Groaning into my pillow I turn around and reach across the bed for Edward. I hate waking up early especially when it is freezing. Searching the other side of the bed with my hand it comes up with nothing. Opening my eyes, I glance at the other side, where was Edward? Perhaps he was called out by his men? Batman may have found one of his riddles or something?

I am not upset, especially as there is no note or anything! Closing my eyes, I try and fall back to sleep and not think about the missing rogue. Maybe he's gone out for a morning jog … yeah even to me that sounded incredibly silly. Growling I punch my pillow into a more comfortable position before slamming my head into it.

Okay. I admit it. I'm slightly upset.

Sighing I bury my head in my pillow and try to think of anything that was nice and happy. Midway through my thinking of how much fun it would be to get a little kitten or puppy the front door opens and shuts quietly. Laying still I try not to let my head go mad with ideas; it might not be Edward, it might be a serial killer coming to kill me, harvest my organs and wear my face as a mask. Wasn't that a film … I'm sure it was a film.

Hearing a few rustles and two shoes hitting the floor a heavy weight dipped the mattress as the covers were moved slightly. So a serial killer who likes to cuddle first?

I felt a soft kiss placed on my temple as a cold arm and hand wrapped around my middle pulling me close to a chest. Smelling a familiar cologne, I can't help but let a little smile slip, turning around in his grip I peek up at Edward through my eyelashes and see his sheepish grin.

"May I ask where you had wandered off to?" I mumbled into his chest as he warms his hands on my hips.

"It's a surprise, sorry I woke you SongBird. Go back to sleep love." Kissing the tip of my nose he pulled me tight against him. Confused, what on earth did he have to go and get this time in the morning? On that thought, what was open this time in the morning?

"You didn't blow anything up, did you?" His chuckle made me smile as I close my eyes again listening to his steady heartbeat.

"No, nothing was blown up Clara. Now, sleep." Rolling my eyes, or attempting to, I snuggle back down and let sleep take me once more.

-…..-

"Clara time to wake up." A soft whisper brushed against my ear as I clutched onto my pillow. Mumbling 'no' I bury my face back into the pillow. "Come on Clara, it's time for your surprise!" Biting my lip I try to decide whether staying in bed is better than getting out of the warmth and seeing what this surprise was.

Safe to say I'm nosey, opening my eyes I turn over so I was on my back and see Edward grinning down at me with a tray in his hand. Confused, I rub my eyes while sitting up. Looking down at the tray it had pancakes smothered in chocolate sauce with strawberries and blueberries sprinkled over them. A glass of pineapple juice and a gorgeous emerald rose laid by the side of my cutlery. Looking up at Edward I could see he was extremely nervous, I almost felt my cheeks split from the smile I sent him!

"Oh Ed! This is amazing! I'm lost for words!" I squeal out as a small blush dusts his cheeks as he places the tray on my lap and sits next to me. "This is what you went out for this morning?"

"Yeah, you weren't supposed to know though." He taps the end of my nose with a cheeky grin. Digging into my pancakes a small moan escapes me at the taste of them.

"You made these?" I try not to talk with my mouth full but I couldn't help it, I needed to eat them as quick as possible they were that gorgeous.

"What's with that tone of surprise love?" He teases me as he steals a big strawberry off my plate and dips it in chocolate. Raising an eyebrow at me his grin soon turns slightly feral as he lifts the covered strawberry up to my lips. Biting softly into the fruit I moan again as I stare into his green eyes watching them darken to a lovely emerald as he watches my lips. Giving him a smirk of my own I lick a bit of chocolate from my lip and go back to my pancakes. Out of the corner of my eye I can see him close his own and take a deep breath before opening them again. It seems I affect him as much as he affects me.

Finishing my pancakes, I slide the tray onto my bedside table and snuggle up against his chest as he wraps his arm around me.

"What did I do to deserve such a gorgeous surprise?" I ask as he runs his fingers up and down my arm making Goosebumps raise up.

"I just love spoiling you," smirking down at me he leans and softly kisses my bottom lip before biting it making a gasp escape me as butterflies explode in my stomach once more. Seeing his mischievous grin, I feel my cheeks blurn slightly but return his grin. Straddling the tops of his thighs I wrap my arms around his shoulders, playing with the hair on the back of his neck I try not getting distracted by his warm hands resting on my waist.

"Thank you for my lovely surprise," I kiss his bottom lip as his hands tighten and pulled me closer until my chest was against his. "I would love to make it up to you" I murmur against his skin as his lips descend down my jaw to the soft spot on my neck.

"And how would you choose to do that my Clara?" He asks nipping my skin then soothing it with his tongue.

"By letting you be the one to teach me self-defence." He pulls back slightly and when he sees my grin he leans his head back and groans. Laughing I lean forward and softly kiss up his neck leaving little bite marks of my own.

"You're going to be the death of me woman!" He whines. Kissing up his jaw to his ear I softly scratch my nails against the nape of his neck and nip his ear.

"Well if you are a good teacher perhaps you will be rewarded" I tease, feeling those fingers start to leave bruises on my hips I hide my victory smirk. He was very good at teasing me but I'm learning to get my own back slowly.

"Clara" he warns, giggling I stay still as his eyes flash mischievously at me.

"Edward!" I try to scold him back but the effort was lost by my smile.

"You are pushing my self-restraint." Biting my lip, I try to look scolded. His groan made me believe it wasn't taken the way I intended it.

"Okay I have a question," I trail a finger down his chest as he closes his eyes and leans against my headboard looking both frustrated and amused. "Why is it so important for you to teach me self-defence?" Those eyes open back up as his one hand raises up and brushes a bit of my hair out of my face and holds it there on my cheek.

"Because I don't trust anyone else with your safety." Raising my eyebrows, I nod slightly, who am I to question a Rogue.

"So you'll teach me, but no hard hits?" I ask, his seriousness was astounding.

"I would never – Ever! – hit you Clara!" His thumb rubbed against my cheek, the one that Jason had hit those few weeks back. Had it really only been a few weeks since then? I hadn't even seen him since that fight. Worried I flick my eyes up and see Edwards eyes focused on my face. "What's worrying you?"

"I've just realised I haven't seen Jason in so long, I don't even know where he is?!" Panic starts to rise up in my chest and my breathing starts too shallow. What happens if he is in prison and I've been swanning around not giving a damn about him? Or worse, what if he is actually lying down dead in a gutter somewhere all this time and no one has found him? Or even worse, what if another Rogue has got hold of him and have cond-

"Clara! He is still working for me and I believe he is living with Robert, one of my other men. Please calm down SongBird!" He wraps me up in his arms, gently soothing me rubbing one hand up and down my back whispering that everything was alright. Breathing in deeply I try and calm my racing heart. Burying my head in the crook of his neck I snake my arms around his chest and back and squeeze slightly murmuring 'sorry'.

"You don't have to be sorry darling, just don't worry about him. I'm keeping an eye on him don't you worry." He definitely didn't sound happy, peeking up at his face he looks down and kisses my forehead.

"You don't like him that much, do you?" I question as he picks me up and sits my legs across his lap so I'm seated more comfortable.

"I am not his biggest fan. Especially after seeing how he treated you," his eyes glanced down at my cheek again, "but I cannot hate him. He is the one that brought me to you." His little confession made his cheeks redden once again. Beaming up at him I cuddle closer.

"Actually I believe it was me answering a riddle in a supermarket that was what brought us together, although Jason had eaten all my ice cream so it could be him actually." I ramble on until I feel Edwards chest rumble, looking up he was chuckling silently to himself. Sheepishly I grin up at him.

Leaning down his lips claimed mine in possibly one of the sweetest kisses he had ever given me, my knees actually felt weak, clutching on to his neck for dear life I allow him to pull me into a deeper kiss as his hands started to roam across my back, to my hips and then very slowly slide under my shirt, reaching up until they are under my breasts almost tickling them.

Breaking away from the kiss we both gasp for breath, blushing furiously from his intense gaze I kiss the tip of his nose. "I think if you are going to train me we need to get up Edward." His gaze doesn't leave my lips as a self-satisfied smirk starts (look at that alliteration) to grow on his own.

"Okay SongBird, if you think you can handle it." He challenges, smirking back at him I lean forward letting my hands rub down his chest.

"I think I could handle anything you gave me Sweetie" I reply. His eyes darken, leaning towards me I quickly jump off his lap and go in search for my gym clothes sending him a flirtatious smirk over my shoulder.

"I'll get changed and meet you in the living room Eddie" I state before shutting the bathroom door. Giddily I change into my Jade Green fancy bra and matching underwear before putting on my tight yoga pants and stretchy black t-shirt. Slipping back out into my bedroom I see Edward is nowhere to be found but my bed is all made and the breakfast tray is no longer on my bedside table. It's always nice when a guy cleans up.

Walking over to my door I take a deep reassuring breath before waltzing into the living room, Edward flashes me a sexy leer as he stands there in his green shirt and black trousers. Smiling back I move forward as he stands in the middle of the now cleared living room, his eyes roaming down my body, restraining my hands from pulling down my top to cover more of my body Edward magically somehow makes me feel like a Queen.

"You are definitely going to be the death of me Clara! Do you wear this to the gym?" Swaying my hips with the last few steps until I reach him I cheekily wink.

"Yes." His eyebrows shoot up as his mouth opens to say something before I interrupt: "Or I would, if I actually went to the gym." I snigger as he glares playfully down at me.

"Naughty." He taps my nose with his finger before leaning forward and catching my lips in a scorcher of a kiss. Pulling away he smirks slightly as he leans back.

"Self-defence 101, lesson number one: prevention is better than attacking." Confused I tilt my head. "Don't go down dark alleys by yourself, no mouthing off at others, don't walk by yourself in the dark and always be aware of your surroundings!" Nodding along, I can't help but think I do most of those things every day, especially walking to and fro from work.

"Lesson Number Two!" is it me or is it sounding a lot like Mulan's song in the second film? "Always keep a can of mace in your bag or on you," I've got that too, "three if you are going to punch then punch right."

"And what is the right way to punch Edward?" I arch my eyebrows as he holds his fists up and clenches them, I'm pretty sure I do it that way. Holding up my own fists I clench them both into fists.

"Good but try to keep your thumb out of fist, have it on the outside not inside otherwise that is a sure way to break your thumb." Listening to his instructions I place my thumbs on the outside of my fists, seeing his nod I place my hands back down by my side.

"Now show me a defensive pose with your fists up." Feeling silly I stand with my feet apart a little bit and my fists up by my face. He walks behind me and I feel his fingertips brush up against my t-shirt, up across my waist and shoulders to my fists, trying to breath normally through the butterflies battling in my stomach. "You need to relax your arms slightly; you don't want to be too tense when hitting as you will hurt yourself." His lips whisper into my ear brushing my lobe. Nodding and breathing out again I try to relax my arms like he said as his knee pushes against one of mine, pushing it out so my feet were further apart.

"Much better, when you punch you want to twist your arm slightly as it'll help with the power." I punched just as he said and he chuckled. "Well aren't you a natural." He moved around me so instead he was in front of me with his hands out, palms facing me. "Now punch my hand." Gulping, I tentatively punch his palm softly. Rolling his eyes he flicks me on the forehead.

"What the fuck Edward?" I growl out holding onto my forehead in pain, son of a bitch that hurt!

"If you're angry you punch harder, fact." Glaring at him I punched his palm again with a little more vigour than last time. "I know for sure you can do better than that." Rolling my eyes, I put my full force into the next punch. Hearing the slap of my fist hitting his palm I winced, not only did it hurt me but I'm pretty sure that must have him. Seeing the grin on his face, I'm not so sure.

"Now if you hit a guy that hard and in the face I'm pretty sure you'll be able to run away, one more try though SongBird." Confused on how he wasn't in pain I punched into his palm again, but before I could bring my fist back his fingers clung onto my hand and yanked me forward into his chest. Looking up at his mischievous grin I giggled.

"What now Sir?" I teased as his emerald eyes started turning dark.

"Now it's time you thank your Teacher, and I've got a few ideas." His feral grin made the butterflies go mental, my lips going dry I lick my bottom lip.

"And what are those?" His fingers gripped my waist.

"Let me show you." He threw me over his shoulder and stalked towards the couch me giggling in his wake.

Next chapter I'll let you know what those ideas of Edwards are ;)
