My sole intention of this story is to reveal Yumi's past. 90 percent chance this probablyISN'T her real past (ACTUALLY, I'm 150 percent it isn't. But hey, the point of fanFICTION...) Again, I barely pushed it this time, trying to keep it teen (Or older teen), but hey, it's real life for you, yknow? A sick, sad world we live in. Anyways, I introduced a new character in here, who is a key character to this plot, and the reason the story is called what it's called. Enjoy, and R&R- Kyo
Chapter 2 – Feelings, Like Knives, Cut Skin Deep
'You want me to WHAT!'
Yumi couldn't believe what Tonbo, the gang leader of her old group, the Dragonflies, just asked her and her ex-main squeeze what to do – attack another gang. The way he stated it, it was like something out of Dynasty Warriors: one person versus a thousand people. 'I seriously don't know, I mean… I have a music career! If word gets out that I was out, "deep-sixin' peeps" and I get caught, I - ' Simply, Takeru just placed a hand on Yumi's right shoulder. This surprisingly shut Yumi up. His smile somehow had an influence on her, just like when they first met ages ago.
'Yumi, relax. Since when have we ever gotten in trouble, or injured for that matter?' Takeru was cocky as ever, but the record will show that his gang is the deadliest in the land. Yumi smirked a bit and nodded. 'All right, I'm game. So, what's the plan?'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The clock read '23:46' on the small coffee table inside the vacation home Ami and Yumi were staying in. 'I guess watched pots never boil.' A small clever quip Ami said while staring at the door, awaiting her girlfriend to come home who, oddly enough, was late coming home. 'I seriously really hope nothing else is going on in her life again, because to be honest, I don't know if my body can handle anymore of this drama… and why am I talking to myself? Sigh, great, if things go the way they are, I'm going to need a vacation after this one.' Ami felt like a miserable pile of trash as she slid from the small love seat down to the floor, right next to many bags filled to the brim with clothing, as well as one small bag, with some video game that Yumi's been wanting for awhile but never had time to get. This a small surprise for Yumi, just a way for Ami to apologize for basically giving her the 'shove-off' from earlier. Ami looked at that small bag again.
'Then again…' She spoke again. '…She basically gave ME the "shove-off"…'
Just as that was said, Ami heard the front door open. In stumbled an exhausted, yet-lightly-drunk Yumi, smiling lightly as she dumbly walked into the living room. Ami could smell the scent of strong sake, with a metal-like smell. 'Is that… BLOOD?' Ami stood up and walked over to Yumi, who was trying to retain her balance. 'Yumi, where have you been all day? Seeing your friends is one thing, but I was worried about you, especially after all that's happened to you in the past few months. Yumi, you could've at least called! I'm stressed BEYOND help and – '
Yumi just walked by her and crashed on the couch, stretching and yawning, ending with a small burp. 'Ami, could you bitch to me about it in the morning or something? My head hurts, and I don't want you killing this good evening. I don't need the bitching.' After that, the indigo-haired woman was out, snoring loudly.
'B-Bitching…?' Ami said this quietly and sighed. She wanted to say something to contradict this, but thought it pointless, and just slumped down. She moved over to Yumi kissed her on the forehead and just slowly walked to her bedroom, still depressingly slouching.
'Good night, Yumi-chan…'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning came as the sun shined through the blinds in the living room. These blinding lights sort of irritated a tired Yumi, as she slowly opened her eyes up and yawned rather loudly. Scratching her back, she noticed a note on top of a small bag. She picked up the note and opened it up, only to read the following:
'Yumi –I want to apologize for acting like an "angry mother" last night. I was just concerned about you. I feel since we have been spending less and less time that we are drifting apart.
Ah, you don't want to hear my "bitching" so here. In the bag is the game you wanted forever now – "DAIRAIDAN-GAN Type Beta".
Well, my cell phone's on. If you're up for anything give me a ring, I know you're a busy person.
Love-love.
Ami-chan :)'
There was also a stain left by something, like a teardrop or something. 'Cool… the latest chapter in the DAIRAIDAN-GAN shooter series. Ami didn't have to do that for me. Man, now I feel like crap. Hm, I'll do something for her today, yeah. OH. I have an idea.' Yumi calls up Ami's phone, only to get her voice mail. Yumi decided to leave a message –
'Hey, Ami, it's me Yumi. Listen I feel bad for what I probably said last night or whatever. I want to make it up to you by a movie and then dinner, tonight around, say, 19:30? They have a showing for that cute movie you wanted me to see, the one starring that blue-haired cat girl, that crazy dancer. It's on me; it's just my way of saying… thanks for caring. Bye.'
Hanging up, Yumi decided to get her own things done before this date she made. 'Hmmmm, I think I'll hit up an arcade or so. Last night rocked, and tonight will be better!' Grabbing her black leather jacket, Yumi headed out to the local arcade.
A lot of hours passed by as Yumi I was walking down the sidewalk on her way to grab a quick bite to eat. The time was 18:30 and she seemed VERY happy for some reason. 'Man, those two Americans from Florida were pretty good at King of Fighters XI, especially the one with the glasses. He knows how to play a mean Kula, as well as K'. Oh, and the other guy playing with Kyo Kusanagi and Kasumi Todoh. Jeez. Matters not, 'cuz I WHUPPED 'EM BOTH – JAPANESE STYLED!' Yumi was quite happy, yes.
As she was walking, a woman, long black hair whose bangs covered her eyes and nose, sporting a black and blue long sleeve, and black baggy pants walked by her slowly. Yumi just looked back at her, considering she was almost dressed the same way she was. 'Huh, small world.' Yumi kept going on. Just she reached a street rail. Yumi heard someone address her. 'You can take the Osakan out of Osaka, yet she's still just as clueless.' Yumi didn't like what she heard and turned around to find that woman she walked by there. 'May I help you?' Yumi didn't want to be bothered. 'Oh, it's nothing really, just wondering how that "music" career of yours is working out for you, Yumi Yoshimura.' Yumi startled a bit, but then calmed down. 'Oh, big deal, just another one of my "fans". You seriously know nothing about me, bitch.' Yumi just turned away from her and continued her way home now.
'I know a lot more about you than you think, perhaps as much as your girlfriend, Ami Onuki.'
Yumi just stopped in her place, still not looking at her.
'Perhaps, not as much as Midori Greenfield.'
That did it. 'WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?' Yumi spun quickly just to see her stalker is nowhere in sight. This sent a small chill down her spine. 'How did she know about Midori Greenfield?' As she turned back around to head home, there she was – the raven-haired woman, smiling at her. 'The crazy Orochi girl. You can't keep your temper in place hm? Oh, yeah, by the way, way to let yourself get taken advantage of back there in Florida. Seriously, what idiot takes drugs from a bunch of strangers?' Yumi, who just wigged out a bit, just switched her 'calm' button to 'freaking pissed'. On that cue, Yumi ran right for the woman throwing a punch. 'SHUT THE HELL UP!' Right as she threw the punch, her hand got caught at the end of the punch but the mysterious woman's hand. Yumi's confidence just shrank dramatically. 'W-Who the hell is this person? And how the hell does she know about everything that's been happening to me for the past few months?' She smiled and lifted her bangs, showing off her evil squinting eyes, which were dark purple, not even a shine in her iris. 'There we go, I have a better look at you. Heh, no, you haven't grown up a bit.' Right there, Yumi's eyes widened as she got a good glimpse at her, weakening her grip in her fist. 'Who- I know who you are… y-you're-' to that, the –dark-haired woman drove her fist into her gut, hard enough to temporarily blind her for a few seconds. To this, Yumi dropped to the ground like a sack of clothes.
'Sorry, I expected someone grown up and mature. You are nothing. I don't think we've ever met, child.' The mysterious woman walked off, away to where ever. 'Oh, and this is for wasting my time.' Picking Yumi up by the collar, she chucked her as hard as she can to a dark alley, with just ONE arm! The impact with her body and the brick wall surely sent a shock through Yumi's system, thus knocking her out cold.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
'W-What do you want with me?' A teenage Osakan girl sat there in her school uniform on a stranger's bed. A dark-haired woman walks out wearing a black suit, the kind you'd see a man wear.
'Your clothes. I want them off. NOW.' The woman just sat there, crosses her legs and smiles evilly.
'I… beg your pardon?' The girl was confused and didn't know what was going on.
The woman shoved her onto the floor and stood up. 'You're just going to stand there like an idiot? Don't you get it? I just saved your ass there with those idiot dropouts, the least you can do is "pay me back". The woman was standing there, her arms crossed and smirking. 'Besides, this is the closest you'll get to anyone ever caring for your damn measly soul.'
That said, the young Osakan slowly opened her shirt to reveal herself, so to speak.
'Oh my.' The woman looked at her and studied her torso area. 'You don't even wear a bra. Hah, what does that say about you? So, kid, what's your name exactly?'
'Y-Yumi, ma'am.' Right there, the woman took her knife out and smiled evilly to her. The young girl was scared out of her wits. 'Oh this? Heh, I like to make my "play-things" suffer a bit first. Address me as… "Sakura-sama". I just hope you and I can become close friends, Yumi.' As she said that she took a nice jab right at the young girl's side.
'Aaaaugh! It hurts, Sakura-sama!'
'Sakura-sama –!'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours passed by, as Yumi awoke to coughing up some blood on the ground. 'Augh…there so much pain coursing through my freaking body. Gotta admit, people seem to keep it interesting.' Then she stopped and realized whom she ran into. Right there, the silent panic attack started happening and her eyes widened again. 'Holy shit, that woman. I've seen her before… Sakura-sama. Goddammit, she's the main reason why I'm so damn bitter nowadays…' Yumi slowly got up, rubbing her left shoulder. 'Augh, that freakin' bitch. When I find her, I'll – ' Yumi then looked at her watch, wondering how long she was out for. It then hit her –
'Oh, CRAP! AMI!' Remembering what she said to Ami, she checked the display on her cell phone, only to see eight messages!
Without thinking, Yumi ran out of the alley she was in all the way to their place they were staying. Upon opening her door, she walked inside slowly. 'Hmm, it's dark in here. Maybe Ami's in the r-' Just then, the lights came on from the lamp near the couch – it was Ami!
'A-Ami!' Yumi stopped to see a rather livid Ami, sitting on the couch. She gritted her teeth a bit before opening her mouth.
'Where the heck have you been all evening! I thought we had plans, Yumi! Oh, and what's this! More BLOOD on your clothing! Oh great Yumi, just freakin' great! You know, just when I think I know you, you pull off more crap! And you don't even bother to pick up your phone! You know, I seriously don't know why I do the things I do for you!'
'A-Ami, wait, I -'
'No, I don't give a SHIT what you have to say, I don't want to freakin' hear it! All you do is give me excuse after excuse, AFTER LOUSY DAMN FUGGIN' EXCUSE!'
Yumi was in quite a shock, as she's never seen Ami this livid since… well, a few months ago.
'Ami, you don't understand, this woman from my past just showed up, and well she is the reason why I -'
Once more, Ami just cut her off. 'I don't care, Yumi. Don't get me involved with your little drama bullshit, ok? If you want to go around doing your whole "badass mama" thing, do it, I don't give a damn. JUST LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE, ALRIGHT!' That said Ami stormed in her room and slammed the door rather loud, knocking a picture of her and Yumi off the wall and breaking it on the floor.
Yumi fell straight to her knees with a blank expression on her face. After a few seconds to gather what just happened, Yumi couldn't help but release a few tears. She just covered her face with her own hands, sobbing away. After a minute or so, she just put her hands on the floor, trying to grasp her situation. 'Why is this happening to me? This hurts a lot. Just like it did, eleven years ago.' Yumi tried to help herself up, letting herself out the door.
'Not even Ami wants to deal with me right now. This is bad. I wonder what the Dragonflies are up to now…'
With that said, Yumi took out a box of cigarettes and slipped one between her lips. 'I wonder if Takeru has a light.'
END OF CHAPTER 2. NEXT – OLD HABITS ARE HARD TO BREAK.
Heh, anger much? Well, Ami's ooc, Yumi, somewhat ooc, and yeah. Well, when someone's OOC, I personally think it makes them more real and a bit beleivable. I mean, Ami can't be happy all the time, can she? No, didn't think so. Well, anyways, Read and Review. Flamers get jacked by Rockman Z and his pal Zero. Til next time - Kyo
