Questline: The Power of One
Chapter 8.
The Good Things That Life Offers Us
It's the day of the tournament and I'm starting to get excited. Caulifla told me we would only do some light training today to get warmed up for it. We did the light training and up until now, we have been able to keep my increasing strength and power a secret. However, that hasn't stopped some of them from trying to flirt with me anyways.
Caulifla and I tried sleeping together to recreate what Kasa and I manage to do but all attempts have failed. One thing really did backfired though. I can't seem to keep Caulifla away from me at night now. I guess what Kasa said might have been true. Caulifla demands that I never mention it to a single person. Jokes on her though. She never said I couldn't mention it to a taken person. Loop holes are the best kind of holes in all of existence in my opinion.
Kasa sleeps over every night now just to be there incase something does happen. Cabba has been training with me and Caulifla lately. Probably to prepare for the tournament.
We had a beach trip a few days ago. It was great bonding time for all of us. I really enjoyed it.
Cabba and I are making our way to the tournament as we speak. They held the womens division first but Cabba and I took that time to head to the house and relax a bit. Cabba had his fight first. After him it was my turn and Kale, Kasa, and Caulifla stuck around saying they wanted to see what rank Cabba and I place in.
My first match was starting.
As I walk into the arena, I can see my opponent.
The saiyan looked at me and said, "So your the little Earthling everyone has been talking about for the past couple weeks. Word is your only slightly above average for an earthling when it comes to power. I suggest just calling off the match for your safety."
"Well if what your saying is true, then this should be an easy fight for you." I said as got in a ready position.
Kid, I like your spirit." He said as he stood ready.
"Begin!" The announcer shouted.
I stand there waiting for him to make the first move.
As our eyes continue to make contact, He starts by rushing into me. He makes contact, throwing combos to my stomach and face.
He backs off and I fall to my knees.
"It's as I said. You need to quit now." He said as he stood there.
I don't reply to his comment. Instead, I slowly stand back up and continue to look at him. I take the ready position again and wait for him to make the first move.
"You have heart kid. However, heart won't be enough to get you through this tournament." he states.
"Aleks! Remember the tournament all those years ago! Don't use your muscle! Use your battle knowledge!" I hear Sakata shout over the crowd.
He then rushes me again but just as reaches me, I throw a punch at him. He blocks it by pushing it off to the left but I use the momentum of his push to swing around and throw a powerful kick to his stomach. It hits him hard enough to knock the breath out of him and he collapse to his knees.
I stand back and give him the same courtesy he gave me by letting him regain his breath and get up one last time.
"There's the old Aleks I remember all those years ago. Its just like back then. He tries to read his opponent before he acts on anything. If they give him any sort of handicap in the fight, he always returns the favor." Sakata says to Cabba, Kasa, Caulifla, and Kale.
"As noble and honorable as that is though, it could cost him the fight." Caulifla adds.
"The saiyan finally gets back to his feet and asks, " Why didn't you finish me? I was down."
"Just giving you the same courtesy you gave me." I said.
He spits to the ground and doesn't rush me this time but instead cautiously makes his way to me keeping his guard up. Once he reaches me, he throws a combo of punches. I manage to dodge and block most them. He then pulls back to throw a powerful punch and manages to hit me in jaw but as the force from his punch sends me back, I rebound with a kick upward straight to his chin.
We both collapse to the ground and struggle to get back up. When we both get back up, he turns and tries to rush me but as he reaches me, he throws a punch while I'm still bent over and not facing him.
The punch grazes the back of my neck as I bend downward just slightly. I then spin back up toward him throwing a missive uppercut to his chin sending him to the ground unconscious.
The ref runs to him to check if he is still breathing and then signals that he's okay.
The announcer then shouts, "We have a winner! In a stunning display of two nearly equals in battle, the earthling has just claimed his first victory. This is the first fight we have seen today that wasn't completely one-sided."
"Please give it up for our winner, Aeks!" The announcer shouts.
"That was our last match for today everyone. The tournament will resume again tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy your day." The announcer says.
As the crowd roared with sheer joy and amazement, I had many saiyans running up to me from out of nowhere trying to talk to me.
I felt a hand grab me while I was in the crowd of saiyans and it pulled me away. As we got out of the crowd, I could see it was Kasa who pulled me away and she began pulling me all the way back to Caulifla's house.
After we entered the house, Kasa pounced onto me cheering and praising me for my victory and kept hugging me.
"Kasa, Kasa, can't breath." I barely managed to say as every drop of air left my lungs.
She lets go and just as she does, the door busts open and Caulifla jumps on me and begins squeezing me as she hugs me and says, "That last move you did was so amazing. Aleks, you were so awesome out there."
Kasa then pries me out of Caulifla's grip and I let out a big gasp for air.
Sakata, Cabba, and Kale all come walking in behind Caulifla. Sakata then says, "That's the Aleks I remember. You never cease to amaze me."
Later that day was mail and tournament letters were their priority it seems because we all got quite a bit. Kale and I seemed to have got the most out of everyone.
"Hey there Aleks. Big fan of yours. The way you fought in your first match was incredible and you have earned the respect of all saiyans here in town. We should really get together and you could show me a few things some day. Your friend, Heshene." One letter said.
Another letter read, "Aleks you were amazing. You should definitely hang out with me at my place sometime soon. We could have a good time. With love, Marlexes."
"Yeah, I'm already done with these letters." I said as I tossed those two letters back into the pile.
"Hey Aleks, could you help me out with something really quickly?" I heard Kasa ask from in the bedroom.
I get up and walk over to the bedroom door and open it to see Kasa on the ground struggling to reach behind and zip up her top.
"I'm really sorry to bother you with this Aleks but I can't reach it. I bought this yesterday and I didn't think it would be this difficult." She said.
I walk over to her and pick her up and then walk behind her and as I help her zip up her top and tie the strings that followed after, I asked her, "Why buy this if it's going to be difficult to put on and take off?"
"I don't know. I thought it looked pretty and so I wanted it." She said.
"There, all done." I said.
She turns around and then looks at me and asks,"So? What do you think? Does it look okay?"
"It looks amazing on you Kasa. Your definitely going to turn a few heads with it." I said with a smile.
She smiles back and says," Really? Thank you Aleks. I'm glad It doesn't look bad. I was a little worried to be honest."
I was about to walk out of the room, but before I could, Kasa stopped me again and asked, "Before you go, could you untie and unzip me, please?"
"Sure thing." I said as I turn around and begin to untie and unzip her top."
She turns around right as I finished and says, "Thank you so much Aleks."
"No problem Kasa. I'm going to leave the room now so you can get changed."I told her.
I walk out and close the door behind me.
As I get to the living room, I get ambushed by Caulifla who says, "You know you just blew the opportunity she gave you right?
"I wasn't looking for any opprotunity. Kasa is my friend. I'm not going to take advantage of that." I told her.
"Your way too nice for your own good. I bet Kasa wanted you to make a move. No girl presents that kind of opportunity to a guy without some sort of intention in mind." Caulifla says.
"You may be right Caulifla. But right now I need to stay focused. This tournament is giving me way too much unwanted attention and we also need to find a to get us all into Hyrule." I told her.
Caulifla stops me by softly fist bumping me in the face and says "You need to relax Aleks. Enjoy what life offers you. Don't go rejecting everything that's fun and good in life. Otherwise, your life will never feel worth it when the struggles do come."
I look away from Caulifla and walk over to the couch. She then says, "The bedrooms that way Aleks."
As I keep walking, I say, "And the couch is this way."
I lay down on the couch and then said, "I heard what you had to say Caulifla, and your right. I do need to just let the good things happen. Right now the good thing is closing my eyes and resting."
I look over to Caulifla and smile. Then I look back up to the ceiling and close my eyes.
Later that night, I wake back up and see Kasa sleeping in the chair. I got up and walked over to the bedroom and look around to see if anyone was in the bed but it was empty. I pushed the door open and then walked back to the living room. I grabbed the sleeping Kasa and carried her to the bed and place her on it. I then roled the covers over her.
I turned around and right before I was able to walk away, I felt Kasa's hand grab my wrist. I turn my head to look at her and she gently pulls me down to lay next to her and she then said, "Caulifla was right. You are way to nice for your own good. But that's also what I like about you."
I couldn't help but smile and say, "Well, it's only because I care about you."
We both close our eyes and begin to go to sleep.
But before I fall asleep, I suprisingly feel her lips press up against mine and then she said, "That makes two of us."
