Chapter 5
When they finished training for the day, Junpei was proud of what he was able to do. Suiryu showed off to the brothers his accomplishment, granted, it took twenty minutes for him to turn his hand back. Yet the moment he did, the brothers appeared amazed. "Little brother… You're SO STRONG!" cheered Sho.
They were quick to pull him into their arms and embrace him for his victory. Suiryu however was quick to stop the little celebration. "Hey, too early to compliment him, that was merely his hand, nothing major!" he stated.
Strange, he sounded so impressed earlier.
Yet Suiryu explained it was nothing more than a mere taste of victory. "I have a long way to go… but at least I took the first step in getting there." Junpei said.
"We HAVE to celebrate tonight, this is a great accomplishment." Said Eso.
"Pizza?" Suiryu asked aloud.
"What's pizza?" the brothers asked.
"We're doing pizza!" Suiryu announced and left that moment.
Junpei snickered as the brothers went back into the dorms. They spoke of their own accomplishments today and how their abilities are starting to come naturally to them. Yet, he saw Choso stare off for a moment. "Excuse me," he said and left.
"Where is he going?" Junpei questioned.
"Probably to check on little brother Yuuji," said Eso. He paused and sighed aloud. "I never knew I was fighting my own flesh and blood back then…"
Junpei paused. "I… don't quite understand the full story of you and Yuuji just yet,"
"There will be time for that, at the moment. Let's focus on getting you stronger, okay? Our past is not important right now." Eso stated.
Suiryu returned a short time later, yet the amount of pizza he bought was rather unsettling. There were at least thirty boxes! "Seriously?" Junpei asked aloud.
"I skipped lunch," he snapped back and began to lay out the pies, the brothers weren't too sure of this odd food. Yet as soon as the boxes open, curiosity got the better of them.
"This… is food?" asked Sanso.
'Looks like it, but what's on it?' came the etched words on Tanso's chest.
Suiryu was already digging in, taking three extra large pizzas for himself.
Junpei smirked as he looked over the flavors. "They are all different flavors, if anything take a piece for yourself and a small bite, if you like the flavor get the slice, if not try something else… Here…" He went to the kitchen and to a knife, with care he cut into the slices and made them into little flavor samples. Those were passed around to the brothers as they each took a taste. Some they liked, others not so much. But soon, the found which one they prefer and helped themselves.
Choso returned a short time later and saw the meal was already being served. "I remember Yuuji talking about this before… I never had it myself…"
"Have some brother, it's delicious!" called Eso.
They were all fascinated and filled with the odd meal. Eso appeared to be thinking over the notion of making it himself. "I wonder how difficult this is to prepare…"
Suiryu stared at him oddly. "Were you always a cook?" he asked.
His head shook no. "It's strange, I never considered the notion of making meals until now… odd…" he said offhandedly, yet despite the sudden interest to cook, Eso was curious to how pizza was made and wanted to replicate it.
"You all did really well today. I saw some great progress and can see we have some great allies to depend on…" Suiryu said between mouthfuls.
The brothers smiled and nodded. Choso however was a little worried. "Why hasn't Yuuji woken up yet?" he asked. "I have seen him when he was stabbed in the heart and revived shortly after, he recovered faster than this…"
"Wait, what?!" Junpei demanded.
Suiryu however waved off the concern. "He will be fine, it took the stuffing out of him to bring back nine of you, so let him rest. Just remember, you took a LOT of curse energy from him. To strengthen yourself for this rebirth of course." He explained, but then turned to Junpei. "For the stabbed in the heart thing, a sorcerer with great power healed him, that guy was just that good at doing so," He insisted. "Besides, he could use the sleep. He tends to go overboard when training and doesn't properly rest up afterwards."
The meal was finished, Suiryu told the brothers to take it easy for the rest of the night and call it a day. "I'll be back tomorrow, be ready!" he ordered and left once more.
"I wonder why he doesn't stay…" Sanso said aloud.
With full stomachs, the brothers retreated to their rooms. Junpei opted to explore a little bit.
From what he understood, this was where the school Yuuji goes to now, use to be many years ago. Suiryu found it by coincidence and fixed the place up just in case. There were other building around the area, but they were mainly empty or full of leftover things that were left behind in the move. One such place was nothing more than boxes upon boxes of things. With time on his hands he began to sift through.
"Let's seem, old uniforms… sealing tags… papers… maps…" there was a lot of junk, but then paused at one box labeled 'entertainment'. Curious he opened it up but froze. "No… WAY!" inside was an old DVD player along with DVDs, a lot of classics but some movies he was familiar with before he died. "I can watch movies again!" Checking out some more boxes, he found an old TV that still worked, the DVD player was compatible with it. He began to make plans on sneaking it into his room, but then remembered the brothers.
They had no idea what pizza was, perhaps the TV will help them understand life a little better and make them more familiar and even human. 'Yosh, it's decided!' Junpei thought. He carried everything back to the dorm living space, he set up the TV and even found a cable box, from there, he tested it out and found it worked just fine.
"Little brother, what is that?" asked Sho.
Junpei smiled. "A television!" he said proudly.
"Tel… vision?" Sho asked in a confused manner.
"Or call it a TV. You can watch shows on here," he explained.
The confusion didn't leave his face. Perhaps it was best to explain it tomorrow. "Let's call it a night for now, little one. You had a long day and we have to continue training tomorrow,"
He sighed and nodded. "True, okay, another time then." He turned it off for the moment and retreated to his room. Perhaps he could be of use to the brothers after all. He knows the modern world better than they do.
