve," Savage said, "How's that loud, bombastic Aoife doing? I hope a death in the Alisen family doesn't turn that smile of hers upside-down."
Without hesitation, Ken let the wind arrow fly towards the crocodile faunus.
Savage deflected it with a flick of his wrist, "Come on, why hold back against a terrorist?"
"..."
"This is what I have always liked about you, Ken," Savage said with a smirk as he turned away from him, "Always thinking about the well-being of others. Let's hope that mentality doesn't take you down a dangerous path."
"We're not done yet, Veigal," Ken said.
"No, we are," Savage said, "I'd say by now Liviera is finished with her business, and so have I. Until we meet again, Ken. Take good care not to lose your other ear to the ones you trust the most."
"Wait!" Ken shouted, shooting another arrow at Ken. But the arrow went through the body that soon disappeared into electricity, "...Damnit…" He looked over to the direction Dana went, "Dana...I hope you made it in time."

~~Alisen Residence~~
Meanwhile, Nitorin kept Jurabi close behind him as Liviera slowly approached them with masked Eclipse men behind her.
"Ah...the look of fear on your son's face," Liviera said, "If our information is correct, like Grimm he should be feeling my killing intent."
Nitorin grabbed a glass bottle and smashed it to turn it into a semi-knife, "You stay away from him! He's not a Grimm!"
"Oh, please," Liviera said, rolling her eyes, "Do you intend on ignoring the truth? He may be a human in body, but the dark atoms had already taken control of every part of his body like so many other victims of the infection. The only thing keeping your son from fully turning is...well...that is the mystery of all this, and he's our ticket to finding out for ourselves."
"You're not laying a hand on him!" Nitorin shouted, "Whatever it is you're looking for, you won't get it here!"
"Ahaha, so courageous in the face of certain death," Liviera said, "But you're defying the Eclipse. We always get our way no matter who we need to trample over. The boss wants your son above all else, and I am perfectly okay with mutilating your body to get him."
"M-mutilating…?" Jurabi asked.
"That's right, little one," Liviera said with an evil smile, "It means Daddy won't be able to read you bedtime stories and have fun with you...for the rest of your life."
"Wh-wha?!" Jurabi asked.
"Don't listen to her, Jurabi!" Nitorin shouted as they had been backed into a corner, "She's trying to scare you."
"I think you should listen, Jurabi," Liviera said, "Come with us, and Daddy and Mommy will be safe. No one will hurt them, promise."
"I…" Jurabi whispered, unsure of how to feel about the woman's proposal.
"I've heard enough of this! I won't tell you this again!" Nitorin shouted, "Get out of my house now."
Liviera let out a sigh, "I thought you would take me up on my offer," She then let out an evil smile as she created an ice rapier, "But it looks like you'll learn how in life...there are no second chances."
In the blink of an eye, Liviera closed the distance and pierced Nitorin's left leg, leaving behind ice on the flesh.
"AAAAAAAAAH!" Nitorin screamed in pain. He lost his grip on the broken glass and his footing stumbled before he fell on the ground.
"DADDY!" Jurabi screamed, sensing fear and pain from his father.
"Get the boy," Liviera commanded her men.
"D-don't touch him!" Nitorin shouted as he watched the Eclipse men grab a hold of Jurabi.
"Let me go!" Jurabi screamed, "I have to help Daddy!"
"Your 'Daddy' won't be needing anymore help soon," Liviera asked as she hovered over Nitorin's body and placed her heeled, black boots over his head, "You should have taken me up on my offer, runt. Now, you get to watch your father suffer!" She then proceeded to kick Nitorin in the stomach over and over.
"S-stop it! Please!" Jurabi whispered.
"J-Jurabi..." Nitorin said, trying to hold in his screams.
Liviera stopped and turned to one of her men, "You, prop him against the wall."
Jurabi was still frozen in fear as he was held in place as he watched the Eclipse man drag Nitorin up against the wall.
"N-no…please, don't! I'm begging you!" Jurabi cried as tears started falling off his eyes.
"J-Jurabi...it's okay…" Nitorin said, weakly, "It's going to be okay…"
"No, it's not!" Jurabi shouted, "She's hurting you! Stop hurting Daddy!"
"Aaww…such a touching plea," Liviera said sarcastically, "I can feel my tears welling in my eyes. Anyways…there is something our boss wants from you, Nitorin. Access to some very secret files that we got from a trusted friend of yours. But…we need your identity to access them. Now, we could choose your finger, but fingerprints can easily be changed. Your face? Same problem. DNA? No. But…one body part doesn't have the massive preservation requirements those three have."
Liviera then readied her fingers before she grabbed Nitorin's head and held his left eye open.
"Wh-what are you-" Jurabi asked.
"Thank you for your contribution to humanity's downfall, Mr. Alisen," Liviera said.
Then, in a flash, she grabbed Nitorin's left eyeball and pulled it out without hesitation.
Nitorin let out an ear-piercing scream as blood spilled from his hollowed-out eye socket.
Liviera examined the eye, not even looking at the man she was torturing, "I never held an eyeball before. It's so…beautiful, but so slimy. Perhaps I should keep a collection from now on."
"Why…? Why would you...d-do that?!" Jurabi screamed, "Why are you doing this?! Daddy doesn't deserve this!"
Liviera let out a sneer as she placed Nitorin's eyeball into a preservation capsule. She then walked over to Jurabi and kicked him in the face, "Be silent, runt!"
"Ah!" Jurabi screamed, feeling blood drip from the corner of his mouth.
"Jurabi!" Nitorin shouted.
"You should be thanking me," Liviera said, "This is a mercy compared to what he actually deserves. After all, how else did he get those talons from a Zenith Grimm? How many bodies do you think he threw at that monster? How many faunus died for a fake cause?"
"Wh-what?" Jurabi asked.
"...No...I did not send them against their will!" Nitorin shouted, "...They agreed...to fight because it's what they wanted...to do for the good of both faunus and hum-"
Liviera recreated her ice rapier and pierced it through Nitorin's right arm.
"AAAAh!" Nitorin screamed out, unable to hold it in any longer.
"N-NO!" Jurabi screamed, tears falling down his eyes.
"I have little patience for liars, Mr. Alisen," Liviere said with a bone-chilling tone, "Lie to me again and I'll freeze the rest of your limbs until frostbite consumes you!"
"PLEASE!" Jurabi screamed, "I'LL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! JUST PLEASE….LET HIM GO...!"
"..." Nitorin tried to hold in his cries so as to not put fear into Jurabi with his screams.
"How the mighty has fallen," Liviere said, "That you, once revered as a genius, are groveling beneath me. You feel that, Mr. Alisen? That is how it feels to live with you humans. You all spit at us, hiss at us, called us names, and cursed us. But worst of all, your kind is stained in the blood of our people. But you, Nitorin Alisen, your hands are stained with the blood of fifty faunus whom you sent to die to Ragnarok."
"Daddy...please tell me she's lying…" Jurabi whispered.
"...I won't deny...that in order to start the project...sacrifices had to be made…" Nitorin said, "Everything I did...I did to build a better future for everyone."
"Tch, all talk, but your failures speak louder than your words," Liviera said, "Project Therion is nothing but a distant memory now. You wasted those lives for nothing."
"...Hehehe...you are wrong," Nitorin said, starting to smile in the face of what could be his end.
"What did you say?" Liviera asked, her anger beginning to spike.
"Project...Therion isn't dead…" Nitorin said, glancing over at Jurabi, "I should...have realized sooner…Project Therion did succeed...in a way even I could not imagine..."
"Heh, what's this?" Liviera asked, "Has the blood loss made you go insane? If so, then torturing you won't bring me any more joy. Club, please?" She asked, extending her hand.
"Yes, ma'am," The men said as one of them gave her their black clubs.
"Jurabi…my only regret is not making the peaceful world you deserve…" Nitorin said.
"Daddy…" Jurabi whispered.
"Now we can't have them figuring out that I took your eyeball," Liviera said, "A good two hits should suffice," She then struck the left side of Nitorin's head three times, causing his blood to splatter.
Jurabi felt something begin to rile up inside of him as he watched his father suffer in such a manner. His body began to shake and eyes slowly began to turn black.
"Ah sorry, the third hit was just for the kick of it," Liviera said, "You still alive?"
Nitorin was barely lifting his head up. He no longer had the strength to scream and was on the verge of death.
"…D…" Jurabi whispered.
Despite the pain he is in, Nitorin still was able to manage a smile, "Jurabi..."
"I'm surprised," Liviera said as she handed the club back to her men, "Perhaps humans are more resilient than I thought. But no matter," She recreated her ice rapier and turned to Jurabi, "Take a good look, little one. You're about to see what I will do...to everyone you love!"
"…Jurabi…" Nitorin whispered, "...Don't...be...afraid..."

~~Five Years Ago~~
"Daddy! Daddy look!" Cheered a three-year-old Jurabi as he showed his working father a picture.
"Hm? What is that, Jurabi?" Nitorin asked.
"It's a picture of Mommy in Honkai armor!" Jurabi said.
"Honkai armor?" Nitorin asked.
"You haven't watched the tv show? It's about this lady who fights injustice in a suit of armor!" Jurabi shouted, "I love it a lot and I think the armor is cool, but it would be cooler if Mommy wore one, don't you think?"
"Hm…perhaps so," Nitorin said.
"Do you think you can make one?" Jurabi asked.
"Well…I am the Ultimate Builder," Nitorin said with a confident smile, "I can build anything. That's my superpower."
"Wow, really?!" Jurabi asked as his eyes lit up.
"It's true," Nitorin said, patting his son on the head, "I'll have a little talk with your Mommy and see if she's willing to help me make it, and who knows? Maybe I'll make one for you too."

~~Four Years Ago~~
"Hey Daddy! Guess what!" Jurabi as a four-year-old said to Nitorin as he was busy working on a project.
"I'm kinda busy, Jurabi," Nitorin said, "Can it wait?"
"But….it's something amazing," Jurabi said, "I won the school Science Fair!"
Nitorin stopped what he was doing and turned to Jurabi with a smile full of glee, "Did you?! I want to see it!"
Jurabi showed him the blue ribbon with the 1st Place written on it.
"Spectacular work, boy!" Nitorin cheered as he picked Jurabi up, "I knew you had a talent for building things! I'm so proud of my boy!"
"Hehe, thanks Daddy," Jurabi said, "So…can I help you make the Honkai Armor?"
"Ah yes, the armor…" Nitorin said, scratching his head, "Well that takes a bit more experience to make and you don't quite have that at the moment."
"Oh…I see," Jurabi said, looking disappointed.
"But I am more than willing to teach you more so that one day we can make the armor together," Nitorin said, "Why don't we take this step by step?"

~~Three Years Ago~~
"And then you twist it like so, add the power core, finish connecting the outer layers and…!" Nitorin shouted as he watched Jurabi finish building the toy machine car.
"I did it! I did it!" Jurabi cheered.
"It's too early to celebrate," Nitorin said, taking out a controller, "Let's put it to the test."
After a few minutes of controlling the toy machine car, Nitorin determined that the device was working perfectly and gave Jurabi a thumbs up.
"It works wonders, son," Nitorin said, "Another excellent success from you. At this rate, you'll be better than me!"
"Ah, you don't think that, Daddy," Jurabi said, "No one can beat you at building things."
"Jurabi, you'll learn one day that you can't be number one at everything," Nitorin said, "There will always be someone who will do something better than you can."
"Really?" Jurabi asked.
"Yes…but there is one single thing no one can beat you at," Nitorin said.
"What's that?" Jurabi asked.
"Being yourself," Nitorin said with a smile.
"Being myself? What does that even mean?" Jurabi asked.
"Ah, that's right," Nitorin said, "You're too young to be given riddle answers. Let's just say that you are fine as you are. No need to worry about being better than someone else. You'll meet many people in your life who can do things you are not able to do, and you may require their help to overcome an obstacle, so do your best to get along with them."
"Will I even be able to meet those people?" Jurabi asked, looking down, "I've been hearing bad things like the Grimm getting meaner and bigger."
"Ignore those things you've been hearing," Nitorin said, "No matter how big the Grimm gets, Mommy will still beat them. Size means absolutely nothing to the courage of a hunter."
"Yeah! You're right!" Jurabi said, "Sorry for doubting Mommy…"
"No need to apologize," Nitorin said, "And don't worry. You won't even have to see a Grimm in your life. Once I'm finished with my building project, the Grimm won't be a problem for anyone anymore."
"Really? You can build something that can scare them?" Jurabi asked.
"…Something like that. Yes," Nitorin said, "And once we scare them away, the three of us will live a life free from their wickedness."
"Wow…you sound just like both Honkai Girl and the Guardians!" Jurabi shouted.
"Hehe, do I?" Nitorin asked.
"Can you really do it, Daddy?" Jurabi asked.
"Can I? I will do it," Nitorin said, "And once I'm done, I'll make the Honkai Armor for both you and your mommy and we'll live happily ever after, like a family should."
"Promise?!" Jurabi asked.
"Promise," Nitorin said with a smile.

~~Present Day~~
"...Don't...give up..." Nitorin whispered as he looked his son in the eyes and said, "...And don't forget..." He whispered as his mouth moved once again, "..."
Liviera pierced through Nitorin's heart without a second of hesitation, "Become one with ice...human filth," She said with disgust.
Jurabi couldn't say anything as he watched his father's body freeze to death to the point where nothing could save him. He continued to stare at the dead corpse that his father had become.
"So...how was it?" Liviera asked, expecting applause, "I'll admit it I did slip a little with the skull bashing part, but overall a splendid performance~!"
"Y-you…" Jurabi's body began to shake.
"What's the matter?" Liviera asked, "Oh that's right. Did I kill your daddy and made you watch? Oh, so sad~!" She said sarcastically, "And I would do it again, and again. What are you going to do about it?"
Jurabi's anger was beginning to reach its highest point, "I...I…"
The two men holding the little boy felt something off about Jurabi, "Um...Miss Otura…"
"Mmhm? You can do it," Liviera asked, "Or should I torture your Mommy t-"
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Jurabi screamed as a sudden wave of black and red energy surrounded his body and pushed back the Eclipse men holding him.
Liviera stood where she was, unfazed by the wave of raw power before her. She let out a smile, "Ah...so this is why Deathwatch is so interested in you."
Jurabi's body had changed. His brown skin turned pitch black, his eyes completely black with yellow irises. His black hair with red highlights swapped into red hair with black highlights.
"Such power..." Liviera said, watching as black dragon wings expanded from his back and a spikey dragon's tail sprouted from his back and his nails turned into Grimm talons.
"I WILL….KILL YOU!" Jurabi screamed in a demonic roar that boomed throughout the city.

~~With Dana~~
Dana was close to reaching her house until she heard and felt the roar and it's sheer power, "Th-this roar…" She felt a shiver down her spine, "I-it can't be…"
~~With Aoife~~
Aoife had finished rescuing the last citizen caught in the building fire from the explosion until she heard the booming roar from afar, "This scream...I can feel the bloodlust from it...but also pain."
~~With Ken~~
Ken was trailing behind Dana to reach her residence until the roar came his way, knocking him off balance until he recovered, "This much power from just a scream?! No...don't tell me…!"

~~Alisen Residence~~
Liviera smiled and basked in the presence of the creature Jurabi had become, "The black wings and the deadly tail...there's no doubt about it now."
Jurabi let out the eerie growl of a monster hungry for flesh and blood as his tail slammed the ground, leaving a small crater.
"You are more than just an ordinary Grimm, little Jurabi," Liviera said, "You are…"

"...a Zenith Grimm."
