The PLAYER

The one in control of the "Game" for all interacts and choices, be it FIGHTor MERCY, Pacifistic or Genocidal.

SAVE, LOAD and RESETare the main power of the Player, mostly equated to the DETERMINATIONthey hold.

This can be… changed… depending on WHO exactly falls down.

Usually, a character named Frisk falls into the Underground and is then put in the control of the PLAYER at that time, or rarely, in control of themselves.

Sometimes, however, a… problem, can occur. When a Human somehow finds themselves in the place of Frisk. COMPLETELY.

A child makes their way towards a whole in a mountain, peeking in before taking a step back and jumping into it. During the fall however, they stop in place and a glitching effect spreads over them. As the effect completely consumes the child, it grows in size to almost double the size of said child.

As the effect fades away, a new person is left in its wake, a teen, seemingly asleep. Then the fall continues, startling the new teen awake.

"Huh… whe- HOLY FUUUUUUU-" The teen yells out in a male voice as he takes in his new surroundings… while falling.

"OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT! Wait! I'm supposed to go flat to spread out the impa-" Was all he managed to yell out before he hit the ground, quite hard in fact.

The teen was not dead however, yet. Just knocked unconscious from the fall. It wasn't that long of one either. Well, to his body in this world anyways, but that's for the teen to discover on their own.

Don't die too soon now, ok?

"Oooowwwwwww" I groaned out as I sat up rumbling my head. "Where the hell-?"

Spotting the flowers around me, I continued to wonder about where I am, just not aloud. 'Yellow Flowers? Daisies? No, they look just like… Buttercups? I haven't seen those in real life before, only in… Undertale… Nah, there's no waaaa' I stopped as I finally looked around some more. "No fucking way. Nu-uh, no way, na-da. That is not possible at all."

"What's not possible?"

"WHAT THE FU-" I screamed out as I turned to find a girl looking at me from across the room. I calmed down immediately when I caught her in my eye though, deftly calm actually. The girl looked young, maybe sixteen-ish? But, the main part of my realization, she was wearing a green sweater with a yellow stripe.

"You… gonna keep staring at me creepily?"

Shit, uh, "Sorry, just wasn't expecting anyone to be down here…"

"Well you're half right, take a closer look weirdo" She said as she got up and walked towards me.

"Wait… I can see through you. Slightly I mean…"

"Yeeep, I'm dead" She said with a casual tone.

Huh, So I'm pretty much replacing Frisk… 'FUCK I REALLY AM IN UNDERTALE. Wait, She's expecting a response, shit.'

"Ooook then, not gonna question why you're dead nor why I can see you. Do ya know a way out of here though?" I asked.

"... Really? I tell you I'm dead, and you just straight up ignore it? Ugh, whatever, gonna warn you though, you got a long walk ahead of you if you want out of here." She spoke, frustrating at my lack of response.

"Yea, ok. Thanks for the info kid, I'ma gonna head through that door now." I pointed away at the door, looking at her with the best poker face I could muster. "Wish I could help ya, but I gotta help myself first." I turned and headed for the door.

"W-wait, please…" I turned back as I heard her speak up again. "Can I, come with you?"

I mean, I guess it wouldn't be much trouble. This version of Chara seems to be chill anyways. "Sure kid, but I'm gonna need to know your name, can't just call you 'Kid' all the time" I said, waving her to follow as I continued my walk.

"Oh My name is Chara, I'm seventeen years old! What about you?"

'I never really liked my name, always reminded me that I wasn't really planned for or wanted… What to use as my new name though? Hmmm, I guess from my favorite show? Nah, calling myself Goku or Naruto would be pretty cringe… Ah! I got it'

I stopped by the door, knowing I'd encounter Flowy if I went through. I wanted to enjoy this conversation first.

"You can call me Tech, I'm nineteen by the way."

"Jeez, you're so old… most of the people who fell down here were younger, twelve to thirteen"

"Others? Other people have fallen down here… You fell down here too didn't you? And I'll have you know that you're not that far below me in age brat. You are short though."

"HEY, I am not short! I'm five foot six and a half, you're just tall!... and, well, yes and no. So far, including myself and you, eight Humans have fallen. I was the first, then came the six after me, and now you." She said as she looked away. "Most of us fell, but two of them, specifically the third and fifth, jumped in an attempted suicide."

"... I… I see. What happened to the other six."

"They… they were killed, because my dad decided to throw a fit after my death."

Her and Asrial, she means… "I'm guessing your death hit him hard, and that Humans had something to do with it." She opened her mouth to say something "No, it's fine, You don't have to tell me how it happened. Though I am going to get attacked aren't I?"

She looked down, "Most likely."

"Hey," I tilted her head up by her chin, "Don't worry, I got this… I'll just have to show them not all Humans are bad… By the way, how am I touching you?"

We both stopped, "I… don't know…" Chara responded.

"... Fair enough, let's continue on" I said, turning back to the door again and walking through

I came stopped at the pad of flowers in the room as Flowey popped his way out of the ground in front of me.

"Howdy! I'm Flowey, Flowey the Flower!" Flowy started.

"Be careful, he's not as nice as he's acting." Chara informed me

I already knew that though. "I'ma stop you right there, 'Flowey', I'm gonna ask you exactly one time to get out of my way. Then, we do it the hard way" I said, I was bluffing of course… kinda. I don't want to hurt him, but I will defend myself against him cause I know he can take the hits well enough.

"Wow, you really don't want to talk to me?" He asked sadly, faking obviously.

"Dude, I put on a mask more often than I'd like to admit, and I can see right through yours."

"Ooooh, you're like me then?" He said as his face changed to his menacing grin.

"I don't know, nor do I care. I would urge you to move… actually, too late."

"What do yo-?" That was all he got out before he was blasted away by a fireball.

Walking into view was, of course, Torial. Goat Mom herself. "What a despicable creature, I hope you're alright darling," Darling? "I must commend you on trying to talk your way around that creature, unfortunately he didn't seem to want to give up on attacking you."

"Why thank you miss…?"

"Oh, my goodness, my name is Torial. I keep watch over these Ruins in case more children fall here… Of course, you seem a fair bit older than the ones before you…"

"Ah, I see, Thank you for helping me out Torial. I really didn't want to be forced into FIGHTing him." Did… did I just hear capital letters? "If you wouldn't mind, could you lead me out of these 'Ruins', I would try to find my own way, but I don't think I would be able to find an exit.

"Oh, I… I don't think you should exit the Ruins darling, the Monsters outside this place are much more willing to FIGHT you, except for that flower creature, most here would leave you alone or are easily convinced to be friends instead."

"I'm sure they are with you around here, but I do think I would be fine… I must point out that if others that fell were as young as I think they were, they would be significantly weaker than I am. I don't want to FIGHT, don't get me wrong, but if the monster can be convinced to stop ATTACKing, then I stand a much better chance than a child would."

"Really? I thought they were pretty strong themselves… from what I heard, most of them made it all the may to the King before they were…" She sniffled a bit.

'Fuuuu, nooo, crying is my weakness' "Hey hey, it's alright" I said, coming in to hug her, "I'm sorry you had to deal with that, I'll stay with you and recover for a bit if you want me too ok?"

"Yes, that would *Sniff* be fine" Letting go of her, she starts to walk away, "Come along darling, my house is this way"

"Coming" I said as I started walking with her.

"Don't get any funny ideas mister, that's my mom." Chara said beside me with a pout.

I just smiled at her and shook my head. Can't really talk to her in front of others without sounding crazy.

"Better not," she said, crossing her arms.

Continuing our walk in a calm silence, as Toriel led me to her home, I contemplated how I should do this.

'I could just tell Sans what's up, he might not completely understand, but it's something. Or I could just do the pacifist route and just kinda live my new life. Maybe this world would be nicer than my old gloomy one. I mean, the game painted the Humans of this world pretty well, of course there's also the possibility of it being even worse. Whatever, I'll think of what to do later.' I thought as we walked through the spike maze… 'huh, didn't even feel her grab my hand for this... '

"Uh, thanks for leading me there, I kinda zoned out for a bit." I said as we reached the end of the spike maze.

"Of course darling, I didn't want you to accidentally step on a spike tile." Toriel responded as she kept walking… with my hand in her still.

… 'Just ignore it and let it happen.' I thought, 'Though she must have done the other traps herself while I was zoned out… guess since she isn't expecting me to stay she doesn't feel the need to teach me the way around them.'

"Here we are," Toriel said, opening her front door… really need to stop zoning out like that.

"Nice home you have here Toriel," I spoke up as I walked in, "Do you really not mind if I stay the night to rest up?"

"Of course not darling, rather I encourage it. How about you go get some rest while I make something to eat?" She said, walking into the kitchen.

'Huh, Wonder if she's gonna make butterscotch pie, probably.' I decided to take a look around, as I only really saw it from the games perspective before, or how it looked in various comics. Might find a clue about what AU I'm in, if I'm not in the Classic timeline.

Finding the mirror, I have a look at myself. Yep, still myself. Five foot, eleven inches. Wearing a pair of black jeans and my blue Turtle Gi T-shirt, and my Underfell AU inspired jacket, always loved the way that sans' jacket looked… So I stole it. Only difference being the tufts of fur and zippers are blue instead of gold. My hair is it's usual dark brown, disheveled curliness too. Though, all of my blemishes are gone… Blackheads that were on my nose, the little bit of scruffy hair on my face after a day or two of not shaving, hell, I can see perfectly without my glasses. I still have bags under my eyes that look slightly stressed… the 'tired' look, so it's not like a 'All bad looks are gone' kinda thing.

*It's you, Tech

… What the fuck? Do the game's systems still function!? This changes some things… How do battles work? Do I have other options or just the game ones? What is my soul? I also just realized that I must have zoned out for way longer than I thought, I didn't even see Napstablook or encounter any FIGHTs.

No, getting side tracked. If the game functions work, then I must have a SOUL, but I can't, or won't see it until I get into a FIGHT. There may be a way to check it but I have no idea how I would do that. Wait.. I saw a golden glow off to the side when I was entering a house… are there actual SAVE points in this world? And I walked right past a shit ton of them?

Damn, whatever. I'll keep a lookout for them from now on. May be useful to keep a SAVE incase of the worst outcome. God I can't get over being able to hear capital letters in speech and even in my thinking.

"You uh, you gonna keep staring at yourself man?" Chara said, tapping my side.

I looked to her, then to the kitchen, before entering the room to the left. Chara followed behind.

"Sorry, didn't want Toriel to hear me talking to you and think I'm crazy. Anyways, I was just spacing out for a bit. Though I do have a question."

"Alright, shoot."

"How do I CHECK my SOUL?"

"Oh, just put a hand to your chest, push your magic to it and pool out the main source. That allows you to check it, but be warned, this also makes you vulnerable."

"Wow, you're pretty knowledgeable on this Chara." Humans have Magic here, alright, that's one variation.

"Eh, When you live in the underground for a bit, you learn to control your magic better. Why don't you try it?"

Placing a hand to my chest I try to look inwards… surprisingly, I feel a… power? No… a well of energy in my center. Pushing it to my chest I pull my hand a way, and feel that energy float above my hand.

I hear a startled gasp from Chara, "What the-"

Opening my eyes, I see my SOUL, It was a very dark red, almost black really, the real problem was the edges, they were black, I'm not talking outline black, I'm talking fucking Vantablack. It was a second later I realized the real reason Chara gasped.. As my SOUL changed The dark red bled into VantaBlack completely, before fading into red, crimson, before fading back, repeatedly.

"Chara? … What does this mean?"

"It's DETERMINATION, but it's mixed with HATE… Normally HATE is like a... booster for the souls original TRAIT, and is always black, blocking people from seeing what the original TRAIT was, as that can be used against it. But your SOUL, it's as if HATE is a TRAIT of its own, fused together with your DETERMINATION. Plus, HATE is black, but you're SOUL, it's like a void compared to HATEs blackness in any other example." Chara explained slowly.

"... It makes sense, there's no need to worry. I'm in control of my own actions. How do I CHECK my status?"

"It should come up if you focus…" Chara said, still staring at my SOUL… for some reason this feels perverted to me… as if others are not supposed to see my SOUL in this manner.

Focusing on my Soul, a screen finally appears.

"Tech"

LV ?

HP ?/?

ATK: ? (?) EXP: ?
DF ? (?) NEXT: ?

What? "What the hell?"

"What is it?" Chara asked

"My Stats, are all unknown… as if they can't be measured…"

"... Maybe it's something to do with the nature of your SOUL? I wouldn't worry about it for now. If anything this will make Monster's think twice before engaging you in a FIGHT." Chara said thoughtfully.

"Yeah, Hopefully. I'ma get some sleep," I said as I let my SOUL fade back into myself. Getting up and rummaging through the wooden wardrobe .

"What are you doing?" Chara asked.

"grabbing a blanket and sleeping on the floor? There's only one bed, and I can tell this is your room." I respond as I find an old blanket in it.

"Nope."

I stop, "Nope what?"

"You're sleeping on the bed."

"I'm not taking the only bed here Chara." I deadpanned at her.

"Then we can share it!" She said as she hopped onto the bed.

"Chara... "

"Come on, I'm not making you sleep on the floor, and I know you won't let me either!"

'She's got me there, I won't let her sleep on the floor, and she won't shut up if I do.' … "Fine, but we're facing away from each other, aight?"

"Gotcha"

'Why do I feel like I'm gonna regret this?'
