Promotion Duel
(Author's Note: Glad people are enjoying the story so far. Still got that same complaint from the Guest of "Copying the canon" which hasn't happened. Even got one from certain Chazz fan being all pissy that I changed Chazz, I'm saying this and saying it only once, Position and money will make anyone think they are untouchable and believe that he or she can do whatever they want without consequences, UNTIL they lose everything and realize, they were not special. Also, to the same "Guest" that whole "Chazz doesn't just grope anyone" if I didn't do that, then he would have been a "copy" of the canon, again, money, family name, and power, will make anyone a jerk. TO THE STORY!)
A couple of weeks had past, since the Lake Duel. The students were currently in study hall due to Promotion Exams, to see who will be bumped up to the next dorm, or as some Ras fear, that all of the Obelisk think will not happen to them, a demotion. Prof. Banner was the teacher in charge of this day's Study Hall, looked at the students, petting his cat he sighed out enjoying the silent study, but he had more reason to be proud, doing some gradings earlier that month, he learn that three of his Slifers were closing in to be on Ra level of tests, all first years. He couldn't be prouder that he had a set of bright minds, looking at each one, who also had different studying expressions. Syrus, being a nervous wreck in his studying, visibly panicking as he quickly looks through his study book. Mana, slightly less nervous then Syrus, until she comes across a section, she either has little or no knowledge in, worrying she'll never get it right in time. And finally, the one he calls his own star pupil, Draco. Prof. Banner somehow gotten word of his duel with Chazz, and is showing no signs of worrying of the exams. However, the class doesn't see the large black armor dragon, standing behind Draco and looking around the class room and tilting its head in confusion before lean down to Draco.
"Druv dreh thare goraan gein lost niist klov ko daar dey?" The dragon spoke in old languish.
"I already told you, we are studying, Iilahnuv" Draco thought to the dragon, "That's why our heads are in the books."
"Fos los prust fah?"
"For exams later on in the week."
"Ful med lahzey?"
"No! Not like—by the gods. Why are you still here?!"
"Zu'u vis nunon daal wa faal Zii Lein ahst vulon."
Draco sighed out, making sure no one heard him, "Why do you speak in the Ancient Tongue?"
"Fend zokah dovah tinvaak ko atumei vun?"
It was then, Kinbok appeared bowing his head to Draco in respect, "I apologize, Young Lord." He said, "This is Iilahnuv's first time in the human world. She hasn't had time, nor the practice to adapt."
"Just, please get her somewhere else so I can study in peace, Kinbok." Draco plead the captain, since the argument and having to mentally translate the large dragon at the same time was draining.
"Yes, my Lord." He replied before looking at the large dragon, "Iilahnuv, daal wak grindol naal un Drogro weyt, ahrk saran zugut uth."
Iilahnuv, nodded before fading out of the class, Kinbok again bowed his head before following suit, "Finally."
Draco return to his studying, before his eyes glanced to Syrus, a small smile crossed his face.
Earlier that month, the day after the lake duel, Syrus and Draco woke up despite the late duel with time to get ready for their class, and nearly running into Mana again.
"Oh, hey you two." Mana said, "Surprised that you guys are up so early."
"And why would that be a surprised to you?" Syrus asked her.
"Well, Draco told me you were in a prank made for him, but accidently got caught in it." She replied.
Syrus looked at Draco, feeling betrayed, "You told her?!"
"Syrus there is more. "Draco told him, Syrus turned back to Mana as she held a card out.
"What's that for?" Syrus asked.
"For you." She replied, "Draco said this card may cheer you up."
Syrus, looked at the card before slowly reaching for it, taking it from Mana and then slowly flipped it over. Before he lightly gasped out and his face brighten up.
"Th-th-this is." He stammered, "Yes Syrus it's your own Dark Magician Girl." Draco finished for his buddy.
"I got two of them in a pack." Mana explained as Syrus looked at her, "I'm good with one."
Syrus was stunned for too long before he suddenly fell back, laying down on the walkway of the upper rooms.
"I think we broke him, Draco." Mana stated looking down at the blushing and slightly love-struck Syrus.
"I figured this would happen if he got Dark Magician Girl." Draco replied.
Draco's little trip to the past was interrupted as the bell chimed off ending the day, "Alright everyone, please return your study books to my desk before leaving." Prof. Banner called out as the students began to stand up and leave.
As everyone left the room, Draco placed his book on the desk and looked at his dorm's head who leaned in quite closely.
"Is something wrong, Prof. Banner?" Draco asked, clearly uncomfortable with the close stare.
"Are feeling alright?" he asked, "It seemed you were slightly struggling with your studies."
"I just had a few things on my mind is all, sir." Draco replied, half lying.
"Alright, I would hate to see one of my favorite Slifers suddenly fall from grace."
"One of your favorites?"
"Oh yes, I have a long list of students that I like above the others. You happen to be on the top of the list." Prof. Banner replied, chuckling lightly.
"Mrow." His cat loudly let out.
"It is a long list, Pharaoh! I did not make it up!" he slightly defended himself from his cat.
Draco blinked a few times, hearing an outburst from the cheerful Prof. Banner and it was to his cat, "Umm did you just argue with your cat?" he asked.
Prof. Banner looked up slightly embarrassed and chuckled out, It's a cat person thing." He said, "if you own a cat yourself, you'll understand what it's like, it's like cats judge everything you do and say."
"Mrow."
"Yes, you do!"
Draco smiled awkwardly before slowly walking out of the room, meeting up with Syrus, Mana and Bastion for lunch.
"Sorry about the wait, guys." Draco told them.
"It's quite alright." Bastion replied, "Did Prof. Banner hold you back to talk to you?"
"Well, not really." He answered, "Something about not wanting one of his favorite Slifers to sudden fall from grace."
"Prof. Banner has favorites?" Mana asked.
"That's what I asked." Draco told her.
"I'm just glad that today is only half a day." Syrus said, "I can't stand all of this studying."
Draco and Bastion looked at each other and chuckled softly, "It's not funny, you guys." Syrus slightly yelled back.
"We don't mean to laugh, Syrus." Draco told him, "I know it's hard with your performance anxiety, but once you manage to overcome it, you see how much it wasn't a big deal."
"Indeed, honestly there isn't anything to worry about." Bastion added.
"Easy for you two to say." Syrus stated.
The four went to the cafeteria, as they tried to cheer or help Syrus with his problems, even Mana tried to help Syrus with her own performance anxiety. As they ate Syrus pulled the Dark Magician Girl, Mana gave him out and smiled at it.
"You seem to stare at that one card any chance you get." Bastion stated, getting Syrus to yelp out quietly.
"He has a little crush on Dark Magician Girl." Draco told Bastion, slightly teasing Syrus.
"Really, Draco?!" Syrus asked, "Can't you keep anything a secret?"
The others looked at each other before bursting into a small fit of laughter, Syrus looked at them as they laughed before it clicked with him that Draco was just friendly teasing him.
"There we go." Draco announced, "Finally realized it's all fun and games with us."
They continue their chat and Bastion added his own ideas to Mana's improved Spellcaster deck, Draco even looked over Bastion's formula and agree that it was good, but didn't fit with Mana's style.
"Hey Syrus." Draco called to his buddy.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Think you should have a spellcaster deck as well so you could use Dark Magician Girl successful?"
"I have thought about that, but to be honest I'm not much of a spell user and who knows she might help my deck out with just her standard attack power."
"Well, just in case if the shop has restocked, we could try for more Spellcaster boosters to see if you can get something to support her." Mana suggested, "I mean we don't have to, but it could be a good idea."
Syrus thought it over before he smiled and nod his head, "That does sound like a good idea." He said, "I guess one or two cards wouldn't hurt."
"Afraid you can count me out." Bastion announced, "I have all the cards I need and I'm formulating a new deck as we speak."
"How many decks do you even have?" Draco asked, raising a brow.
"A total of six, so far."
"Six?" Mana and Syrus asked.
"So far?" Draco added more confused.
"A true duelist, is prepared for anything." Bastion stated.
"Wait, are you saying we are not true duelist with the one deck we are comfortable with?" Draco asked, with a slight glare.
"Don't get me wrong." Bastion said, "It's quite alright to use a deck you are familiar with, but always be ready for anything."
"I get with what you're saying, but my deck hasn't let me down." Draco stated, "I haven't figured out yet, but it always seems to get me the card I need when I need it."
"Isn't that just luck of the draw?" Mana asked.
"Could be." Draco responded.
"The mathematics of getting the right card is a random percentage of the size of your deck, vs. using the card and it being successful." Bastion stated.
Some other Ras approached them, asking Bastion to join their study group, which Bastion agrees, bidding his Slifer friends good-bye. After they finished up, they went to the Academy card shop, once again no one was there. Wondering why it looked like a ghost town a second time, they walk into the shop, Draco and Mana saw Ms. Dorothy and walked up to her.
"Hey, Ms. Dorothy." Draco called out, "Why is this place so empty again?"
"Well, hello to you two again." She replied cheerfully, "Well, no one came in today due to our inventory being empty. We are getting some new packs soon."
"So, what time will they arrive if you know?" Syrus asked.
"Well, before the Promotion Duels." She replied, "but you know by then, there could be none left."
"Well, guess that means we'll just have to beat the crowd here." Draco stated.
"Yeah, easier said than done." Sadie called out from the back.
"What do you mean?" Mana asked.
"Well dearie." Ms. Dorothy started, "the Obelisks somehow always beats everyone and if they don't, they always pull the 'Higher dorm privilege' shit."
"In other words, they force their way to the front of the crowd and if that doesn't work, no doubt Crowler would let them in first." Draco softly growled.
"Well you can try." She replied.
They bid her a fine day, and began to return to the Slifer Dorm, as they did, looking from his office, Dr. Crowler bit into another handkerchief groaning in fear. His mind flashed to the duel that Draco and Alexis had, witness the whole thing, and couldn't believe one of his star pupils lost to a Slacker.
"This is bad." He thought, "If that Slacker managed to beat my Queen of Obelisk Blue, he could out class all the others and make a mockery of my dorm. Especially if he gets his hands on any new cards!"
He began to pace around his office, before yelping out as the door was knocked on, "Y-yes wh-who is it?" he stammered.
Opening the door, Chancellor Shepard, Mai Wheeler and Prof. Banner walk in and noticed how nervous Crowler was.
"Is everything alright, Crowler?" Shepard asked him.
"Oh, yes of course, Chancellor." He replied.
"Then why the nervous handkerchief out, Hun?" Mai asked.
Crowler looked into his hand and let out a nervous chuckle, putting it in his pocket, "Oh, well. Just force of habit, worried that I might demote some of my Obelisk if they don't perform well."
"I don't see how that should be a problem." Banner stated, "If you lose an Obelisk you can gain a new one of a Ra does well."
"Besides if anything, you might just lose Chazz." Mai bluntly stated, getting all eyes on her.
"And what makes you say that, Ms. Mai?" Crowler asked her, raising a brow.
"First, it's 'Mrs. Wheeler' to you 'Mr.' Crowler." She remarked.
"IT'S DOCTOR!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. There is a rumor going around, that Chazz lost to a Slifer on the first day of school."
This time, Crowler looked stunned, even frozen in place, "I see that caught your attention." Mai stated.
"Th-that's impossible!" Crowler yelled out, "A Slacker is nowhere near the level of Chazz Princeton!"
"I'm afraid it's true." Banner added, "I even looked at the security recording, to see if it's all true."
Crowler rushed to his computer and looked through the videos until he found the footage of the stadium, then looked through the footage of the days since the school days started and found the first day. His eyes were glued to the screen and after a few minutes, Mai left her and up with three fingers out, counting down, and then point to Crowler as he let out a silent gasp as his jaw dropped, watching the footage, as Draco beaten Chazz.
"Wh-what? That Slifer should be punished!" Crowler yelled out.
"Actually, Crowler." Shepard told him, "If anyone should be punished, it should be Chazz. Ms. Fortaine informed by Alexis Rhodes had to help the young Slifer girl to the nurse office after Chazz harshly slapped her."
"However, Fonda said the whole defeat by someone who Chazz viewed as lower than him, was a suitable punishment." Banner added.
"You either need to tell Chazz how thin the ice he is walking on is, or demote him as punishment, Crowler." Mai stated, "I would have done that to him, for the past weeks with how rudely he keeps interrupting my classes, even telling me how to teach it."
"Indeed." Shepard agreed with her, "Crowler if Chazz doesn't do well at any of the exams, you will demote him."
"What if he fails the written exams but passes the duel exam?" Crowler asked with slight panic.
"Well." Shepard thought it over.
"Chancellor if I may?" Banner asked, "If say Chazz does well in the written exam but fails the duel exam or vice versa, Chazz will be on thin ice for demotion."
"I think that will be appropriate." Shepard replied, then looking at Crowler, "There you have it Crowler, it all depends on Chazz."
After a bit of talk about the exams, they left Crowler alone, the second the door clicked shut, he pulled his handkerchief out and again and began to panic again.
"Ugh! How could Chazz lose that that Slacker!?" he yelled before his eyes snapped open and regain that usual grin, "Of course, Chazz didn't have the full set. Time to go shopping."
Over at the Obelisk Girl Dorm, a handful of them were studying, to keep their grades up and not have to worry about demotion, the others were so self-absorbed, that they believe they would never be demoted. Some of them believed their money would be enough while others believed their body and natural looks would persuade for the dorm. In one room however, three of Obelisk girls studied together, being Alexis, Jasmine, and Mindy. They stopped for a bit of a breather to just relax before finishing up. Jasmine and Mindy began to talk and gossip again, while Alexis, her mind flashed to the aftermath of her duel with Draco, more precise when she stumbled and her head pressed against his chest. She had tried to get that moment out of her head but nothing she did could stop it from repeating in her head.
"What do you think, Alexis?" Mindy asked, causing the blonde to softly gasp out and return to reality.
"I'm sorry, Mindy." She said, "What was it you asked?"
"Really?" Mindy asked, "I was asking what you thought about the other Obelisks. How they think they are untouchable."
"Oh, you already know what I think." Alexis replied, "They just think their money will get them anything they want."
"Wow." Jasmine stated, "You really weren't in your head. What were you thinking about?"
Alexis slightly jumped back, before she fidgets a little, "I was thinking about…. My brother."
Jasmine and Mindy looked at each other than back at Alexis, "Yeah, it would make sense you would be thinking about him." Mindy told her friend.
"We don't blame you, Lex." Jasmine added, "You do miss him."
"I am going to find him." Alexis told them, "Alright back to studying."
Back at the Slifer dorm, Draco and his two friends sat under a tree, well Syrus and Mana sat under the tree, Draco laid on a branch above them. Mana trying to cheer Syrus up for the shop's lack of boosters to try to help his own Dark Magician Girl. Draco, still puzzled by the fact that one of his "Guards" sat on the roof of the dorm and his "Cousin" sitting on the branch with him.
"You know what I have been meaning to ask you guys?" Draco asked Kulaas.
"What's on your mind, Draco?" she asked in return.
"You guys are spirits that only my parents and myself can see and hear. You can also phase through doors, walls, and other obstacles, but you are able to sit on anything." Draco explained, "How?"
"We just can." Kulaas simply replied, "I guess, we just think the object is in our world, which is why we can't phase through."
"That just raises more questions than answers." Draco stated.
"Hey, it's best not to get answers." Kulaas remarked, "Otherwise, there would be no fun in trying to find the answer yourself."
Draco raised his brow, before she sighed out slightly irritated, "Iilahnuv and I sitting on something in your world is the thing you question? Not the fact, your mother and father are Duel Monsters, living in the human world?"
Draco laid his head back looking through the leaves of the tree, "Hmm, she's right. Mom and Dad are Duel Monsters. I remember asking them if I was their son. Sophitia did say I was their birth son. Even the Healer said the same, even saying she was there at my birth. But, wouldn't that make me a Duel Monster?"
"Hey, Cousin." Kulaas sing-song, "Your friends are calling for you."
Draco looked down seeing Mana standing and looking up at him, "Finally, I've been calling you for about twenty seconds." She scolded.
"Sorry, Mana." Draco replied, "What's up?"
"Syrus and I are going to go through some of the cards I got from the packs to see if there is any he can try to use."
"So, whose dorm room are you going to? Ours or yours?" Draco asked, with a slight smile.
"Draco!" Syrus yelled out, "You know the boys aren't allowed in the girls dorm rooms!"
"Correction, Sy. We can't be in the rooms after dark."
This statement caused Syrus and Mana to blush before slowly looking at each other and began to stuttered out, then shaking their heads wildly and glaring at Draco.
"Shut the hell up!" they shouted at the same time, causing Draco to laugh loudly before they both began laughing with him.
"Oh man, you two are easy to tease." Draco stated, "But it's a friendly tease."
"Y-yeah I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard." Syrus added, "Alright you guys have fun with that." Draco said as he jumps out of the tree, "I'm going to do some research on some Obelisks to take them down when it's not exam time."
"In that case, Syrus we might want to go to- well my room." Mana said, slightly blushing as Syrus did the same, slowly nodding. As they went off Draco slowly walked towards the stairs to his dorm before the black armored almost water-based body looked down at him.
"Dii Drog, fos los dii uth?" Iilahnuv asked.
"I already gave you, your orders." Draco respond, "It was to return to the Duel Spirit World."
"Zu'u korah Zu'u fun hi tol Zu'u nis erei vulon." Iilahnuv replied.
"Yeah, I know. Not until night." Draco sighed out, "Look I'm just going to research some of the Obelisks. To kick them down a peg, just stay here. I don't need you to look over my shoulder."
Iilahnuv looked down confused as Draco walked up to the stairs and return to his dorm leaving the two spirits outside.
"Zu'u dreh ni frolok avok ok suld. Dreh Zu'u?" Iilahnuv asked Kulaas.
"You have all day." She replied, "Heck, not even Sophitia is that clinging and she's a Royal guard."
"Hey I'm not clinging."
Iilahnuv and Kulaas looked at the door Draco walked through seeing Sophitia standing there.
"I just take pride in my work in guarding the Young Lord."
"You take pride in guarding any of us royals." Kulaas teased.
"Speaking of, your fiancé is looking for you." Sophitia stated getting a disgust expression from the water princess.
"Ugh! Him?" she hissed out, "I don't know why, Aunt Saffira wants me to marry that hot-headed jerk."
"That was one of the reasons she named you the Water Dragon Princess." Sophitia explained, "The monsters and dragons of both the Water and Fire realms have been at war for ages. Queen Saffira had a vision with the Mage's help that you and he can end the war with a union."
"He only agreed to it because he wants to control the warriors of the Water. That's why I'm against it!" Kulaas roared out.
"You have to get use to it." Sophitia replied, "The Blind Sage, had foreseen a battle that you and the Fire Prince will be fighting side by side."
"Yeah right." She scoffed, "Not once has he and I been on the field together."
Inside Draco's room, he was looking through the Obelisk students to figure out who should his next target be, until he came across something odd. One of the senior Obelisk had in bold red, next to his name, "Missing." Draco pondered about it before clicking his name, seeing the standard info, name, year, deck Arch-type, and Ace card, but followed by last known location.
"The Abandoned Dorm?" Draco questioned out loud.
"What was that?" Chumley asked, "Why are you asking about that dorm?"
"Where is this dorm?" Draco asked.
"You know we are not allowed anywhere near that place."
"Chumley, you have been here for what three years?"
"Four."
"Ok, four years. Where is this dorm?"
The two stared each other down before Chumley sighed out, "It's in the forest. East of the main building." He finally answered.
"Is there a path to it?" Draco asked.
"Yeah. But you won't find anything." Chumley turned over as Draco return to the computer screen.
"Hey, Draco." A voice called out.
He turned to see laying on Syrus' bed, an anthro dragon, light amber under belly scales with a dark near reddish brown outer scales, a light black silk sash around his waist and piercing yellow eyes looking at him, before sighing out.
"What do you want, Vulok." Draco asked.
"Just wondering if you have seen my future queen anywhere." He replied, Draco darting his eyes at the dragon, before sighing again.
"The last time I saw Kulaas was after my duel with Alexis." He lied, "I haven't seen her since, and you don't become a king from marrying her, Vulok. You got your prince title from my mother. Only she can give you the title of king, if she deems you worth of the title."
"If you say so." Vulok mocked, "All I know is once it's all said and done, I'll have the rights to order her forces around."
"You do know, her father is the Ocean Dragon Lord, right?" Draco stated, "You on the other hand didn't have any noble parents, only the title my mother gave you, which she can take back."
"Hey, don't push it, Draco." Vulok snarled, "Or do you want to get burned by a real dragon?"
I have ben hit by fire from stronger dragons than you." Draco remarked, "Also, three…. two…. one."
"Vulok!"
The sudden roar caused the Fire Prince to fall off the triple deck bed as Kinbok appeared glaring at him, "I have told you a thousand times, do NOT threaten the Young Lord!"
"Hey whoever is in the room now, keep it down!"
Draco, Kinbok and Vulok looked up at Chumley with his back to them, confusing all three of them.
"Did… Did he just hear you two?" Draco thought to keep himself from being found out.
"That's impossible." Kinbok remarked.
"No shit it's impossible!" Vulok snarled out, causing Chumley to turn over, facing them now.
"I said, keep it—" he stopped as he looked around only seeing Draco sitting in the chair, "Where did the other two go?"
"he can't see them." Draco thought to himself, "What do you mean?" he asked.
"I heard two other people talking in the room. Where did they go?"
Draco pretend to look around for a bit, before looking back at his roommate, "Chumley, I'm the only one here. Were you dreaming?"
He sighed out, irritated before laying back down, "Ugh, hearing damn voices again."
Draco looked at the Captain and the Fire Prince, before Kinbok grabbed Vulok by the horn and disappeared with him. Draco then return to the screen and used its mapping, to find the location of the Abandon Dorm putting the info in his PDA, and saved it. He then returned to the missing students seeing the large number of them, before one caught his eyes, an Obelisk with a familiar hair style, but being brunette.
"Atticus Rhodes?" Draco thought softly, "Wait, that name is familiar."
He typed the name into the student search box, and not only did this Atticus pop up again but so did Alexis.
"That's why it was familiar. Damn I forgot that Alexis told me her last name on the ship. So, this other Rhodes, let's see, same hair style maybe a year or two older, only two theories, they are cousins or brother and sister."
His pondering stopped as the door open, looking over he sees Syrus walking back and sighing out tiredly.
"How are you tired?" he asked.
"Are you kidding me? It's been a few hours." Syrus replied.
Draco blinked a few times before looking at the clock in the room, reading 9:35 PM.
"Well, fuck. I didn't know the time flew that fast." Draco stated, "Guess I got way to in my research, I lost track of the time."
"What were you researching?" Syrus asked.
"Just the next Obelisk to take down." Draco replied, "Didn't see any worth the time."
Draco turned the computer off before he walked to the bed and slipped into the bottom bunk, just lying there staring up.
"I feel like an idiot. Forgetting someone's name like that."
Outside and sitting on top of the dorm, Iilahnuv stared at the moon as Kulaas hugged her legs staring at the open ocean, clearly still upset about her union arrangements.
"Hi dreh bek, Hin Lokom?" Iilahnuv asked the princess.
"I don't want to marry that asshole, Iilahnuv." She replied, "I told Aunt Saffira, I didn't want to."
"Zu'u dreh ni lorot mu vis dilah voth jud."
"No, no we can't argue with her."
Kendov appeared next to her with his arms crossed and stayed silent, before the princess sighed out.
"What is it Kendov?" she asked the fighter.
"I was ordered by the Captain to escort you back to the Guild." He replied, "And to remind the Moon Dragon Guard, she has to return to the Spirit World."
"Zu'u dreh no mindok fodZu'u fen kos zek ko daar lein." She replied, "Zu'u los kovir tiid Zu'u lost."
"You will have plenty of time." Kendov replied, "The Young Lord, doesn't ban us from returning. Besides, you can return anytime. You don't need to wait for the moon to rise. I understand it takes a lot of energy when out of your element, I had to meditate for hours, before I was able to return without meditating."
The Moon Guard looks back to the moon and sighs out heavily, "Flogah, vos mii daal wah faal Zii Lien."
"Just keep that asshole of a 'prince' away from me." Kulaas slightly ordered.
"I will do my best, Princess Kulaas." Kendov replied.
The three spirits returned to their world. The next morning, Syrus tried his best to wake Draco up, before Chumley stopped him, explaining that they had to duel someone in their dorm to see if they can be promoted to the next dorm. Syrus didn't want to leave him behind, before Mana ran in saying they were about to be late themselves, Syrus hesitated but left Draco in the dorm, after the room was empty, Kinbok, Heimwahl, Sophitia, Kendov, and Kulaas appeared in the dorm.
"By the gods he's going to be late again." Sophitia panicked.
"Draco, come on wake up!" Kulaas yelled, hoping to wake him up, to no prevail.
"Stand back, Lass." Heimwahl said, walking next to the bed and cracking his neck.
"No hammer, Heimwahl." Kendov told the blacksmith, before he leans over Draco's head.
"OI! WAKE UP YOU SLEEPING BASTARD!" he roared into Draco's ear, causing him to yell and flail around before crashing to the floor, groaning out as he slowly sat up rubbing his head.
"Ugh! What the fuck, Heimwahl?!" he growled.
"Oh? You want the fuck?" he replied, "The fuck is, you are about to be late for your exams, AGAIN!"
Draco looked at the clock before his eyes widen and struggled to get dress, as Sophitia and Kulaas turned around.
"Ah damn it, not again!" Draco panicked, "Why didn't anyone try to wake me up before you guys?!"
"Well, your little buddy did try, Cousin." Kulaas said with her back still turned.
"Syrus?" Draco asked.
"That's him, Lord Draco." Sophitia replied, "He tried shaking you and calling your name out."
Draco sighed out as he finished getting dressed and rushed to the door.
"Duel Disk." Kendov simply said, making Draco turned around and grab the disk and then outside, running as fast as he could to get to the main building.
"He's barely going to make it." Kinbok said.
"I'll take you on that bet." Kendov replied, "He's going to be fine."
Draco ran down the pathway, panting out as he started to run up a hill to the main building, looking ahead he spotted a pick-up truck, stuck near the top of the hill and spotted someone familiar trying to push the truck.
"Ms. Dorothy?" Draco asked as he got into ear shot. She struggled with Sadie as she looked back to Draco with a smile.
"Oh, hello sweetie." She replied, "Why are you out here and not in the classes?"
"Overslept." He replied, "Do you need help?"
"Yes!" Sadie yelled out as she started to slip downhill.
Draco got behind the truck and began to help push it up the hill, as Ms. Dorothy and Sadie pushed on the sides, the truck slowly began to move up the hill, with the occasional slip from someone, but they manage to get it over the hill and on the flat road at the top.
"Oh, thank god that's over with." Sadie panted out.
"Yes, I really owe you one for this, Dearie." Ms. Dorothy said to Draco.
"It'll have to be later." Draco stated, before taking off again, "Got to hurry before I'm too late!"
Inside the class room, Prof. Banner took a head count, slightly sadden that he was down a Slifer, before the bell chimed to start the class and exams.
"Alright, students you may begin your exams." He announced.
The students began to take their exams, Syrus and Mana worried that Draco would fail the written exam, but kept to their own. After about five minutes into the exams, the doors to the class burst open, startling everyone, as Draco panted out loudly, dripping with sweat, before Prof. Banner walked up to the sweaty panting teen.
"What were you doing?" he asked in a hush tone.
"I'm- I'm sorry Pr-Professor." Draco panted out, "I-I accidently ov-over-slept and- whew- and on-on my way here, I-I spotted the card shop owner h-having trouble with a truck on the hill."
"Oh." Prof. Banner replied, "You helped with the truck, being a good person?"
"Y-yeah."
Banner allowed Draco to take his sit and begin his exam. As time went on, Each dorm had different body languish of the exam; Obelisk showed no signs of worry or frustration, Ra was 50-50 some showing no problems, others showed some stress over thinking some answers, and the Slifer, almost all was panicking, Syrus mostly visibly sweating, but Draco on the hand, was the only one not panicking, even though he was five minutes late, he mange to catch up was after only thirty minutes into the hour long exam, was finished, as he sighed out and pretty much went back to sleep after his rude "alarm clock" woke him up. Up in the Obelisk seating, Alexis noticed Draco just sleeping, along with his test paper flipped so no one can look at it, came to the conclusion he finished before the class as she finished herself. Over to the other side Chazz, who was only half way done, angrily growled as he looked at Draco sleeping with his test all done.
"That fucking Slacker!" He hissed in his head, "How dare that nobody shows up late and finished before me!"
The bell chimed again, ending the written exams, and cause most of the class to rush out of the room, Draco wake up to the commotion, looking at the last bit of the room empty out.
"The hell is their problem?" he asked out loud.
"Did you forget, Draco?" Mana asked, "The new cards came in."
Draco sat up startling Syrus, "Crap! Today is not my day." He said, "We need to try at least get a single pack for you two."
The three Slifers ran down the hall towards the card shop, the slowed down as they came to the corner, expecting to run into a crowd, only to find it empty, students and packs.
"Again?" Draco asked raising a brow.
"The third time in a row with us." Syrus stated.
The walked into the shop anyways, Ms. Dorothy smiling warming as she waved at them.
"Well, if it isn't my hero of the day?" she cheerfully stated.
"What Happen to this place, Ms. Dorothy?' Draco asked her.
"Well, you are not going to believe it but all of the packs were sold before the shop even opened." She replied.
"All of them?!" Mana asked in disbelief.
"Well, except these three." she replied, holding up three packs.
"we learn that since these packs contain powerful cards," Sadie started, "each pack only has three cards."
"Dang only three?" Syrus asked.
"I guess we'll take them." Draco said pulling his wallet out, before Ms. Dorothy started to chuckled.
"I did say I owe you one for helping with the truck." She stated, "I manage to pull these out before my mysterious buyer took the packs."
Handing the packs over to them, they bowed in respect and gratitude, before opening the packs up. Syrus' pack contained Sage's Stone, Magic Formula, and even Dark Magician. Mana's contained Magician of Black Chaos, Dark Burning Attack, and Magician Girl of Black Chaos. Draco opened his pack revealing the cards Dragon Shield, Masked Dragon, and Dragon Nails.
"Hmm, these could be helpful." He muttered.
"I can't believe I got cards for my Dark Magician Girl." Syrus happily stated.
"Yeah, and I can finally use my Ritual of Black Chaos card." Mana stated.
"let's head to the stadium guys." Draco told them, "We might be late for our duels."
They fast walked to the stadium, seeing all the students there, all were disappointed with the shop being out before it was opened. The announcer for the duel exam came out and began to shout out names as who will be dueling, after a bit of calling out names.
"In the Duel Number 19; Draco Kaitos and Chazz Princeton."
"Wait. Draco and who?" Draco asked, being extremely confused.
"He said my name you Slacker."
Draco and many of the other turned to the Obelisks as a familiar black hair smug boy walked up.
"When did you get demoted to Slifer Red?" Draco asked him.
"Wow, a Slacker and color-blind." Chazz remarked, "It seems there wasn't enough of your loser slacker followers to get to this exam. So, you are paired with your better."
Many of the Obelisk began to cheer Chazz on, for his "smack talk" to Draco.
"My better? I'm sorry but I recall you lost to me in our first duel."
"That duel was never an official duel so it doesn't count." Chazz remarked.
"But according to you, our duel was one?" Mana snapped back, glaring at the Obelisk.
Chazz glared back taking a step towards her, before Draco stood in his way.
"What was that you said Slifer Whore?" he hissed.
"I bet she's right." Draco growled back, "That duel you had her in was unfair and was a forced, I bet you told her, that she can't run from an official duel."
"You shut up Slacker." One of Chazz's girls snapped, "You don't have the right to call our Chazz out like that!"
"Oh, and you have the right to call me out, Obelisk Slut?" Draco asked.
"Alright, enough all of you!" the announcer demanded.
"Yes, that is quite enough of the Slacker rabble."
Draco looked by the announcer seeing Dr. Crowler with his skimming grin again.
"What are you doing here?" Draco asked.
"My job." He replied, "To ensure no one cheats."
"I believe that is my job, Crowler."
Dr. Crowler yelped and spun around seeing the Chancellor standing behind with a smile.
"Oh, Chancellor Shepard." He sighed out.
"Now Crowler, explain why a Slifer is dueling an Obelisk?" he asked, "The promotion duels are to be done with members of the same dorm."
"Well, as Chazz Princeton stated there was an odd number of Slifers as well as Obelisks, so I figured, why not have the two duel each other, as you, yourself stated that this Slifer is on skill level of Obelisk."
Shepard thought this over, before looking at Draco, "Well, young man? What do you say to the condition?"
"I don't have a problem with it." He replied, "It'll be nice to remind that prick how weak he really is."
"That's what you think Slacker." Crowler thought.
Earlier that day, Chazz stormed down the hall, with his two girls following him.
"We are sorry Chazz." One said to him.
"We did get there before everyone like you told us, but when the doors opened, they announced they were sold out." The other added.
"I'm not angry at you two." He growled, "I'm pissed at the fucking asshole, who bought everything!"
"Well, that's not polite to call your head, Princeton."
Chazz and the girls looked into the next hall as Dr. Crowler walked out, with a grin.
"Dr. Crowler?" Chazz asked, "What do you mean that wasn't nice."
"I mean, I spent my paycheck to buy every pack on the shop to get you some much needed rare cards." He replied.
"You bought all the cards?" the girls asked.
"Yes, I did." Crowler replied, "I good thing I did, the twelve cards you need to torture and humiliate the Slacker that did the same to you were in the last four packs I opened."
"What cards?" Chazz asked, before Crowler handed him four Monsters, five Spells and three Trap cards, causing Chazz to smile evilly and began to chuckle coldly.
The flashback ends with all the students getting on the platform in the order they were assign to, Chazz smirking as if he already won the duel, as Draco glared back.
"Now then, begin the exams!" Crowler announced.
Syrus gulped loudly as he was first to be called. His duel went on pretty rough, his opponent getting a better hand and getting the upper hand on the field, before Syrus manage to draw his Dark Magician Girl, summoning her and using Sage's Stone to get Dark Magician out, ending the duel in his favor as he sighed out and losing the strength in his legs. A bit of time passed as the duels came closer to Draco's and Chazz's rematch duel, with Mana in her duel using the combination of Breaker the Magical Warrior and Crusader of Endymion, before letting both of them attack her opponent directly, winning the duel.
"Alright Duel 19 Enter the stage now!" Crowler yelled out. Draco stood up and walked down to the stage before being shoved by Chazz as he chuckled out.
"You don't permission to be the first down there, Slacker." He mocked.
Draco growled at him, but continue down to the stage standing on his side, activating his duel disk as Chazz continued his smirk.
"Now since Mr. Princeton is of the higher dorm, he has the first move." Crowler announced.
"Oh yeah, right." Draco mocked, "It's not like you're showing favoritism."
"Then you better check the handbook, Slacker." Chazz spat out, "Students in the Higher dorms always go first."
"DUEL!"
Chazz LP: 4000
Draco LP: 4000
Chazz drew his card before, placing it into his hand and pulling another card out.
"I'll start off with this, Meteor of Destruction!"
A large fireball formed above Chazz before it shot towards Draco, causing a massive explosion as Draco groans out. The smoke settled showing some smoke blowing off of Draco's body.
Draco LP: 4000-3000
"What?" Mana gasped out, "He never had that card before."
"That's properly, because he just got."
Mana and Syrus looked up seeing Alexis standing above their seats.
"Just got it? You think he's the one that bought all the packs at the store?" Syrus asked.
"I don't know." Alexis replied, "But I think whoever gave him the cards did so on purpose."
Draco groaned out as he glared at Chazz, "What the fuck?!"
"Oh, I'm not done." Chazz replied, "Again, Meteor of Destruction!"
"What?!" Draco snarled out, looking up as the second fireball shot down, as be braced himself for the second exploding impact.
Draco LP: 3000-2000
Draco groaned out, his legs shaking from the sudden strike.
"Why don't you fall to the ground, Slacker?" Chazz shouted out, "After all, it's where you belong. On your knees before your better."
"You son of a bitch." Draco growled back, "That's not even clever. You are just saying what I told you at the end of our first duel!"
"Fine I'll make you get on your knees with these three cards, Hinotama!"
Chazz slammed the three spell cards into a slot, before a barrage of fireballs, rained down on to Draco.
Draco LP: 2000-1500-1000-500
After the smoke from the barrage cleared, Draco panted out and struggled to stand up, but refuse to fall to his knees.
"Is-is that all, Obelisk prick." Draco panted out.
"I'll play the final card in my hand, Card of Sanctity."
Draco's eye twitched, in irritation, "Are you fucking kidding me?!"
"Draw you weak and only card, while I get a brand-new hand." Chazz mocked out, drawing six cards as Draco drew one.
"Now, I play Double Summon and summon V-Tiger Jet and W-Wing Catapult!"
Two monsters appeared, one being a jet with a light green body, tail and front wings, with the back wings, head and landing gear being yellow with the head being that of a tiger and the other being a large blue flying vehicle having missile pods on each side on the top of machine.

"I'll end my turn with three face downs."
"Oh great, went through a second hand." Draco thought. He then drew his card, looking through his hand.
"Alright, I'll lay three cards face down as well, and then I'll summon Rahzun, the Dragon Guard Soldier!"
A dark blue- near black scaled dragon appeared, with a blueish-grey under belly, wearing standard steel soldier armor wielding a clear blue crystalize sword as well as a second sword sheathed behind him, slightly larger than the other, glaring down the machine.

"I don't think so, Slacker." Chazz chuckled out, "I activate my trap, Draining Shield!"
A rainbow barrier appeared as Rahzun's blade collided with it, make Chazz chuckle out.
Chazz LP: 4000-6000
"Damn it, I end my turn."
Chazz drew his card and just smiled evilly, "I activate face down cards! Both being Pot of Greed!" he yelled out, drawing four cards.
"He'll run out of cards if he keeps drawing like that." Syrus stated.
"That may be." Bastion agreed, startling all three of them, "But it also increases his chances of getting what he wants."
"I'll start by using my VW-Tiger Catapult's Special Ability. By discarding one card, I can change the battle position of your monster."
The fusion seems to launch a missile hitting the ground and causing a bright flash. As Draco shielded his eyes as the light faded showing his Soldier in Defense Mode.
"And I also play a second Double summon to bring out X-Head Cannon and Z-Metal Tank!"

"Now, draw your three cards, while I get a new hand." He mocked back. Each duelist drew their cards, "I'll play three face downs, again and play Monster Reborn. Return Y-Dragon Head!"
The monster he called for emerged from the Graveyard as he placed it on the field.

"I now discard this useless card to use XYZ's Special Ability." Chazz announced, "Hyper Destruction that middle face down card!"
The fire cannons took aim and blasted the card, showing it be Negate Attack.
"I knew it your luck finally ran out! Now my XYZ-Dragon Cannon, destroy his stupid lizard! Cannon Firestorm!"
The triple fusion machine launched its attack destroying the Soldier as Draco grunts out.
"I'll end my turn, I'm not done playing with you yet, Slacker." Chazz told Draco, "Not until I get you on your knees, where you truly belong as the Slacker you are!"
Draco glared out as the Obelisk began to laugh loudly and evilly as his two machines took aim at their target.
TO BE CONTINUE
(Author's Note: Ok first cliffhanger, now to settle this once and for all, especially to the Guest reviewers. The negativity I get from you will not stop me from continuing the story now to the Guest that reviewed on April the 22nd, yes, the main duels of the canon will happen with my twists, how else is the story going to progress without those major duels? The answer: they can't. So, they will happen. Also, I will no long be answering the Guest reviews in the Author's Note, since it seems I had to them in each chapter and it's tiring. I'll only answer PMs sent to me, or reviews from accounts on the site.)
