This is a giftfic for yukaishepard because I felt she deserved it. It's about Deidara, and since we don't know much about him/her/it, I had to improvise. Yukaishepard talked about Deidara as if he were a man, so I shall stick with that, and he is a man in this. Sorry this is short :sweatdrop: I tried.

The Calm Before the Storm.

Deidara fell onto his back, his Akatsuki cloak spread out beneath him as he gazed up at the clouds. He wanted to relax as much as possible for the time being, because in an hour, he and Sasori were going to go after the Kazekage. He was a Jinchuuriki, and Deidara was going to claim him as his catch.

Of course, because Sasori once belonged to that village, the bastard was coming along. He was going to try and steal Deidara's glory.

"I won't let him, yeah." Deidara spoke aloud as he continued to stare up at the sky. "The one-tail is mine."

"Talking to yourself?" Deidara leaned his head back to look at the large, bulky body that was Sasori.

"Just psyching myself up, yeah." Deidara replied before looking at the clouds again.

"He's going to be hard to capture." Sasori stated, still standing behind him.

"He's the Kazekage. If he were easy, I'd be disappointed, yeah." Deidara reached into his pouch and extracted some clay, staring at it.

"Are you sure that's enough?" Sasori demanded.

"It's just one Jinchuuriki. It'll be fine, yeah." Deidara put it back in his pouch before staring at the teeth in his hand, watching them as they opened and closed, as if asking for something to chew.

Soon, yeah, he thought. You'll be able to chew something soon.

He dropped his hand to continue staring at the clouds, watching them as they floated by above him.

"What are you doing, shouldn't you be getting ready?" Sasori demanded.

"I am ready." Deidara replied.

"What are you doing, then?"

"Staring at the clouds, yeah." Sasori looked up as he heard this before looking back down at Deidara.

"Why?"

"They look like animals, yeah." He replied, pushing his hitai-ate off his forehead to run the back of his hand across it. "Gives me ideas."

"Do you know how you're going to catch the Kazekage?"

"Yeah."

"Then we should go." Sasori insisted as he turned his back on Deidara.

"In a minute." The long-haired shinobi insisted. "I want to watch the clouds a bit more, yeah."

"Fine. I'll be back in ten minutes."

Deidara listened to Sasori leave, his eyes on the clouds overhead. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply as he savoured the serenity around him.

The calm before the storm.
