A/N: Kakashi is capable of being so angsty, I love it.
He graduated from the academy and the age of five and achieved the rank of jounin before the age of thirteen.
"A genius," they whispered of the son of the White Fang.
He efficiently mastered the Sharingan that his dead teammate gave him, despite that he was not of the Uchiha bloodline.
"A genius," they would tell him, Sharingan no Kakashi.
He was one of the youngest ANBU captains ever, aside from Itachi of course, but that was years away.
"A genius," they gossiped of the masked ANBU captain.
But he did not think of himself as a genius.
He allowed his teammate and friend to die because of his insistence to follow rules.
"A failure," he whispered.
He thought he had dispelled the revengeful desires of his Sharingan carrying student, the last of his clan, only to have the student follow the path of evil in search for revenge, and forever branded as a traitor by the village.
"A failure," he said.
He could not keep his team together, the importance of teamwork only reaching two of his three students. He could not even keep his dead teammate's legacy alive.
"Most definitely a failure," he told himself.
Others see Hatake Kakashi as a genius.
Hatake Kakashi sees himself as a failure, failed in being a mentor, teammate and friend.
