"Kamui…" The woman's caressing voice called to him as her body slowly emerged from the flames. He rushed towards the burning remains of the house and was struck by an unseen force. Frantic, he lunged again and again, screaming "Mother! Mother!" He could not reach her. She had made sure of that. No matter what, she would take his place.
Her determined expression softened as she looked into her son's eyes for the last time. "Go to Tokyo, Kamui. You must follow your destiny. It is time." Then, she turned and let the fire engulf her.
"Princess Hinoto?" She turned and stared into the worried eyes of her maids. Hinoto, a woman dwelling deep beneath the Diet Building, the mark on her forehead marked her as a dream gazer. It was her gift to divine the future in dreams, and her curse to be confined to a useless body that cannot move or speak. She can only convey her thoughts by projecting an illusion of motion and sound into the minds of others. Now, she sat as always in the pool of her robes, but her expression was tense, her eyes distant.
"My dream…I saw the boy, Kamui. He has come home."
