Track 31 - everything i wanted

Leinani and Marshadow quickly returned to Kaiko where they were able to calm him down. When they met, he was in tears. He hadn't yet called their mom, but he did tell Nurse Joy. They were going to prepare a group of trainers to go and help Leinani, but she made it back fast enough to where it wasn't necessary.

The two rented a room in the center where they could relax. Leinani had enough training for a while, and she fell into the bed as soon as they entered the room, her legs simply giving out on her. Marshadow was now safe, so it left Leinani's shadow before finding a place to sit down and reflect.

Kaiko looked at his sister, sprawled facedown on the bed. "You okay?"

Leinani responded, but her voice was muffled by the pillow.

"What do you think is going on with the Ultra Beasts? That's two that we've seen now," Kaiko said.

"You read my friggin' mind," Leinani said while turning over. "There's something up, and I want to know what. I'm now one hundred percent convinced that we have some sort of target on our back."

"Should we call the police?" Kaiko asked. "We should at least tell mom, right?"

Leinani wanted to sit up, but she didn't have the power in her body to do so. She wouldn't tell Kaiko, but she had been shaking nonstop since she saw the beast.

"I don't want to talk to the police," she exclaimed.

"Why not?"

"I'm a rapper. We won't get along," she said. "You feel me?"

Kaiko's shoulders slumped. "I guess?"

"Let's get some sleep. Tomorrow is a new day. Today was only proof that I need to get stronger."

Kaiko was still.

"What?" she asked.

"Nothing. I was just really scared that you weren't going to make it. I was flustered. I didn't know what to do," Kaiko explained.

Leinani groaned and then managed to lift herself out of bed. She stuck her arms out and then grabbed Kaiko by the head, pulling him in for a hug. She held him tighter than she ever had before, and he slowly started to sob.

"I was so scared, Leilei."

Leinani kept her grip on Kaiko, refusing to let go. She stepped back, dragging him with her. The two fell onto the bed, and Leinani held her brother while tears formed in her eyes and streaked down her cheeks, falling onto the pillow.

"Me too."

The next day, the two took their time getting ready. But once they were showered and had eaten lunch, they were off once more for the Poni Wilds. They made sure to avoid the same area that they had been attacked at the day prior, but Leinani was curious to see if anything else had happened. However, she was keener to keep Kaiko out of harm's way.

"So, what kind of training do you want to do today?" Kaiko asked. His Togedemaru bounced up and down at his side, and he held Wishiwashi's fishbowl in his arms.

Leinani thought over it momentarily. "You know what? I think it's about time that we add another member to our group. I think it'd be fun to freshen it up a bit. What do you think, DJ?"

Rowlet shifted her eyes and looked around the fields. She trilled happily. She was okay with adding a new Pokémon to the team so long as it wasn't another Flying-type.

"Alright!" Leinani exclaimed. "So, who is it gonna be?"

Kaiko put his hand to his chin. "There are a lot of strong Pokémon around here! You can catch something like Granbull or Furfrou!"

Leinani imagined what it'd be like to catch a canine Pokémon. The Lycanroc that she saw only twenty-four hours earlier seemed cool. She wished that she could have added it to her team.

Kaiko looked into the sky and pointed, making Leinani's eyes go wide. She jolted and put her arms in front of Kaiko just in case another portal was ripping itself into existence. He looked at her in confusion.

"I was gonna suggest a Pelliper," he muttered.

Leinani looked up, finding many Pelliper fluttering about in the air above them.

Rowlet glared at Kaiko.

Kaiko recoiled. "Sorry, DJ! I forgot!"

"Row!" the Flying-type snapped.

Then suddenly, the two heard a loud roar and crash. They paused and looked around, finding flames exploding from the grass in the distance. They slowly made their way through the grass and peeked their heads out, finding a large red and yellow Pokémon with a spiky shell on its back. It blasted flames from its mouth and into the air for seemingly no reason at all.

"Turtonator, the Blast Turtle Pokémon. Its exploding shell poses a real danger but is sensitive to moisture. On rainy days, Turtonator takes silent refuge in caves," Leinani's Pokédex chimed, catching the attention of Turtonator.

Leinani slowly looked at Kaiko, who was holding the Pokédex. "You couldn't wait?"

"I'm sorry," Kaiko muttered.

"Turtonator!" the Pokémon cried out angrily.

It blasted flames from its mouth and then started to flail its arms out wildly.

"Can't use Mix," Leinani said while looking at Wishiwashi. "And those flames could melt DJ, Shure, or Boombox. So, it's up to you, Vinyl!" She threw her Great Ball forward, and the black sand Sandygast materialized in front of Turtonator.

"Wait, you're gonna catch it?!" Kaiko asked. He had already prepared to run away.

"Of course I'm gonna catch it! Are you kidding me? It's a Dragon-type Pokémon!"

"Turto?" the Dragon-type wondered while looking at the nervous Sandygast. But it didn't take long for him to suddenly become enraged. He unleashed flames from his snout at Sandygast.

"Dodge it!" Leinani commanded.

Sandygast quickly moved to the side and avoided the flames. She looked at Turtonator, who was furious with his failed attack. He stamped his feet and waved his arms around angrily.

"Bulldoze!" Leinani shouted.

Sandygast attached herself to the ground and started to shake. The area rumbled, and the ground below Turtonator began to crumble, making it hard for him to move. This only made him angrier.

"Shadow Ball!"

"Gast!" the Pokémon shouted while switching up her attack. She formed a ball of ghostly energy in front of her wide mouth and then launched it directly for Turtonator.

But the Fire-type wasn't going to let it happen. He roared, and an orb of arcane energy swirled in front of him. He shot it back at Sandygast. The two attacks collided, but Turtonator's orb was much stronger. It exploded and washed out the ghostly energy before continuing down to Sandygast. The Ghost-type was blasted and dragged against the ground slightly. She quickly recovered though and shook her head, trying to regain her footing.

Turtonator roared and then started to run down the field. He jumped into the air and sprawled out his body.

"That's Body Slam!" Kaiko yelled. "Run!"

But Leinani gave no command and let the Dragon-type land directly on top of Sandygast. Turtonator laughed to himself, proud of what he had done, and then he slowly stood back up. He looked down at Turtonator, and his eyes widened.

"Body Slam can't hurt Sandygast," Leinani said. "Calm down, Kai."

"Sorry. I freaked out for a second."

"Use Shadow Ball!"

Sandygast quickly whipped up her attack and then launched it, hitting Turtonator directly in the bottom of the chin. The large Pokémon fell, landing on his back.

Leinani stood up straight and pulled a Poké Ball from her belt. She threw it forward, and Turtonator was absorbed into the ball.

"Yes!" she exclaimed, but her smile quickly faded as Turtonator quickly exploded from the ball and emerged, now much closer to Leinani and Kaiko.

Turtonator roared and blasted fire at Sandygast. When the flames stopped, the Ghost-type was still before slowly slumping to the ground, flat a pancake.

"You sure you don't want to use Mr. Mix?" Kaiko asked.

"How am I supposed to?!" Leinani yelled. "DJ, get in there, and use Shadow Claw!"

Rowlet flew from her head and slashed at Turtonator. The attack was stronger than the Fire-type had anticipated, and he was knocked to the side. He swiped to try to get in a hit, but Rowlet was naturally much faster.

"Steel Wing!" Leinani yelled.

Turtonator looked up and then faced away from Rowlet. He hid under his shell, and the spikes on his back started to glow. Rowlet wasn't phased by the movement though. She quickly struck with her wings, hitting Turtonator on the back of the head. Then, an explosion followed as Turtonator's spikes were set off like landmines. Rowlet was blown back, landing in front of Leinani's feet, her body limp.

"No way," Leinani muttered. "What in the world happened?" She looked up into the smoke, and she felt the shaking of Turtonator's powerful footsteps.

"I think that was Shell Trap!" Kaiko exclaimed.

Turtonator's head came from the smoke, and he glared down at the siblings. He huffed, and a little bit of smoke came from his snout.

"We're dead," Leinani muttered.

"Wishi!" the Water-type called. He leaped from his bowl and started to shine. Energy swirled around his body as he expanded.

"We're gonna need a bigger bowl," Kaiko commented.

Leinani grabbed Rowlet and Kaiko before pulling them back and out of the way. Wishiwashi continued to take his massive form until he blocked out the sun. Turtonator looked on in awe, unable to find the will to move out of the way.

Leinani grinned. "We got one strike! Mix, use Aqua Tail!"

Wishiwashi slowly turned his body around while he formed aquatic energy around the lower half of his body. He didn't have nearly as much momentum as he would have had he leaped from the ocean, so he slowly fell onto Turtonator, blasting a wave of water around the area.

Leinani held onto Kaiko while the two were forced away by the waves. She managed to stop herself on a large boulder. She looked up and noticed Wishiwashi flopping around in his large form. She quickly pulled her Dive Ball from her belt and withdrew him.

She dropped Kaiko on the ground and then trudged through the mud while grabbing another Poké Ball from her bag. Turtonator was now unconscious, and the chances of him escaping were slim.

"I know that it was Mixtape's attack that created the mud and ruined my shoes, but it's your fault for continuing to battle and not just get in the ball," Leinani yelled. "Go, Poké Ball!"

She threw the ball forward, and it hit Turtonator. He was absorbed into the ball, which hit the ground and began to slowly sink in the mud. Leinani ran forward and dove, grabbed the ball before it could go under. She held it up high while it continued to shake. If Turtonator broke out, he'd probably land on her and break all of her bones, but her shoes were already messed up by the mud, so what was the point of living?

Ding.

Leinani sighed with relief and then sat down, exhausted.

"That makes six!" she exclaimed happily. "We did it, Kai!"

"I'm happy for you!" Kaiko said. He pulled Togedemaru from the mud and smiled. "Looks like we've got to take a shower!"

"Look at the mess you've made," a voice called from atop one of the rocks. Leinani looked up, but she was blinded by the sun, only able to see the silhouette of the person. They stepped out of the light and jumped down from one boulder to the next. It was someone that Leinani was familiar with. She had dark brown curly hair and wore a purple, flower print dress.

"Kala," Leinani muttered.

"The island has been extra loud the last few days," Kala said while approaching Leinani. She stuck out her hand, helping Leinani get back to her feet. "I guess that means that you've arrived."

"I've been training really hard," Leinani exclaimed. "I just caught a Turtonator!"

"Congrats," Kala said. "I take it that you managed to defeat Tanium. You must be here for your last badge?"

Leinani nodded. She grinned and then held out her new Poké Ball. "I challenge you, Kala! I'm here to go all out and win my last badge!"

Kala smiled and then looked around the muddy field. "It looks to me like you have to get a little bit stronger. If you couldn't even beat a wild Turtonator without destroying the wilds, what makes you think that you'll stand any chance against my dragons?"

Leinani's shoulders slumped, and she lowered her Poké Ball. "I guess you have a point."

"Train for a little while longer, and then come challenge me. Any time is good, but just don't lie to yourself. I'll test you like no one else will," Kala said with a wink.

"What are you gonna name your Turtonator?!" Kaiko said while coming in between the two of them. "I have an idea! How about Disco?"

Leinani rolled her eyes. "Absolutely not. Disco is not a bad name, but not for something like Turtonator."

"Then R&B!" he exclaimed.

"How about Mosh?" Leinani wondered. "He's kind of a heavy metal Pokémon, don't you think? The way he thrashed about made me think of the moshpit videos I've seen on the internet."

Kaiko put his hand to his chin. "I think I like Disco."

"It's not your Pokémon to name, Kaiko!"

Kala laughed. "You two are cute."

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

A couple of things going on in this chapter! We finally get Leinani's sixth Pokémon in Mosh! However, I won't spoil anything, but Leinani will be making one more change to her team.

Also, not gonna lie, but I kind of got emotional when writing the beginning of this chapter. I think I miss my brother back in America. Leinani and Kaiko's relationship is really fun for me to write, but when I get to the emotional bits, I get teary-eyed.

Next chapter, Leinani is gonna get more serious with some of her training!

REVIEWS:

CrescentApple - "I wasn't expecting Marshadow and Leilani to team up, and I wasn't expecting them to have such a hard time against this Ultra beast. I had thought she was strong enough to do some good damage against this one." - She's strong, but she was also put up against something that she had nothing to fight with. It was like battling an unbreakable shield with cotton balls.

UKEagleClaw - You've left a few reviews recently, so I just wanted to thank you!
