Morgan stared hazily at the papers before her. Being an exalt was a lot of work. A lot of boring work. Stifling a yawn, she almost longed for her days of exile with her parents. She hoped they were doing well at least.
Just as the young Exalt was about to fall face first onto her desk, the door swung open.
"Just got in a new batch of requests for troops. I've already weeded through most of it so they largely just need your signature." Caeldori sat the papers down before looking at her liege, "Wow, you look terrible."
"Thanks," Morgan replied dryly, "I'm just tired."
"You think? Even Ophelia's started to notice and her head is usually in the clouds."
"Sorry, but rebuilding a kingdom is a lot of work."
"Yes, and no one would argue you've done anything less than a great job. We're pretty much back on our feet. That said, I think it's time you took a break."
"Oh?" Morgan perked, "You have something in mind?"
Caeldori smirked in response, "In fact, I do. Ophelia and I put our heads together and got you this." The redhead offered her queen a slip of paper.
Grabbing it, Morgan began to read, "'One all expenses paid vacation to Anna's Tropical Beachtacular Resort.' Awesome name aside, I wouldn't want to leave you two behind."
"We thought about that too," The Wing Commander proceeded to pull out two more passes, "Normally I'm not one for self rewards, but we've all been working really hard."
Morgan beamed, "Alright then! Maybe you'll finally even meet your prince charming."
Caeldori blushed, "This is why I don't like you two reading my private stuff."
"Wow, this is amazing. Reminds me of the stories mom and dad told," Morgan was in awe as she walked out onto the beach. She was completely unashamed of her blue and white two piece and was ready to embrace the summer fun.
"It is beautiful, but I could do without the outfits," Caeldori tugged at the thin white shirt she had over her basic red two piece. It was accentuated by an almost comically large sun hat as she had no intentions of getting sunburnt as she already burned easily.
"Eh, it's part of the experience," Morgan dismissed as she scouted the beach, "Come on, let's find a good spot before Ophelia gets back."
Morgan led her Wing Commander on a miniature adventure to find an optimal spot to set up camp. Once they finally found something that fit Morgan's exacting standards, Caeldori planted her umbrella and laid down. Tuning out the world around her, she was just about to doze off.
"Morgan! Caeldori!" The redhead jumped at her sister's sudden arrival. The blonde, much like Morgan, had no trouble walking around in her one piece with an admittedly nice sun visor with the brand of Ylisse on it. Caeldori was almost jealous though it may have been more conservative than what her sister used to wear.
"Woah," Morgan calmed her cousin down, "What's gotten you so excited?"
"Behold!" Ophelia held out a weathered piece of parchment.
"An old dinner napkin?" Morgan raised her brow.
"No, a map to an ancient treasure of yore! Anna sold it to me for a steal."
Her sister groaned upon hearing that, "Sis, I think you've been had. I really doubt there's a treasure here on the resort."
"She assured me it was of the utmost authenticity."
"Of course she did," Caeldori laid back down and pulled the sun hat over her face before Morgan so rudely removed it, "Hey!"
"Oh, don't be a sourpuss. This sounds like fun. It's not like Anna would trap us or anything."
"I'm also concerned with wasting time," The redhead replied dryly.
"Looks like you're outvoted."
Caeldori groaned again, "Why me?"
"H-hey, wait up!" Caeldori pressed through some foliage, "This is hardly fitting attire for jungle crawling. Seriously, how are you not getting scratched up?" Ophelia had not given them the time to change into something more appropriate, so swimsuits it was apparently.
"Magic," Morgan popped her head back through some of the foliage, spooking the poor redhead.
"Please tell me we're close at least?"
"Hmm, I think so," Ophelia looked up from the map.
"Well, that's reassuring."
"It should be just a little bit further," Ophelia replied a bit more confidently as she took the lead once more. Only to stop past the next layer of vines.
"What's the ma-oh," Morgan stopped at the bank of the ravine, "Yeah, that's a bit of an obstacle."
"Oh!" Ophelia ran over and grabbed a vine nearby, "We could try swinging across."
"What?!"
"Great idea!"
Morgan did not hesitate as she grabbed the vine, gave it a test tug, and swung across without a care in the world. Making it across safely, she sent the vine back for Ophelia to likewise make the trip.
"Alright, Cael," Morgan cupped her hands around her mouth, "Your turn!"
"Er," Caeldori looked at the vine, "I'm not sure about this."
"Oh, come on! You're Wing Commander!"
"That's different!" Caeldori sighed, "Fine, fine." With one deep breath, Caeldori pushed off and swung over the gap and landed on the other side.
"What were you two thinking?"
"You know it was fun," Morgan teased.
"Maybe, but what if I had fallen?"
"I was ready with magic at a moment's notice," Morgan replied, "I enchanted my crown to act like a time and get off several decently powerful spells if need be. You would have been fine."
"Oh," Caeldori deflated. It was easy to forget that Morgan was actually very capable when she wanted to be.
"Now, where to, Ophelia?"
"Should be just over here."
Ophelia led them through a few more bits of jungle before coming out to a slight clearing with what looked to be ruins. The girls were a bit awestruck, but Caeldori was especially impressed.
"Wow, guess it was real."
"Told you," Ophelia stuck her tongue out.
"So what now?" Morgan asked, "As much as I'd love to tackle this, I don't think we're equipped for dungeon crawling."
"We have better gear in our rooms," Caeldori responded, "Iā¦suppose we could try, but I'm worried about traps."
"Oh, we'll be fine. Now, rest up, girls. Tomorrow, we dungeon crawl."
A/N: I do like this trio. Also, this is a rare case of a one shot actually being connected to an existing story.
Poor adult Tiki. Yeah, may be about done with FEH. This could certainly be seen as them being either being tone deaf or just not caring about their Western audience and/or why adult Tiki was voted in to begin with. So, may just nab my free Chrom and uninstall it. Not like this is the first thing I haven't liked. And while I shouldn't have to say this, but don't contact the artist over it though I know most people unhappy probably don't. Send feedback to IS all you want though.
