The trio had a few calm days before they were going to do anything that required a lot of energy or brain power. The court paperwork didn't have to be done till the end of the week so Tony wanted to push that to the back of his mind until he needed to focus on it.
Remus came up with the perfect distraction.
For he, Tony and Mim to go to Diagon Alley.
The largest wizarding fathering in the UK and Ireland bar Hogwarts.
On the fourth day the group got ready and made their way towards the centre of London.
"Ah we are here," Remus smiled after the group had been walking for 15 minutes. The two looked around excitedly.
"Where?" Mim asked.
"There," Remus said pointing. "The Leaky Cauldron."
"Oh, it looks… dirty."
Remus laughed at the little girl. Tony, however, was looking at the two in confusion.
"Oh right," Remus said bashfully. "Mim, hold your Dad's hand, so he can see."
Mim let go of Remus's hand and clasped her fathers. Tony's jaw dropped as the tiny, grubby-looking pub appeared before him. The three went inside, Mim huddled close to her father as they saw the dark room, her eye wondering to the old bartender who had lost most of his white hair. A small island just before the crown seemed to be all that remained.
"Ok," Remus said as he guided the two. They had made sure that Mim had a hat to help hide her famous scar. Hopefully preventing her from being recognised. "We are just going to head to the other side of the pub. The entrance is at the brick wall in the back."
The two watched in amazement as Remus tapped his wand in a sequence and the bricks began to move, revealing the bright and colourful street behind. They stepped through the archway. Mim looked quickly over her shoulder and saw the archway shrink instantly back into solid wall.
"Tony we should go to the bank first, get some money," he said smiling at their reactions to the magical world.
As they continued to walk towards the bank, Mim jumped at the sound of an owl hooting.
They had reached a snowy white building that towered over the other little shops. Standing beside its burnished bronze doors, where a goblin wearing a uniform and a very curly beard was waiting. She noticed his hands and feet were long. He bowed as they walked inside. Now they were facing a second pair of doors, silver this time, with words engraved upon them. As she read it she clutched a little closer to her father. A pair of goblins bowed them through the silver doors and they were in a vast marble hall. About a hundred more goblins were sitting on high stools behind a long counter, scribbling in large ledgers, weighing coins in brass scales, examining precious stones through eyeglasses. There were too many doors to count leading off the hall, and yet more goblins were showing people in and out of these.
The trio made their way to the counter and Remus did most of the talking.
"Ah yes the new Stark account," the goblin said. "Do you have the key?"
Remus looked at Tony who pulled the key out with his free hand.
"Yes, yes everything is in order. I will have someone take you down to both vaults. Griphook!"
When he arrived, they followed him toward the end of the marbled hall.
As they made it to the end Tony and Mim were surprised by the drastic change in décor. Gone was the beautiful marble and now stone, with little flaming torches as the only source of light. It sloped steeply downward and there were little railway tracks on the floor. Griphook whistled and a small cart came hurtling up the tracks toward them.It wasn't long through the twisting passages that they made it to the vault.
"Ok Tony," Remus said as Griphook opened the door. "You just take what you need for today and then we will come back when we need more another time,"
"Errr right," Tony said.
"The gold ones are Galleons," he explained. "Seventeen silver Sickles to a Galleon and twenty-nine Knuts to a Sickle, it's easy enough."
"That is unnecessarily confusing." Tony said. Mim nodded in agreement with her father.
Remus continued to show the two the rest of the shops. They all enjoyed some amazing ice cream and had some cuddles at the pet stops. After an exciting but tiring day the group made there way back home.
The group stayed for the trial and for the full moon. The trial had resulted in minor prison time for both Mr and Mrs Dursley and Dudley was to be placed with a foster family. The decision on whether Mr and Mrs Dursley could have their child back in their custody with social services was something Tony did not intend to keep up with. He had gotten some justice for his daughter and that was all he cared about.
The day before the plane was planned to head back to America, something happened for the first time since their little family had been together.
The morning before their trip home, Tony was drinking coffee in the kitchen, while Remus was resting in his room from two days earlier.
Mim was playing with some of her toys when one began to fly, both she and Tony watched as it floated up to the ceiling. Once it had, the little girl looked up at her father in horror.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" she panicked.
"It's alright," he said gently, putting his coffee down. "You're not in trouble. Shh, come here," he said, kneeling down and holding his arms out towards the little girl, she looked at him nervously. "You're not in trouble," he repeated. "Come on Cuddle Monkey."
She came a little closer, she looked up at the doll, which was still on the ceiling then at her father. He smiled encouragingly. She came closer again, walking right next to him. He reached forward wrapping her into his arms, pulling her into his chest kissing the top of her head.
"There," he murmured kissing her head again. "See you are not in trouble. It was an accident, it's ok."
"How do we get it down?" she whispered.
"I'm not sure, but I am sure your Uncle Remus will know. For now, she is lost in space. Taken by the evil aliens," he said, he began to tickle her as his voice became deeper. She laughed squirming at his touch.
"Daddy you are silly,"
"I'm silly!" he said mock offended, letting her go and putting his hands to his chest.
"Yep,"
"Well, if I am silly, that must mean that we can have breakfast for dinner. How does that sound?"
"Really silly," she giggled.
"Perfect," he said, standing back up and making his way into the kitchen.
Hope you all enjoyed this, I was temped to have the court case, but I am not super knowable about courts, so I just didn't want to write it badly. Got a few ideas before she goes off to Hogwarts and a few tricks up my sleeve about her time there too xx
