Month 1

Lucina was an early riser. Even before the apocalypse, she was often up with the sun ready to have fun and cause mischief. While her mischief making had certainly tapered off, she was at least rediscovering fun with Robin's help. He endeavored to find little things to show her a fun time in his mission to help her enjoy life again.

Either way, it was a bit strange for her to wake up so late. Granted, late for her was around eight, but it was still unusual. She did have some trouble falling asleep the night before, but she was no stranger to late nights.

Though it was still preferable to the past few mornings where she woke up utterly nauseous. She had no idea why either. She was generally of a hardy constitution, and before this week she could not remember the last time she had suffered an upset stomach. It was all out of the ordinary for her, but not deemed to be enough to get checked out.

Forcing herself out of bed, Lucina went about her day only slightly more prone to cramps than usual as she set about training the new guard recruits.

Month 2

Lucina groaned at being once again awoken with an upset stomach. This had become something of a routine despite her internal denials. It was getting harder and harder to hide it from Robin as well. Especially since she did not have a historically weak bladder to make it not so odd for her to abscond to the restroom so early. Fortunately, he was a heavier sleeper than her.

At the very least, she was an early riser, and it was not too early of a start to her day. That said, even Lucina had her limits and she decided to take advantage of her aunt's visit for some confidential medical advice. While Lissa was not a full physician, she should at least be able to tell her if she needed further attention.

Finding the time to go was easy enough. Lucina could adapt her schedule as needed, and Robin had plenty of paperwork that week. That did not stop Lucina from being a bit nervous as she visited her aunt, however. Not that she let it show.

"So, what brings you by today?" Lissa was ever the ray of sunshine as she greeted her niece on the couch in her old room.

"I normally would not bother you with some nausea, but it has persisted for quite some time now. Most mornings these days I seem to wake up with an upset stomach. It ranges from mild to, well, vomiting."

"I see. Any other symptoms or anything out of the ordinary?"

"Well, I seem a bit more stiff than usual, but nothing I can't handle. I've also had a slightly higher appetite."

"Sweets?"

"Some, now that you mention it. Is that relevant?"

"So, next question is pretty personal, are you late?"

Lucina coughed in response as her face heated up, "Er, yes. I believe so. May I ask why you would ask that?"

"Because it was the last piece of the puzzle," Lissa beamed, "I'm pretty sure you're pregnant."

"W-what? Are you certain?"

"Well, I could always check with a staff, but I'm 99% certain. You okay? You look a bit…pale."

"Sorry," Lucina sighed, "This is good news, truly. In my future though, children rarely came to term in my world. It was even rarer for them to survive birth, let alone infancy."

"Don't worry, Lucina, as far as I can tell, you're in excellent health."

"Are you sure? I believe Miriel was concerned about lasting health effects from our time under such conditions."

"Yeah, but she determined that you're all fine. Physically at least. I think she still wants to study at least a few of you mentally."

Lucina played with her thumbs for a few seconds before standing, "Thank you, aunt Lissa. I…must think about how to tell Robin."

"I'm sure he'll be thrilled, and don't worry. My lips are sealed until you're ready to tell everyone. Just hurry. I don't want to explode holding in something like this."

"That was great," Robin smiled lovingly as he finished the meal, "But we could have just gotten something from the kitchens."

"It's alright. I happen to like cooking, and it's a down period for training anyway. We shouldn't be getting many new recruits for several months."

"That's true I suppose. You'll have plenty of free time coming up."

"Perhaps."

"Oh?"

"Um, Robin, I met with Aunt Lissa today."

"What about?" Robin was suddenly concerned given her anxious demeanor, "Nothing bad, I hope."

"No, nothing of the sort, but it is big." Lucina swallowed hard. Harder than she had in quite some time, "Lissa thinks I'm pregnant."

"Pregnant? Is she sure?"

"Ninety-nine percent apparently."

"That's great!" Robin pulled her into an embrace, "A bit sooner than expected, but, hey, you take what you get." Pulling back, he noticed that his wife's countenance had not really changed, "You don't look very excited."

"I'm sorry. I'm worried about our baby's health. In my world, few pregnancies ended with a live birth, even fewer of the children lived for more than a week. What if something is wrong with me, or what if I'm too reckless and I hurt the child?"

"You've been given a clean bill of health multiple times over," Robin pulled her close, "And I know you. You'll be almost too careful in making sure our baby is okay. I trust you on the battlefield, and I trust you here. I know you'll do great, and I'm here for you every step of the way."

"And…and what if I'm not a good mother," Lucina practically whispered, "What if I fail our child?"

"You won't. Like I said, I'm right there with you. We'll learn together, okay? We also have plenty of support. You'll do great. You always do."

"Thank you, Robin," Lucina smiled slightly as she snuggled deeper, "For everything."

Month 3

"Lucina, are you ready to go?"

"Are you sure about this?" Lucina was dressed quite casually, and her normally loose casual attire served her efforts of not revealing her pregnancy yet quite well.

"It's dinner with your parents. If we can survive it while Chrom was still cooling off from finding out about us, we can handle this."

"What if I have an outburst?" Lucina fiddled with her hair. She had purposely stopped sparring with the recruits after the news, but that did not stop her from having some unusually passionate outbursts. Especially when one of the poor guys was knocked merely in her general vicinity.

It was not limited to just her work either. It was becoming harder and harder to act like everything was normal when Lucina sometimes felt like the slightest thing could set her off. It ranged from being excessively irritable at times to other times being extremely easy to please. She was what she would classify as a wreck.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine," Robin reassured. True to his word, Robin was there every step of the way reassuring her that the baby was fine as well as that she was not screwing up as a mother already. Lucina proved as much to him by how vigilant she was over making sure the baby was safe. She could be almost too cautious at times judging from what he had read on the subject.

"Alright," Lucina breathed a calming breath, "It's just dinner with my parents. We do it every week."

"There ya go," Robin smiled, but he realized they were going to have to tell Chrom and Sumia eventually. Eventually they would not be able to hide this. She was not really showing much yet if at all, but she would be soon. They were running out of time to tell them.

"You made this yourself, didn't you?" Robin eyed the queen as they all sat down at a far less formal dining room in the royal quarters.

"Guilty as charged."

"I think the cooks have just given up on keeping her out at this point," Chrom chuckled while pulling her closer.

"I like taking care of my family," Sumia stated proudly, "I'm a mother through and through."

"Yes you are, and I love you for it."

Robin and Lucina shifted a bit, and not because of the lovebirds across from them. These weekly meals were just about the only time Robin and Chrom acknowledged that they were, in fact, in-laws. Every other time, they were the best of friends who pretended that Robin had not married Chrom's daughter, and it had worked out pretty well so far.

No, it was more that Lucina saw Sumia as the pinnacle of motherhood which was developing something of an inferiority complex in her whenever the topic came up. She saw no earthly way she could ever match her own mother.

"Well, dig in!" Sumia proclaimed proudly. While most of them ate with varying degrees of decorum with even Chrom having been somewhat whipped into shape, Chrom and Sumia inevitably ended up staring at their eldest while Robin tried to act like nothing was out of the ordinary.

Lucina's cravings had not manifested so much in weird combinations like some did, though she had developed a taste for fish, but more so in the raw appetite she now displayed. She was downright ravenous, and that was on full display.

"Have you not been eating?" Sumia finally asked.

"Hmm?" Lucina wiped her mouth as politely as could be before realizing the scene she had made, "Oh, er, yes. Sorry. I was just quite hungry."

"Apparently," Chrom grinned, "I haven't seen you eat like that…ever. You skip lunch?"

"No, actually. I've just been rather famished."

"Really? I've never known you to attack a meal like that," Chrom commented while Robin could see the gears turning in Sumia's head.

"Honey," Sumia finally spoke up, "Have you been feeling strange at all lately?"

"Er, well, you see…" Lucina gripped the hem of her dress until Robin's hand on hers had her lessen her grip. She understood. "Actually, there is something we need to tell you both."

"You're not moving, are you?" Chrom asked looking quite serious, "Cause I thought I made myself quite clear on that."

"Come now," Sumia settled her husband, "Let them speak."

"Well, um," Lucina twiddled her thumbs nervously, "We are…expecting."

Chrom seemed a little confused at first, but Sumia immediately lit up. "Oh!" Chrom had to cover his ears while even Robin flinched, "That's wonderful! How long have you known?"

"About a month now. Lissa seems to think it's been about three altogether."

"Tell me everything!" Robin avoided being kicked out of his chair by offering it silently instead as Sumia went full mom mode. This left Robin to awkwardly take her old seat next to Chrom.

"So…" Chrom cleared his throat, "I am not to be called "grandpa" nor are you to make any old jokes. Got it?"

"Yep," Robin nodded.

"Good talk."

With that, they waited for Sumia to finish gushing as they sat in silence. Robin, admittedly, thought it went pretty well. Lucina was smiling at her mother's enthusiasm and soaked up her advice like a sponge. Chrom had not tried to rip out his spleen. What more could he ask for?

Month 4

Lucina hummed to herself as she made her way back to her and Robin's apartment. She had been feeling a lot more confident with her mother's support and advice. There was something to be said for the advice of someone who had done this before.

At this point her clothes had gotten too tight so she wore a simple tunic to training and took an even more passive role in said training. That was not to say she did not have some fears about the future, but with her family's help, she was meeting it head on.

However, she could do without all the attention she had garnered once news broke of her pregnancy. Lucina never did that well being the center of attention when not in a leadership position. She could lead well, but small talk? That was an ordeal for her.

Hence why she was taking a very out of the way corridor back to her apartment. Few people ever came this way which made it great for avoiding the fifteenth question about how she was doing that day.

She was not the only one who used to use these halls though, but she did not know any of the others were around. A drawback to hiding away part of the day was that you missed big news sometimes.

"Luci!" Lucina froze in place barely able to react in time to catch her flighty sister as she tripped trying to skid to a halt in front of her. Not missing a beat, Cynthia hopped back onto her feet while pouting at the elder sister, "I thought we told each other everything? So why am I just now finding out you're pregnant?"

"You were in Valm," Lucina replied calmly. She may have been the pregnant one, but Cynthia was still the one she thought was harder to get a handle on. Fortunately, she had practice, "When did you arrive, anyway?"

"Earlier today, and someone wasn't there to greet me," Cynthia accused with her hands on her hips.

"Apologies. I've been trying to avoid people somewhat as I'm a bit uncomfortable with all the attention."

"Yeah, you were never much of a glory hound. So…got any names picked out?"

"Well, we were keeping the ideas to ourselves for now."

"Ah, come on! I won't tell! Promise!"

"Weeeeell, I suppose I can tell you the girl name we picked out. It's the only one we've settled on."

"Go on," Cynthia leaned closer. A bit too close.

"We were thinking of Morgan."

"Morgan, huh?" Cynthia mulled it over, "Huh, I like it. So, gonna invite me to dinner?"

Lucina sighed, but it did not hide the smile on her lips, "Certainly. I'm sure Robin will be happy to see you again."

Month 5

As the months moved along, Lucina's pregnancy became much more apparent. This also came with some other hurdles. She had actually managed to get a better handle on her mood swings, but that did not mean she was not increasingly concerned just being in the training yard fearing an accident may occur outside of her ability to control.

As much as she wanted to contribute to the castle and earn her keep as it were, Lucina was glad that her group of recruits would be moving on today to take on their assignments. It would be a while before a new wave came, and she was happy to have the break, but something else was weighing on her mind.

"So how's the newest class of guards?" Robin asked, "Are we in good hands?"

"I believe so," Lucina responded as she moved her food from one side of the plate to the other in a clear departure from her recent ravenous appetite, "Robin, I've had something on my mind."

"Oh? What's troubling you?"

"I think I will take an extended leave from training," Lucina responded with Robin seeming not at all surprised.

"I don't think anyone expected you to go without maternity leave," Robin smiled mirthfully before his expression became more neutral, "But that isn't what you're talking about, is it?"

"No, I was thinking of resigning my position."

"Permanently?"

Lucina nodded, "I did not get much time with my parents, and they were busy for a lot of that. They made time for me and my sister, but…I want our child to have me around all the time. I want to be there. Is that…selfish?"

"Not at all," Robin scooped her into his loving embrace, "Just a little bit of paperwork, and you're a free woman. I'm sure no one will blame you. You've already done more than enough for several lifetimes, and it's not exactly like you'll be lazing about. I'm just glad you got to choose this."

"I just hope I can pull it off. I'm not very domestic, you know."

"Just be yourself. That's all I or our baby could ever need."

"Thank you, Robin," Lucina cuddled in closer. She enjoyed his warmth. It was familiar. A reminder that she was home now.

Month 6

"I think that's everything," Chrom looked over his notes as he finished up his Monday morning meeting with Robin to go over the coming week.

"Yep, a graciously light week," Robin nodded, "Well, if there's nothing else?"

"Actually, there was something else."

"Oh? Go on."

"It's just, well," Chrom suddenly seemed uncomfortable, "I feel like we should have talked about you being a father. As friends."

"I thought we were never to discuss my family issues cause it made you feel weird?"

"Yeah, yeah, I know, but as your friend, I think we should talk. Maybe I could give some pointers."

"Alright," Robin leaned back with a slight smile on his face, "Let's talk."

"So, um, you nervous? I know I was a wreck leading up to the birth."

"Heh, I know you were. I still remember you anxiously following her around like a lost puppy until she made you actually do your job."

"Never gonna let me live that one down, huh?"

"Not for a while. Gave us all a good laugh, I'll admit," Robin's smile never wavered as he spoke, "Though, I can somewhat understand that now. I do find myself a bit nervous thinking about every little thing that could go wrong. As much as I told Lucina not to worry about them."

"It's hard not to worry. I'll try not to remind you of that too much."

"Okay, I kinda deserve that one."

"I'm sure parenthood will suit you just fine," Chrom reassured, "No one's entirely ready for it, mind you."

"Noted."

"We're here for you though. I know…it really weirds me out at times, but you make Lucina happy. I've never seen her happier than when she's with you. As a father…thank you. As your friend, I'm happy you found someone who makes you just as happy."

"Wow, really sappy today," Robin smirked before it morphed into a genuine smile, "Thank you, Chrom. It means a lot. I also just know that you'll melt as soon as you see your grandchild."

"Heh, so Sumia keeps telling me."

Month 7

Robin was contently sipping his tea as he unwinded from another day of paperwork. Lucina was in their bedroom doing something with her clothes. He had learned not to ask lest he risk an episode. If she wanted him to know, she would tell him. Simple as that.

In fact, she came out to join him soon. She was wearing a very loose white gown that accommodated the baby bump well. Normal clothes were certainly out of the question at this point, but Sumia had been more than happy to take her daughter shopping for some maternity dresses. All of which Robin would fully admit looked ravishing on her even with her figure as it was.

Robin enjoyed the peace of domestic bliss as he took another sip of his tea.

"Do my breasts look larger to you?"

Which Robin proceeded to summarily spit and choke on at the same time, "Excuse me?" He really thought they had put any concerns about her chest behind them after they married.

"Well, I'm getting closer to my due date, I thought maybe I might be getting ready to nurse."

"Oh," Oh! "I see. I, um, yes, they are. Though I figured you might wet nurse as is tradition."

"I'm certainly open to the possibility," Lucina answered as she sat in her favorite seat: his lap, "But I would like to try it myself if I'm able. I know not every woman can, but…I want to be there for our child as much as I can. It's something I want to do if possible."

"Well, I'll definitely support you in any way I can," Robin smiled as he gently held her just firm enough to help her keep her balance as he caressed her extended belly, "Oho, looks like the little one finally settled down."

"Finally. Seems our child is certainly full of energy," Lucina's tone had a twinge of exhaustion to it, but it was easily drowned out by the affection, "I can't wait to hold our baby, Robin."

"That makes two of us. Though I can hope that our little one calms down a little bit."

"Somehow, I do not think that is likely," Lucina grinned as she sunk further into her lovable cushion. She was tired from not getting as much sleep as usual, and it looked like she might drift off any second now, "Though, it has become a bit cumbersome to do menial tasks lately. So even if the little one is still full of energy, at least I'll be better able to keep up when the baby is on the outside."

"Well, maybe if you'd let me help you out a bit more," Robin gently chided as she enjoyed the vibration of his voice.

"Mmm, I may," Lucina paused to yawn, "I may have to, though I hate to impose."

"Hey," Robin stroked her hair, "What kind of father or husband would I be if I didn't take care of you. Just let me dote a little."

"Very well," Lucina yawned again, "I will endeavor to rely a bit more on you."

"Good," Robin smiled down at his lovely wife only to find she had already drifted off. He gently kissed her on the top of the head, "Sweet dreams, my beloved."

Month 8

The due date was fast approaching, but Lucina was currently focused on how to get dressed before meeting her mother. She had already sent Robin along on his way despite her increased reliance on him. He was already late. It was just some simple house clothes anyway. Surely she could figure this out.

It took a little finangling, but she did eventually manage to get herself ready. She just had to set a little extra time apart for herself.

"Yes, yes," Lucina spoke to her child as she walked out the door, "I know you're excited too. Let's not keep mother waiting."

Her mother's room was a bit hard to get to for Lucina these days, so fortunately, Sumia had opted to meet up at one of the smaller dining rooms. Something Lucina was grateful for.

Lucina was slower than she was used to, but she managed to avoid being late. Though, once she entered the dining room, she was taken off guard by the room being filled with almost all their female friends.

"What is this?" Lucina asked as she took count of everyone there. Her mother and sister were there obviously. Lissa was still visiting from Ferox. Ladies Cherche, Maribelle, and Cordelia were also in attendance. Olivia had even stopped by as well as lady Tiki. Her other female colleagues from her world had made it as well, namely Nah and Severa. The latter of which she did not know was back from her mysterious trip.

"A baby shower," Sumia answered with a lovely smile, "Cynthia wanted to surprise you."

"Yeah, and sourpuss here even showed up just in time to join along."

"Who you calling a sourpuss?" Severa huffed before shocking them all with a genuine smile, "Congratulations, Lucina. I'll have to give you some pointers."

"Pointers?" Lucina raised her brow, "You are a mother?"

"Yeah, she's married to Owain now," Cynthia chimed in.

"Owain?" Lucina knew they had dated before leaving, but…a child?

"Yeah," The redhead gave a more familiar smirk, "Hopefully the two aren't around setting anything on fire."

"Wait, how old is she?" Nah asked suddenly.

"Almost nineteen," Everyone stopped to give her a dumbfounded look, "Long story."

"Grandma?" Lissa deflated. Even she had not heard the news, "I'm barely past twenty!"

"Oh, that sounds lovely," Cordelia was the complete opposite, "I can't wait to meet her."

"Ahem," Cherche cleared her throat while holding a package, "I do believe that it is customary to give gifts in Ylisse. Here you are, Milady."

"Thank you, Lady Cherche," Lucina happily accepted the gift and proceeded to open it. Inside was a stuffed wyvern that looked expertly made.

"I made it myself. I hope the little one likes it."

"I'm sure the baby will adore it," Lucina admired the craftsmanship. Lucina then spent the next half hour going through the various gifts she received in preparation for the birth. When it was all over, Lucina was taken aback by all the care.

"Thank you, everyone. It means a lot to me."

"Daw," Cynthia pulled her sister into a side hug, "We're all here for ya."

"I know. Thank you all."

Month 9

Robin groggily woke up at a slight disturbance on his bed. It was late. Late enough that it took him a good minute or so to fully wake up. When he did, he saw his wife flipping her shoes on as she shuffled into an upright position with some work.

"Lucina? Honey, what are you doing?"

"It's time," Lucina replied with an eerily calm voice, but her gritted teeth gave away her discomfort, "Baby's coming."

Robin blinked twice before frantically jumping out of the bed. Fortunately, they had prepared for this. Sleeping in presentable clothes, a bag of essentials, and Lissa and Lon'qu had been put up right next door instead of their usual room.

"How are you holding up?"

"It's pain, I can deal with pain," Lucina replied through gritted teeth. It was true. Robin wished it was not, but she had worked up the highest pain tolerance of anyone he knew. That said, he had heard that childbirth was a different kind of pain. He was naturally concerned.

"All the same, you stay here. I'll go get Lissa. Alright?"

"Very well," Lucina let out a shallow breath, "But no lollygagging."

"Understood. I'll be right back."

Lucina simply nodded and waited for assistance to arrive. It felt like hours, but in reality, Robin was only gone for a few minutes at most. Lissa quickly got to work while more help was on the way. Fearing he would be in the way, Robin went with Lon'qu to secure said help, but he was still back just in time to hear his wife groaning in pain leading him to tense up.

Not knowing what else to do as he waited, he started to pace. Walking usually helped him calm his nerves. It was met with marginal success, but it gave his mind something to focus on other than his wife's barely concealed utterances of pain. Fortunately, Lucina was sturdy, and it did not last long.

Soon, the cries of distress were replaced by a different kind of cry. Upon hearing his child's wailing, Robin quickly darted back into their bedroom to find Lucina looking exhausted, but all around quite content holding their baby in her arms.

Robin smiled as he carefully walked up beside her as a tired looking Lissa finished cleaning up.

"She's perfectly healthy. Lucina did pretty good. I'm almost jealous at how smoothly that went."

"Lucina is very strong," Robin eyed his wife affectionately.

"So, got a name in mind?"

Robin and Lucina looked at each other before answering in unison, "Morgan."

A/N: This one took a while. Once again, had a little help on this one. Next one I may have something with Morgan and Ophelia being friends again. I like their dynamic. Plus, with my setup, they're already cousins anyway.
