Take note – I am in NO way associated with Cartoon Network, Renegade Animation, the REAL Puffy AmiYumi or Sam Register. I do NOT own Hi-Hi PAY in any way, shape or form. Again, this is based off the ANIMATED Puffy not the REAL one.

Sorry for lateness, there is no excuse. To make that up, I did some more Puffy Shoujo-Ai fanart. Wanna see it? Just go to my DeviantART site (Which you can find on my main page) and check it out there (It's entitled Watashi o... something or another. It's betterthan it sounds...)

Anywho, this chapter returns to its roots; Yes, I actually started throwing some elements from my first fanfic into this one. Thanks to Dave, I also threw in some of his hot ideas and what you get is a whole bunch of action and drama, just the way you like it, if you read this far. It's basically 'Yumi vs. The World!'

Also there's another flashback somewhere, and anotherimportant Author's Note, explaining a bit of the freak-out Yumi had in the first story.

Blah, blah, blah. Enjoy, and R&R- Kyo

Chapter 3 – Old Habits Are Hard To Break

'I will never understand that Yumi!'

The dark bedroom was lonely for Ami, who didn't mind it just so she could complain and whine about the girl she promised her heart to. As much she tried, Ami couldn't help but release a stream of tears down her face. She felt like, for the second time now, her heart's been ripped out, stomped on, and stabbed right with the knife to her back. 'I honestly ask myself – why do I tolerate this? If it hurts so much to care for someone, then it's not really the most ideal thing! I would wish…sometimes, I just wish Yumi would actually kill -' She stopped thinking about what she was going to say and took a deep breath, wiping her tears with her bed sheet. 'Oh, God, Ami, get a hold of yourself, that's the last thing you'd wish on ANYONE, even Yumi…'

Now collecting herself, Ami gets up and goes outside her room to see that Yumi was nowhere in sight. This was good for her, because she needed to cool off after attacking Yumi and this would benefit Yumi to do what she wanted, Ami thought. 'Not surprised. I'll just sit here and wait for her to come home then. Whenever THAT will be…' Sitting herself on the couch, Ami tried her best not to cry or anything. Trying to lie to herself, Ami wipes something from her left eye.

'Great, something must be in my eye.'

And so Ami waited…

…And waited….

…And waited….

The time was now 2:34. By now, Ami was fast asleep. She couldn't keep up for too long by Yumi's odd schedule and for that she has collapsed over a box of tissues, as well as some discarded crumbled up ones. Right there, the sound of a door closing woke her up a bit. 'Y-Yumi…?' An indigo-haired woman walked right in, somewhat smelling like nicotine and alcohol and plops down on the couch, with a cough. 'That woman… she can't leave my mind…'

Ami was a slightly angry but couldn't help to be curious. 'What woman, Yumi?' Right then, Yumi snapped back at her. 'The woman who has been stalking me, Ami. Oh boy, NOW you seem to care!' Yumi flailed her arms a bit as she said this. She got up, staggering a bit due to the fact she was a bit tipsy. 'That woman has been following me for the past couple of months. I don't know how and I don't know why either, but from she knows about me, there's not telling that this is the same person from my teenage years… the one who caused me to be like, well, this.'

Ami now gets up from where she was laying. 'Yumi, I don't care what's going on. First off, this is not a good excuse to be SO late until whatever in the morning! On top of that, don't blame other people for your problems, if you are angry, that's PROBABLY because you just HATE people and all you ever do is act so cynical! I'm in a very miserable mood right now, Yumi-chan, and guess what! I blame myself. Why? Well, maybe because I tolerate such CRAP like this from you!'

Yumi closes her eyes, gritting her teeth a bit. 'Ami… stop, if you know what's good for you.'

'No, Yumi, you got me started – the vacation, your coming home late, this relationship! You've hardly done anything but bitched and whined the whole time, and I think it is fair for me to finally say something Yumi! The whole point of this damn vacation was to actually catch up on our lives! But no! You're obsessed with yet MORE drama! And another thing – '

Yumi clenches her fist growling a bit under her breath. 'Ami… shut up RIGHT NOW.'

'Hmph. Why should I?' Ami didn't give a damn.

Right then and there, in one swipe, Yumi whipped out a bloodstained knife, and it would seem the red stains are quite fresh. During that quick motion, the knife was pointed half an inch away from Ami's neck. Yumi's eyes lost that little gleam that made her look possessed and Ami couldn't help but share the same feature; only her expression was out of fear of getting her jugular slit. Ami just froze there, twitching silently. She wanted to cry when she saw Yumi's evil stare and bloodthirsty smile, the same one that said 'Yumi left the building, here comes the overdrive!'. The one that Ami remembered back at the concert they had months ago in Florida.

Going back to Ami's question, Yumi answered it in a sick blood-lusting voice. 'Why, I might just cut you off, Ami.'

'Yumi… no, not again…' Ami released a few tears as she saw her loved one snap. 'What's wrong, punk? You suddenly don't want to speak all of a sudden.' This possessed-looking Yumi really wanted to drive this knife into her. BADLY. She wanted an excuse to stick that knife right into her trachea just to shut her up for good. 'Yumi… I'm sorry. Really…' As Ami cried that out quietly, something came over Yumi. That gleam came back into her eye. And as for that smile… it left. She looked around a bit to see what she was doing, only to be in shock to find her self on the holding end of a knife… right at Ami's throat!

'A-Ami…! I'm sorry, I just I…' Ami couldn't help but stare in awe, only to fall to the floor holding back from crying. 'It's obvious this is how you feel about me, Yumi. You started this relationship, and I guess if you want to end it this way, I… I… ' Ami sniffles a bit as she looked up a bit to be in quite for a shock! Seeing Yumi pointing the knife right at her own neck caused this! 'I'm sorry, Ami. What I attempted to do is UNACCEPTABLE.'

Without thinking, Ami grabbed Yumi's arm, trying to prevent her from making a huge mistake. 'YUMI! BAKA NO ROBA! DOSHITE!' Ami may not be as strong as Yumi, but she tried all she could to make her stop. 'LET GO OF ME, MORON! If you keep interfering like this, I might hurt you again!'

'But suicide is NOT the answer, Yumi! It NEVER is!'

'You'd say different if you've been through the same shit I have!'

'That's why you have people like me to HELP YOU.' One last pull made Yumi throw the knife into a wall right close to Ami. The both of them fell to the floor, the both of them breathing hard. After a quick breather, the sound that was in that room was someone lightly sobbing. Ami wasn't doing this so it had to be someone else. Ami turns to see Yumi sitting up and crying to herself. 'Y-Yumi…' Ami wanted to give her a hug, but Yumi just slapped it away. 'I'm sorry, I'm damaged goods… I'm going to kill you one day if I stick around.' With that said, Yumi gets up and runs out the door.

'Yumi, stop! Yumi, we can get you help for this – Y-Yumi… YUUUUMI-!' Ami just hugged herself for comfort there on the floor. 'I should be careful what I wish for…'

------------------------------------------------------------------------

A warm summer morning in Tokyo set the mood for the people that day, all except for one girl. An Osakan girl, who was now in her late teens, just sat there on that concrete pipe near the abandoned warehouse. All she could do was sit there and think about how her teenage years just basically sucked for her. Right then and there, some sleazy greasy haired brute walked up to her.

''Ey there, hotcakes. How'd you like to get lucky today, eh?' This guy was basically a mo-hawked 80s-wanna-be punk who thought with his pants. 'Hmph, go away.' The girl just replied back emotionlessly. 'I don't have time to waste, ESPECIALLY WITH SCRUBS LIKE YOU.' She then covered her mouth right there, in shock of what she said. 'I- I'm sorry! Eh, heh, er…'

'Well then…' He cracked his knuckles and moved his fingers like a greedy treasure hunter ready to grab the gold. 'I'll just have to take without permission, per say.' At this point, the girl knew she was helpless and could do nothing to fend this brute off if she tried. However, right there, a guy popped out from behind a tree in an instant like a ninja and just roundhouse-kicked the guy in the face, followed by a fast right cross into the gut. 'Gruh… a wise guy, huh?' The 'hero', who donned a black trench coat over his bare torso and acid-washed jeans and sneakers and had slick-back spiky hair, was hopping a bit like a street fighter from the Japanese movie 'Dead or Alive'.

'Well, only when you're around, mac.' He then signaled for the brute to come hither. Without skipping a beat, the brute got back to his feet to try to swing on the guy, only to have this mysterious hero dodge each attempt and comes back with knee to the brute's jaw. The shock of this caused the monstrous man to collapse.

'Tch, what a knucklehead. Ah well, by the time he wakes up, Tonbo will be here. And then, eh.' He shrugged. 'Whatever happens back here, happens. So kid, what's the deal?'

The girl finally stood up and spoke up. 'Uh… well, first off, thanks. Oh, and secondly, I was just sitting here, recollecting my thoughts and what not.' She was a tad shy. 'Later this week, I am supposed to head over to some musical talent tryout thing and well, I'm just looking for a place to stay here. Of course, I don't know anyone here…'

'Peh, well, you were foolish enough to stumbled upon here. This is Dragonfly territory.' The hero replied.

'Foolish? Watch it…' The girl was a bit snippy to him. He just chuckled and laughed. 'Ah, I have some apartment place I live at down the road from here. I know this is weird, but why don't you stay with me?' The Osakan girl looked down and held her arm. 'You've already done enough for me. It's ok.'

'Please, I insist. It's no problem. OH – by the way, the name's Takeru Kageyama. You are…?'

The Osakan girl sighed a bit and cleared her throat. 'The name's Yumi Yoshimura. Heh, one day, I will be a Legendary Goddess of Rock!'

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Sigh. Man, better days…' Yumi got up from sitting on a concrete pipe next to an abandoned warehouse. The moonlight was strong that night and the fog just started to appear. 'I wonder if Takeru's up.' With that said, she proceeded to head over to his place. Walking down into an abandoned alleyway, she just stopped there. 'GOD DAMMIT!' As she screamed that she punched a brick wall as hard she could, busting a few cracks into it. The sound of her scream attracted a few uninvited guests. The rival gang of the Dragonflies to be precise. This gang was led by the same brute that harassed her from her past!

'Well, well… the so-called "Legendary Goddess of Rock." You remember me, babe? You're little boyfriend there just so happened to have gave me a hard time years ago. Well, I don't see him around which means things didn't work out, eh? Well then, what say you and I rock this night out?'

Yumi's bangs were covering her eyes as she looked down. She just simply smirked and scoffed. 'Hmph, go away. I don't have time to waste, ESPECIALLY on scrubs like you. Oh, hey, deja-vu.' She kept the same smug smirk. 'Well then…' He cracked his knuckles and moved his fingers like a greedy treasure hunter ready to grab the gold that reappeared after a thousand years. 'I'll just have to take without permission, per say.' He, followed by the rest of the thugs, started coming close to her. As he lunged for her, his body was stopped by her hand right on his chest. She didn't budge. He was shocked. She started laughing. He was confused. She laughed louder. He backed up a bit. She clenched the shoulders of her jacket and smiled grin-to-grin, her eyes glowing a hot red. She decided now would be a good time to quote that sexy half-demon with the red trench coat.

'This party's getting crazy – LET'S ROCK.' As she said that she lunged for seven of the thugs, and one by one each one dropped to the floor, covered by crimson scratch marks, seeping with some blue smoke steaming from them and blood. The erratic Osakan stood there to lick some of the blood off the back of her right hand. The brute was staring at her, now scared witless. 'W-What the hell is up with you!' She cracked her own neck by just bending her head one way and just signaled his cronies to come hither. In a split second, fifteen of them just froze right there as Yumi passed right through each one. 'Bite the flames in hell.' As she said this, she clenched her fist. The second she done this, liters of blood flew out each one of the thugs, thus knocking them to the ground. Some more thugs came and she turned around to hold her hand up, just to create a nice blue flame. 'MUDA-DA!' Screaming to the group to be useless, she made a arm-swing motion, as if she were bowling and a huge pillar of purple flames came towards them, making them freeze in place… …but burning the hell out of them!

'Heh… it'll wear off… sometime. Now then…' She looks to see the brute running off. 'I must admit…'

Just as he turns the other corner, he stops to breathe for a bit. When he looked forward, there was Orochi-Awakened Yumi standing right there, holding her fist, which was giving off some blue flames. To continue what she was saying –

'…It feels kinda nice running your sorry ass ragged for a change!' With that said, the brute fell to his knees and looked at her, ready to actually…cry!

'I'm sorry…' He begged for mercy, that of which she wasn't ready to give.

'Shyeah, you are, aren't you? Asobi wa owari da!' After screaming that playtime was over, She then ran right at him, grabbed him and started scratching him up to death, making blood fly everywhere. 'NAKE! SAKEBE! SOSHITE SHINE!' She then grabbed him and engulfed him in blue flames and just chucked his body into the alley. As soon as he landed, she spat right on his body and just walked off. 'Sonamama shine.'

(Author's note – Fighters fan rejoice! Some of you might recognize Yagami Iori's screams when he beats the crap out of his opponents. For those who don't play fighting games, or don't know Japanese, Yumi screamed out 'Cry! Yell! Then Die!' As she walked off, she then simply said 'Just lay there and die.' Also the Orochi-Awakened thing is something Yagami does. When he goes into this state, his body just wants one thing – pure violence and blood. This is triggered if someone were to have the blood of Orochi passed down in his or her family. What? You don't know if Yumi ISN'T part of the Blood of the Riot…she has, after all, been in a few horror flicks. ;)…)

Right as she was about to leave the area, her blood pressure calmed a bit, and the red glow of her eyes left as she came back to normal. She held her head in pain. 'Ah, damn, what the hell…hm?' She moved her hand from her head to see a red liquid on her hand. Breathing hard from panic, she looked around her body to see herself covered in a plethora of blood and then saw all the bodies that were lying on the street. Some most seem like they won't even make it in the morning.Looking at this sight made the iris in her eye shrink. You could see bags under her eyes as she silently panicked. Didn't move, didn't twitch. She just… saw what she caused.

Then, this was followed by blackness.

THUD. Her body then collapsed.

END OF CHAPTER 3. NEXT – ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS?

Mmmmm... I love the smell of a good blood-filled battle. Especially since I had an excuse to make another KOF Orochi reference. Go me. Anyways, the next chapter more of the character 'Sakura' will show up, as well as some more Ami time. Lots of it in fact. So stick around, kids. You might learn something.
